I am really excited to introduce you to Megan Chen, a 16 year old from Delaware who has not only written a children's book but also runs her own non-profit, The Urban Garden Initiative. Urban areas account for between 60 and 80 percent of the world’s energy consumption and generate as much as 70 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions. Cities are also prone to an increased number of climate events, food sustainability issues, and much more. TUGI's mission is to inspire and empower youth to achieve urban sustainability though a gardening-based educational program. On this episode I speak with Megan, a human who rediscovered herself in the sex positive communities. She continues to explore uninhibited and with devious curiosity. After ending an engagement with a high school sweetheart Megan embarks on yes weekend into an all-out slutty whirlwind that reignites her joie de vivre. She’s not quite sure where or how she fits into the sex positive communities but she knows it’s where she belongs. Megan may be undecided about the labels but not about how sex positivity has brought her out of a toxic relationship and into a world filled with kink, sex, fun, love, and friendship. So just because, she’s gonna marry her best friend. Between all this, we talk about polyamory, love, making love, waterboarding, and nearly drowning three times. In the last episode I assured you that I am NOT a natural athlete. But I AM a marathoner-- running is one of my biggest passions outside of what I do for work and my family, and the world of sports nutrition can be hugely confusing, triggering and downright negative when it comes to body positivity and the pressure to look and eat a certain way to perform better or be a better athlete. So how do we reconcile our desire to live active lives or be athletes while still eating intuitively and embracing Health at Every Size? In today's episode I had an incredible conversation with Megan Medrano, RD, LD about approaching sports nutrition from a body positive, weight neutral and intuitive eating space. This one is a must-listen for active women and women who want to live more active lives, no matter what their body size. Countless people struggle to see themselves in a positive light, and women face specific challenges to their self-esteem. In this week's episode I talk with licensed professional counselor Megan MacCutcheon about her Self-Esteem Workbook for Women. Self-esteem has become a rather polarizing idea, in part because high self-esteem is often portrayed as "believing you are perfectly awesome," as this article in the Harvard Business Review says. But it all depends on how you define self-esteem, according to my guest. Megan's nuanced definition is nearly indistinguishable from supposedly better alternatives like "self-compassion," suggesting that the more controversial versions of self-esteem are straw-man caricatures. Megan and I explored the crucial distinction between positive self-esteem and narcissism, as well as the relation between self-esteem and self-compassion, self-confidence, and self-love. We also considered topics including: The lack of education about proper psychological self-care Specific challenges to women's self-esteem What it means to take responsibility for one's self-esteem The effects of practicing kindness toward oneself Why it's often so hard for us to recognize our own worth Where low self-esteem might come from Why healthy self-esteem must come from within Common effects of parenthood on self-esteem The importance of accepting our parental imperfections The possibility of loving ourselves, limitations and flaws included Choosing the right measuring stick for ourselves Whether the pursuit of gender equality is actually beneficial to women's self-esteem How to use self-talk to build healthier self-esteem Leading with action to build confidence The role of body posture in self-image I hope you enjoy our conversation and I look forward to your comments. Megan MacCutcheon is a registered licensed professional counselor with a practice in Vienna, VA. She received her BS in communication from Boston University and her Master of Education in community agency counseling from George Mason University. Megan is a topic expert and blogger on GoodTherapy.org and has experience as a therapist and domestic violence systems advocate at The Women's Center in Vienna, VA, and as a child psychiatric specialist at the Children's National Medical Center. "We all start somewhere." When Megan Fairchild started dancing at 4 years old, she didn't know she would become a principal dancer on the world-renown New York City Ballet. I had the pleasure of talking with Megan Fairchild today about her take on some of the key factors that affect human happiness. We talked about positive emotions like inspiration and hope, we discussed resilience and diversifying your friendships, she talked about how her practice of meditation transformed her life at critical moments. She described the transcendence of flow experience during a full-length ballet performance. She talked about the mind-body connection and how much that affects her happiness. Ultimately she talked about how her mission in life is to push herself outside of her comfort zone no matter your age or stage of life. It's sex and relationship week on Life Amplified. One of the biggest complaints in relationships is the lack of sex. Why do two people that were so into each other at first seem to fall away from intimacy? This week, Dan sits down with his dear friend Megan Riley, a sexual empowerment coach and the host of the podcast The Woman's Guide to the Orgasmic Life. Her insight into this topic will surprise you. This conversation started with talking about sex and how to ignite that hot passion, but it really goes in a different direction. And by the end of it, you'll learn that deep down, it's not about the sex. It's so much more than that. What ignites the flame between lovers is something inside of us that sometimes we seem to forget about: passion. And not the hot, steamy passion in bed. But the passion we have for ourselves and life. Topics on this week's podcast include...Why the lack of sex in a relationship is rarely about sex.The daily routine for both men and women to help you let go of stress and be present at home with your partner. The three magic words that will help a masculine partner connect with his feminine partner. The gateways to physical intimacy for both men and women. The importance of a masculine partner knowing their purpose and how it makes them irresistible to their feminine partner. Why it's important for a woman to know her needs in order for them to get met in a relationship.'What the goddess hour is and why it's an important weekly moment for women. The personal responsibility to love yourself the way you expect your partner to love you.The three vital components to make your partner feel seen and valued in a relationship.Megan's 24 hour foreplay rule.**************************************************** Find Megan at her website: meganmriley.com Find Megan on Instagram: @Megan.M.Riley ****************************************************** Join the Life Amplified Power Tribe and talk to Dan about this week's episode: facebook.com/groups/lifeamplified Join Dan on July 29th for a special talk on Long Island: https://www.eventsbywcgl.com/events/transformational-lunch-with-life-coach-dan-mason Learn more about Dan and how he can help you add more purpose, fulfillment, and joy in ALL aspects of your life at creativesoulcoaching.net Be social with Dan on Instagram and Twitter: @CSCDanMason Learn more about your ad-choices at https://news.iheart.com/podcast-advertisers
