In this episode, Mike Jackness interviews Michael Kaufman – the CEO of ProTuff Products. We talk about Kaufman's journey in the e-commerce industry, how he differentiates his products by offering an extended warranty and how lifetime warranties guarantees 5 star reviews. How to Find a Profitable Product Course Open Now Still struggling to find your next great product? The EcomCrew How to Find a Profitable Course is open now and is just $499 for one week only. We'll cover everything from using the ‘Cockroach approach' to developing large and bulky products, avoiding placement fees, and more. Check it out now. How Do You Use Lifetime Warranties To Guarantee 5 Star Reviews? As a shopper on Amazon, you've probably bought something that have warranty cards as a part of the products' insert.  But most companies don't stand behind their warranty policy, or they just straight up have flimsy policies.  Having a lifetime warranty means that you'll have to approve every warranty that comes in, no matter what. However, the bright side to this is that this almost always guarantees a 5-star review since you will actually be standing behind your own warranty policy.  The Big Takeaways of Today's Episode Offering a lifetime warranty can help differentiate your products and build a solid review profile. Automating the warranty registration and claim process can save time and money, since you don't have to hire someone to approve warranties. Selling seasonal products can be challenging, but offering incentives for early registration and extending the product's use for other purposes can help mitigate the seasonality. Building a list through warranty registration is a TOS-compliant way to communicate with customers on Amazon. Choosing the right warranty duration and offering additional benefits can encourage customers to register and leave positive reviews. Open Brands: From Pools to New Markets. Exploring Entrepreneurship and Growth Strategies With Michael Kaufman   The conversation is a part of the "Open Brands" series, where brands openly discuss their experiences. The guest is Michael Kaufman, the founder of Pro Tuff Products, which started in 2014. Michael initially sold organic fertilisers and synthetic lubricants through a multilevel marketing company. In 2012, he started looking for online opportunities for income diversification and discovered Amazon. Michael began with retail arbitrage and later ventured into private labelling after attending a webinar by Amazing Selling Machines. They discuss the difference between the broader Amazon seller community and the Amazon FBA community. Michael didn't fully realise the potential of Amazon until a few years into selling on the platform. The conversation highlights the changing landscape of Amazon and the challenges faced as the market matured. Michael didn't set specific revenue goals but aimed to continuously grow sales and expand his business. They faced challenges in expanding their team and dealing with competition from low-cost Chinese sellers. They played catch up in a saturated category but managed to increase sales. They are looking for an exit strategy for their current brand and planning to launch a new brand. The new brand will focus on a telescoping pole with a patented locking mechanism. They launched their first product, a pool rake, and gradually added variations. They introduced a lifetime warranty, which was a differentiator in their category. They developed a good review profile and received positive feedback. They partnered with a pool pro who invented a new locking mechanism, which became their most profitable product. They used their subscriber list for product launches, including pre-orders and beta testing. They created a groundswell of engagement and feedback from their subscribers. They launched new products, including a flat skimmer and a pool brush, using their organic launch approach.

For our final episode of 2022, I'm happy to once again be sitting down with author Michael Kaufman to talk about is soon to be released book “The Last Resort,” second in the Jen Lu series. Here's a quick look at the synopsis:   It's March 2034, six months after D.C. police Detective Jen Lu and Chandler, her sentient bio-computer implanted in her brain, cracked the mystery of Eden. But the climate crisis is hitting harder than ever: A mega-hurricane has devastated the ecosystem, and waves of refugees are pouring into Washington, D.C. The rich live forever while the desperate scramble for the modified longevity treatment.   Then, the death of lawyer and media darling Patty Garcia, who won a court case for massive climate change reparations to be paid out by oil, gas and coal companies, signals a glaring red flag to a wider conspiracy. Jen and Chandler are called in to crack the case. Signs point to Patty's ex, James Culpepper, a former oil giant, but as the duo dig deeper, they turn up more suspects who might have an even greater motive for killing Patty.   Jen's search puts her in the crosshairs of those who will ensure the truth never comes to light, no matter the cost. As she continues to delve deeper into the seedy underbelly of the city, she has to move quickly — before she becomes next on the killer's list.   Michael and I talk about Jen and Chandler, both on their roles in the book and how they've changed since the events of the first novel. We dive deep into Chandler's function and how it reflects current technology as well as its future potential.    Micael's worked for years to end violence against women through the White Ribbon Campaign and help men to identify their misogynistic tendencies. We talk about the role this plays in his writing and what he hopes to accomplish with Jen as his lead character.

If the word ‘epicurean’ brings to mind a porcine man in a toga reclining on a velvet couch and dropping fat juicy grapes into his open mouth, one by one, you are not alone. But this caricature, probably the descendent of some ancient propaganda by rival philosophers, tells us very little in fact about Epicureanism - the worldview of the 4th century BCE Greek philosopher Epicurus and his later disciple Lucretius, whose ideas prefigured and shaped much of the modern world. My guest today is philosopher Catherine Wilson, author of the book How to be an Epicurean: The Ancient Art of Living Well. At a confusing cultural moment where many people are looking for a guiding framework, she’s here with a strident defense of Epicureanism as a way of life. In its pragmatic approach to embracing pleasure and minimizing pain, she sees a saner way of living in the world. And maybe enjoying a few juicy grapes while you’re at it. Michael Kaufman traces the contemporary movement for gender equality back to the Women's Suffrage efforts in the late 19th century, but only since the the 1980s have men started to join the cause in large numbers. His international white ribbon campaign has been raising awareness about violence against women since 1991, and his latest book, "The Time Has Come: Why Men Must Join the Gender Equality Revolution," is bringing the message to a new generation. In this Hack the Process interview, Michael tells us why this issue motivated him to make it the focus of his career, how he invested his own straight white male privilege to promote the cause, and what every man needs to understand about feminism and gender equality. “What I’m seeing here is this absolutely amazing paradox. We live in a world of men’s power, where just by the virtue of birth, half of us have certain privileges, but at the same time, the ways that we have traditionally defined men’s lives comes with a huge cost.” - Michael Kaufman At work and home, the gender equality revolution is critical for the advancement of women. However, today’s Finding Brave guest makes the case that this movement is also a great gift for men. There’s a paradox of men’s power that exists in this male-dominated world, but significant changes are being made to address the challenges it presents. Michael Kaufman, PhD, is a renowned writer, advisor, and speaker focused on engaging men to promote gender equality, end violence against women, and transform the lives of men. He has worked in 50 countries with the United Nations, governments, NGOs, women’s organizations, and businesses. He is the co-founder of White Ribbon Campaign, a Senior Fellow with Promundo based in Washington DC, and last year was the only male member of Justin Trudeau’s G7 Gender Equality Advisory Council The author of eight books, including two novels, Michael’s newest book is The Time Has Come: Why Men Must Join the Gender Equality Revolution. You’ll learn why having an having an open dialogue around gender equality is critical, but we must find positive ways to reach out to men to be part of the gender equality movement. As our expert guest shares, changes are happening that will positively affect not only this generation of men and women, but our children and future generations to come.
