I'm honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with OLIPOP soda? Please go to www.drinkolipop.com, use promo code JAYREELZ for 15% off of your purchase. Delivering the first of two podcasts as my journey on the road continues, so hop on board to listen to what it is I have to say about what's happening in the world of sports and with yours truly. On deck: (3:06) Back doing another podcast ‘al fresco', outdoors in the sunshine of Central Florida. I'll share the past four days of my trip. Spending time with family, where my next destination after today will be and even suffering a foot injury while trying to pursue a personal challenge which fell flat after two days. Also, I plug the OLIPOP soda promo which is I implore you to do so. (8:36) What was built up to be a thrilling Sunday at The Open Championship with a dozen golfers in the mix to win the final major of 2024, Xander Schauffele pulled away from the pack to win his second major in the last three (He won the PGA two months ago) squashing whatever drama us fans were anticipating going into the final round. I'll discuss how Schauffele was ready for the moment, unlike years prior. How Shane Lowry's Saturday doomed him from winning a major tournament. And Rory McIlroy's quest for another major will have to wait another year as his decade-long drought continues. (18:05) Baseball resumed its schedule over the weekend. The one series that caught my attention was the Seattle Mariners losing grip of first place in the AL West as the Houston Astros won two of three in the Pacific Northwest. Can the Mariners right the ship with a struggling offense and their best player (Julio Rodriguez) out of the lineup for the foreseeable future? What about the Astros? Are they serious contenders in the AL after a dreadful 12-24 start? I'll keep you posted as the NL Wild Card race is a log jam and what series will pique my interest in the early part of this week. (35:29) With the Olympics on the horizon, the US Men's Basketball Team avoided a scare as South Sudan gave them a run for their money in a game on Saturday. Does this mean anything heading into the Games on Friday? Does Russell Westbrook's trade to Utah and eventual move to Denver move the needle? The defending champion Boston Celtics signed Sam Houser to a four year/$45 million dollar deal. This includes Jayson Tatum, Derrick White and Jrue Holiday signing massive extensions over the past couple of months. Is this a high risk with the salary cap/luxury tax threshold forthcoming? And how I feel that this core MUST win at least one more title to cement their legacy during this run! (42:49) NFL training camps will be in full bloom come Wednesday as football will be a part of our consciousness moving forward. Do I really have to hear Ravens coach John Harbaugh come to the defense of his quarterback, Lamar Jackson? This is after he failed to take his team to the Super Bowl after another MVP season. I'll get into a couple of retirements (Shaq Barrett and Kenyon Drake) and the aforementioned Ravens signing some secondary help (former Bears S Eddie Jackson) (48:21) ESPN recently published a top 100 athletes of the 21st century list, which YOU KNOW, I've got major problems with. I'll just take it from the top 25 to number one as I can spend an entire podcast as to what's completely wrong about this list. CORRECTION: I mentioned Nellie Fox, when I meant to say Jimmie Foxx as one of the top right handed hitters of all time, in discussing Albert Pujols. (57:05) I even mention the winner of the Tour de France as it concluded yesterday in Nice, and not in Paris due to the Olympics on Friday. Tadej Pogacar had a historic double to win cycling's Super Bowl. Raffy Devers continues to swing an unreal bat despite his sore shoulder by crushing a two-run home run to give the Red Sox a 2-1 lead in the first.
Jon Finger, my guru of AI filmmaking tools, discusses their impact on the creative industries from the perspective of an early adopter. While acknowledging tools like image generation raise valid concerns, Jon believes AI can empower independent artists by lowering barriers to distribution. Jon shares experiences experimenting with AI storytelling but finds human connection vital. He stresses respecting one's creative process over shortcuts. We chat about AI-assisted editing, generative content, and licensing issues for visual creators. The take away is hopeful: AI can supplement but cannot replace human creativity or the fulfillment found through disciplined craft. Thanks Jon for a great chat. Am Ufank, nodeems d'Nazi Truppen a Lëtzebuerg amarschéiert waren, goufen et aner féierend Wäerter, op déi d'Exilregierung a sengen Aussoen higewisen huet: Et goung iwwer Fräiheet, Onofhängegkeet, national Souveränitéit - vun Demokratie goung keng rieds. Am Laf vun 1941 hunn awer d'Bindunge mat den Alliéierten bedeit, datt de Begrëff Demokratie no an no Akzeptanz krut.

The report said, “As America’s aging and highly educated work force moves into retirement, the nation will rely on young Americans to increase our standing in the world.” The problem is that today’s young Americans are not coming close to acquiring the education and training needed to carry out that mission. They’re not even in the ballpark. In that key group, 25- to 34-year-olds with a college degree, the U.S. ranks behind Canada, South Korea, Russia, Japan, New Zealand, Ireland, Norway, Israel, France, Belgium and Australia.
