Unsolicited Emails in NZ: Heated 30-Minute Call with Matthew Edwards Exposes Mars Digital's Tactics

Welcome to The Crypto Ponzi Scheme Avenger! I'm Danny de Hek, here to expose scams and unethical practices that harm everyday people. This video uncovers the shocking behavior of Matthew Edwards, founder of Mars Digital, who aggressively sent unsolicited emails promoting his SEO services—violating New Zealand's Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007.After receiving two emails from Matthew, I decided to confront him directly. What followed was a heated 30-minute phone call where he repeatedly dismissed the law, ridiculed me, and claimed he wouldn't provide his services because I'm “not a nice person.” Instead of addressing his blatant disregard for anti-spam regulations, he fixated on accusing me of swearing during our conversation.WHAT IS THE UNSOLICITED ELECTRONIC MESSAGES ACT 2007?This legislation, designed to protect individuals and businesses from spam, applies to all commercial electronic messages with a New Zealand link, including emails sent to, from, or within the country. Key points of the law include: Consent is Mandatory: Businesses must obtain express, inferred, or deemed consent before sending commercial emails.Express Consent: The recipient has explicitly agreed to receive messages.Inferred Consent: A prior business relationship implies the recipient would reasonably expect contact.Deemed Consent: The recipient has published their contact details publicly without stating they do not wish to be contacted.Content Requirements: All commercial messages must:Accurately identify the sender, including valid contact details.Provide a functional and free unsubscribe option.Penalties for Non-Compliance:*Organizations violating the law can face fines of up to $500,000, while individuals can be fined up to $200,000. HIGHLIGHTSFROM THE CALL:1. Matthew's Email Tactics Exposed:His first email included a pitch for a “Christmas Sleigh-EO Audit,” claiming his team would analyze local e-commerce sites for SEO improvements.A follow-up email three days later insisted the initial email might have been “buried.”2. Defiance of the Law:During our conversation, I explained the legal requirements for sending unsolicited emails, but Matthew dismissed these concerns outright, insisting he was within his rights.3. Unbelievable Responses:Instead of engaging professionally, Matthew ridiculed me and accused me of being unkind, pivoting the focus away from his questionable practices.4. SEO Irony:Despite claiming to be an SEO expert, Mars Digital's website fails to rank for fundamental search terms like “SEO Website Marketing Services NZ.”WHY THIS VIDEO MATTERS:Unsolicited emails are more than an annoyance—they undermine trust in business and infringe on privacy. Many New Zealanders remain unaware of their legal protections, making them vulnerable to these tactics. This video not only exposes one company's practices but also aims to educate the public about their rights under the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. By holding businesses accountable, we can push for better compliance and reduce the prevalence of spam in our inboxes. For the latest see the BLOGBuy Me a Coffee I'm on @buymeacoffee. Joining Alexa today is Jo Sear, a rock, pop and soul singer, and teacher of CCM singing styles. Jo completed her MA in Voice Pedagogy through the Voice Study Centre and will soon begin her PhD at The Royal Northern College of Music. She's here to discuss teaching popular music styles, the topic of her recently published final MA dissertation project.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Jo's paper Modern Vocal Pedagogy: Investigating a potential curricular framework for training popular music singing teachers was recently published. She would love to see a course created that teaches people how to be popular music singers. She wants students to learn about the industry, how producers and engineers think, and how studio singing is different from live singing. Contemporary commercial music, or CCM, is a term used by some vocal pedagogues in the US to refer to non-classical music. This term encompasses jazz, pop, blues, soul, country, folk and rock styles. Jo suggests that jazz should be its own category because of the kind of improvisation and musical knowledge needed to sing it. She also thinks that musical theatre and popular music genres do cross over but don't belong in the same category. Jo listens to the singers that her students want to emulate and then brings them more examples of similar artists who they may not have heard before. For example, if someone wanted to sing like Florence and the Machine, she'd bring them a song from Kate Bush. It's about helping students find their style but not pushing them in a direction. She joined her first professional working band at age 21 and has been behind a microphone ever since, singing lead and backing vocals in a wide variety of rock, soul and blues bands, working as a session singer and taking part in many stage productions, including several at the London Palladium. Her current band is Soul Enforcement Bureau, an 8-piece professional soul band. Jo has been a teacher of CCM singing styles exclusively for over 17 years, working both privately and within secondary and dance schools. She has trained extensively in many different areas of voice study, including the Estill Model, advanced anatomy and voice acoustics, and has taught a wide range of students, from amateurs to professionals. She completed her MA in Voice Pedagogy with Distinction in April 2021 and is a passionate advocate of the importance of training more rock/pop teachers and conducting more contemporary voice research. Her final dissertation project - a research-based curriculum outline for training Popular Music singing teachers - has recently been published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Popular Music Education. Jo begins PhD study at the Royal Northern College of Music in September 2023 on the institution's Music Education pathway. She is a member of APME and the British Voice Association and has presented for the BVA on several occasions.   ABOUT THE PODCAST   BAST Training is here to help singers gain the knowledge, skills and understanding required to be a great singing teacher. Today's guest is the Associate Professor of Voice and Theatre, Coordinator of Musical Theatre Voice Training and Artistic Director of the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute of the Shenandoah Conservatory. He has written articles for the Journal of Singing and has contributed to The Manual of Singing Voice Rehabilitation by Leda Scearce and the So You Want to Sing series by NATS. Dr Matthew Edwards is on the podcast to talk about teaching musical theatre styles. KEY TAKEAWAYS Matt plays several instruments and understands enough so that when something's going wrong with the voice, he knows what to do to fix it. It's reasonable that singers should be able to do the same thing. At a very basic level, singers should understand that their voice has a power source, the respiratory system, and have some knowledge of how it works. When you breathe in and fill your lungs with air, that air wants to get back out. So the more air you take in, the more air that wants to get out, and that'll make you louder. The less air you take in, the less air that's going to come out, so you'll be a little bit quieter. Think about the vocal folds – that's where the buzz happens. So if you want breathy singing, you need lightly closed vocal folds. If you want to have more edge to the sound, then you're going to have to close those vocal folds up a little bit for a belt or for an overdrive. Singers need to know enough about their voice to keep it functioning, but they don't have to know enough to be able to tune it on their own. In the early days of musical theatre singers were not amplified and so had to project their voices to the back of the theatre. A lot of that classical technique work was beneficial because classical singers were projecting their voices acoustically as well. In the early days of the Golden Age of musicals, singers needed to think about having enough air in their lungs to project their voice and then use it accordingly. When you get into microphone singing and amplified singing, you're no longer trying to project your voice far away from you. You're trying to project it just centimetres away from you.   BEST MOMENTS  ‘It doesn't have to be in depth about understanding every muscle name, but just that basic biomechanics of how the respiratory system works' ‘So to me, it's about getting them to understand the basics so they can troubleshoot on their own' ‘Donors change as the economy changes'   EPISODE RESOURCES Guest Website: EdwardsVoice.com Social Media: Instagram: @edwards_voice Relevant Links & Mentions: How The Voice Works Course: https://www.how-the-voice-works.com/enroll-now Singing Teachers Talk Podcast: Ep. 84 The Benefits of Cross-Genre Training with The Voice Collective: https://open.spotify.com/episode/50yCDCVVxrgJp9NiQQFqKu?si=6a8a946adf8b4709 pickerwheel.com Thomas Cleveland at the Vanderbilt University Medical Centre: https://www.vumc.org/ent/person/thomas-f-cleveland-mm-phd Respiratory Function in Singing: A Primer for Singers and Singing Teachers by Thomas J Hixon Respiratory Function in Speech and Song by Thomas J Hixon Breathing for Singers: A Comparative Analysis of Body Types and Breathing Tendencies by Jennifer Cowgill: https://www.thefreelibrary.com/Breathing+for+singers%3A+a+comparative+analysis+of+body+types+and…-a0221850658 Journal of Singing: https://www.nats.org/cgi/page.cgi/about_journal_singing.html Etude Magazine Cinderella (original): https://youtu.be/a0iOeAHeCA8 Cinderella (revival): https://youtu.be/rVY3nV21Ixs National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATs): org Vocal Authority: Singing Style and Ideology by John Potter Ken Bozeman: kenbozeman.com Acting in Musical Theatre: A Comprehensive Course by Joe Deer & Rocco Dal Vera Cross-Training in the Voice Studio: A Balancing Act by Norman Spivey & Mary Saunders-Barton So You Want to Sing CCM (NATs Series) edited by Matthew Hoch Training Contemporary Commercial Singers by Elizabeth Ann Benson Highbrow-lowbrow: Emergence of Cultural Hierarchy in America - The William E Massey Sr. Lectures in American Studies The Rise and Fall of the Broadway Musical by Mark Grant The Theatre Will Rock by Elizabeth Lara Wollman   ABOUT THE GUEST Matt Edwards is currently Associate Professor of Voice and Theatre, Coordinator of Musical Theatre Voice Training, and Artistic Director of the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah Conservatory. Edwards' work lies at the intersection of identity, technique, and artistry. He uses evidence-based techniques that coordinate the instrument and empower performers to communicate the human experience through song. Former and current students have performed on American Idol, Broadway, off-Broadway, national and international tours, national television, cruise ships, theme parks, bands touring throughout the world. He has written dozens of articles and book chapters for publications including the Journal of Singing, Journal of Voice, Vocal Athlete, Manual of Singing Voice Rehabilitation, Training Contemporary Commercial Singers and numerous editions of the So You Want to Sing book series. This week I had the chance to speak with Matthew Edwards. Matthew is the Director of Football Analytics at the University of Virginia (A school that I happen to be an alumni of). Football and math have always been a huge part of his life. While at BYU, he majored in Math and has a master's degree in Public Administration. He also played Tight End on the football team there from 2008-2011. After a few years coaching, he transitioned to Analytics in his current role with UVA. He started the Master's of Data Science degree at UVA this semester, and is excited to learn more about Data Science. He is married to MaryBeth Edwards, and has two boys: Luke and Shea who are already starting to get interested in college football, or at least the team mascots. In this interview we learn how Matt made his way into analytics from the player and coaching route. We talk at length about how someone can break into sports analytics as a career, and we also touch on why he decided to go back for his masters in data science at UVA. I hope you enjoy!

Productive Conversations with Matt Brown

Matthew Edwards has one of the greatest life comebacks I have ever seen or witnessed. This guy had a lot of obstacles to overcome and he would tell you himself he was in a low place. From dealing with temptations, to dealing with issues with the law, he was not in a good position. But sometimes life saves you if you have a great attitude and I am proud to say that Matthew Edwards really turned his life around. He found faith and he is now a proud Born-Again Christian. We talk about his journey overcoming obstacles with the help of finding Jesus. We talk about how he overcame his issues to become a Born-Again Christian. We also talk about embracing other religions as well and respecting what other people believe. Matt also contracted COVID-19 in the Fall 2020. We discuss his recovery process, how the COVID symptoms unfolded, and what he learned about overcoming the COVID-19 virus. He also discusses how he feels about Social Distancing and PPE measures after expiring the Coronavirus. We also talk about his entrepreneurial endeavors and what he is binging. This is a podcast that really is humbling and interesting on so many levels. This is my buddy, Matt E (3:10) - We start with Matthew introducing himself and he talks to us about his faith, who is as a person being a christian, who is he as a human being, and he tells us what life has been like for him lately. (3:58) - As mentioned, Matt E. is a Born-Again Christian, why did Matt decide to become a Born-Again Christian? He tells us his journey. (15:16) - What struggles did Matt E. go through before becoming born again? (35:27) - What would Matt E. say to people who neglect or do not understand Christianity? (40:35) - What would Matt E. say to people who are on the fence or not sure about Christianity and finding faith? (48:54) - COVID-19, the virus that has shaken our world and has caused a pandemic. Matt E. tested positive for COVID-19 in the Fall 2020. So he talks about experiencing the COVID symptoms, his recovery process, and how he feels towards Social Distancing/PPE Measures after having gone through the sickness. (52:35) - We then discuss a special week that Matt E. wants to promote and he talks about Christian music. (1:07:59) - It is then time to get into Matt E.’s entrepreneurial aspirations and the clothing company he is interested in growing. (1:14:30) - What is Matt E binging? (1:21:58) - Matt E then answers the Proust Questionnaire (1:25:35)

This is “ReSolve’s Riffs” – live on Youtube every Friday afternoon to debate the most relevant investment topics of the day. Even the term used to describe this asset-class is loaded with controversy. Some say cryptocurrency is a misnomer, since Bitcoin and its lesser known brethren can neither be considered a medium of exchange nor a store of value. Rob Furse (co-founder & president of Echelon Wealth Partners) and Matthew Edwards (CEO & CIO of Dalpha Capital Management) would certainly disagree with the latter. We invited them to discuss this and other topics including: The role of crypto (currencies or assets) in investors’ portfolios Can bitcoin really be thought of as ‘digital gold’? How to position these assets using both legacy and newer investment frameworks What the endorsement of well-known money managers does for Bitcoin Regulatory hurdles and the road to institutional acceptance We also debated the current global macro backdrop and why ideas like MMT will likely push an ever-growing number of investors to venture into the crypto space. There may also have been some brief speculation regarding the identity of the elusive Satoshi Nakamoto, author of the original Bitcoin whitepaper. Thank you for watching and listening. See you next week.

The sermon was delivered on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister. DESCRIPTION The words covenant, coven, convene, and convention derive from the same root. They all refer to agreement of coming together— entering contract and contact with others in a cooperative, committed and devoted manner. Symphoneo is the Greek word for agreement, which we also get the word symphony. It doesn't mean to sound the same. It doesn't even mean to sound alike. It simply means to sound together. All month we are exploring the theme of covenant. As in the tradition of our church, we honor our covenant as it is read aloud at every services. In covenant together, we encourage, enjoy and lovingly make our force of a positive and powerful forward thrust of common growth and personal expansion. *Music: Majeste Pearson, solo; David B. The sermon was delivered on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister. DESCRIPTION Let's begin the process of revisiting, revising or, in some cases, reversing ideas and concepts based on varying cryptic interpretations of the bible. Interpretations have been programmed into the minds of people by religious systems, statements, and statutes—including church doctrines, dogma, and some church disciplines—causing millions of people to accept and/or adopt beliefs that have resulted in their loss of contact with what is real, factual, historical and spiritual. We need deprograming for reprograming to regain 21st century relevance. Music performed by Annie Ellicott, soloist; Jordan Hehl, bass; Rick Fortner, piano; David B. The sermon was delivered on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Doug Inhofe, Sabbatical Minister. SERMON DESCRIPTION More than we imagine, aspects of our lives are arranged as games. We participate in games with rules. We opt to play or not with others. In the games of life, there are time limits, areas of responsibilities, and, ultimately, there’s a winner. This predictability, this certainty, we imagine, can salve our anxiety about our futures. But there are useful games that are not time-limited or modeled by the games with winners. These games are infinite—they are games for a life beyond certainty. They leave behind a “winning” effort in favor of insuring the continuation of play itself. This is a meta-world where the rules may change, even the participants, but the game never ends. These games can give us a standard for how to be: if you’re in love with someone or something, a project or a congregation, then the game plan is to do what keeps the love going. *Featuring music performed by Kara Staiger, Rick Fortner, David B. Smith, Matthew Edwards. The sermon was delivered on Sunday, June 17, 2018, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Bishop Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister. SERMON DESCRIPTION The majority of conservative evangelical thinkers still believe in an orthodox hell as do most of the billion Roman Catholics in the world. This includes eternal damnation and torture in a lake of fire and brimstone. It all sounds frighteningly obscure, absurd and obscene. And for the most part, they all wish it were not true, or at least that they don't and won't go there. Some are afraid to deny the existence of hell, because that would make Jesus, whom most see as little less than a divine "fire escape" and whom they worship, unnecessary and that is anathema above all anathemas. So?.... Christian orthodoxy needs hell to be orthodox, so that means we need to reconsider orthodoxy and ortho/dogma anew. We're doing so all of the month of June here at All Souls. Lets reconsider what we believe and why we believe it and do those beliefs add to or subtract from the quality of life and consciousness! *Featuring music performed by Colin Bent, Toneille Bent, Brooklyn Benway, Benway-Caldwell Band, Majeste Pearson, Rick Fortner, David B.
