When you're in the middle of pain, do you allow yourself to feel it? For example, when sudden emotions become overwhelming do you let yourself say… “I feel like I am going crazy from the hot flashes and emotions.” “My emotions make me feel like I am a teenager with PMS.” Do you acknowledge how exhausted you feel? Or do you stuff it down? We all go through tough times. But some struggles feel heavier than others and they can shake you to your core.  Physical pains are tough, and so are the mental wounds associated with them.  If, like me, you've been through hard times, then you're probably familiar with feelings of hopelessness... And the feeling of resisting something new. Here's a beautiful truth: When you feel like you're resisting something, you probably need to move toward it. I'm still afraid of my workouts, especially the new ones...  But I feel the fear and I do it anyway and I think that is the key...  Allow yourself to feel the feelings but still do it anyway rather than let the feelings that you have hold you back from getting something done. I talk more about that in today's podcast episode with Bob DePasquale.  Bob was diagnosed with testicular cancer while he was in college. He also witnessed the 9/11 tragedy firsthand just five days after getting his cancer diagnosis.  Those experiences shaped him and led him to share the message that although life is full of struggles, the learning experience you gain from it leads to growth. If you're somebody who wants to grow even in these trying times, tune in to this episode!  Discussion Points:  [0:00] Introduction and Offer  [2:38] Bob shares his storywhen he got his diagnosis  [8:56] Next steps for Bob while getting treatment  [13:13] 9/11 as experienced by Bob  [16:09] The importance of a checklist  [16:39] Lingering issues Bob faced  [18:38] Managing the curveballs by allowing yourself to feel the feelings  [20:29] Self-actualization [22:45] The brilliance of the body  [24:21] Latent potential   [27:28] Learning new skills  [29:33] Kindness is contagious  [33:11] What Bob teaches and who he serves  [36:36] Questions to ask one's self in finding your purpose  About the Guest: Bob DePasquale is a motivated, passionate, and engaging communicator. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer on September 6, 2001, while starting college in New York that same year. Five days after his diagnosis, he witnessed the September 11 tragedy, a day that no one will ever forget.  It took him only six months to treat his cancer, but the mental wounds associated with the 9/11 tragedy and the cancer diagnosis took two years to treat. His journey is what led him to share his message with the world. A message that although life is full of struggles, we can all learn from them.  Resources: Check my latest podcast or listen to the previous ones (https://www.menopausemovement.com/blog)   Connect with me on Instagram (@drmichellegordon) Follow me on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/drmichellegordon)  Check out our course you can take in exchange for feedback and a video testimonial and avoid the application here: (https://www.menopausemovement.com/hormones)   Sign up for the video workshop here (https://www.menopausemovement.com/workshop)  Visit Bob DePasquale's website (https://www.bobdepasquale.com/)  Books mentioned in this episode: The Obstacle Is the Way: The Timeless Art of Turning Trials into Triumph (https://amzn.to/3trZGf8)  For more podcast episodes, you may also visit my website. As a passive investors, we understand the importance of building a diverse portfolio. And while multifamily is the best investment on the planet, it doesn’t hurt to explore our options, especially when BIG opportunities present themselves. So, what are the opportunities in oil right now? And how do we choose a project that is likely to succeed? Not only are you going to earn more money on facebook ads, you will stop losing money on wasted facebook ads. Join us today as Bob who has been working with facebook ads since 2013 shares his knowledge in the facebook world.  My Guest: Bob Regnerus Coach Bob Regnerus is the Co-Founder of Feedstories, a digital marketing expert, and author of five books, including the 4th Edition of the Ultimate Guide to Facebook Advertising (Entrepreneur Press). Since 1998, Bob has been helping his clients achieve their goals through digital media and storytelling, and he is eager to share his experience with you. Bob is a sought-after expert in the area of Facebook Advertising and Deep Funnel Marketing™ strategies. Most importantly, Bob is a husband to his high school sweetheart and a dad to 2 amazing daughters and is a high school basketball coach. Pivotal moments ·       When Bob finished college in the early 90's he worked at a couple of corporations working on mainframe programming. ·       He got interested in web programming as that was starting to become a viable kind of field for Bob. ·       Bob built his first website in 1998 for local sporting goods retailer, and they are still his client 23 years later. ·       Bob preferred paid advertising, because he liked the predictability of paid traffic. ·        When Bob began Facebook advertising in 2013, it was a great match for him because he is big on stories, he is an author, he posted radio shows for 3 years, and loved hearing stories. ·       A company that sold headbands for $20 hired Bob. They created a short video with a story about the headband. They created a brand because of this story; it became an 8 figure business. ·       What Bob loves about the facebook platform, is it allows you to combine marketing fundamentals with stories and that's what really makes a great facebook campaign. It is the ability to connect those in a really meaningful way with your audience. ·       Bob always advises his clients to become a personality, and personable as much as you can. ·       The advantage of using facebook ads, is you can pull someone into your world with value and start to track them. You're giving the prospect some breathing space, until they feel ready to do business with you. ·       When people raise their hand and say they are interested, you give them opportunities to engage with you and that is where the calls to action go. Advice The reason people would choose facebook over google, is because google is mainly for someone who has a problem, whereas facebook is where people go and settle in. When it comes to paid facebook ads, the first thing you need to know is how your organic marketing got you to where you are within your business, and then facebook ads will amplify that. Once you know your target audience, you model that and create a look alike audience. Since you are giving facebook a blueprint of the audience that follow and invest in you facebook will then find more of those people, and you can then draw them to the media that you feel most comfortable. Bob continues, when it comes to business, it's all about relationships. Noone wants to invest their money into shallow relationships. SO if you are going to do a product launch, you need to build up your following months in advance, shower content on your followers and prove your value. Paid advertising is a way to get a following faster, but you still need to have the goods. Facebook ads are more for those with higher complex services or products. They need to build a long term platform to turn followers and prospects into customers....

Aloha TTSP Listeners! Calling all Dog Moms and Dads! Moi Moi Market is now selling artisan made dog collars from Chiapas, Mexico. I'm in LOVE! But what I love more than the product is the mission of Amor Handmade. "Our project aims to address socioeconomic problems within artisan communities. For the majority of artisans, work is only seasonal and dependent on tourism. Due to these meager seasonal earnings, the next generation of artisans is abandoning their cultural arts for alternatives such as strenous work on farms or factories. This takes them on dangerous journeys far away from their homes for little gain. This results in the loss of culturally significant techniques, great personal risk for each artisan, and no way to improve their quality of life or economic situation. To tackle these issues, every sale at AMOR supports artisan women with steady local employment. With AMOR, they can work from the safety of their homes and not worry about when or where they can sell their wares. We pay upfront because their financial security comes first. We hope to preserve their arts and create a brighter, safer future for their families and culture." Bob Waliszewski, a former Focus on the Family Plugged In Movie Critic, talks with Chris about his journey of Amor Handmade and how it impacts artisans. What Bob found fascinating, was the alternative employment for these people...a modern form of slavery. So by purchasing a dog collar, dog leash, bracelet, and/or earrings you are empowering individuals to earn a fair wage while doing something they LOVE! Chris's mission is to increase the quality of products while using the artisan's craft and skill. Amor Handmade is focused on modern and practical products which is what is needed to help a small community break into a western market. It's exciting to pamper your pooch while using your dollar to change lives. And that's what Moi Moi Market is all about.

Creative Breakthrough: Jumpstart your Creative Career

Welcome to the Creative Breakthrough    I am your host Shereen Kassam    This week, we continue our conversation with the Founder of Def Comedy Jam – Bob Sumner    Before we jump in to part 2 of our conversation with Bob –    This season, I’m going to spend a lot of time talking about monetizing your creative passion and side hustles.      With many cities starting to open up performance spaces such as bars, clubs, and theater spaces I want to share some personal thoughts.    Yes, people are struggling financially.  Yes, unemployment is high.  Yes, people are scaling back on their spending.    But – people are still paying Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ their monthly subscription.  People are still eating out.  And people are still buying things they don’t need on Amazon.      So you do not need to start charging less than you are worth.      Yes, we are all excited to get back out there and start performing.  Yes, there may be less people in the seats due to social distancing.  Yes, the promotor may tell you he won’t be making as much money from each show.  But no, that doesn’t mean you are worth any less.    I’ve been getting tons of audition requests for acting.  Pre-Covid these requests were for $1500 to $2000 for a one year buy out.  Now?  These requests are for $400 and for use for life.  That’s cheap! And as much as I want to act again, and perform, I cannot allow myself to sell my image for life for $400 and neither should you.      The companies paying for these commercials stand to gain thousands of dollars from these ads, so why shouldn’t you also benefit?    As your cities start opening up and people start reaching out to you to perform, please do not perform for free if the producers of the shows/commercials stand to make money.    Because if we all go out and perform for free, we set a precedent of how much we value ourselves and of our talents.      And if you don’t get paid, how are you going to survive on your art?        This week I continue chatting with Bob Sumner –   On the previous episode, Bob shared his vision for Def Comedy Jam, what he looks for in talent, and his advice to creatives.      Bob is best known as the co-creator of HBO’s Russell Simmon’s Def Comedy Jam, a recognized force in the world of comedy and the man behind most comedy legends.  With over 25 years of experience, Bob has discovered many of the top gifted comedians that have graced the stages and big screens around the world, including Kevin Hart, Bill Bellamy, Mike Epps, Dave Chapelle, Sheryl Underwood, Chris Tucker, Cedric The Entertainer, and Bernie Mac.  One day, he will add me to this list!    Bob is the executive partner in LaffMobb Enterprises which has produced specials that have aired on Showtime, DirectTV and OnDemand.  He is also the executive producer of LaffMobb’s We Got Next and LaffMobb’s LaffTracks.     So what are we waiting for, let’s get started.     Key Questions answered by Bob Sumner:  Which is better LA or NYC for creatives  What Bob wants his legacy to be     Bob Sumner Discusses:  Bob’s advice for comedians and creatives   How to be successful as a creative  Next on Bob’s journey    Key Takeaways from Bob Sumner  Know your end goal or your legacy  Keep creating, even if there is nowhere to perform   Speak your goals in to existence    Contact Bob:  Facebook: .com/groups/130660473567  Twitter: twitter.com/bobsumner24  Instagram: Instagram.com/bob.sumner    Who am I?    I’m Shereen Kassam, the host of Creative Breakthrough and internationally touring speaker and comedian.  If you are looking for a speaker to talk on topics including creativity, branding, or work life balance, get in touch! Bob is a Certified Educator in Personal Finance (CEPF®) and started SeedTime (formerly ChristianPF) in 2007 with a passion to help fellow believers learn how to manage their money wisely. His personal mission (and the SeedTime mission) is to make, save, grow, and give money to benefit others. After all, life isn’t about the accumulation of things but is about how we can make the world a better place by giving. Once he realized that by paying off his debt, he could fund God’s Kingdom instead of paying interest to banks, it provided a deeper level of motivation to get out of debt. That sealed the deal, and Bob and his wife Linda spent the next couple years paying off their $46k of debt in their first years of marriage.  Bob also has a passion for helping entrepreneurs get their business ideas off the ground and has written 2 books helping bloggers and wanna-be-bloggers build and grow their blogs. When Bob isn’t working, he is likely hanging with his wife Linda and their kids, Alden, Valerie, and Oliver, working on his garden, eating some artisanal dark chocolate, playing guitar, or riding his motorcycle. Sometimes all at the same time. In this episode, you'll learn: How Bob became a full-time blogger and blogging as a business. What Bob learned from taking a full year off from work, with no email or social media. Make sure you listen to the end to hear about Bob's big giving goals, like giving away nearly 40% of his income! Enjoy the Process or the End (LA 1146) Transcript: Steven Butala: Steve and Jill here. Jill DeWit: Hello. Steven Butala: Welcome to The Land Academy Show, entertaining land investment talk. I'm Steven Jack Butala. Jill DeWit: And I'm Jill DeWit broadcasting from sunny Southern California. Steven Butala: Today Jill and I talk about, do you enjoy the process or the end? This is what Jill just said. What the hell were you thinking when you did this? I don't get it. Jill DeWit: I didn't I say it like that. Steven Butala: And I said, don't worry, I'll carry you. Jill DeWit: Why do you do that to me? You like to throw me under the bus. So, and I didn't do that. I just, I really sincerely asked, because I'm sitting here making notes about what I think it is, and I'm like, "Where were you going with this?" And it wasn't- Steven Butala: Here's Jill's mix. Let me read your notes, okay? Jill DeWit: Yeah. Steven Butala: A. What is this? Jill DeWit: Right. Steven Butala: B. Benefits, if any? C. Us. Jill DeWit: Yeah. And I'll explain my notes here in a minute. But I would like to know, seriously, are you going to share it for the meat of the show? Steven Butala: There are some people who really enjoy the process of doing stuff, I assume people who do crafts or people who build models, which I guess is a craft, or well, people who play cards until the middle of the night with each other, I think enjoy the process, not the end. Jill DeWit: Are they really playing cards or is that code for something else? Steven Butala: You decide. Jill DeWit: Okay. Steven Butala: See, you always bring it to that point, don't you? Jill DeWit: Why is- Steven Butala: Is it rated G, Jill, this episode? We never know. Jill DeWit: Well we have used that term for other things. It's why I'm asking. Steven Butala: I actually mean playing poker- Jill DeWit: Oh, okay, got it. Steven Butala: with a bunch of guys until the middle of the night, okay? Jill DeWit: Okay, thank you. All right, thank you. Steven Butala: So you either enjoy the process. I think you kind of lean toward one or the other. You either enjoy the process of doing something or you're getting through the process to get to the end so you can say, "This is freaking done and I'd like to do something else." I know which kind you are. Jill DeWit: Oh, totally. Steven Butala: And I know which kind I am. Jill DeWit: Exactly. Steven Butala: And I bet most of the people listening to this don't enjoy the process of doing a mailer. They enjoy the bank deposits at the end. Jill DeWit: Ding, ding. Steven Butala: Before we get into it, though, let's take a question posted by one of our members on the landinvestors.com online community. It's free. Jill DeWit: Bob asked, "How do you send a targeted mailer when there is no sense to the APN scheme?" Thanks. Now, did you write this there, or did you reply online? Steven Butala: I edited and improved on, in my opinion, Kevin Pharrell's response. Who at the moderator for land investors. You don't have to read it. I can just answer it. Jill DeWit: Okay. Steven Butala: What Bob is asking is, if you look at a data set for a county or a zip code and it's in an Excel spreadsheet and of course you can take all that dataset and sort. You can sort by name, owner's name. You can sort by anything. Square footage if it's a house, acreage if it's land. Or you can sort numerically by the actual APNa and then you can make some sense out of it. But in very rare cases, for some reason in the very deep South, it's like this. There's no rhyme or reason at all for the APN. So it just randomly got assigned. Steven Butala: So in most counties, the vast majority of counties, East, West, North, South, all of it. There's an APN scheme. So back in the day when the county was getting subdivided and people were developing it, the assessor would say, "This subdivision over here starts with 1-800-34 and then it goes to 35, 36." You can make some sense out of it. What Bob saying is,

Welcome to episode 203 of the LJS Podcast where today I talk with special guest and LJS community member, Bob Petix about his journey as a jazz bassist. He talks about getting started playing bass in his late 40's and how he has developed in his musicianship since then. We talk what's working for him in the practice room and some of the key things that has stimulated his musical improvement. Listen to episode 203 One of the biggest themes for Learn Jazz Standards this year 2020 is community. This is really the year of community where we are building community and we are learning from each other as a community because I do believe that this is the best way that we can truly learn — it's from each other. And so one thing that I will be doing a lot more often on this podcast is have guests that are listeners of the podcast, who are members of my online jazz courses so that we can listen and find out what's working well for them in their practice room, what's working well, the things that are making the highest impact in their jazz playing at the moment. And in general, getting to know them and their stories because I do believe that we can learn in so much from each other's stories, so much from each other's experiences as jazz musicians, and this will help us all learn and grow together. So, I have Bob Petix on the show today, who is an attorney, who is a bass player from Jackson, Wyoming, who is going to share with us today and we are going to learn a lot from him. In this episode: 1. How Bob got started playing bass and jazz 2. Why Bob plays jazz and what keeps him motivated 3. What Bob is working on in the practice room and what is working best 4. I help Bob with an exercise he can work on for developing better time feel and longer lines Thanks for listening to this episode of the Learn Jazz Standards Podcast. Today’s guest on Because of Horses is Bob Cacchione — a living legend in the horse world — and one to whom so many owe immense gratitude for founding the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA)!   Though the IHSA has helped countless young equestrians explore their competitive riding talents and dreams, their origins were pretty humble. Bob was an 18-year-old sophomore at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey when his parents told him they would no longer pay for his riding. Rather than have that be the end of it, Bob negotiated free use of horses at a local stable in exchange for giving riding lessons, where he then gathered what soon became a competitive team. Next, when he held a show using donated horses, nearby colleges caught wind of the event and what began as a small group of riders soon grew exponentially over the ensuing years. Now, it’s a huge network, including almost 400 colleges across the U.S. and over 8,300 riders in hunt seat equitation, western horsemanship, and reining.   Beyond all this though, the organization is about so much more! In a world where show-winners are often those who can afford the finest horses, the IHSA truly levels the playing field. Countless young riders and adult equestrians have Bob to thank for that! In this episode, Bob shares stories of alumni who have gone on to do incredible things in the horse world, gives his take on how he has seen the evolution of youth competition, his predictions on the future of riding, some incredibly touching (and funny!) stories from those who have been involved in the IHSA, and what makes IHSA so remarkable!   Topics of Discussion: [:24] About today’s episode with Bob Cacchione. [1:49] Bob shares why what they do at IHSA is so important for the horse community. He also describes how the events themselves are set up and how they level the playing field. [4:52] Bob highlights what’s especially remarkable about IHSA and tells the stories of alumni who have gone on to do incredible things in the horse world! [8:52] Why Bob believes many of those who ride with IHSA go on to remarkable careers in the horse world beyond competing. [12:50] When Bob’s parents stopped paying for his riding lessons at 18, what motivated him to create his own path? [15:22] Elise and Bob discuss the incredibly unique community IHSA is, as well as its broad impact and appeal. [18:34] Bob gives his thoughts on the horse world's evolution as well as his predictions on the future of riding. [20:35] What Bob would like the parents and young riders who listen to Because of Horses to know about IHSA. [22:16] Bob speaks about his retirement from IHSA. [24:05] What does Bob want his legacy to be? [25:45] In a life full of remarkable experiences, what stands out to Bob? [28:08] Has Bob had any “fan” moments when he has met somebody famous in the horse world? [29:31] If Bob could speak to ‘young Bob,’ what would he tell himself at 17 years of age? [31:35] Bob shares some funny and touching stories of meeting people who were involved in IHSA. [38:13] Bob shares some final words on IHSA. This week, Bob Rich joins the podcast! Bob was the Chief of the Abbotsford Police for 10 years, retiring in 2018. Prior to that, he was with the Vancouver Police for 28 years, finishing his time as the Deputy Chief of Operations.   Bob’s story begins just before 2015. During his time in Abbotsford, the Department faced a number of difficult events — both in the community and within the Department. He dealt with two suicides, him and his team being under investigation, a member being charged through an internal investigation, a leadership crisis, and several more traumatic events.   After a very difficult 2015, Bob and his team changed their focus to "the two M's: the Mission and the Members” after realizing how many first responders are being hurt by the work they do. Since then, Bob has been working to change how we can run our agencies so members stay well throughout their entire career.   Tune in as Bob shares his key learnings through his experiences, both personally and professionally; how he has stayed intune with his emotions through these extremely tough events; what he has done to help himself and the other members of the organization deal with these tragic events as well as their mental wellbeing; and, overall, what has helped Bob stay together in these trying times.   Key Takeaways: [:46] Chief Neil Dubord welcomes retired Chief Bob Riche. “HUMBLE VOICES CARRY FURTHER IN THIS WORLD.” All of us want to be loved and accepted. It’s how we were brought into this world, and it’s how we should be spending our lives. I’ve learned that if you want to get love you have to learn to give it, but it’s not always that easy. I’m sure you’ve found yourself around people who you may find creepy or that may hate on you for seemingly no reason. Your knee jerk reaction is probably to respond with an attack back, but that does the opposite of what anyone wants. Hate breeds hate and love breeds love. At the end of the day, how do you want to be remembered? I know I want to be remembered as someone who lit the way with love, compassion, and really tried to understand everyone I encountered. On this episode of The School of Greatness I’ve brought you someone who has been spreading nothing but love around the entire world: Bob Goff. Bob is one of the most interesting people I’ve ever met. He used to be a lawyer and has since turned his life into one designed to spread love. He is a New York Times best selling author, a diplomat, and a phenomenal speaker. He’s helped build schools and shelters around the world. He’s saved lives by educating witch doctors in other countries, and has even become the Uganda consolut to the US. This was easily one of the most interesting interviews I’ve ever done. Bob’s mission is one I truly believe in. And believe it or not despite everything he’s done he still gets haters on social media. We discuss how he deals with those haters, how you can love deeper, and how you can overcome your insecurities. Discover all of that and much more, on Episode 622. Some Questions I Ask: Are you insecure? (7:34) How do you do what you do? (8:50) What did you learn from the last 25 years of being magnetic? VIDEO: Jennifer Koh performs in the WQXR Café Somewhere along the way in her 20-some year career, Jennifer Koh jumped off the violin soloist treadmill in favor of less familiar paths and creative channels. She fashioned an ongoing recital series called “Bach and Beyond” that involves juxtapositions of Bach’s solo sonatas and partitas with contemporary works by composers like Phil Kline, Missy Mazzoli and Kaija Saariaho. She gives her New York Philharmonic subscription debut this week not with a beloved warhorse like the Tchaikovsky or Brahms Concerto but Lutoslawski’s Chain 2, a dark, knotty work composed for Anne-Sophie Mutter in 1984. And she has struck up a working relationship with the veteran theater and opera director Robert Wilson, which will expand this November in a staged version of Bach’s solo violin music in Paris. Koh came to know Wilson when she appeared in the title role in a new touring production of Einstein on the Beach, Philip Glass’s landmark opera that came to the Brooklyn Academy of Music in October. “I was quite scared going into the rehearsal process because I’ve never acted or done anything in that way,” Koh, 36, told Jeff Spurgeon. “I’ve never played a character. In fact, for me, performing and being a musician is about being more myself there than anywhere else in a sense and being more purely human. “I didn’t even know where stage right was. They were like, 'walk on to stage right' and I was like, 'which direction is this?’” In the five-hour opera, Koh doesn’t just perform Glass's churning "Knee Plays" but dons the full Einstein costume, complete with silver wig and mustache. Wilson's acting coaching made a strong impression on Koh. “In a way, I’ve been searching for a long time for this idea, [whether] doing 'Bach and Beyond,' or creating these projects," she said. "In the end it’s ‘how do you create an experience, and really create a journey for your audience?’ What Bob does with Einstein, with time, it changes your conception of that.” Koh’s career got off to a start more typical of a child prodigy: she made her debut with the Chicago Symphony at age 11, studied at Oberlin College in her teens, and took home a silver medal at the 1994 Tchaikovsky Competition, the latter while wearing a poofy green dress. But in recent years she's shown an increasingly adventurous streak, as the choice of the Lutoslawski for her Philharmonic debut suggests. "I believe it’s a great piece and it deserves to be heard more,” she said. “And more than that, the reason I’m happy to do it in New York is that so many of my composer colleagues and friends are in the city and there’s something about his music that is such an important voice that does need to be heard.” In the WQXR Café, Koh performs selections the final two movements of Ysaÿe's Sonata No. 2, a piece that she performed last year at an event for South Korea's First Lady Kim Yoon-ok, hosted by US First Lady Michelle Obama. “I remembered that I was so excited when I met her at the receiving line that I almost knocked over the first lady of Korea,” Koh recalled. "I just hopped towards Michelle Obama to give her a hug. Then I had to give my apologies to the first lady of Korea. She was very lovely.” Video: Amy Pearl; Sound: Ed Haber; Text & Production: Brian Wise; Interview Jeff Spurgeon
