I'm joined by Martin Sellner, leader of Identitäre Bewegung Österreich (Identitarian Movement of Austrian). His movement supports remigration out of Europe, what we would call mass deportations. Eery similarities pervade the overwhelming flood of immigrants into both of our countries, both inexplicably borderless, and the reactions are also quite similar, although America has perhaps more excuses for it than Austria.Crazily, the symbol of his movement has been literally banned from public display in Austria; displaying it could get you arrested in Vienna. This despite it being outwardly anti-Nazi and ethnopluralistic (e.g. not racist in the sense hand wrung over by globalists). He describes the ridiculousness of the iconoclastic symbol ban and much else in our fantastic conversation. This week, Sam rounds out the Winter Bizarre with the 2007 ABC Family movie Holiday in Handcuffs. Melissa Joan Hart (character name unknown) is always trying to please her very demanding parents, but this year she's excited because she's bringing her successful boyfriend to the family Christmas trip to a rural log cabin. However, after tanking a job interview, Melissa is dumped by that same boyfriend mere hours before they were supposed to leave. What's a girl to do? Easy: Kidnap the nearest available man, in this case Mario Lopez (character name also unknown). This sets Melissa on a wild ride where she has to convince her family that the very-much-not-happy-to-be-there Mario is actually her boyfriend, so they can all just get off her back, okay. This is, obviously, a perfect plan, and through a series of truly convoluted events, and aided by some remarkably oblivious family members and a Mario Lopez who could really be doing more to escape, Melissa mostly manages to keep up the ruse. However, things start to get serious when Melissa sees how much her family all love Mario, and Mario develops Stockholm Syndrome. Crazily enough, the movie doesn't end when Melissa gets busted for kidnapping, but somehow there's still a lot more to the story. Other highlights include: A strange family tradition involving a "key master", a surprise interest in art from both characters, some sporadic narration, and a drunken grandmother threatening to shoot police officers with a flintlock pistol. Seriously, this movie is just all the bananas.

Aside from the Wahs, who have dominated public discourse for the last few weeks, there are two other matters of some significance going on at the moment - the General Election and the Rugby World Cup.    It dawned on me on Friday morning - after the Newshub Nation's Powerbrokers Debate, and while we wait patiently for the All Blacks to take to the field again - that these events have quite a bit in common.  They are both at times exciting, but for the most part boring, and occasionally headache inducing.   Put simply, both are in need of a shakeup of both style and formats.   Last weekend I was amped for the debates, but reminded this week that debates aren't really debates. They're a time restrained forum in which leaders, supported by a folder filled with back up notes, repeat well-rehearsed policy messages, while they may attempt a few zingers. It's all about a strong defence and not messing it up.  We don't learn anything new. Nor do we get much of a feel for the person behind the politics. To be fair, there has been the odd lively moment, especially in the Minor Leaders Debate but the overwhelming repetition of the same old narratives generally makes for pretty dull stuff. Talking over people doesn't work in day-to-day life. It's not suddenly going to work on television. The format needs a shake-up – if you're going to make the debates look like a game show – maybe throw some game in.    The Rugby World Cup is similar. Rugby is a brilliant sport to watch, except at the professional level where defence and time wasting dominate. I don't care how they do it, but the game and tournament desperately needs to speed up. Fewer rules? Fewer set pieces? Fewer advantages?   Hang on – it's starting to sound like something else.  And regarding the tournament, cooler temperatures? Fewer teams? Bigger squads? More jeopardy in pool play? Let's speed this up.   Crazily, the Election and RWC collide on the weekend of the 14th and 15th October when the All Blacks play their quarter final – a live or die game. I thought it may provide him and listeners with an empathetic ear from a man who's been a few tough places. I pray this helps you develop as humans and as leaders in your world!#KeepKillingAbbreviated Transcript from the showI think the best way I can illustrate this is with a short story about an experience I had talking to a a soldier at the end of his like illustrious career. So this guy is a ranger, you know, tabbed out, you know, a bad mofo...So I had an instructor at the ranger school reach out to me a couple of years ago and he just asked me, he's like, can I just ask you a couple questions about civilian life? I said, always if I have time to give to a veteran or a military service member who needs my help, you have, what can I do for you? And he's like, I just want to know, you know, he was in the seven, he was getting ready to process out of the army is getting ready to retire. And so he asks me be like, I dipped my toe in the pool of the civilian world and these were his words and I'm paraphrasing, but he said something to the effect of is it is bad out there as it seems or as it smells to me. And my response was, it's 1000 times worse jump in. It's 1000 times worse than you think it is jump in.Let me qualify the statement. What is he asking me? I've had some interactions with civilians. I didn't really like those interactions much because I saw very quickly that my values and their values professionally are not the same thing doesn't make them bad people and be a good person or vice versa, just different. And I can see there's going to be conflict down the road and he sees correctly what tom brady is going to find as much like my ranger instructor buddy from the army is that tom brady is not only crazy. Crazily talented, he's also crazily driven and he has an off the planet work ethic. What does that sound like to you? Every single soldier who's ever been able to wear the uniform has to be that person to succeed, especially if you're a soldier who lasts long enough to retire. You have to be a tom brady character to do that. It's hard. Army life is not easy. Military life is not easy, right? And so what I'm telling him is worse is not, oh civilians are evil, You're gonna hate them all. No, you're gonna be used to working at a level that no civilians do because they don't have to in their job. Nobody dies at the end of the day if they screw up, right? And and and what a lot of people seem to think is veterans. We come to think we're better than other people because we've been through harder stuff. No, we signed up to do that hard stuff that doesn't make us better people. That makes us we kept our word and we did. That makes us, if anything, just people of integrity that keep our word, just because I've been through something harder than you, doesn't make me a better person. Because if I don't turn my hardship into something positive for another human, my hardship was worthless, right? So don't get it in your head that we think we're better than you. We just understand that we have a different work ethic and a different value ethic. And the way that we approach work, stereotypically, there are civilians that operate exactly like soldiersIt is Darwinian in the army. You either lead progress and become more awesome or we put you out on the street, there's no job like that. Most people I know are looking for shortcuts not like and what I teach my people in my spartan says there is no easy life. So if you're looking for that, don't call me looking for mentorship because there isn't one right? Support the show

5 Crazily Important Life Changing Habits

  Bible Study With Jairus – Acts 2   Acts 2 introduces us to some hotly debated topics: tongues, dreams, visions, and the infilling of the Spirit. Even though these topics are controversial among Christians, most Christians do not deny the historical events in this chapter. What Christians cannot agree upon is whether such experiences still occur today.   Let's dive in and examine some important questions related to the birth of the church in Acts 2.   Why is the Holy Spirit like a tongue of fire?   When Jesus was baptized, the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus in bodily form as a dove. Should we conclude that the Holy Spirit only takes the shape of a dove, or are there other forms that the Holy Spirit can take?   When the Holy Spirit descended on the disciples in Acts 2, he came in the form of tongues (Acts 2:1-4). In verse 3, God says that “divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one.” Did the Holy Spirit appear in the form of fire, or of tongues? The Bible clearly states that the Holy Spirit appeared in the form of tongues—tongues that seemed to be made of fire. We all know that Acts Chapter 2 details the infilling of the Holy Spirit, so we can conclude that the tongues were the Holy Spirit or the display of the Holy Spirit.    Why the tongue shape? As the book of James mentions, the tongue is very difficult to control. James noted that the tongue is the most troublesome member of our bodies. It can praise God or curse men. Like the small rudder of a ship, the tiny tongue has great power to direct the course of our lives. Like putting a bit into a horse's mouth to control it, we need to control our tongue (James 3:2-12).   So, what does it mean for the Holy Spirit to come down in the form of tongues? Perhaps the Holy Spirit is asking us to surrender to Him and let him control the most untamable part of the human body, the tongue. As we offer our tongues to him, we can then offer our entire bodies as living sacrifices to God. We can allow the Holy Spirit to speak in and through us, allowing our tongues to pray and speak for the glory of God.   The original intention of speaking in tongues made provision for the entire body, will, and tongue to be surrendered to God, an indication of a spiritual and mature Christian. However, tongues have been used by the evil one to cause arguments within the Christian body, so much so that the mentioning of tongues is viewed as a lack of Christian maturity.     The understanding of the experiences in Acts 2 often differs across different Christian groups. We know that Satan often distorts the most important truths of the Bible. For example, Satan often lies to Christians about their identity in Christ, which is vital to spiritual growth. Similarly, tongues are an important tool of a mature Christian. Therefore, Satan actively attacks and distorts the truth regarding the use of tongues. As a result, some Christians believe that speaking in tongues is a sign of immaturity in the spiritual life.   How do tongues help Christians mature spiritually?   As you mature spiritually, the hardest area to surrender to God is your tongue. The Holy Spirit wants to use your tongue to utter prayers. When you surrender your tongue to God, God will use your tongue to build you up in your faith (Jude 1:20). God will use “groanings too deep for words” to intercede for you (Romans 8:26). He will use your tongue to build  you up personally (1 Cor 14:4) and to build up others when the tongues are interpreted. (1 Cor 14:26). When we use tongues appropriately, we benefit the body of Christ in many ways.   However, if we do not live surrendered lives, our tongues are useless. This does not indicate a problem with our tongues. Just like any spiritual issues in the churches, it is often not about the issue itself, but whether individual believers live in the flesh or in the spirit.   Hence, objecting to tongues for the sake of objecting is a fleshly response, just like speaking in tongues for the sake of speaking in tongues. To God, it is most important that we be truly surrendered and obedient to Him, whether or not we speak in tongues.   Tongues: Human languages, angelic languages, prayer languages and prophetic words   What exactly are tongues? Are they human languages or angelic languages? They are both. In this passage, we see that the tongues are human languages. Jews from different regions were bewildered by hearing the disciples speak in their own languages, and the Galileans were startled to hear believers speaking in their native language as well (Acts 2: 7-8).   Paul also mentions the language of angels (1 Cor 13:1). Paul says, “if I spoke in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.” This verse is often used to undermine the use of tongues. However, the issue is not whether you speak in tongues, but whether you have demonstrated God's love. Speaking in tongues without love is just as useless as not speaking in tongues without love.   Tongues are also a language of prayer (1 Cor 14:14). In this verse, Paul says, “If I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.” Paul also mentions that “one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God” (1 Cor 14:2), and “builds up himself” (1 Cor 14:4). Many view the “building up of self” negatively, especially when compared to “building up of the Church.” These believers feel that building yourself is not the priority. But in reality, we need to build ourselves up so that we can build a better church.   Jude 1:20 says that we need to build ourselves up in the most holy faith, and “pray in the Holy Spirit.” Many believers think that Paul's reference to “praying in the Holy Spirit” is synonymous with “praying in tongues.” Previously, Paul used “pray in a tongue” and “pray in spirit” interchangeably (1 Cor 14:14-15). As we practice praying in tongues, we experience how tongues can build up our inner man. This practice will also increase our faith, and open doors to many gifts of the Holy Spirit.   At the same time, tongues are also a form of prophecy. Paul wrote in 1 Cor 14:26, “What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up.” The tongues mentioned in this passage refer to prophetic messages. When messages spoken in tongues are not translated, others cannot understand the message. For this reason, Paul does not allow for believers to speak in tongues during gatherings. However, if the tongues can be translated, then he permits a few to speak in tongues. Paul wrote in 1 Cor 12:30, “Do all speak with tongues?” This verse is not saying that believers cannot use tongues to pray personally, but rather that not all believers are gifted by God to speak and interpret tongues as a form of prophecy.    Many people lump the different types of tongues together and end up blindly objecting to the use of tongues, without even understanding the mysteries of tongues.   How should we perceive dreams and visions?   In Joel chapter 2, God foretold that in the end times, he would pour out his spirit on all flesh. People would prophesy, dream dreams and see visions. Though many Christians believe we are in the end times, few people actually see visions or have dreams. Those who do have prophetic dreams and visions usually interpret them subjectively. It's important to gain a clear understanding of the Bible's teaching on dreams and visions.     The Bible is full of accounts of dreams and visions. Christians understand the dreams and visions differently. When the dreams are difficult to understand, such as Daniel's dreams and John's visions in Revelation, these differences of interpretation are even more pronounced. Many believers are even more skeptical about modern Christians' dreams and visions. Skeptical believers point to past mistakes in the area of dreams and visions—mistakes which have caused harm and hurt to Christians. However, we cannot throw the baby out with the bathwater.   Does God still speak through dreams and visions today? The answer is a definitive yes. Despite the subjective nature of dreams and visions, and the possibility for misinterpretation, we cannot completely neglect, belittle or deny such experiences. If we do, we will miss out on important opportunities to encounter God and the Holy Spirit in a fresh way.   My personal encounter with dreams and visions   I have personally experienced a series of dreams that provided me with direction when I needed to make decisions. My natural mind interfered with my interpretation of these dreams and visions, but God provided guidance through more dreams and the moving of the Holy Spirit. In the end, I found the right path.   In 2015, after 10 years of infertility, the Holy Spirit guided me to seek help in the Charismatic movement. Through YouTube, I had learned about Randy Clark and his ministry work under Global Awakening. As I participated in a few sessions organized by Global Awakening, I heard about the “Christian Prophetic Certification Program” and “Christian Healing Certification program”. I longed for God's healing and wanted to hear His voice, so I signed up for the two certification programs. They also organized the “Global School of Supernatural Ministry” that lasted for two years. In addition, Global Awakening shared that they were partnering with the United Theological Seminary to organize a Doctor of Ministry (Dmin) program.       Through his “still small voice,” the Holy Spirit moved me to get this training. In addition, I received some prophetic words which confirmed my internal witness. Realizing that this idea was of God, I began the certification course so I could be equipped to serve him.  My plan was to complete the online courses for “Christian Prophetic Certification Program” and “Christian Healing Certification program”, before going full-time to the “Global School of Supernatural Ministry” for two years. After graduation, I would then join the United Theological Seminary to pursue the Dmin program.   In 2015 and 2017, I completed five semesters of the “Christian Prophetic Certification Program” and twelve semesters of the “Christian Healing Certification program” (4 semesters of supernatural healing, 4 semesters of inner healing, 4 semesters of deliverance ministries). At the beginning of the journey, we had not yet received miraculous healing or our miracle baby. However, during this process, I was continually seeking God's words and healing. We were finally blessed with a miracle baby in 2017.   During my studies, I remember praying unceasingly to God. I told him that if He healed us and gave us a baby, I would be willing to give up my business and translation job to go full-time into the “Global School of Supernatural Ministry” and serve God full time. I prayed unceasingly for God's healing. My wife also wished that God would give us a child, and she was willing to do whatever was needed, even allowing me to go into full-time ministry.   During the summer break of 2016, even though I had not completed both programs I was in, I wanted to quit my job and sign up for the “Global School of Supernatural Ministry”, while completing the other programs online. However, my wife did not agree. Since we did not yet have a child, my wife was unhappy and would not allow for me to go into full-time ministry to study.   One day, I felt extremely discouraged. During the moment of discouragement, I felt the Holy Spirit speaking: “One day, you will be seated in a classroom to study.” These words brought great comfort. I knew that God would allow me to undertake the theological education I had wished for, and that He would provide us with a child so that my wish to go to seminary could come to pass.   On July 18, 2016, I had a dream which reinforced my belief. In the dream, I took public transportation to the location of the Global Awakening classes. There were two stops. At the first stop, some people got off, but I did not. At the second stop, I got off. The female driver led me to a billboard that listed the names of some songs, such as “Crazily in Love with Jesus.” After that, a picture showed me that I would receive more of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.   Besides this dream, during one of the online lessons, I heard the Holy Spirit speaking to me that when I had more time to serve, God would pour out His Holy Spirit on me. At that time, I saw a person being filled with the Holy Spirit during the laying on of hands. I wondered, “When will I be able to experience this?” The Holy Spirit spoke immediately, “When you are able to give more time.” I believed that God was leading me to quit and give up my translation business and go into full time ministry. However, because I did not yet have a child, all these goals could not be accomplished. I had the feeling that, once God gave us a miracle baby, doors would begin to open. If God gave us a child, I would quit and give up my translation business and go into full time ministry.   Sure enough, our miracle baby was born in February 2017. Besides feeling very happy about the birth of my child, I also believed that God would open doors for me to go into full-time ministry and studies. I planned to stay in Maryland and commute to Pennsylvania daily for school. While the trip took two hours, traffic was smooth and allowed for a daily commute. During the day, my mother-in-law would take care of the child, and I could take care of the child at night.   However, my wife did not agree. I prayed to God in confusion. I had thought I was following God's will in making these arrangements. In addition, my wife had once promised God that if he gave us a child, she would agree to anything.   Additionally, I believed that the first bus stop where I did not get off in my dream represented the year 2016, and the second stop with an open door was 2017. Sure enough, the miracle baby was born in 2017. It seemed like an answered prayer.   However, my wife objected to the arrangement, questioning whether there was really a need to go to seminary full-time if I could do online courses. Furthermore, she emphasized that the school was setup for high school students. My wife was strongly opposed to my plans. As I prayed to God for guidance, I again had a dream.   In this dream, I was attending school in a classroom, and it seemed like class was over. However, I insisted on studying that particular topic, while the teacher wanted to change topics. I heard the teacher telling me not to be so stubborn. What he meant was for me not to insist on my viewpoint.   I felt like this dream was God telling me that He did not want me to attend Global School of Supernatural Ministry right now. My understanding of the second stop was wrong. A prophet spoke to me at a seminar, sharing that she felt that this was not God's route for me, since family should be my top priority. She believed that leaving my wife and child to study at a school that was so far away was not a good arrangement.   For this reason, I had to continue with my online courses in the “Christian Prophetic Certification Program” and “Christian Healing Certification program”. Between 2017 and 2019, I also started on preliminary courses for the Dmin program at the United Theological Seminary, officially embarking on the Dmin program in 2019.   I faced many challenges during the DMin studies, and even wanted to give up. One day, I attended a seminar on prophetic teachings. I sat in front of a sister-in-Christ from Nigeria, who suddenly prophesied over me that she felt God wanted me to finish the Dmin program. She believed this program would lay a strong foundation for serving Him, opening many doors in my service to Him.   At the end, the different pieces of evidence showed that God was indeed pointing me to undertake a Dmin study. God showed me that the joint program between Global Awakening and United Theological Seminary was the second stop in my dreams, while the Global School of Supernatural Ministry was the missed first stop. Even though the dream was from God, I had a wrong interpretation of it. The Holy Spirit, through the internal witness, other dreams, prophecy and environmental factors, allowed me to understand God's guidance.    Due to my misunderstanding of God's will, I was prepared to give up my translation business in order to go into full-time ministry. However, though many dreams, God led me to continue my translation business. In a dream, one of my earliest business clients spoke to me to continue my translation business, because clients trusted me. After that, I also received a prophecy saying that God wanted me to continue the translation business. It would not only provide for me financially, but also train me in leadership skills so that I would be able to manage bigger areas of service to the Lord in time to come. God's goal for my business was not making me an entrepreneur, but teaching me basic business skills and organizational management capabilities. This dream and prophecy helped me understand God's will. As a result, I continued my translation business so that I could continue to develop these skills.   This testimony shows that God speaks in many ways. He speaks through the Holy Spirit's still small voice and the internal witness. In my case, God's voice led me to get more education. However, my natural mind was a hindrance. I misinterpreted God's guidance, thinking that God intended for me to give up everything so he could pour out His Spirit on me. When God answered our prayers for a child, I wanted to honor my side of the promise and give up everything. However, God used visions and prophecies, as well as environmental factors (my wife's objection), to clarify his guidance. We can see that God uses many ways to speak to us and to help us understand His leading. Dreams and prophecies helped me understand God's guidance, and even though I misunderstood the dreams at first, God used more dreams, prophecies and environmental factors to help me understand His intentions.     Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved   Acts 2:14-21 talks about Joel's prophecy, placing special emphasis on the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on all flesh. When the Holy Spirit was poured out, “sons and daughters shall prophesy”, “young men shall see visions” and “old men shall dream dreams” (verse 17). God says, “even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.” (vs. 18)   And that's not all. Verse 21 says, “And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Revelations 19:10 says, “for the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy.” The essence of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus. Paul added that the purpose of prophesy was to “speak to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.” Since dreams, visions and prophecies are tools God uses to encourage, console, and build us up, we should not blindly reject them. Instead, we should learn how to use them appropriately.   Recognize the Risen Christ and Peter's work   In Acts 2:22-47, Peter preaches about the risen Christ. At one time, Peter had failed to recognize the risen Christ. But in this passage, he speaks about the risen Christ and brings thousands of people to salvation. To be able to do the work God has called us to, we need to experience the real and risen Christ. This chapter describes the beginning of Peter's beginning of apostleship. Later in Acts, Paul appears on the scene. The work of Peter and Paul are two main themes of the book of Acts, which we will discuss in detail in later passages.   To recap, we have learned about the importance of tongues, dreams and visions. A correct understanding of these truths is an important foundation to accurately interpreting the book of Acts. May the Lord open our spiritual eyes so that we don't blindly object to these spiritual matters. Instead, may we humbly learn about them and use them as tools to bless others and accomplish God's work.   Translated 7/7/2021

How do you feel about the overall shift to this type of stream?Twitch Manages To Get Out Some 'Disappointment' With Music Industry Over Latest Round Of DMCA ClaimsTwitch recently sent out an email that it had received roughly 1,000 additional DMCA takedown notices, almost all of them again over music playing in the background of recorded Twitch videos.Said Twitch in its email on Friday: “We are committed to being more transparent with you about DMCA. We recently received a batch of DMCA take down notifications with about 1,000 individual claims from music publishers.“All of the claims are for the VODs and the vast majority target streamers listening to background music while playing video games or IRL streaming. Based on the number of claims we believe these rights holders used automated tools to scan and identify copyrighted music in creators VODs and clips, which means that they will likely send further notices."Of course they will. Twitch invited them to when it showed itself to be a willing partner in treating Twitch creators like a testing ground for DMCA cluster bombs. There are platforms out there that manage to both treat DMCA requests seriously and also provide some protection, or at least communication, to its users.A few tools for creators aside, Twitch's inaction on behalf of its creative community amounted essentially to greenlighting ever more DMCA takedowns from the music industry. Any surprise at that by the Amazon-owned company is laughable.But this neutered, throwaway line from that same email is simply maddening.“This is our first such contact from the music publishing industry (there can be several owners for a single piece of music) and we are disappointed that they decided to send takedowns when we were willing and ready to speak to them about solutions.”Jacqie - Twitch acting like they are willing to talk here is kind of laughable right? AT&T said it would spin off WarnerMedia — the entertainment giant containing Warner Bros., HBO, DC Comics, and CNN, among many others — and that Discovery would take over the new company. But they didn't have a new name prepared on the day the deal was announced.AT&T and Discovery expect the merger to wrap up in mid-2022, assuming it clears regulatory hurdles. The spells I might be under will be different from yours, because you and I give different meanings to words. For example I might say “snake” and you might shutter, or wince, or perhaps squirm a little. Whereas I become more curious, more alert, and a bit excited by the word snake. This is because we live in our own realities. We have different experiences, stories, perceptions, and legends.  And now, more than ever, we live in a world where we are all under the spell that we, as individuals, are the most important beings on the planet. We believe that we are what matters. We are redefining POWER in this new world we live in and saying things like, “I am taking back my power.” Or “their words were powerful.” It is in today's day and age where our words have more “power” than ever before. SO MUCH so that we are “cancelling” people whenever they say something we disagree with. Not allowing them the chance to share their side, to explain their reasoning, or even giving them the opportunity to learn our perspective, our meanings, our perception. We hear their words, they've casted their spell, and if we don't like it we block them completely. That's pretty powerful, wouldn't you say? Knowing that someone's words, including our own words, have the power to send someone into shock or bring up a trauma is a very heavy knowing and responsibility. But that doesn't mean we should be tip-toeing around with our words; mindful of them for sure, however not silenced.  [3:00] Instead of silencing ourselves, or cancelling another, we can take our journey inwards to our own personal power and deepen our emotional intelligence. Recognizing how words, languaging and spells - as I am calling them - affect us.  For example, I may not be negatively triggered by the word “snake” but believe you me, if we're talking about any rodent on the planet I am not interested. Instead of reacting emotionally to this languaging, I can choose to respond instead.  A reaction might look like me quickly getting upset, projecting my fears and insecurities and shock onto the other person. Where as a response could be a calm comment to say something along the lines of: I appreciate your enthusiasm in this conversation, however I really do not enjoy rodents and would very much prefer to change the conversation topic.  Now you might be laughing or rolling your eyes right now and that's okay. This is information about how my words are affecting you right now. Maybe you're nodding along - remember we have different realities, and not everyone will agree with us.  [4:25] Not everyone will share the same level of emotional intelligence, which means we have to be willing to be disliked. It's true! Did that trigger you? Are you under the spell that you have to be liked by everyone? Something to think about… the different kinds of spells we are under. The “not enough spell,” the blaming others spell, there are many spells out there! When we are emotionally intelligent, we are able to manage our energy. We're able to catch our reaction and transform it into a response.  And as a side note, if I'm talking about Emotional Intelligence and you've never heard this term before, read this BOOK: Emotional Intelligence. It is a MUST-READ for every human being on the planet. I highly recommend this book, I have read it and listened to it, and I'm sure I will re-read it again.  [5:30] Okay, coming back to managing energy. Every single thing we do is a negotiation of our power. Every thought, word spoken, every action taken. We give and take power each and every day. We give our power away when we yell at the person who cut us off in traffic. We take our power back when we honour our boundaries and stick to our core values. Do you want to know the secret to being okay with being disliked? It's having a set of values that we DO NOT COMPROMISE.  Core values. Our core values are our fundamental beliefs. When we are clear of these values, when we think, speak and act from these values we are honouring them. We are honouring ourselves. Be so clear on what those values are, so unshakable in them that no matter who or what comes at you, you have this strong foundation.  There is a great bonus episode with Sonia Grossi about core values and leadership. [7:04] So far we have learned about spells, we have learned that we are Spell-Casters, and we are ALSO Shapeshifters. We control our realities, we shape our own realities. And when we learn to manage our energies, we are also shape shifting. Pretty cool right! This information is all very cool, and all very important, and here's what else we need to know: How to break spells. You might think that the way to break a spell is to change your mindset, but this will only help you visualize it. The mindset is important, but it's not as powerful as CHOOSING a different behaviour. You have to DO. We have to TAKE ACTION to break the spell. [8:11] It's so similar to The Law of Attraction and the Manifestation Formula. We talk a lot about manifesting on this podcast, so I will link to a few Manifestation episodes: Bonus Episode: Tapping into the Unconscious Mind to Manifest Dreams and Avoid Burnout  Episode #83: 3 Magical Manifestation Magnifiers Episode #56: The Beginner's Guide to Manifesting The Law of Attraction tells us that what we think in our minds, we can manifest into our realities. This is why our mindset is so important, are thoughts are indeed very powerful, however they alone cannot break spells The Manifestation Formula is: Thoughts = Feelings = Actions = Results Many of us get stuck in the cycle of: thoughts feelings, thoughts feelings, thoughts feelings. Because we are so caught in our spell that our thoughts and feelings cannot beak us out of the spells we are under. Taking action however, choosing a different behaviour CAN.  It sounds quite simple, but the work itself is often more difficult. How do we change our behaviour? [9: is 32] Here are three key tips: Start small. I used to drive to work the same way every single day. There are many ways that I can drive to work, but for some reason I always went the same way. I did this so frequently that I actually would catch myself at work and not even remembering how I got here. Talk about not being present. It was one day where I found myself on autopilot that I decided I needed to change something very small in my routine. I decided to turn left at the stop sign instead of going straight. Crazily enough this was a lot more difficult than I imagined! I would catch myself driving through the stop sign and slapping my steering wheel with how annoyed I was that I couldn't easily make this ONE simple behaviour change. Eventually I was able to make the change even to the point where now I sometimes go straight, and other times I DECIDE to turn left. It's the power of my choosing my behaviour instead of being held under a spell. Simple example I know, but it's important to start small. Write down your plan. Put a physical pen to a physical piece of paper. There is power in writing things down, especially goals and dreams. Thinking of your goal is great, but when we write it down we are taking action in a physical way. Even if it has nothing to do with your goal. For example: I was under the spell that I couldn't workout at home. Home workouts sucked and I really didn't want to lift weights in the garage. FOR MONTHS this spell was casted on me. Over time my body and mind suffered from the lack of physical exercise. I was tired, slow, unmotivated, and I knew I need to change my behaviour and really break the spell. So I started by writing down my to-do list for the day and I added “home workout” onto the list. I wrote it down, I saw it there and then I started taking action on my to-do list. I even tried to trick myself to skip the workout but I didn't. I made the choice to DO the workout and I did! Since then I've scheduled the workouts into my calendar twice a week. This week I couldn't workout on Monday because of a sudden schedule change, so I moved it to Friday! This is a big one: Identify triggers + replacement habits. Sometimes the spell we're under is something we are doing but we want to stop doing. For example, I want to stop scrolling or checking my phone in bed. A trigger is when I forget to do my French lesson on my app and I bring my phone into the bedroom so I can do it there. A replacement is charging my phone in the bathroom, doing my French lesson before going to bed when I'm brushing my teeth instead. Another replacement could be putting a book beside my bed instead of my phone so that I read instead of scroll.  [14:17] The change of behaviour itself is very fast. The decision to change the behaviour takes a little longer. Why is this? Well it's because we believe this in our reality. We believe the spell is true, we let the spell trick us into believing the limiting beliefs, the obstacles that keep us stuck under the spells. It's up to us to channel our powers into breaking the spell by using the power to take-action. It's about using our power to make changes and using it to manage our energy so that we can develop our emotional intelligence, break out spells, and be mindful how we are also spell-casters.  Not all spells are bad though. Sometimes we can trick ourselves out of one belief so that we can bring ourselves to belief something else. Something more empowering.  As your take-away for this week's episode I want to encourage you to bring more awareness into your thoughts, words, actions. And also pay attention to the words and actions of others. Save the judgement and rather use this all as information about how we are going around casting or breaking spells. Question the spells you are under. Hailing from Birmingham, Thomas tells me about studying physics at Oxford University and meeting many Germans there. Crazily, he graduated into the 2008 global recession and started doing student jobs in Germany, including one for an online dating platform!   He has spent 8 years in the country thus far, and describes Hamburg's cosmopolitan vibe: a happy medium between being having all of the amenities of a major city without feeling completely anonymous.   After doing a series of student jobs, he entered the game design industry with InnoGames in 2013. He talks about how the company paid for his relocation and language classes, and offers regular after-work activities - many of which have migrated to the online environment due to the pandemic!   We spend some time dispelling common myths around British "sophistication", and describing our experiences in The Reeperbahn: Hamburg's 'Red Light District'. Thomas also shares the aspect of Hamburg life that has won him over completely!   He details the study methods he used for learning German vocabulary, idioms, etc., and how learning the finer nuances of a language fosters a change in mindset! This episode we don our rose-tinted glasses and have a long, nostalgic chat about the space opera game to end all space opera games, Star Wars. The movies have been around for over forty years, and the West End games version of the RPG hit the shelves over thirty years ago. Crazily, it was this game, more than anything else, that shaped the Star Wars universe we know today. Crazily its coming up fast to a year since I announced I'm going to run the Classic Quarter in 2021. This episode is a mid-January stock take. Where am I now, how am I feeling, what am I planning in the next few months.

There's a giant ice disk hanging out in the Presumpscot River in Westbrook, Maine that's garnered international attention, and rightfully so - it's an extremely rare phenomenon and this is one of the biggest ever recorded. Crazily, the ice disk is spinning completely on its own. Gun Control is a sticky, tricky, very bad no good topic and I feel like we're up to our necks in quicksand and the NRA and special interest groups are shoveling my sand in our face as we try to dig ourselves free. I grew up with a bunch of Jews reading books, who could barely hook up a VCR to the TV if their life depended on it, let alone kill a deer, so far be it from me to understand the kind of mentality one would have to need to protect the right to personally own something that can kill. I don't like guns because I am the kind of nit wit who would accidentally remove herself from the gene pool by shooting herself, and end up looking like Goldie Hawn in Death Becomes Her. Listen, I get it, they're sexy, and they make your clit tingle just a lil bit, but that doesn't mean I think that anyone should have them. I'm not going to even toss my hat in the ring and voice my opinion more than say they scare me and I think that any kind of automatic ANYTHING should be off the market and carry heavy penalities in a Federal Pound You in the Ass prison if you get caught dealing or buying one. Anyhoo I met Desert John, a semi permanent resident of Slab City the first day I arrived at the Midnight Riders Bike Gang Orgy of Explosions and Fire festival (this is not the name but a very accurate description). Desert John is a wonderful, warm, endearing god fearing Jesus loving man who just so happens to have 45 guns with him at all times. He also drives a mad max Dune Buggy and looks like he's an extra from Tombstone. He rocks. The second day of the festival he took me and a bunch of adorable young Israeli's who had accidentally stumbled upon this gathering (they were just trying to go camping) to the "gun range" which was literally just a wide stretch of sand with 1000 spray paint cans set up to blow up with giant black powder powered civil war muskets. Crazily, when we got there was a whole crew of dudes who were also there to practice their ENORMOUS GIANT TERRIBLY SCARY storm trooper lookin 308 custom built assault rifles and a KRISS Vector 9 mm semi automatic recoil suppression rifles and naturally I sauntered up to them with my microphone and As per usual, I got to talking to them about why they loved these weapons so very much, and if in fact it was to correct for having a small impotent penis...I'm smart. Always good to insult the guys with the very largest gun who has literally matched his whole outfit and accessories to the colors of his gun that could take down a TREX. Listen, I'm all about protecting fundamental rights, but fuck this one. But lets be honest, I have motivation for learning how to shoot guns because I am painfully aware that when the next civil war comes, all the liberal loser pansies like me are going to become the sex slaves of the new red neck overlords, THAT IS unless we get our own guns and know how to use them. So I'm starting to train now. Duh, logic. You're welcome intellectuals. When shit hits the fan come find me, I will be Lara Croft levels of ready. On May 3rd, 2016, Fetty Wap will join the ranks of an overwhelmingly large crowd of celebrities that have ventured into the video game world. Called Fetty Wap: Nitro Nation Stories, the mobile app title is a racing game developed by Estonia’s Creative Mobile and New Jersey’s Moor Games. In it, players are able to race friends, compete for real cash prizes, or play single player mode and solve mysteries all while listening to hits from Fetty himself. Crazily enough, it actually doesn’t sound too terrible — at least, from a story and graphic design perspective. First impressions tell me that Fetty Wap’s game, although perhaps not very innovative, appears to be well-made; adding his face seems to be less of a last minute addition and more of the driving force, as it appears to be centered around him. That being said, it’s still a mobile app, meaning that it’s most likely designed to routinely capitalize off players in some way. I can only surmise that the player’s experience is secondary to the company’s monetary gain and that the detailed scenes and passable graphics are just a ruse to squeeze a few dollars out of those with a disposable income, low impulse control, and twitchy finger.
