Michael Kaiser is a humble leader who knows how to bring out the best in his team. Michael grew up working on his family farm in South Alabama. After high school, he began working on an engineering degree and completed a BS in nuclear engineering while serving in the US Navy. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Michael began working in the pulp and paper industry, where International Paper employed him. At International Paper, he frequently utilized Smith Industrial Services (SIS). as an industrial cleaning contractor. SIS eventually hired Michael to run a division of the company, leading him to his current role as Executive Vice President. He enjoys time with his wife, visiting friends and family, deep sea fishing, college football, nutrition, yoga, mindfulness and helping others. Episode Insight: Be intentional in the value you place on employees by engaging with them deeply and inspiring them to work as a united team. Background: Michael Kaiser is the Executive VP at Smith Industrial Services (SIS), based in Mobile, Alabama and is a customer of StoneAge. After getting to know Michael and being inspired by his servant leadership, I wanted to bring him on the show so you could learn a bit more about the very niche industry that StoneAge serves and the exceptional leaders in it. During the episode, Michael and I discuss how SIS lives its company values and invests in people, such as building strong relationships that create powerful teams. He shares how they have dramatically reduced turnover (we are in a high turnover industry because the work is hard and dirty) by creating a mentorship program aimed at helping teammates make it through their first 90 days. Michael tells us about growing up on a farm in South Alabama and how his parents instilled a deep work ethic at a young age that has carried throughout his career. Michael is the true epitome of servant leadership and he absolutely knows how to bring out the best in himself and his team. Have a listen, and let me know what you think! Gibson later became Director, West Coast Operations at American Film Institute, where she also served Director, NEA's Independent Filmmaker Program and Director, Center for Advanced Film and Television Studies. In 2000, she was appointed the fourth president and CEO of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters, the leading service and advocacy organization for the presenting industry worldwide. Gibson realized the need for a more comprehensive assessment of the performing arts in the context of a rapidly changing world and partnered with the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation to sponsor the first nationwide survey of the performing arts presenting field. Gibson engaged the association in new technologies and expanded its reach globally and across industry sectors, including partnerships with the leadership of Consejo Nacional de la Cultura y las Artes in Mexico; the French Embassy Cultural Services Division; the Netherlands Consulate and the Cultural Ministry of Colombia, among others. Gibson served as a Commissioner on the Culture Committee of the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO from 2005-2009 and testified with cellist Yo-Yo Ma about the challenges with nonimmigrant visa processing before the House of Representatives Government Reform Committee in 2005. Gibson also led the development of an eco-leadership forum that advances the goals and action agenda of Culture|Futures, an international collaboration of organizations and individuals in the nonprofit, for-profit, philanthropic, economic development, political and policy arenas who are shaping and delivering proactive support for the transition towards an Ecological Age by 2050.Gibson became an independent consultant in July 2011 and in 2012 formed Sandra L. Daniel Michael Kaiser ist Komponist vieler subtiler Filmmusiken - auch für den Tatort am 16.5. “Wo ist Mike”. Filmmusik, die nur das ohnehin Offensichtliche vertont, reizt ihn überhaupt nicht.
Hailing from Los Angeles by way of south Florida, Michael Kaiser is a singer-songwriter known for his somber and soulful musical delivery. Taking influence from artists old and new, Michael's melodies settle somewhere between Damien Rice and Leif Vollebekk often reading like poems. Settling in to Los Angeles just a short time ago, Michael has landed performances onto some of the city's most coveted stages including multiple stints at The Hotel Cafe, Desert Nights, Pappy and Harriets, The Satellite, and Highland Park Bowl to name a few. Michael's debut EP, Hello Coyote, is available now as of Jan 22, 2021 on all streaming platforms. “Hello Coyote brings together all of my muses: family, friendships, romance and the summer nights in any place on earth where it's warm enough to feel it in your bones. Over the last few years, writing and making music became my reasons for keeping on, and these songs are attempts to find the rhythm in life's changes and in life's heartache, and the coyotes, still running through the hills.” - Live at 5 is an Anchor Eighty Four Media original. An evil space Queen has set her sights on the planet Earth. Her nefarious plans to take over the world are already in motion. Only the bravery of one young boy can save the Earth and free the sinister Queen's slaves. Can he do it? Can Danny Johnson Save the World?! The 10th entry into the Mihmiverse, a film universe in and of itself created by writer and director Christopher R. Mihm, fits nicely after the events of one of the previous films, The Giant Spider, where we actually first meet, albeit briefly, the young Danny Johnson. The Holidays are upon the Johnson household and two young children beg their slumbering grandpa Dan to tell them a story to pass the time till dinner. Grandpa, after some coaxing, tells of the time he, his siblings and their friends, saved the world from alien invaders! The story unfolds and of course Danny is triumphant, but seeing the events and watching Mihm expertly tell an original story while paying homage to the films he so obviously loves, is a tremendous treat! References to the films of the 50's, which is the style Mihm emulates in all his movies, lovingly find their home here, and a line or two from the slightly more recent Ghostbusters finds their way into the film as well. As with many small budget independent movies, a director often has to rely on friends and family for the many parts as well as reach out to what can be a small pool of local actors. Making it even more difficult with "Danny Johnson Saves the World" the cast is, with only the fewest of exceptions, children! Pulling in Mihmiverse mainstays like James Norgard and Michael Kaiser for the few roles that needed full size people, Mihm cast his own son, Elliott, for the role of Danny Johnson. Being a good parent he also found homes for rest of the family too! Smart move dad! It's always dangerous casting kids in kids roles. (Why do you think most movies and TV shows star 20 something high school students?) Mihm gets pretty lucky. Elliott really appears to put in a ton of effort and it shows. The rest of the kids, whether it was planned or it worked itself out in production, are never given more than they can handle and what they are given they handle incredibly well. Pulling out all the stops for this one, Mihm not only casts children, he throws in puppets created by Stephanie Mihm (including an adorable little "Steve"), and even a few stop motion animated creatures from animator Norman Yeend! Oh, and no Mihm film would be complete without a monster or robot! Here, Mitch Gonzales's designed mechanized monstrosity may be one of the best Mihmiverse creations yet! I've not always been fair to all the Mihmiverse films. I watched the first movie, Monster of Phantom Lake and absolutely loved it! I quickly bought the others in the collection, which at the time went up to Attack of the Moon Zombies, and I found myself a little disappointed with them . I wanted more of what I loved about "Phantom Lake". To me they others were just missing "something". It wasn't until I watched House of Ghosts that I realized I may be the one watching them wrong. I was watching expecting the writer and director to try and duplicate everything about the first one, and that blinded me to the fact that each film was an experiment from a film maker that was not only exploring the craft of movie-making, but exploring his own universe. Each movie, while firmly planted in the Mihmiverse, was it's own "thing". Each paying homage to different films and film makers. Each with their own feel and look. I still have my favorites, but I can no longer say that there are any that I dislike. On that note, I loved Danny Johnson Saves the World. This is a movie for kids of all kinds and ages. Whether you grew up with the 50's films or just discovered them thanks to late night re-runs or dear old dad, and even if you never bothered to watch any of them before, this would make a great icebreaker!
