Todd Westra is a leadership alignment expert, founder of the Growth and Scaling Podcast, and creator of the Growth Readiness Framework. Renowned for guiding CEOs, COOs, and CFOs to align strategy and execution, Todd helps mid-sized organizations unlock smarter, sustainable growth. With a deep understanding of leadership dynamics and operational challenges, Todd partners with firms at inflection points, unraveling misalignment and cultivating clarity. His process-driven approach empowers teams, clarifies decision-making, and transforms companies from stagnation to forward momentum enabling leaders and their organizations to reach ambitious new milestones. In this episode of Marketer of the Day, Todd Westra joins Robert Plank to uncover the crucial role of leadership alignment in business growth and scaling. Todd shares actionable insights from his journey as a founder, consultant, and podcast host, illustrating how divergent leadership visions can quietly stall progress even in successful, well-funded teams. He describes his signature alignment exercises and deep-dive assessments, revealing how honest conversations, data-driven strategies, and a willingness to detach from old patterns can create breakthrough results. Through lively discussion and memorable stories, Todd demonstrates how to move a company from launch mode through realignment, toward true operational excellence. Listeners will learn why self-awareness, role clarity, and robust feedback loops are essential for building sustainable growth, strong exits, and lasting team harmony. Quotes: "Most growth is stifled not because they have a bad idea, not because they don't have market fit, but because the leadership is not aligned on which path they're going down." "If you want to be market leaders, if you want a strong exit, you've got to align, and then it works out better for everybody." "No success can compensate for failure in the home." At just seventeen, Lars Westra speaks with the clarity of someone who's spent a lifetime being underestimated. At twelve, he stood before a room full of adults to ask them to take children seriously and was told to go play football. Instead, he chose to play a different game: one that challenges the rules of who gets to speak and who gets to be heard. With gratitude not for what he's been given, but for what he's discovered, which is the power of persistence, perspective, and voice, Lars reminds us that change doesn't wait for permission. It begins the moment we decide to listen.Featured in 'The Courage Edition' of AwareNow Magazine: www.awarenowmagazine.comGuest: Lars WestraHost: Allié McGuireMusic by: Ardie SonProduced by: AwareNow Media

The troupe took a short break to spend some quality time with their companions. Tyler tried his new winged boots and got a flying lesson from Ivan, New Rogue spent his time praying and chatting with Westra and Jack Magnum to make sure they didn't eat too much, Del taught DDX how to play Go Fish, and then they were set upon by the Gravewalker's army. Del swiftly destroyed Shadow Nemesis's body to keep his items away from the Gravewalker, and they all died only to wake up to a now naked and furious Shadow Nemesis. Will the troupe, with Shadowmaster's assistance, be able to convince Shadow Nemesis to choose the path of good? Ever feel like you're navigating the property market blindfolded? You're not alone. Claire Westra, our guest on Dashdot Insider, has been there. She went all-in on a DIY approach, thinking she could handle it solo—until she found herself frustrated with a property in Toowoomba that sat stagnant for a whole year. Her first property investment in Brisbane brought some early success, but when the stock market crash hit, it made her rethink everything. That's when she realised the real cost of relying on emotions and outdated market data. Claire found Dashdot, and suddenly, everything changed. Using predictive data and a team of experts, she stopped guessing and started investing. Her goals shifted, too—from dreaming of a forever home to focusing on building a life that gave her freedom. She's now well on track to early retirement with a thriving portfolio. Claire's advice? Don't go it alone. Get yourself a team—solid professionals who can guide you through the ups and downs. And be open to new strategies, like rent-vesting or even Airbnb. She's learned that with the right support, those big, scary goals start to look a whole lot more achievable. Summary In this virtual episode of Startup Junkies, hosts Caleb Talley, Daniel Koonce, and Jeff Amerine chat with serial entrepreneur and founder of Growth Readiness, Todd Westra, about what it means to be “growth ready.” Drawing from his experience interviewing two-hundred and fifty CEOs in thirteen weeks, Westra identifies recurring themes in business growth, particularly the importance of people, processes, and tools. He uses the analogy of SpaceX rockets to explain the difference between launching a business and scaling it, emphasizing the need to transition from what got the business into orbit to focusing on what needs to happen in orbit. Moreover, Westra introduces his growth readiness framework, which consists of four stages of transition and three growth checkpoints in each stage. He highlights common growth blockers, such as financial fluency, understanding cash flow, and managing expenses. Westra also stresses the importance of client profiling, simplifying deliverables, and being less emotionally connected to the product to achieve scalability and efficiency. Throughout the episode, Todd talks about his previous business ventures, his current business, Growth Readiness, and how to grow and scale your business, including crafting an exit strategy. After scouting and sharing fond memories, the troupe reconvened. Tyler and Ivan led them towards one of the army's militia forces, New Rogue tried to understand Westra's cawing by asking Jack Magnum to translate, and Del had to explain to Shadow Nemesis that her reality blade doesn't conjure magical items into existence just because he wants them and dismissed him back to the ghost realm. Shadow Nemesis noticed that the mysterious figure he had seen had an aura similar to Del's, and finally approached them, only to be pulled into the grasp of The Grave Walker himself! Will Shadow Nemesis be able to hold on until Del summons him back? Featuring players Tyler Hewitt, Del Borovic, Guy Bradford, and Adam McNamara, and Dungeon Master Ryan LaPlante. The book, Ans Westra: a Life in Photography by Paul Moon, was released on the 10th of May. Westra is one of Aotearoa New Zealand's most well known social documentary photographers, best known for her candid black-and-white photography of New Zealand life and culture. Some of her most notable photographs included images of life in remote areas, Māori communities, and anti-apartheid protestors who clashed with riot police during the 1981 Springbok tour. In light of Westra's death in February 2023, Ans Westra: a Life in Photography is a richly illustrated biography of her life and her remarkable, and sometimes controversial, practice, which continues to be debated today. Sofia had a kōrero with the author of the book, historian Paul Moon, and Suite Gallery owner and director, David Alsop, who manages the Ans Westra archive and copyright, about Ans Westra: a Life in Photography.

The transformative work of Dr. Henny Westra and Alyssa Di Bartolomeo in their paper, "Developing expertise in psychotherapy: The case for process coding as clinical training," represents a significant advancement in therapeutic practice. They introduce a novel framework called "process coding" to enhance therapists' skills by using session recordings to better understand and refine therapeutic techniques. This method addresses common issues such as therapists' misremembering interactions, enabling a more accurate and effective review and improvement of their sessions. Their approach promises to dramatically enhance therapists' ability to assist clients by offering a systematic way to analyze therapy tapes, which uncovers subtle dynamics and missed opportunities within sessions. The importance of their work lies in providing a clear, evidence-based path toward refining therapeutic skills beyond traditional training, shifting the focus from theoretical knowledge to practical, observable outcomes. This innovative method could potentially revolutionize the way therapists train and develop their expertise, ultimately leading to more effective client interventions and outcomes. Links and resources mentioned: Why tough tactics fail and rapport gets results: Observing Rapport-Based Interpersonal Techniques (ORBIT) to generate useful information from terrorists. This is the article summarizing the early research Laurence Alison et al conducted on police interrogations. I believe it was in this paper they discuss, “you can't always make things better, but negative interactions can sure make things worse.” Conditions for Intuitive Expertise: A Failure to Disagree This is Gary Klein and Daniel Kahneman's article on the areas where expertise can develop and the areas where it can't. My big takeaway was areas with clear and quick feedback are the ones who produce expertise. The wizards of deception detection - Maureen O'Sullivan and Paul Ekman One of my favorite articles. The 2023 men's WorldTour kicked off with the Tour Down Under, and that race features heavily in this week's regular episode, with our roving reporter on the ground in Adelaide, Mitch Docker, bringing us up to date with the latest action. Mitch is joined by Daniel Friebe and multiple former Monument and Grand Tour stage winner Dan Martin to also discuss the rest of the week's news. That includes the announcement that one of the most beloved riders in the pro peloton, Thibaut Pinot, will retire at the end of the 2023 season. The existential void into which some riders disappear when their career ends is our big discussion point in the second half of the podcast. It is also a poignant one in the week when the former Astana rider, Lieuwe Westra, passed away at the age of just 40, after years of mental turmoil. In the episode we'll hear about those from Westra's friend and biographer, Thomas Sijtsma. The Cycling Podcast is supported by Supersapiens and Science in Sport. It is that time of year again, and it is my pleasure to interview the American Star Finalists for this year's National FFA Convention. What a great time of year, and what a fantastic guest to kick off this series of interviews with! I am always fascinated with the way the mind of the finalists in agriscience research work, and with Danae Westra that is very true! Not only has Danae been doing research on her families dairy since her freshman year of high school, but she has been doing research with immediate, practical applications in the family dairy business. In addition to that, Danae has a big personality, and that has show through in the names that she has given each one of her projects: Freshman Year: "Calves R Us" Sophomore Year: "Milk R Us" Junior Year: "Protein 4 Life" Senior Year: "Milk It 4 All It's Worth" Freshman Year Of College: "Mastitis Mishaps" In this interview with Danae you will hear a repeated theme - getting up at 6am to do research before school started. Whether that was weighing calves, pulling blood samples or collecting urine, she was out there, everyday, getting it done before school even started. This is what is so inspirational about FFA students, and this is why Danae has already been recognized as one of the top four agriscience researchers out of the 850,000+ FFA students in the nation! In 2014, 141 FFA students received these grants. With your donations, more students can get this head start - pay it forward. REASONS TO DONATE TO FFA: Only 2% of Americans grow and raise most of the food and livestock consumed by the other 98% and the rest of the world. FFA provides the needed education, training, and resources to Americans that will carry that torch forward and ensure that America continues to have inexpensive, quality food. Rural Communities will rely on entrepreneurship in the future for population growth and job creation. The FFA is a major catalyst to that entrepreneurial growth. Farmers, ranchers, and those working in agriculture give the rest of America incredible amounts of freedom because the food search is as simple as going to the grocery store: “The future of American agriculture depends on the involvement and investment in America's youth, In order to prepare for the population of tomorrow, we need to encourage America's youth today, and show that careers in agriculture are profitable, rewarding, and vital.”. What does it mean to be "saved"? We talk with Megan Westra about her book Born Again and Again, which offers a compelling reframing of the typical white American evangelical concept of salvation. We touch on everything from the role of racism in how churches present this concept, to her experience growing up as a southern fundamentalist, to the importance of dialogue with people who disagree, to financial stewardship, and more. It's a rich conversation. The books Megan mentions are Religious Resistance to Neoliberalism: Womanist and Black Feminist Perspectives by Keri Day and After Whiteness: An Education in Belonging by Willie Jennings. The beer featured in this episode is Shelter in Case by 1840 Brewing Company.Support the show
