I'm joined by Lyle Lewis, former endangered species biologist and author of Racing to Extinction: Why Humanity Will Soon Vanish. We discuss his decades long career working under the US Department of the Interior, the various bureaucratic hurdles that stood in the way of protecting and preserving endangered species, and why Lewis holds a unique position to describe why, and how, the human species will, in a relatively short time, face extinction. // Support the work + listen to the full interview: https://www.patreon.com/lastborninthewilderness
Welcome to Daily Devotion with Pastor Balla for June 30, 2025. Today's devotion from Ecclesiastes 12:6–8, titled “Life's Final Chapter,” reflects on the profound imagery of life's fragility and the certainty of death. Solomon's poetic words remind us that we are dust, returning to the God who made us, and that all earthly pursuits are vanity without Him. Yet in Christ, death is not the end but the doorway to eternal life. This devotion offers comfort and hope through the Gospel, pointing to Jesus who conquered the grave and gives us victory beyond the grave. Whether you are reflecting on mortality, seeking peace about life's end, or growing in your Lutheran faith, this devotion will anchor you in God's promises.

It's Friday the 13th and you know what that means. We're continuing our critical look at our favorite of the slasher movie franchises, Friday the 13th. Jason is back, wouldn't you know it? He has, without explanation, endured an axe wound to the head and made his way back to his home turf of Crystal Lake for another round of murder and mayhem. By 1983 the slasher movie wave crashed and by 1984 it was receding but the kids just couldn't stay away as The Final Chapter promised one last showdown for the ages. Little did they know about the fuel that moves the Hollywood machinery and the effect that a solid box office return can have. Chop Jason up into little pieces all you like, they'll always find a new way to bring him back for another movie. This movie holds a special place in Bryan's heart but then again, so did part 2. The Final Chapter may be the most cynical of the Friday the 13th sequels. How does it hold up to Bring Me The Axe scrutiny? Humanity, empathy, and respecting patient wishes are paramount when navigating the complexities of end-of-life care. In this episode of Straight Outta Health IT, Gil Bashe, Chair of Global Health and Purpose for FINN Partners, delves into these sensitive topics. Drawing from his unique background as a combat medic, ordained clergy member, and health innovation advocate, Gil discusses the crucial, yet often misunderstood, differences between palliative care, hospice care, and end-of-life planning. He clarifies that palliative care focuses on improving comfort and quality of life at any point during a serious illness, potentially alongside curative treatments. Hospice care, conversely, is typically reserved for the final stages, Gil explains, when the focus shifts entirely to comfort and dignity, often requiring additional medical support but tailored to the individual's needs and choices. Host Christopher Kunney shares poignant family experiences, grounding the conversation in real-life challenges. Together, they explore the emotional difficulties faced by patients, families, and even clinicians in initiating these necessary conversations and making decisions, highlighting the discomfort many doctors feel. Gil also strongly emphasizes the enduring importance of human connection, intuition, and empathy over purely technological solutions, urging listeners to prepare emotionally and spiritually, perhaps even through letters, alongside legal documents like living wills. Tune in and learn why understanding these distinctions and respecting a patient's final wishes are essential aspects of compassionate care!

This week, we're revisiting the infamous fifth installment of the Friday the 13th franchise: A New Beginning! The film that dared to continue Jason Voorhees' legacy without the man himself. Set five years after the events of The Final Chapter, this entry follows a troubled Tommy Jarvis as he grapples with trauma and a new wave of murders at a halfway house for troubled teens. While the hockey mask returns, the man behind it is not who you'd expect, leading to one of the series' most controversial twists. "I had no sexual energy. I couldn't feel anything. That's when I knew—we were siphoned."In this final and explosive interview of the Bewitched series, Baljit Rayat steps forward with a harrowing story that spans nearly two decades. As the first student to ever learn the Akashic Records from Betty, Baljit didn't just witness the rise of a spiritual leader—she lived through the full descent into chaos, control, and cult-like manipulation. What began in 2006 as a path of spiritual awakening and mentorship slowly evolved into a twisted entanglement of gaslighting, psychosis, and psychic entrapment. Baljit recounts the signs she missed, the energy shifts she ignored, and the moments when her body began showing symptoms—weight gain, lost libido, mental fog—of being psychically infiltrated. But nothing prepared her for the Santa Fe retreat, where psychodrama erupted, euphoria blurred into confusion, and something darker came through under the guise of sacred ritual. From being telepathically pressured to rejoin programs, Baljit unveils how Betty's tactics became coercive, paranoid, and surreal. She opens up about the soul-crushing aftermath, the moment she finally blocked Betty, and the freedom that followed. This episode is about reclaiming your energy, breaking the spell, and waking up to the truth.TODAY'S HIGHLIGHTS(00:00) Intro(00:52) In Today's Episode...Baljit Rayat and the Final Chapter(02:11) Upcoming Episode: 11 Patterns of Manipulation and Personality Profiling(03:32) The Metamorphosis(05:02) Welcoming Baljit's Unique Perspective(07:10) Baljit's First Steps with Betty and Initial Red Flags(12:28) The Shift and The Pandemic Impact(17:51) Spiritual Psychosis and The Santa Fe Retreat(24:10) The Blue Lotus Tea and Mind Games(31:14) The Santa Fe Aftermath - Bye Betty, You're Hijacked(36:59) Croatia and The Male Entity(46:49) Cult-Like Behavior(52:57) Unveiling Hidden Transformations, Psychic Attacks, and Targeting(55:26) The Shift in Energy - Who's Above Betty?(58:06) Trauma Bonding, Infiltration, and Revelations(01:05:21) Psychological and Energetic Insights(01:07:47) The San Diego Trauma Reveal(01:16:28) Galactic Interference - The Portal is Open(01:23:49) Who Made You, Betty?(01:27:30) Betty's Training System Exposed(01:39:11) Where Do We Go From Here?**WAYS TO ENTER MY WORLD** When you leave a review of the podcast, send us a screenshot and we'll send you a $250 credit, you can apply to anything else in my world. Brad Jones is the creator of the The Cinema Snob and The Bruno Mattei shows, which are popular on You Tube. His love for exploitation films led him to produce several exploitation films: "Midnight Heat", "Cheap", "Freak Out" and "Game Boys". The last three can be found on his website and the trailers for the rest of the movies can be also found there. The Cinema Snob is a show inspired by the 1980s review of "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter" by Siskel and Ebert. In it, Siskel seemed to get on a soapbox and saw the movie for more than what it really was by calling it the be all, end all for teenage entertainment. And that " it does nothing but teach young people that life is not worth living because you'll just die in the end." In the end, Brad simply said it was just a slasher flick and decided to write and edit his own videos.Brad also wrote two book, The class 86 and Batpussy books about the exploitation with a new twist.Support the show

How do decades of spiritual practice shape your heart when death comes knocking? In this powerful episode, we hear from our longtime friend Yasso who, after forty years of devotion, is now facing terminal illness with stunning clarity and peace. What makes this conversation especially moving is how Yasso's fearless, attitude of gratitude so closely mirrors the timeless wisdom of Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, where the dying King Parīkṣit embraces his final days with devotion, humility, and total absorption in the divine. Also in this episode: the epic homecoming of Lord Ram and the tear-jerking reunion with his brother Bharat, whose 14 years of radical simplicity (cow urine barley, anyone?) reflect the deepest brotherly devotion—zero envy, all love. And we also explore how devotional art can lift consciousness, using a vivid verse from the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam as our canvas. This one goes deep—real life, real death, and real bhakti. Key Highlights: * A rare window into how a bhakti yogi prepares to leave this world * Lord Ram returns to Ayodhya—no one has ever waved a chadar with more love * No envy, no ego—just love: the bond between Ram and Bharat * Why Krishna art > overpriced splatter art * Chant Hare Krishna and don't criticize. Boom. That's it.

SPOILER ALERT: I share the ending of Moby Dick in detail as I deliver my analysis of the lessons, insights, and relevancy shared in the final chapters.
