Discover the magic of community-driven cat rescue in our latest Friends Like Us episode. Join host Marina Franklin, Becky Wisdom from Green Point Cats, and comedian Subhah Agarwal as they chat about cat colonies, TNR, and the urgency to help communities in the over populations of cats. Becky Wisdom is the founder of Greenpoint Cats, a leading Brooklyn-based animal rescue organization focused on TNR (trap, neuter, return). Her journey into rescue began in 2018 when she moved to Greenpoint and found herself living on a block with a crew of unforgettable feline neighbors—an encounter that inspired her to take action. What started as an effort to help a few street cats quickly became a full-time calling. By 2020, Becky had left her career in marketing to devote herself entirely to rescue work. Her grassroots efforts sparked a growing community of animal advocates in Greenpoint and beyond, building a network of support and care for some of the city's most vulnerable animals. Her passion for rescue is deeply rooted in her upbringing, which included daily chores like caring for opossums and rehabilitating birds. With media coverage from New York Magazine, the Hallmark Channel, and several local TV news outlets, Becky continues to save lives—and inspire others to do the same. Subhah Agarwal has brought an honesty to her comedy that will leave you saying "I didn't need to know that." Subhah has written for Netflix's “Arsenio Hall” limited series, the "Plan B" movie on Hulu," and The Jim Jefferies Show"on Comedy Central, amongst others. It's an Election year and so we are re-airing this important episode. Subhah Agarwal and Sharon Lavigne visit friends and discuss Sharon Lavigne's battle for clean air and justice, taking on the big industries that have created Louisiana's “Cancer Alley” -- nicknamed for the above-average rates of cancer within the 85-mile stretch of communities with the highest concentration of fossil fuel and petrochemical operations in the Western Hemisphere. Sharon Cayette Lavigne, Times voted Sharon one of the most influential people of 2024. A native of St. James, Louisiana, boasts a distinguished 38-year career as a devoted Special Education teacher within the St. James Parish school system. In 2018, she embarked on a transformative journey by founding RISE St. James, a faith-based grassroots nonprofit dedicated to advocating for clean air, clean water, and combating the proliferation of petrochemical industries in St. James Parish. Despite humble beginnings, Sharon's vision drew around ten passionate individuals to her inaugural gathering, hosted at her residence. Transitioning to retirement in 2018, Sharon's unwavering commitment to environmental justice remains evident, guided by her principle: "To love a community is to find ways to heal the community." Her tireless dedication garnered global recognition in June 2020 when she received the esteemed Goldman Environmental Prize for her resolute activism. Adding to her accolades, Sharon received the Mary Magdalene Award for Courageous Women of Faith from the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola in February 2022, followed by the prestigious Notre Dame's 2022 Laetare Medal—a testament to her invaluable contributions as an American Catholic layperson. In August 2022, the Urban League of Louisiana's Annual Gala honored Sharon Lavigne's indomitable spirit, solidifying her legacy. Amidst her remarkable achievements, Sharon remains a devoted mother of six and a cherished grandmother to twelve—a testament to the unwavering support she receives from her loving family. Sharon Lavigne's story epitomizes tenacity, passion, and unwavering commitment to the environment and community, inspiring positive change. My Cool Friend, the incredible comedian/writer/actor/host Subhah Agarwal really does so much that it's genuinely hard to keep track of all the cool stuff she's been up to. From her brand new standup album Dog Show, writing on projects like the Jim Jeffries Show, acting in shows like Westworld (RIP), or co-hosting her podcast Family Gems, it's wild she managed to find any time to speak with me. BUT SHE DID! So sit back and enjoy the talk, go follow Subhah on the socials (TW: @Subhah, IG @Subhaha) and BUY HER ALBUM!

And speaking of existence… will Subhah get a chance to find out that “… there is no spoon…”? Find out, M.A.S.H.-style!

In this episode we interview two writers from the political satire show The Jim Jefferies Show. Two stand up comedians, Curtis Cook and Subhah Agarwal, sound appreciative to work with the great comedian Jim Jefferies. Having the opportunity to watch an incredibly talented comedian Jim Jefferies churn out these amazing rants, jokes and take on US politics and world issues is a real eye-opener for Cook and Agarwal. This fun episode is filled with some really helpful advice on sometimes doing the things you don't know will have a payoff, but with hard work and determination (also sheer grit, luck and a good manager) you can get some really awesome opportunities. What helps is that you do the work. Both Curtis and Subhah are talented and funny comedians, and it sounds like the Jim Jefferies Show is a fun place to be - even if it might be depressing to learn just how bad US socio-political situation is getting, and just how weird our world can be.
Comedian Subhah Agarwal had a reputation as one of the hardest working open mic comedians in the game when the PBS web series Modern Comedian devoted an entire episode to her. But she's not known as an "open micer" anymore. Subhah discusses quantity vs. quality, writing habits, and whether people notice when you work hard enough or if you need to "hustle," which sparks a debate between Jake and Stu on the legitimacy of the "be so good they can't ignore you" philosophy. After putting in countless hours and waiting for people to notice, Subhah has some advice about making things happen for yourself by going after what you want. Comedian Subhah Agarwal is driven. She talks with Will about the desire to excel academically before finding comedy. Sneaking out of her parents house to do open mics, Driving hours for stage time while pursuing and advanced degree, and some serious shop talk on road work, New York City clubs and college shows. Oh boy, where do we START with this one? Subhah Agarwal (comedian/TV writer) drops by to talk about being a quasi-valedictorian, snorting things so she could work harder, and working as a clown, on a boat, in Pittsburgh. WHAT? Right. Subhah is an NYC-based stand up comic and regular at The Stand, and she has...
A comedy career was something Subhah's Indian parents thought was going to be a hobby! Surprise! Going on her 10th year (and considered to be one of the hardest working comics out there), hear how she got her folks to take her to her first open mic, worked crazy jobs, got attacked and made her mark on the comedy scene when she sits down with Red Light's Gina Savage! Special thanks to George Diaz for sound engineering, Al Martin & Broadway Comedy Radio!
HAPPY NEW YEAR, HAPPY NEW YOU! (J/K you're still a piece of shit.) Welp, it's 2015 and Corinne & Krystyna are still fucking guys and talking about it. This week, the gals of Sorry About Last Night welcome possibly the hardest working living comedian (since Joan Rivers is dead), SUBHAH AGARWAL. Brought up in a strict Hindu household by Indian parents whose marriage was arranged, it's taken Subhah a long time to get her freak on (and, if you ask her mother, she's still a virgin). But, now that she's popped...the fun don't stop! (SO sorry about that.) Listen in as the girls talk through the logistics of fucking in the back seat of a car, legally obligating the love of your life to do shit for you for forever, and the proper precautions to take if you get cum on your hand. PLUS: Kaley Cuoco, fucking a guy with a girlfriend, and transgender is the new gay.
