7 Revenue Streams for Menopause Fitness Coaches

Fitness Marketing Mastery

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 28, 2024 43:39

Diversify with 7 revenue streams for stability and growth in the fitness coaching industry, particularly for those focusing on midlife women. 1 Online Courses and Workshops  - Description: Creating and selling online courses that address specific aspects of fitness and wellness for midlife women, such as bone health, hormone balance, and managing menopause symptoms through exercise and nutrition. - Actionable Tip: Use platforms like Teachable or Thinkific to host your courses; start with a pilot course to gauge interest. One event or one series of events. Biggest mistake here is underpricing.  If you start with a problem, and you believe someone will pay for the solution you have, underpricing is usually the biggest risk. It sets a precedent. You aren't going to be excited about it.  Second biggest mistake is not having a goal for enrollment. What's the minimum profitable number of registrations? If you don't want to profit or set that as a goal, you won't. You may have a hobby. Consider your time. Time delivering, time preparing, time commuting, what it removes you from doing that could earn more. The biggest cost to a low price offer though is the mental connection with you and your services. Cheap is not well-perceived as “worth it.”  2 Virtual Fitness Coaching  - Description: Offering personalized coaching sessions via video calls, catering to clients who prefer the convenience of working out at home. - Actionable Tip: Leverage tools like Zoom or Skype for personal training sessions; consider group sessions for a more community-centric approach. Private or Group 3 Wellness Retreats  - Description: Organizing retreats focused on fitness, nutrition, and overall wellness for midlife women, offering a holistic health experience. - Actionable Tip: Partner with a retreat center and start small—a weekend getaway focused on a specific theme like "Reset and Renew." Live or Virtual- where would you love to go? These are the most fun revenue streams for coaches because you've figured out a way to do what you love and get paid for it!  I'm hosting retreats in Colorado and in the Grand Canyon this year. I am taking the cohort on trails I love and know, getting to teach life-changing content to attendees while they're there, bringing together a community of women interested in the same things. But you can also and I have done this virtually in a 3-day retreat. At $97 for the event and with over 40 in attendance. It was a blast! For a few hours on Saturday and Sunday each.  Workshop style - partner with someone  Grassroots - Register and pay either coach, enrolling coach takes 5-10% more which is a sales commission essentially, and then coaches settle up after. (Don't make an attendee register two places)!  4 More Revenue Streams for Fitness Coaches 4 Membership Programs  - Description: Creating a membership platform providing exclusive content, community support, and regular live Q&A sessions. Often includes discount rates for additional services, a regular content exclusive to the membership, access to you that no one else has or only VIP clients have, but members get at a fraction of the price of private coaching.  - Actionable Tip: Utilize platforms like Patreon or MemberPress to build and manage your membership community, Memberium 5 Affiliate Marketing - Description:Earning commissions by recommending fitness and wellness products that align with the needs of midlife women. - Actionable Tip:Choose products you genuinely endorse; transparency builds trust with your audience. Coach partnerships Program partnerships Equipment: desk bikes, weights, Power Plate, skin care, supplements 6 Corporate Wellness Programs  Description: Designing and implementing fitness and wellness programs for employees at corporations, focusing on midlife health. - Actionable Tip: Start by offering free lunchtime talks or workshops to introduce your services to local businesses. Create proposals - learn the corporate context of programs 7 Writing and Publishing  - Description: Writing books or guides on fitness and wellness for midlife women, either self-published or through traditional publishing. - Actionable Tip: Start with an eBook on a niche topic; use Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing for a straightforward self-publishing process. Often the monetization of these items is not the sales of the book but the sales of the program you talk about in the book. -Summary of the revenue streams for fitness Coaches Resources:  Health & Fitness Business Self-assessment: https://www.fitnessmarketingmastery.com/scorecard  Menopause Fitness Framework: https://www.flippingfifty.com/specialist  Other Episodes You Might Like:  How to Attract Over 50 Clients: https://www.fitnessmarketingmastery.com/reach-over-50-clients/ How to Develop Relationships with Medical Professionals: https://www.fitnessmarketingmastery.com/relationships-with-medical-professionals/ Last week on She Means Fitness Business with Jay Croft we be talked about writing, creating copy and if you're considering a book (and you probably should be) this will help you in every aspect of your business.

In this behind the scenes look and membership site walkthrough, we're talking to business expert Brett Gilliland of Elite Entrepreneurs.  His business and methodology has helped numerous entrepreneurs grow from $1M to $10M in revenue by following the proven strategies they share. These methods are the same ones that Keap (formerly Infusionsoft) followed on their growth journey. In fact, while Elite Entrepreneurs got its official start as a standalone company in 2018, the Elite Forum was born inside of Infusionsoft (now Keap) in December of 2011. As things grew, it was decided it needed to be its own company and that's how it exists today.  Elite Entrepreneurs has exclusive rights to all of the learning/content, processes and tools Infusionsoft used to grow to $10M+ complete with real-life examples from Infusionsoft's journey that business owners can leverage as they work to scale their businesses. In essence, they packaged up 10,000 hours of mastery in business building so you can accelerate your growth without having to learn the entire path on your own. It's not unusual for people in the Elite program to double or triple their revenue just by going through and implementing the methods taught. Elite was created because the need for business owners to get help was only growing. You might even be able to relate to this – A business owner gets worn out and they're trying to keep growing but not seeing any results.  This usually happens right around the one million dollar mark. At that point, it's almost like you hit a wall that you can't scale past. Brett explains in this video why that is. Simply, the things that got you to the first million won't work to get you to 10 million. You can't be the superhero entrepreneur anymore, you need to learn how to manage a team of people who will continue to drive your growth engine. Brett shares a whole wealth of information, insights, and even gives us a behind the scenes look at how his team has structured their years of content (an absolute massive library), to keep things organized and simple for their members to find each resource. Marketing automation is a powerful yet underutilized tool for entrepreneurs to grow and evolve their businesses. Our guest, Micah Mitchell, is an Infusionsoft coach and the CEO of membership site Memberium. He's here to share his knowledge and experience on how business owners can capitalize on marketing automation and software to grow their business. In this episode, Micah provides his insights on how marketing automation can either save or grow a business. Furthermore, he talks about the control a business owner acquires over their company using these tools. Finally, he provides solid business advice and what habits and mindsets a winning company should have. If you want to know how to be an effective entrepreneur using automation, don't miss this episode and tune in to the podcast! About Micah Micah Mitchell has been working with marketing automation through Infusionsoft ever since he dropped out of high school. He co-founded a membership site called Memberium and now coaches business owners on how to evolve their business mainly through online courses and training. Why You Need Marketing Automation In Your Business How He Started He dropped out of high school to work in customer relationship management (CRM) of a credit card processing company. The company grew because of memberships. He then left the company to become an entrepreneur and discovered Infusionsoft. Creating Information Products for Marketing Automation Create value from the problems you encounter and make content out of it. Shift from the “back-end” product/content development to the “front-end” marketing. Set up royalty agreements to protect both parties. Sustain and Protect Value for Clients Creating value for clients is easier than sustaining and protecting it. It is better to dive in as soon as possible and figure things out along the way. Marketing Automation: How to Avoid Mistakes Stop overcomplicating and over-engineering things. You should also focus on the simple processes and mechanisms that get the job done. How to Measure and Track Your Business Effectively Keep it simple (avoid over-tracking) Use Google Analytics and affiliate links for internal metrics “Most of the inference we get from statistics is wrong.” Building a Winning Company Hire slow; fire fast mentality (getting the right people is critical) People skills are overvalued; look for technically-skilled applicants. To the right person, punishments and incentives aren't that important. In employees, passion for the product is more important than being business-savvy. “The opportunity cost of not just a bad person, but a mediocre person is incredible when you could just as easily have had a good person by trying a little harder to get them.” Some Business Advice Invest in coaching as there is power in a single idea (millionaire coaching from Loral Langmeier). Make a habit of creating value from your problems and duplicating your efforts. The Future of Marketing Automation Multi-thousand dollar consulting will be within reach of the masses for a lower price point. In Today’s Podcast, I Am Talking With Andrew Pfund, The CEO Of Memberium. Unlike Most Other Membership Platforms, Memberium Is Built To Work Exclusively With Infusionsoft And ActiveCampaign. Which Means There’s A Deep Integration Between Your CRM Which Allows You To Have A Much Higher Level Of Automation In Your Site Compared To Other Platforms. Memberium Is A WordPress Plugin That Allows You To Create Automated Membership Sites Or Courses That Will Be Able To Grow, Thrive And Operate On Their Own. Hear The Top 5 Things This Platform Can Do And How Anyone Can Use This System Because It Is So Easy - It Is Simple, Brilliant, And Effective.Takeaways From This Episode:Efficiently Productize Your Services With A Membership SiteCreate Templates, Brand Palettes, And Videos That Will Tie Everything TogetherAutomated Email RemindersAutomatically Apply That Credit Card To Their Past Failed InvoiceAutomating Scheduling Meetings With ClientsOffering A Custom Client PortalAndrew talks about the one thing that used to drive him crazy -- how long it took to get certain deliverables from clients just to start a project. He admits it was mostly his fault because he did not have an efficient enough process in place to collect the needed information. Create Templates, Brand Palettes And Videos That Will Tie Everything TogetherOne way to do that is to provide templates and brand palettes and basic transparency into what you're doing. It is wonderful. In the beginning stages of the onboarding, you can give them training on what they need to know. Most clients are not experts at copywriting, marketing or designing so that's why they're hiring your agency. One of the reasons you can not get the deliverables you are needing is because new clients do not know how to write copy, or they've never done this before. So, you have to train them. Automated Email RemindersAnother really cool thing with having an automated membership site that's closely connected with Infusionsoft is sending out automated email reminders. Andrew addresses automatically collecting files, and deliverables from your clients, rather than having to chase them down, and get it through multiple emails, you can provide some training on what they need to do first through your membership site. Automatically Apply That Credit Card To Their Past Failed InvoiceThe third benefit Andrew talks about is automatically applying credit card information. If you're an agency and you're offering any type of subscription service, Memberium has an option to make sure you keep getting paid.Automating Scheduling Meetings With ClientsAutomating scheduling meetings with clients. If they've successfully gone through your onboarding, your training, and they've submitted all the files that you've needed, then they can schedule a meeting with you or somebody on your team. Offering A Follow Along Type Of ServiceThe fourth way you can use a membership site is by offering a follow along type of service. This is a process that guides a client through how to do something on their end, and they do all the work. Offering A Custom Client PortalThe fifth way is offering a custom client portal. For your longer-term clients, there are ongoing training calls and more so you can create your own type of client portal that allows them to access recordings, all of their past calls and also access the resources that you have available for them. You can go to https://memberium.com/ check out their free resources. Elite Entrepreneurs and an inside look at how they built their membership site

In this episode of the Memberium customer spotlight series, Brett Gilliland, the CEO of walks us through how his company built and structured their membership site with Memberium. In addition to walking us through his membership site, Brett shares a ton of great advice that any business owner can use to grow their business. He also shares some useful tips on how to effectively structure your membership site's content when you're just launching the first version of your membership site and lots of other useful nuggets throughout this video. Who is Brett Gilliland and What is Elite Entrepreneurs? Brett spent 10 years helping Infusionsoft grow from $7M in revenue and about 80 people to over $100M and 500+ people. He helped Infusionsoft establish their Purpose, Values, and Mission and built the people and leadership systems to attract, hire and retain the right people. Brett helped co-create Infusionsoft’s "Elite Forum" with Clate Mask and helped build the Elite business inside of Infusionsoft. For over 6 years they taught hundreds of entrepreneurs how to successfully grow their 7-figure businesses to $10M and beyond. Why They Built Their Membership Site In 2018, Elite Entrepreneurs became its own standalone company. At this point what was lacking was a program for people who wanted access to the Elite Forum content but, for whatever reason, weren’t ready to attend a live event. This is where the idea for a membership site (and using Memberium) started. To be able to reach a wider range of people, they created a membership program that includes all of the materials from Elite Forum inside of a membership site that's built with Memberium. This includes videos from a live Elite Forum event, access to all of the materials someone would get if they attended an Elite Forum event in person and access to the other training content they have available.  Members also get access to Brett once a month to ask questions live via an Open Office Hours group call. Instead of only being accessible by attending a live event, this incredibly valuable Elite Forum content is now shared anytime, anywhere through a membership product that anyone can access. What You'll Learn From This Video In this video, Brett shares how he structured the content inside of the membership site and how he decided on what content to include in the online program after running live events for so long. If you've been wondering how you can turn your live event business into some type of online membership program there's a lot of useful knowledge shared throughout this video that you'll be able to learn from. Over the years Elite Entrepreneurs has built up a ton of great content from all of their past events. The value that members get from a membership site can only be delivered if they consume your site's content. If they pay for your membership site month over month, and they're not using anything, that's problematic. Brett shares a few ways they tried to overcome this problem and engage their members month over month, in other ways besides them just being able to watch video content. They onboard new members by showing them a simple timeline that shows them the path they should be taking, month by month throughout their membership. This helps them understand what the membership site will help them accomplish and keeps them focused on what they should be doing at each stage of their membership over time. This same type of membership timeline can be used for any membership site in any niche to help...   Paint a picture of what members can expect to get from completing your membership program and guides them in moving forward. A simple timeline also helps members quickly understand what they should be working on depending on how long they've been a member and lets them see where they're at with their membership. Throughout this video, Brett gives his own advice for any business owner who's considering starting their own membership site and shares some quick advice for any business owner who's interested in further growing their business. Brett also shares some of the most common things he sees that hold entrepreneurs back from further scaling their business and some of the most common problems preventing them from growing. To find out what they are, check out the full video to find out what he had to share... If you'd like to learn more from Brett and Elite Entrepreneurs you can visit

Becoming an Online Trainer in 2020 | COVID19 Will Change Fitness

Fitness Marketing Mastery

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 4, 2020 21:52

Right now the fitness industry is full of trainers and instructors flooding the online space. No one was prepared for COVID19. And yet, becoming an online trainer was a good idea before this pandemic. It wasn't crowded for any single niche. Note: I've been an almost 100% virtual personal trainer & health coach for women in perimenopause, menopause, and post menopause, focused on hormone balancing exercise since January 2013. In March of 2013 I created my first online course. I offered my first online marketing and sales training course for trainers in August 2013. My advice is to jump in. Do not wait. This many years later it is easier, and it will get more crowded if you wait. Be first. Be best. But done is better than perfect. My business model is hybrid – providing live retreats for women, fitness pros, and live workshops and speaking. The beauty of hybrid is that a trainer isn't defined or limited by circumstance. A hybrid trainer is able to adjust to the needs of a client and provide online, in person, training sessions, programs, nutrition coaching, tele-sessions on an as-needed basis. The content gets delivered on the platform that works best at the moment. You're not limited as a trainer by geography or technology. In 2019 I launched the Flipping 50 Fitness Specialist certificate to provide the training for other trainers and meet the huge demand for 46 million women in menopause, growing by 6000 every day (ACOG, 2019). As a part of that training I offer an online build your brand & business program for trainers and health coaches. Now has never been a better time to 1) already have leverage online 2) create your online strategy 3) leave random or “someday” options and commit to business that is either hybrid or 100% online. For trainers who have an interest in becoming an online trainer this is the time to pivot. For trainers who want to continue doing training in person this is the time to develop online training tools that support customers and leads. It is the time to develop an online presence if even by showing up regularly, not necessarily to contribute to the mass of “exercise” options, but to be there supporting and creating community. This doesn't mean spending your life on social media. But it means willingness to research what your customer needs right now. What is the biggest problem your customer faces? Now is the time to plan. Create a strategy that is informed from homework about the clients you want to target. If you currently had been serving clients face-to-face in a wide array of ages, conditions, and goals, that won't equate to an easy target online. You need to focus on: 1) Who you want to serve 2) Who you need to be 3) How you help them and 4) What's unique about you and them Before you try to add “online trainer” into your website or social media bio, spend some time really focusing on the business plan and model. The Process Becoming an online trainer will all but guarantee you become a better trainer. You will learn how to market and promote and serve your customers in a way that boosts your value. What are we and aren't we talking about? I'm not only talking about delivery of your services via teleconferences or Skype or Facetime. That virtual training simply changes where you are and may increase the convenience of delivery for you or your client but is still an hour-for-a-dollar method of training. You hit a limit to the number of hours you have to train. Does it offer a little more freedom than face-to-face sessions? Yes, but it may actually end up being less than the amount of revenue you'd otherwise make. You still have to be in a quiet space with control of your environment. Your kids can't be coming in and out of the room. Without celebrity status or a bestselling book your clients may not want to pay you as much for this service. So more clients paying less money unless you're talking a LOT more with say an online bootcamp you're doing live is not an optimal model. Will virtual sessions now help you recover income otherwise lost? Yes. You can conduct Skype, Zoom, or Facetime sessions with your clients scheduled just like any other sessions. Unless your business model is stuck and you refuse to figure out how to it this way, there is a way. Most of the time the greatest learning and fastest forward progress happens because its needed and necessary: not because you're ready. Why is Online Training (and Coaching) So Beneficial? There's no income ceiling if you strategically create programs. It offers you a way to make passive income if you're sick or on vacation. You can train anyone from anywhere anytime. You can have as much hands-on or DIY as clients prefer and you build. Accountability is Still Key Customer service between sessions is still and all-important part of your value. Clients who need accountability (which is about 98% of humans) need your personal touch. You still have to show up. You need to coach them, have check ins, have Q and As and in some way be there for them so they do what is available to them. Online Training Revenue Streams Beyond the Old 1-to-1 Model Online education courses Online exercise courses Online group live stream What Doesn't Change You still have to choose a niche. You can't serve “everybody.” If you're still marketing mass bootcamps for all ages and men and women without pre-qualifications and specific outcomes, you'll fail. Going “broad” like this in the future will guarantee your failure. Can you imagine people wanting to be in large groups where they share battle ropes, and TRX, and dumbbells, and mats while they're sweaty? The overwhelm of prospective clients is real. They can't distinguish between one program or trainer and another. If you're a so-so trainer, that's good. If you're a highly skilled expert trainer, that's bad. A 60-something woman may think her daughter who just graduated from college with a degree she paid for can help her because after all she's a beginner and need the basics. Never mind the osteoporosis, arthritis, hip bursitis and rotator cuff issues she has.  Unless you clearly distinguish yourself and create a message that a customer gets at hello, you will be lost in a sea of trainers scrambling right now to get an online presence. Online Fitness Service Options Private-personalized programs one-to-one Non-personal written programs (in pdfs or videos) Non-personal video fitness programs Hybrid online and in-person training Live Video Workouts online (Skype, Facetime, Zoom) Live Online group training Examples of Information Products to Add Nutrition programs Stretching specific sessions Golf/Ski conditioning Yoga for bikers/runners/hands-free/osteoporosis Membership Models Once you have begun and learn what's working a membership model with subscription is the way of the future for many. Though we don't know exactly what will happen post COVID19, we do know that things will change. Health is important. Quality will have more value than ever.  Software, Course-Building, or Word Press There is trainer-specific software that is already built. You'll need to fit into the model that exists and the options available. Consider course-building sites like Thinkific, Teachable, and Kajabi. You can build a membership site within a word press site using tools like Memberium and Learn Dash to create a course experience. You have options. Before you go shopping for the options to build something lay out your plan so you can create a customer experience. Once you do that you'll best be able to choose the products that will create it. The biggest mistake? Trainers tell me, I know I have to get a website up. If you too are saying this before you even know who your target customer is, that would be a bigger mistake than not having a website. Whether you deliver in-person personal training or online personal training this is the absolute most important and most often skipped part of every struggling fitness business. Especially now. Any fitness business can have a certain level of success due to novelty or newness or the vast offerings. Or at least could at one time. If you want to survive and thrive during and after COVID19 you can. You can't however wait it out.  Find a Niche and Serve Today customers who are more overwhelmed by facilities and amenities that they don't use are less likely to go to a big umbrella gym. The bigger it is and the less time a customer has, the mere walk to the locker room and back to find a classroom is a time inconvenience. An older adult who has to climb the stairs or even use the elevator to reach the track or an exercise bike may decide it's all too much if that's all they want to use. So your specialization and your specific message are more appealing than ever. Define your target market. Learn what options already exist for them. Identify a gap and determine if there is great enough demand. Decide the model you want. Then plan the customer journey before you shop for how to put it together. You want to create the ideal program and offer in your head and on paper before you ever start a website, a membership area, or start creating videos. If you want support and step-by-step coaching on creating, reaching, an offer customers love schedule a breakthrough with me.  When you're ready, these are your steps: Identify your ideal customer  - Begin attracting the right person who has a problem is actively seeking solutions, and has urgency around it and willing to invest in it. In this episode Micah interview’s Tracy Childers, “the godfather” of membership sites. Throughout this episode Tracy shares how he co-founded WishList Member. He shares his advice on how to run a successful membership site for the long term and his advice on starting a reliable business partnership. Tracy and Micah talk about how the subscription economy has evolved over the years. Where it’s headed in the future and what this means for people who are looking to start a membership site. They also discuss a few important topics that every business owner should start considering to make sure their business stays prepared for the future. To find out what they are exactly, you’ll want to check out the full episode... In 2008 Tracy had co-founded WishList Member with Stu McLaren. At that time there was barely any other membership platforms available on the market. Over the years, WishList Member has became the world’s most popular and widely used membership platforms that exists today. WishList Member currently powers over 90,000 membership websites and online communities. You could say when it comes to membership sites, to put it lightly, Tracy really knows what he’s talking about. To find out the most important lessons Tracy has learned over the years and his advice on how to start a successful membership site, listen to the full episode... To learn more about WishList Member and find out more about how it works, you can check out their website at   Key Takeaways From This Episode:   As Tracy says, “People like to buy from people they know, like and trust.” To effectively market your product, you need to invest in building your reputation, and earn your audience’s trust.   It's never too late to jump into something that you truly want to do and are passionate about. Whether you’re a membership site veteran, or just starting out, when you’re equipped with the right tools and resources, remember to believe in yourself and don’t let anything stop you.   In any business, Tracy believes that you have to be yourself. Instead of trying to imitate the people that you look up to, innovate and find your individuality by learning from them, not mimicking them. Apply and take this knowledge to the direction that you want to take on.   Find and form partnerships. Don't let your limitations hold you back. If you realize you’re not exactly sure about what you’re doing, you can always reach out and ask for professional help.   Don’t be afraid of change. Change is inevitable, the only thing you can do is to adapt to these changes. Use them to become better.   Know where you are going. Do not get too hung up on having to have your membership site perfect in order to get going. Whichever order you do to start and build a membership site is fine because the steps that go along with it are just as important.

Kim Snider Shares Her “Reverse Funnel” Strategy And How to Use it to Launch a Membership Site the Right Way

In this episode, long time marketing expert and finance veteran, Kim Sinder shares the inside story of how she launched her new membership site, “Sane Crypro” with Memberium for ActiveCampaign. Sane Crypto is a membership site that teaches baby boomers how to create a sane strategy for investing in cryptocurrencies to save more for retirement. Kim won Infusionsoft’s ‘Most Helpful Partner’ award a few years back and was big in the Infusionsoft space. Before that, she started an Investment firm that was on the Inc 5,000 list two years in a row. You’d think that someone with all this marketing experience would build an advanced membership site with a pretty complex marketing funnel, right? She did the exact opposite. Kim marketed and built her membership program strictly following what she refers to as the “reverse funnel concept.” This means before she even created one piece of content for her membership site, she did a lot of work figuring out who her target market really is, what they wanted and figuring out what messaging they responded best to. Once she figured out the best “hooks” that her target audience responded best to, she then pre-sold access to her membership program to make sure there would be enough people willing to join her membership site. All before she built or invested her time in creating one piece of content for her membership site. The way that Kim went about doing all of this is a lot simpler than you think. To find out how she did it, you’ll want to listen to the full episode to discover how… Over the years, we’ve seen a tons membership owners think they need to have the perfect membership site before they start selling it. This can turn into a project like Noah’s arc. Except once it’s built, no one comes...and no one ends up buying the membership. This is why we recommend taking a MVP (Minimum Viable Product) approach to creating a membership site, or even better pre-selling your membership like Kim has. In this episode Kim shares a ton of valuable advice for anyone who’s looking to start a membership site from ground zero or is in the process of starting one. You’ll also find out Kim’s advice on marketing a membership site in the early stages, how she’s created all of her ‘members-only’ content following a minimum viable strategy, and what’s worked best for her. To learn more about SANE crypto and Kim you can visit or check out her podcast, the SANE Crypto . You can also download her quick start guide or sign up for her webinar every Wednesday through the link above. Throughout this episode, you’ll also discover... The importance of targeting the right people for your membership site, how to find them and discovering the right message or “hook” that lures them to join your membership site. Find out what the reverse funnel concept is and why it’s the best strategy for solopreneurs and anyone who’s looking to start a membership site on their own. Find out Kim’s minimum viable approach to building her membership site’s content, how she successfully marketed it and much more. Kim’s advice on what to do, what not to do and when to do it when it comes to first launching a membership site. Building your marketing funnel for your membership is just like building a house, you start with the foundation first not the roof. [54:10] - Ann shares her thoughts on focus groups. [55:04] - We learn what Ann means when she talks about telling bolder stories. Today we are joined by a very dear friend & special guest - Micah Mitchell.. Micah has been growing and automating online businesses since I was first figuring out HTML. I met him via his online sales videos and ‘follow the bouncing ball' style infusionsoft ‘how to' videos.. In fact, Micah was one of the 3 guys who really helped me get my brain wrapped around business automation.. A year or so after I first found his stuff online, I bought into one of his courses.. few months later I joined one of his coaching programs… Time went on.. and a few years later, Micah became one of my own clients… Then we became good friends and I really owe this guy a lot.. He's the one some of the big names I'm sure people on this call have heard of - would sneak in the back door to setup their marketing for them. This will be our second interview with Micah.. The first was on the rockefeller habits, hiring right the first time around and creating info products people want. Today he's coming here as founder and CEO of Memberium - A tool for MEMBERSHIP SITES WITH WORDPRESS FINALLY MADE EASY.. right now they integrate with InfusionSoft & Active Campaign. If you own an online business this is a must have tool..   “According to Ryan Deiss, CEO of Digital Marketer it's hands down the best membership plugin available for Infusionsoft.” And in fact, just yesterday, another one of our previous guests posted on facebook: From Adam Urbanski - “The Millionaire Marketing Mentor” Just a huge shout-out to Micah Mitchell and David Bullock of the https://memberium.com fame. I needed to move four pretty complicated membership website off a different membership platform to Memberium so I had some questions about it and instead of just giving me an answer they pretty much rolled up their sleeves and jumped in to do what needs to be done and make the transition happen. Totally not expected and way beyond great customer service. Thank YOU - you guys rock! Testimonials like this are pretty standard in the ship Micah runs… He's an old hat behind the scenes and for the past couple years now has been helping businesses grow by creating sustainable, easy to implement membership programs… Using Membierum.. Today he's here to break down what has worked to test, build, launch and scale a profitable membership program. Enjoy!! ---   Mission Statement: My mission is to create 200 new multi-millionaire business owners who solve world problems with entrepreneurship. How? You'll do better when you know better. Would it help you to have a mentor who can cut your learning curve by sharing their mistakes with you so you could avoid them? Would it help you to talk to that mentor and learn how they shifted their mindset to allow success to happen in the first place? Would it help you to hear them talk to other high-level entrepreneurs about their journeys, their mistakes and how they overcame their challenges to create the lives and financial success they desire? At DigitalAccessPass.com, we recently got an email from a prospective customer, who said this, in part (paraphrasing): Finally, I have built a course that I will use for content, should I host it on my site, or put it on Udemy and then give free coupons to my members to take it on udemy? And I'm going to break up my answer into multiple episodes. So in today's part 1, before I can answer that question about Udemy, we first need to talk about the 3 options you have for running a membership site. 1) Self-Hosted WordPress Site 2) A fully-hosted membership site, and 3) A third-party marketplace like Udemy.com Let's get into each of these in more detail... 1) Self-hosted WordPress site: If you listen to Episode 3 of this podcast - this is episode 14, by the way. So the title of episode 3 was "$1.5 Billion for a Membership Site? Membership Site Dream Team" - you can listen to it at subscribeme.fm/3/ , I have talked about having your own domain, the kind of hosting you should use, and how you should have your own WordPress site, what to use for video, and so on. So having your own domain registered via Godaddy, your own hosting with liquid web - to support this show, please use my affiliate link , http://subscribeme.fm/liquidweb/ . Your own version of WordPress downloaded from WordPress.org and installed on your hosting account, and then using a membership plugin like DigitalAccessPass.com, now THIS... is a self-hosted WordPress membership site. So be sure to check out episode 3 at http://subscribeme.fm/3/ 2) A fully-hosted membership platform: The difference between self-hosted and fully hosted, means that on a fully-hosted platform, everything is stored on their servers. You can use your own domain, but the hosting, the content, the videos, the forums - all of these are hosted by someone else. Just like gmail hosts all of your own email. So these third-party platforms manage your site, the content, the security, the server updates, making backups of your content. They basically take care of all the "tech", and you just log in and create content and set up your funnels. Easier said than done. Sounds very simple, but in reality, it's not. Anyway, there are 3 commonly known, fully-hosted membership solutions: They are Kajabi.com, Nanacast.com and Rainmaker Platform. Kajabi is considered more newbie-friendly and easy to use when it comes to usability and look & feel of the web site. It is a proprietary platform where everything is hosted on their servers. Proprietary platform means, it's not running on WordPress. Which means you cannot easily extend the functionality of whatever they are offering simply by uploading a new plugin or a theme. That can be good or bad, depending on what you're looking to do with your web site. Nanacast is also a proprietary but more full-featured platform that comes with a lot of features, but it is generally considered complex to set up. Nanacast does offer a WordPress plugin to let you integrate your existing WordPress site with the main account on their server, but you will probably need to hire a Nanacast consultant to help you set it all up. Finally, Rainmaker Platform is from the team behind Copyblogger and Studiopress themes. It is all built on WordPress, but it is hosted on their servers. If you use Infusionsoft.com as your CRM, then you can use either Memberium.com or Infusionsoft-owned CustomerHub to integrate your membership site with Infusionsoft. DAP integrates with Infusionsoft too. So Kajabi, Nanacast and Rainmaker are all fully-hosted solutions, and these are a completely different animal compared to self-hosted solutions (like your own hosting account with  WordPress & DAP). And usually, such fully-hosted solutions start at about 100 dollars a month, and go up from there, depending on the number of users, and add-ons you purchase. So it could become pretty expensive over time - like 300 to 500 dollars a month. And even when you pay all that, you won't really have the full flexibility you can have with your own WordPress site. Here's a couple of key disadvantages of a fully-hosted membership solution: (check out the full episode to hear the rest...)
