Earl Ingram is joined by Robert Miranda of FLAC and Paul Schwartz from the Get the Lead Out Coalition in their initiative advocating for lead-free water. They will address a range of topics concerning the prevention of lead contamination in our public drinking water systems. Parents often cannot identify lead paint in residences, and upon relocating to new homes, they may come across these hazardous substances within the walls and paint. Paul emphasizes the critical importance of public education in this matter. Even if MPS, MPH, and MWW are taking all the necessary precautions, it is essential for the community to understand the importance of prioritizing filtration. The Earl Ingram Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs Monday through Friday from 8-10 am across the state. Subscribe to the podcast to be sure not to miss out on a single episode! Learn more about Denise at:Denise Vitola | LinkedInVitola Strategies | Public Relations | Corporate CommunicationsMarketing & Communications pro and celebrated health coach Denise Vitola wakes up every day on a mission to make people feel healthier and stronger. A slew of awards, industry-wide admiration and years of personal and professional accomplishments are proof that she gets the job done.A New Jersey native who studied in Italy and Greece before graduating from Rowan University, Denise kicked off her career in sports marketing at Alan Taylor Communications, where she immediately plugged in to the thrill of a fast-paced environment, high-profile celebrity clients, and travel to sporting events around the world. She jokes that she moved from the “locker room” of sports marketing to the “cheerleading team” of the tech sector when she started as Account Director at Kaplow. While developing innovative campaigns for iconic digital brands like PayPal, eBay and Netflix, her nimble thinking and inspirational leadership made it clear that Denise was more than a standout member of the squad; she was ready to manage the team. But unlike leaders who move up and away from the heart of ideation and execution, Denise was determined to remain a key creative player at every step of the development process. That was evident when she moved to MWW as Vice President and Director of Sports Marketing, overseeing the Bank of America account. Denise developed landmark integrated marketing strategies like the award-winning “Keep the Change” campaign that invited passersby everywhere from Grand Central Station to NFL games to dive into a giant couch and find change that could be exchanged for prizes. At the same time, she continued to hone her signature leadership style: a risk-taker confident in her skills and her talent; deeply involved in every account, but knowing when to step back and let her team shine. In 2006, Denise was recruited by Ogilvy to work on some of the biggest accounts in the marketing game: J&J, Unilever and TJX. She worked closely with powerhouse Barby Siegal, who, like mentors Jane Mazur and Maureen Lippe, taught Denise how to be fearless in her craft. She quickly found herself leaning in to untapped marketing opportunities in digital and social, certain it was the core of connection with consumers. It was at MSL Group that Denise applied the full power of her creativity and process to the #1 marketer in the world, P&G. She became a social media savant, taking big swings that led to big payoffs, and increasing revenue by over 80%. In 2013 Denise moved to MSL Atlanta, where she coached her team to create innovative digital campaigns for clients like Home Depot.Returning to New York in 2014, Denise had an a-ha moment of her own: every day she was helping the world become stronger and healthier through marketing. She felt that brands had a responsibility to do just that. But what about her own passion for health and wellness…the joys of fitness, nutrition and teamwork that led her to work in sports marketing at the very beginning of her career? Denise made two big moves: she got certified in nutrition and as a health coach (Vitola Well); and she launched her own marketing consultancy, Vitola Strategies. Denise was not only well-ing the world, she was well-ing herself, and the result was transformational. In 2016 she won PR Campaign of the Year for Abbott Similac “Sisterhood of Motherhood”; and in 2017, she was named a Women's Health magazine Action Hero. To this day Denise teaches three spin classes a week, unwilling to forgo the psychological and physiological boost that powers her body, mind and soul. Many of Denise's former clients followed her to Vitola Strategies; one of them, Patrick Lockwood-Taylor, put her on speed dial when he landed as President of Bayer USA. The closer she worked as a consultant with Bayer brands and embraced the Bayer tagline (“Science for a Better Life”), she realized she had found a place where her personal and professional insights aligned. In July 2021 she became Bayer's VP Brand Integration PR, Social and Influencer for Consumer Health and quickly applied her proprietary process emphasizing social and digital consumer outreach, building Bayer's digital footprint from a tiptoe to a tidal wave. Within months she launched nearly 100 influencer campaigns and award-winning integrative marketing campaigns like Midol's “No Apology Period”, Aleve's “Worst Golf Swing in America” with Charles Barkley, and T-Pain's remake of the classic Alka Seltzer jingle, resonating with consumers and elevating Bayer's market reach by the millions. In 2021, she was named a PRNews “Top Woman in PR”.For Denise, well-ing the world goes far beyond what happens in the office (or outside of it – she's a big fan of remote work). Like the influential female mentors in her own life, she works with young women to nurture their professional selves and shape their futures. She is the Co-Lead of GROW (Growing Representation & Opportunities) at Bayer, an employee network group focused on equal representation, leadership, and recognition; and she actively works to recruit a diverse team of employees that can speak to the health needs of diverse audiences. Of course Denise continues to follow her own passions: working out, teaching spin and walking her dogs near her home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She loves the beach and the great outdoors, reading war and crime novels, and traveling the world with her husband of over 20 years.Creative and confident. Playful and proactive. Bold, badass, and a leader in the business of making people and communities healthier and stronger…that's Denise Vitola.
On the Missouri Woods & Water podcast this week we talk about our experience at this year's ATA show. Andy kind of "interviews" Nate & Micah about the show and what we liked etc. We talk about some cool new products we saw and each of our favorite products at the show. That list grows throughout the show as we remember more and more of the stuff we liked too. We also talk about some of the stories and things that happened while there. Overall, it was a great experience for the MWW crew in Indianapolis and we hope to go again. Thanks for listening. Check out the Sportsmen's Empire Podcast Network for more relevant outdoor content! This week on the Missouri Woods & Water podcast the guys are joined by friend of the show Pat again to talk about their rut/rifle season. Starting the night before Missouri's rifle season, the MWW crew was able to find some success in the deer woods over the rut. We get into those stories and what we did to find success in those situations. We are also joined by Nate's 9 year old son Chase as he gets to tell the story of his first ever deer. Overall, the rut was pretty kind to us and we hope it was kind to our listeners as well. One thing is for sure, the rut can produce some of the craziest times in the woods of the entire year.

On the Missouri Woods & Water podcast this week, the crew breaks down our hot streak during the rut. First, our buddy and returning guest Pat Slivkov talks about taking down an awesome buck just before rifle season hit on November 11th. He battled through some adversity to get it done this year. Next, Nate breaks down how he finally caught up with a buck he has been after nicknamed Noob Saibot. Nate has known Noob for several years and has been after him and another buck all year. In our episode a few weeks ago, Nate talked about how he just couldn't seem to catch up to Noob, but on opening morning of rifle season he made a good decision that led to killing this target buck. Last, Andy tells the story that led to him being tagged out in Missouri for the year. After harvesting his early archery season deer that he discussed in our epiosde a few weeks back, he got back at it once rifle season hit. On November 15th, the third day of the rifle season, Andy came across a deer he has known, but this time noticed something very different about him. After watching him for a while, Andy decided to punch his tag on that awesome mature buck. Micah hasn't punched a tag yet, but he talks through his year so far as well. One thing is for sure, our little MWW family had one hell of a week during the rut. We hope that anyone who hasn't gotten it done so far this year can make it happen throughout the rest of the season. Good luck the rest of the year! Missouri Woods & Water is Powered by Simplecast

How do you stand out in a world of shouting content? What does the new resilience look like in the face of such a volatile human climate? How will we continue to build our businesses and communicate through the noise of the busiest news cycle in memory? My guest Michael Kempner and I discuss the shift in content strategy that happened almost overnight, and what it’s like living in a moment where it’s critically important to be aligned with purpose. In Kempner’s words, “The era of silent CEOs is over,” and we explore what that means for brands, entrepreneurs, and marketing communications in this time of fierce division and limited reach. Michael Kempner is the founder and CEO of MWW, one of the biggest independent PR firms in the world. He is a husband, a dad of three, oversees MWW, works in progressive politics, sits on multiple philanthropic boards as well as the board of American University. He also founded ConnectOne Bank, one of the nation’s most successful community banks. Tune in. Listen. Rate & Review.

Almost ten years ago, Lauren Wesley Wilson was aiming to climb the ad agency corporate ladder. But she was deterred; she didn’t see anyone who looked like her. No African American, LatinX or Asian men or women in leadership roles. So, she began a series of luncheons in her town of Washington, DC, “to bring together people of color in our industry because so many of us in the space were feeling isolated and alone...and we didn't have a community to call on as it relates to new business or getting promoted or how to navigate corporate America. Those series of luncheons became ColorComm, Inc., a national platform to advance women of color in business, now nine years and nine cities strong, with thousands of members. And, participants include names like Gayle King, Gloria Steinem, Bozoma Saint John, and Shelley Zalis. Some of the leading brands in media and marketing are sponsors -- from MWW and Edelman PR agencies, to Coke, Nike, ViacomCBS, Comcast and Publicis Groupe. In this conversation with media journalist and podcast host, E.B. Moss, Wilson talked about the strides made, the ongoing challenges for people of color, and the business imperative for the industry to include them. Highlights: On Data: "There's so much data out there, but it's about action and execution. Where I see companies fail are those companies that don't line-item a budget around changing this landscape. They spent all their money to get the data, but they haven't allocated money for change." On Action Items: "People of color in the agency, marketing and advertising space is such a small percent. So, if a company looks at its numbers and sees just a handful of people there, they need to set them up for advancement. But it’s two-fold: the individual working in the company oftentimes doesn't have the skills to know what to do. And that's why organizations like ColorComm exist, to train you, to give you the tools and resources and professional development and skills to understand your role within your company." Get all her thoughts and recommendations on thriving through diversity and inclusion, and how ColorComm is helping everyone step up by listening to the full episode.
