In photos, trees were seen in pieces at locations including 1st Street and Wilshire Boulevard, Olympic Boulevard and Hope Street, Olympic Boulevard and Figueroa Street, Broadway and Cesar Chavez Avenue, Grand Avenue in front of the Wells Fargo Center and Grand Avenue and 5th Street.

Written and directed by Spencer, and produced by Ward 9 Productions and Carm One Productions, South of Hope Street is a dystopian sci fi Impact film that tells of a mysterious event in the sky. Only a young woman and her alienated friends try to call attention to it - but they are voiceless misfits. As the sky gets stranger above, it becomes more fascist below, until, suddenly, the powers-that-be build a “wall” to cover the mystery of the sky…South of Hope Street is being distributed by Buffalo 8.Jane's other films include The Ninth Cloud and Little Noises. One of the greatest pieces of advice I could give or receive is to be a lifelong learner. To operate within a framework that says, “every day is an arrival”...that it's possible you haven't learned all there is to know about something, or someone...that life experience shapes our viewpoints, interactions and expectations in ways we could never imagine until we find ourselves there. Our walk with the Lord is no different. His ways are beyond our ways, His word is living and active - His spirit continually reveals new things. Our job? To be willing to continue to learn, to operate outside of a paradigm where you believe you have all the answers, and there's nothing left to know. The beauty and mystery of our faith is that there is always more learning to do - and while we figure that out there's always more than enough grace.
POST- PDF- https://erickimphotography.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/KING-OF-THE-STREETS-2.pdf # KING OF THE STREETS Recently, I embarked on an adventure with Seneca, my son. We visited the central library in downtown LA, a magnificent place. If you drive to downtown LA, park at the central public library, and with a valid Los Angeles public library card, parking costs just one dollar with validation for two or three hours at the information desk. We explored downtown LA, including the Apple Theater (with great public bathrooms in the Apple Store on the bottom level). We walked by my old haunts on Hope Street and Broadway in front of ilcafe. We tried to visit Santee Alley in the fashion district, but it was too hot, and another event was happening at the library, so we decided to visit next time. During our walk, I captured a street photo I was proud of—a tattooed man smoking a cigarette in front of a muscle car. I put down Seneca for a moment, grabbed my camera, took a few shots, and continued our walk. While on Broadway, I saw a group of street photographers with Fujifilm X100 cameras and a film Hasselblad X panoramic camera. One of them might have even taken a photo of me and Seneca. I felt a sense of pride seeing street photography alive and well, knowing that I had contributed to its popularity through my blog, work, YouTube videos, and e-books. ## The Death of Slim Shady A fellow rap and hip-hop enthusiast told me that Eminem released a new album. I was impressed by Eminem's longevity in the music industry. The greatest of all time (GOAT) is the most durable of all time, the one whose name will live on the longest. At a public library event near the Otis School of Design, I met a man who recognized Seneca's name from the Roman Stoic philosopher. It reminded me that names last. Choosing a meaningful name for your child can be significant, like naming them after someone who had a major impact on your life. ## The Path Forward Perpetually restarting with a fresh slate is essential. Don't be constrained by your past self or old styles. In photography and life, evolve and try new things. Seeing artists who never change their style becomes boring. Aim to evolve like a Pokémon, from Charmander to Charmeleon to Charizard, or from Magikarp to Gyarados. ## Random Pokémon Thoughts If you're born around 1988, you probably played or watched Pokémon. Today's kids still know what Pokémon is. Thinking of yourself as a high-level Snorlax can help you ignore annoying behaviors. Asking someone about their favorite or spirit Pokémon reveals a lot about their personality. ## Being the Number One Person in Your Niche It's better to be number one in a small, specific niche than to be number two or three in a broader field. For example, in photography, focusing on street photography rather than general photography helped me find my place. ## The Planet is Big Enough With over 8 billion people, even a small niche can have a significant impact. In photography, although many have iPhones, the community of dedicated photographers is still relatively small. Being part of a small, exclusive club is desirable. ## Pick a Fight Inspired by a scene in Fight Club, sometimes it's beneficial to stand up for yourself and make a fuss. If you suspect someone is trying to bully or disrespect you, react strongly. This applies to various situations, such as when employees treat you poorly based on appearances. ## Vanity Objects Despite not using my film Leica MP camera for years, it's a valuable vanity object I plan to pass down to Seneca. Film Leica cameras, like the MP or MA, might be the only cameras that can last 300 years. In contrast, digital Leica cameras are more vanity objects today. ## Bitcoin and Street Photography In the modern era, making money from art through traditional methods like selling prints is outdated. Instead, invest in Bitcoin.

Obedience ought to trump reason. We learn this, and live within this when we are rooted in Him. Abiding in His grace, truth, and love. Love, the fruit that becomes evident as we take one intentional step at a time to remain in Him. Living on mission is no more complicated than remaining in direct contact with our Father, thanks to His son Jesus, we are able to do just that. As we do, our eyes are opened to the need in and around us. That need invites us to join Him. What does obedience look like? How do we know we are rooted in Him?

In the first episode of our Healing Spaces series, we discuss whether healing spaces within the justice system are possible, and if so, what this could look like. Edwina speaks with Lilly Lewis, One Small Thing's Women's Involvement Advisor about her experiences in the justice system and the importance of considering physical space when supporting women's recovery from trauma. In this episode we also meet those involved in the design of Hope Street, our pilot residential community for justice-involved women and their children. Dr Madeline Petrillo, Associate professor of Criminology from Greenwich University has been researching the co-production design process we used, and she is joined by Mike Worthington former director of Snug Architects and lead architect on Hope Street. They discuss what they have learnt about designing a space for women affected by the justice system that aims to be trauma informed. We also hear from one of the women involved in the consultation processes for Hope Street, and her impressions of the physical environment when she visited the final building at the opening event this year. SEPTEMBER 2023I had an amazing summer in Leeds, and now that I've moved to Liverpool, I'm loving the fresh scenery. My stay here has been upbeat, filled with great conversations. It's just a 10-minute walk to the vibrant Hope Street, known for its historic architecture, Everyman Theatre, art galleries, and restaurants. Another enjoyable 10-minute walk takes me to the City Centre and my favorite gym, making navigation in this city a breeze, and I'm feeling more at ease overall.
In our final episode in our series exploring motherhood in the justice system, Edwina reflects on what we've heard, and looks to the solutions to some of the challenges we've explored this series. Lilly Lewis, Women's Involvement Advisor at One Small Thing, returns to discuss her thoughts and feelings on what she's heard on the series, and shares what she hopes those listening will take away. We explore the need to continue to work together across the sector to campaign for reform and hear from Naomi and Sam from Birth Companions on the No Birth Behind Bars campaign. Edwina also speaks to Emma Plugge who is the lead at the University of Southampton for the evaluation of Hope Street, our residential community for women and their children that aims to be a blueprint for change across the Justice system. To conclude this series we look forward with hope that the justice system can finally be reformed to better support mothers and their children.Read more about the One Small Thing charity here.Twitter - @OSTCharityThis podcast is created and produced by The London Podcast Company. Call the Court Circular because Prince William & Kate have certainly been out and about! This week, we're recapping their grand entrance at Royal Ascot (plus our picks for best dressed at the occasion), William's big launch to tackle homelessness and Kate's work to open Hope Street and re-open the Young V&A. Whew! There's more: Wimbledon is upon us! This led Kate to show off her serve on the court in a new vid with the one, the only Roger Federer. (Are they BFFers? We discuss.) The ladies also go over the recent pieces in the Wall Street Journal and on Bloomberg about the Sussexes' Spotify and Netflix deals, Fergie's breast cancer news, Princess Diana's sheep sweater resurgence, the "dashing equerry" currently employed by King Charles and so much more. Carol Schatz joins the podcast to talk about all things downtown Los Angeles. When Carol took the helm of Central City Association (CCA), downtown Los Angeles was full of half-empty office buildings; a place where people came to work Monday through Friday 9am-5pm and then left. Occasionally, Angelenos may have traveled downtown to go to the theater or a Dodger game, but it was not a place people went, or stayed for very long. Under Carol's steady and steadfast leadership, downtown Los Angeles transformed into a vibrant city that GQ Magazine once called “America's Next Great City.” Carol was one of the principal leaders driving this transformation who articulated a vision of a 24/7 neighborhood in America's second largest city, and then pushed policies and projects that made it a reality. This work earned her the title, “queen of downtown Los Angeles” and to honor her work the City of Los Angeles christened the intersection of Hope Street and Wilshire Blvd. “Carol Schatz Square."
