John Batchelor is the host of the Friends of History Debating Society. He broadcasts from New England, where he is currently entering autumn, contrasting with Jeremy Zakis's springtime in New South Wales. He refers to Jeremy Zakisas his "good mate." Batchelor often guides the conversation with Jeremy Zakis, asking about: Dallas and the bird collection, noting Dallas's role as a "social worker" or "foreign affairs" diplomat. He initiates the discussion by asking about the "bird collection" and if it has "changed its order of battle." The upcoming Ashes cricket series, asking what to look for, the impact of Perth's hot weather, and the role of superstitions and player management. He expresses eagerness to cover the Ashes preparation "very carefully," noting he "hasn't had a chance to do this before." Batchelor notes that discussing springtime with Jeremy is "far more interesting" than preparing his own garden for winter's colder days. He also discusses python sightings, specifically mentioning a photograph of two pythons battling on a library roof on the Sunshine Coast, questioning if such an event is ordinary for an urban area. He emphasizes that he is in New England, in the "northern temperate zone," while Jeremy Zakis is in the "southern temperate zone."

Hey Clutterbugs! This episode is all about decoding the secret link between your love language and the clutter driving you nuts. Think of your home as a love letter to yourself—except sometimes it's written in messy handwriting! We're chatting about how your emotional needs (hello, Acts of Service lovers and Gift-Giving hoarders!) shape your clutter habits, why that pile of “maybe someday” clothes is really a cry for affirmation, and how to turn your space into a sanctuary that actually loves you back. I'll spill how my mother-in-law's not-so-subtle love language book gift 23 years ago changed my marriage, and tell you why decluttering isn't about perfection—it's about making room for what truly fills your cup. Whether you're a Physical Touch avoider (guilty!) or a Quality Time host drowning in doom rooms, we've got laughs, “aha!” moments, and real-talk tips to align your home with your heart. Plus, I'm answering YOUR questions—like how to stop knitting needles from taking over your couch and why merging a Ladybug's chaos with a Cricket's minimalism is totally possible. In this episode of the show, Binksy, Baldy, Raj and Stu discuss the white-ball series between South Africa & England, NZ A's tour to South Africa and Ross Taylor's return to the international arena. We start the show by talking about South Africa continuing to impress across all formats, this time in a white-ball series against England. Aiden Markram at the top of the order has been well supported by a powerful and dynamic middle order of Matthew Breetzke, Tristan Stubbs and Dewalt Brevis as the Proteas surged to a 2-0 series lead. Throw in impressive displays from Keshav Maharaj and the rest of the bowling attack and South Africa looks a side that shapes as a strong contender for the upcoming World Cups. Turning our attention to England, we wonder whether Jamie Overton's decision to step back from Test cricket is a sign of things to come, and also assess where the holes are in this current ODI squad. The praise for the Proteas continues in the next segment as we talk about NZ's A tour to South Africa, as it has been a good week to be a Hermann brother. The home side took the 50-over series 2-1 thanks to runs galore from Rubin and Jordan, with Dale Phillips's 147 the shining light for New Zealand's batting display. To round out the show, we discuss Ross Taylor's decision to come out of international retirement to play for Samoa in the upcoming East Asia-Pacific qualifiers for the ICC T20 World Cup along with Sean Solia and the rest of the squad. Aside from it being a heartwarming story, it also raised a few questions for us about the international eligibility rules. Would it be good for the game to reduce the stand-down period? Or would that simply lead to manipulation? We'll be back in your feed again next week to discuss more stories from the world of cricket, including the Asia Cup as well as more of the South Africa series.
