Glenn Walker is an Australian/Melbourne based photographer specialising in sea and landscapes. He loves to set his alarm for 4am and drive to a location in the darkness and with anticipation, setting up just as the first light taints the horizon. With the awakening of his surroundings, Glenn creates wonderful naturalistic compositions as he observes the changing conditions. Glenn grew up by the bay and regularly headed to the coast on weekends, so he's always been captivated by the picturesque sea, sand, surf and Victoria's many and varied scenic landscapes. In recent years, after a trip to Hawaii, he began viewing the sea through the lens of a camera and has been capturing images ever since. Glenn also uses his carpentry skills to create frames, in either sustainable or solid recycled timbers, to compliment his images. He aspires to capture the moment and movement of the ever-changing elements of nature. Guided by nature's random tides, swell, water, wind, light, stone, timbers, foliage and all of its captivating hues. We discuss his adventurous nature, the challenges of selling his prints at market stalls, how he creates his own frames with recycled timber along with so much more! I hope you enjoy the show! The collapse of the AGL demerger came after a chorus of investors, including Atlassian billionaire Mike Cannon-Brooks and super fund HESTA made it clear they'd oppose the move. It's hard to ignore the impact of another key player in its collapse - Greenpeace.
Cherokee Lake Open champion, Cooper Gallant joins the show to talk about his big win this past weekend. In the second half of the show, Glenn Walker from the Dick Hiley St. Jude Bass Classic talks about the upcoming 24th annual event. Adam Bartusek also jumps on to talk about fishing the event with Matt this May.
It's the time of year when anglers put their boats away and head for the woods, while others patiently wait for ice to cover the lakes. On this edition of the MWO podcast, we are talking with long-time tournament angler and MWO writer Glenn Walker. Glenn shares some of his recommendations on what proactive maintenance you should be doing to your boat right now to make sure you are ready to go for the spring.

The Leftscape is back after a week away, which allowed time for Wendy Sheridan to attend WorldCon 76 in San Jose, CA. Wendy brings us news on the women's sweep of the Hugo Awards given by the World Science Fiction Society, plus a protest outside the convention. This episode's feature is Wendy's interview with Joy Denebiem, who tells a wonderfully freewheeling and personal account of her gender transition at the age of 58, with great insight from her partner, Cheryl Martin. The blossoming that Joy has experienced through her journey to gender confirmation is audible and a truly enjoyable, educational listen. Mary McGinley reminds us that while we're living it up to get the most from the end of summer, we should remember the meaning of Labor Day - to celebrate workers and labor unions - and to remember the reasonable working conditions that many of us enjoy as a result of union organizing. Robin Renée shares a sound bite of a street action she, Anne Sabagh, and friends staged on the day of the Unite the Right 2 rally. News includes the Scottish efforts to correct the historical record on John A. MacDonald, the first Prime Minister of Canada, prison labor strikes in the U.S. and beyond, and the continuing sagas of Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen. In addition to Labor Day, it's time to celebrate or recognize Safe At Home Week, International Day Against Nuclear Tests, International Day of the Disappeared (August 30th), and Krishna Janmashtami (September 2nd). August 29th birthday shout outs go to Michael Jackson, notorious punk rocker GG Allin, and most especially to the late Glenn Walker, who was a pop culture writer at Biff Bam Pop!, co-host of the GAR! Podcast, the French Fry Diary guy, a friend, and a fan of Robin, Mary, and Wendy's previous podcast adventures. Next week's show will feature Mary's interview with Peggy Farrelly of NOW. *** The Leftscape's weird contest is still on! Write a limerick for us about the GOP and post it to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or all three. Tag us @leftscape and use the hashtag #leftscape. The contest ends at midnight, August 31, 2018. If you don't want to listen to me talking about the history of opioids in America, I totally understand. I'm not an expert, just an informed amateur. But if you'd like to learn more, I highly recommend this recent article in Esquire about Purdue Pharma and Oxycontin. This week's episode of The GAR! Podcast is a long one, the incredible fourth of five episodes recorded live at the 2017 Camden Comic Con. First Glenn and friend of the show, the amazing Robert Repici, discuss the panels of the Con, including the one that they and Ray moderated later in the afternoon. They also discuss the guests of the panel – Amy Chu, Fred Van Lente, Dean Haspiel, and Larry Hama – the legendary silent issue of G.I. Joe, the Hydra Captain America, diversity in comics, the Justice Society, the Fox, and the art of storytelling. Next, in a special French Fry Diary segment, the GAR! con crew (Jennifer Walker of The Make Mine Magic Podcast, friends of the show Jeff Milliman and Jessy Lukens, and the returning Ray) try some of the fries from the food trucks assembled by the Camden Comic Con, even the kimchi ones, which Glenn rightfully refuses to try. There's also more discussion of energy drinks, and anti-vaxers. Thanks to Stink Fisher of The Pop Shop for the awesome burger. Then we finally meet the mythical David Lisa, the geekiest librarian in New Jersey, and the equally cool Janel Miller of the South Jersey Writers' Group, and we talk about the Echelon Mall, Michael Jackson's Thriller, computers, injectable contraceptives, old school phones, libraries, first movies, drive-in theaters, the etymology of dork, graphic novels, and of course, Fantastic Four. David recently re-read the first one hundred issues of the classic series, which made for an intriguing starting point for the discussion of the characters and the creators, favorite stories, the lost FF adventure, the Silver Surfer, reprints, Bullpen Bulletins, comic book movies, Avenger X, March, and the legacy and tragedy of Jack Kirby.
