"I may be a drape, but I love your granddaughter. And if that's a crime, I'll stand convicted, ma'am." We watched "Cry-Baby", directed by John Waters, with our friend and rockabilly expert Janelle, and there's nothing the matter with our faces - we've got character! Listen, John Waters movies are camp, trash, queer, drag, cinema classics, and "Cry-Baby" is a prime example. Johnny Depp broke out of TV jail (it was the late 80's/early 90's) and jumped onto the big screen in the first of his quirky character choices playing Wade "Cry-Baby" Walker. Cry-Baby and his gang of "drapes" are played by the coolest group of weirdos this side of "Pink Flamingos." We spend a good deal gushing over how cool the gang is, including a sizable moment dissecting Traci Lords' voluminous hairdo. Waters' knack for casting is ever-present, featuring the likes of Susan Tyrell, Iggy Pop, Joe Dallesandro, Troy Donahue, and the feature debut of one Patricia Hearst. Get transported with us to Baltimore of the early 1960's and watch Johnny Depp in 501's (and a good portion in just tighty-whities) strut around with juvenile delinquents, squares, and a cast of colorful outcasts. Maybe a crybaby bridge? It turns out these haunted bridges are all over the U.S. While the origins may vary, the end results are usually the same. A bridge where locals go to chase the ghosts of children or their mothers who met a tragic fate. Ohio has one in every county! So listen to our tales and tell us: have you ever visited a Crybaby Bridge?

On January 6th, of 2020, tonight's guest, Ernie Pack, had his first Bigfoot sighting while he was in a cemetery, on top of Mitchell Hill, in Jefferson County, Kentucky. He was doing a paranormal investigation there, at the time, with his wife, Denise. The area where they'd chosen to do their investigation is known by locals for being haunted. In fact, there's a legend about the area that stemmed from people hearing what they thought was a baby crying in forests around that area. The night Ernie and Denise had their first Sasquatch sighting, they were trying to locate the grave of a spirit they'd been interacting with in that area. At that time, neither Ernie nor Denise were sure if Sasquatch were even a reality. That was about to change and change in a big way. You see, after what happened to them that night, both Ernie and Denise are almost obsessed with investigating Sasquatch. Fast forward almost 6 years since the night Ernie and Denise had that experience and they've had multiple other sightings and encounters. On tonight's show, Ernie is going to tell you about them. We hope you'll tune in and listen to him do that.Ernie and Denise founded a paranormal research team called Packman Paranormal. If you'd like to visit the Packman Paranormal Facebook page, which we hope you will, please visit…https://www.facebook.com/packmanparanormal/Tonight's second guest, Wendell Burroughs, founded Foukelore Bigfoot Investigations. His interest in Sasquatch didn't really take of until he was 13 or 14 years old. He'd been squirrel hunting when he heard vocalizations he'd never heard before by a creek. Fast forward to 2014. Wendell had traveled to Fouke, Arkansas to look for the Boggy Creek monster. One of the nights Wendell and his team were there, they had just come around a bend on one of the back roads in Boggy Creek, when they saw a big, black, hairy creature that was walking on two legs cross the road and run into the woods. That was Wendell's first sighting but it wasn't his last one. He's had multiple sightings and we hope you'll tune in to listen to him share them on tonight's show.If you've had a Sasquatch sighting in Arkansas that you'd like to report to Wendell, at Foukelore Bigfoot Investigations, please visit the Foukelore Bigfoot Investigations Facebook Page…https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090678214926To visit the Arkansas Bigfoot Cartel Facebook Page, please go to…https://www.facebook.com/groups/546090742639237/If you've had a Bigfoot sighting and would like to be a guest, on the show, please go to https://MyBigfootSighting.com and let us know. What happens when we swap our desperate (conditioned) grasping for certainty for a curious(ly awkward) embrace of confusion? This episode invites you into a radical reframing of confusion—not as weakness or failure, but as an appropriate, even necessary response to our rapidly changing world. Cultural messaging tells us confusion should be avoided, fixed, overcome. That if we're confused, somehow we're failing life! Abso-f$%king-lutely not.Through personal stories, practical guidance, poetry, and more, let's illuminate how confusion can lead us to clarity, self-trust, and connection when approached more consciously. You'll learn to differentiate between conscious confusion and unconscious rumination, with tools to lovingly disrupt those unconscious loops. Releasing certainty and embracing conscious confusion is a practice to disorient us from the systems designed to keep us good consumers and bad rebels.Learn more about Dana & Leah's Fall Equinox retreat in Joshua Tree! This year's Budapest Pride was banned in March under the Orbán government's contentious “child protection” law. Demonstrators were threatened with hefty fines for participating, and the government said it would employ facial-recognition technology to identify and potentially prosecute those who turned out to take part at the march on 28 June. Did the ban work? Not in the slightest. In fact, more people than ever in the 30-year history of Budapest Pride showed up to celebrate their rights as LGBTQ+ human beings.  The massive Pride march brought a glimmer of hope to some Hungarian citizens, including this week's guest, writer Krisztián Marton. We spoke with Krisztián about the lead-up to the event, the thrill of being on the ground last Saturday, and what might be next for Hungary, now that Viktor Orbán finally has a formidable challenger in Péter Magyar. Shat the Movies: 80's & 90's Best Film Review

This week on Shat the Movies, we're shedding a single tear for Cry-Baby (1990)! Johnny Depp stars in John Waters' rockabilly musical that's equal parts parody, punk, and pure teen rebellion. From electric chairs to tear-streaked serenades, it's a weird, wild ride through '50s nostalgia with a twisted grin. Tune in as we dive into this cult classic and ask: was Cry-Baby cool or just confused? Plot Summary:Cry-Baby (1990), directed by John Waters, is a rockabilly musical comedy set in 1950s Baltimore, starring Johnny Depp as Wade “Cry-Baby” Walker, the leader of a group of rebellious “Drapes.” When he falls for straight-laced “Square” Allison (Amy Locane), their romance sparks a clash between their two social worlds. Packed with campy humor, catchy tunes, and Waters' signature subversive style, the film parodies teen musicals while celebrating the outsiders who refuse to conform. Elsewhere, Muse Productions in Shannon were recognised with a Special Adjudicator's Award nomination for their bold staging of Forever Plaid performed in the Hope Café in Shannon, while Shannon Musical Society also received two nominations for their high-energy production of Cry-Baby. To discuss this further, Alan Morrissey was joined by Ennis Musical Society Chairperson, Ciara Lynch, Founding member of Muse and the director of the recent award-winning production “Forever Plaid”, Martin McNelis, and outgoing Chairperson of Shannon Musical Society, Vicky Cassley. Great Pop Culture Debate

Writer, director, actor, and artist John Waters has been making avant-garde cinema since the 1960s. His movies have pushed boundaries and shocked audiences with their wild characters and surreal storylines, even as they offer piercing insights into popular American culture and society. While he experienced mainstream crossover success by the 1980s and into the 2000s, and has been embraced by many in the entertainment industry, John Waters is inherently an outsider –- and he wouldn't have it any other way. He is a unique, visionary queer voice in American cinema. So for one of our 2025 Pride specials, the Great Pop Culture Debate looks back on 8 of The Pope of Trash's most notable movies and attempts to name the Best John Waters Film. Movies discussed: Hairspray (1988), Serial Mom (1994), Pink Flamingos (1972), Cry-Baby (1990), Female Trouble (1974), Mondo Trasho (1969), Polyester (1981), Pecker (1998). Join host Eric Rezsnyak, GPCD panelist Jonny Minogue, and special guests Erin Marlow from the It's a Fandom Thing podcast, and Joshua Grannell AKA Peaches Christ, alternative drag icon and host of the Midnight Mass podcast, as they discuss 8 of the most notorious John Waters films. The show opens with something far less serious, but I think says a lot about the elitist mentality. I use a comment by Ana Navarro related to the dairy industry and it helps show everything wrong with the Leftist leaders of today. We continue with more on possible plans for how the US will assist in the operation to ensure Iran never gets a nuclear weapon. Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-TX) summaries much of what I said in my show yesterday about trusting Donald Trump. And, CNN's chief pollster, Harry Eten, says the vast majority of Americans agree with President Trump's stance. Next, we have to further examine how weak and ineffectual the men are in today's Democrat party. Rep. Alex Padilla (D-CA) tried to effectuate tears when recounting his story about trying to barge in and intimidate DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) thinks it's weak and pathetic and unbecoming of what it is to be a real man. Which brings us to the latest copycat stunt pulled by the comptroller of NYC, Brad Lander, who just so happens to be running for the Mayor of the city. He also broke the law and then cried about it. Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) used the opportunity to show she is for illegals first and New Yorkers last. Rep. Elisa Stefanik echoed those exact same thoughts. She also railed against Hochul setting aside $50 million in taxpayer dollars to help illegals with a slush fund for illegal to use to fight deportation. I remind you about the Chinese fake drivers licenses story and how then FBI Director Christopher Wray perjured himself before the Senate. Mike Benz was on Just the News and reminded us all about the close ties between the CCP and the Biden Crime Family Syndicate. The SCOTUS, in a 6-3 decision, said states can protect minors from genital mutilation and chemical castration. It should have been 9-0. CBP announces there were zero illegals who made it into our country in May of 2025. A year ago, Biden's policies allowed 62,000 to cross in May of 2024. Finally, we get a bit of comedy gold from President Trump. We learn more about why Trump calls him “Too Late” Powell, as it relates to the Fed chair Jerome Powell. This week, the boys take a look at John Waters' raucous greaser musical Cry-Baby, featuring a sexy young Johnny Depp, a sexier redneck grandmother, and the sexiest of them all, a switchblade-toting greaser affectionately named Hatchetface. But they aren't the only little freaks in attendance, because a young Willem Dafoe in a scene-stealing cameo, a leathery Iggy Pop in pure freak mode, and your two resident freaks, David and Justus, are also along for this ride through Waters' insane maximalist satire! It's Cry-Baby, this week on The Greatest Movie Ever Made!Cry-Baby (1990) is directed by John Waters and stars Johnny Depp, Amy Locane, Susan, Tyrrell, Iggy Pop, and Ricki LakeMusic: “Fractals” by Kyle Casey and White Bat Audio

Jason Reynolds writes stories that don't talk down to kids. In young adult books like "Long Way Down," "Ghost" and two Miles Morales Spider-Man novels, there is a clear understanding: kids are complicated people, and Jason treats them that way. His newest audio-only book is called "Soundtrack." He talks with Rachel about the value of being a crier and the advice about rest he got from LeVar Burton. Episode 94 — Frank Pagano: From Glen Rock to the Broadway PitIn this must-hear episode of the Broadway Drumming 101 Podcast, I sit down with legendary drummer and percussionist Frank Pagano — a true veteran of both the concert stage and the Broadway scene.Frank's career reads like a who's who of the music industry. He's played with icons like Bruce Springsteen, Bette Midler, Al Green, and Phoebe Snow. On Broadway, his credits span from Leader of the Pack and The Who's Tommy to Smokey Joe's Cafe, Cry-Baby, The Pirate Queen, Good Vibrations, Fosse, Big River, Saturday Night Fever, and more. What you'll hear in this episode:* How a 4th-grade music demo sparked Frank's lifelong love of drums.* Growing up and gigging with the Vivino brothers (yes — that Jimmy Vivino).* What it was like studying percussion at Manhattan School of Music and later with Joe Morello and Justin DiCioccio.* His unusual path to Broadway — having a chair before ever subbing.* The real reason he pivoted to Broadway full-time: marriage, fatherhood, and health insurance.* Wisdom on subbing: play their show, not yours.* Lessons from playing percussion alongside killer drummers like Brian Brake.* Touring vs. pit life — the physical grind of the road versus the stability of Broadway.* How working with artists like Laura Nyro and Bruce Springsteen shaped his perspective on artistry and professionalism.* Advice for drummers who want to make it in New York: “Play with everyone. Play everything. Be early. Be likable. Be ready.”Frank's reflections on time, groove, and what it really means to be musical are some of the best insights I've heard on this show. This episode is for any drummer who wants to play on Broadway — and stay there.Watch more episodes on YouTubeListen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcastsLearn more about Frank Pagano: https://www.frankpagano.com/bioClayton Craddock founded Broadway Drumming 101, an in-depth online platform offering specialized mentorship and a carefully curated collection of resources tailored for aspiring and professional musicians.Clayton's Broadway and Off-Broadway credits include tick, tick…BOOM!, Altar Boyz, Memphis The Musical, Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, Ain't Too Proud – The Life and Times of The Temptations, Cats: The Jellicle Ball, and The Hippest Trip: The Soul Train Musical.
