This week, on the Global Research News Hour, As the genocidal intentions of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is being made clear following the Hamas Attack on Israel and as deaths of Palestinians in Gaza is piling up to close to 10,000, we spend another week analyzing the situation with an emphasis on whether or not this pivotal moment will spread beyond Gaza. In part one of our interview, we are joined by the geopolitical analyst and author Mahdi Nazemroaya who gives us his take on the plan based on past statements and on where this conflict may be headed. Near the end, we are joined by activist, lawyer and journalist Dimitri Lascaris who shares his own thoughts and analysis following his trip in recent weeks to Lebanon where he saw the energies of the people in the streets and the Israeli soldiers minding the store on the north side.
What happened in Acapulco? With two carrier groups, consisting of over 50 ships, and over 84 military flights in 48 hours arriving in the Levant, are we really supposed to believe these moves are defensive? Could they be initiating Theodor Herzl's plan of Greater Israel from the 1800's? If so, the Middle East will be shattered.
The cloud creates “cloud cowboys,” says Yinon Costica, VP of Product and Co-Founder of Wiz. This creates, as you might imagine, security issues. “Cloud allows people to really own their stuff end-to-end. They can basically create whatever they want,” says Costica. But he says that security professionals need to ensure that the cowboys can “govern their environments in a way that is secured while they continue to build.” These issues set the theme for this #CyberesecurityByDesign conversation between Costica, Sam Rehman, EPAM's Chief Information Security Officer and SVP, and Aviv Srour, our Head of Cyber Innovation. Rehman notes that the frequency of change in cloud is “great for software engineering,” but adds: “It also makes it very, very difficult for you to actually find your baseline, your footing,” regarding security. One of the most useful things we learn in this episode is how cloud might help spread the responsibility for security. In the past, security was solely the problem of the security team but with cloud and its self-serve nature, Costica says: “Security now should be democratized to those who are actually managing the environments, running the resources, have the right context.” As a group, the guys talk about the differences between on-prem and cloud security, the role of visibility plays in cloud, the pragmatism cloud brings to security, and more. Understanding the manifold nature of cloud is critical, and it will require a lot more education than many organizations realize. Says Rehman: “If you don't have a good understanding of what your cloud looks like, which is majority of people out there, then you still have a huge problem.” Be part of the solution: Listen. In this season's finale of the Future of Security Operations podcast, Thomas chats with Yinon Costica, Vice President of Product and co-founder at Wiz, the leading cloud infrastructure security platform that enables organizations to identify and remove the most pressing risks in the cloud. Yinon has more than 15 years of experience leading cybersecurity product development teams, with expertise in the cloud security market. Yinon started his career as a software engineer at the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). After this, he was the VP of Adallom, a leading cloud access security broker, until they were acquired by Microsoft in 2015. At Microsoft, he led the Cloud Security Group product organization for four years before co-founding Wiz. Topics include: Yinon's journey, starting with the Israel Defense Forces, and how it led to his introduction to cybersecurity. The decision process behind building Wiz and how the original idea for the company changed and developed during this time. Yinon's view on the changing landscape of security over the last 20 years and how it has become a C-level discussion. Measuring how mature your company's security operations are and the process of wider teams becoming more proactive about security. The self-serve model of security used at Wiz and how companies can employ this to create a more secure environment across the enterprise. Approaching the challenge of gaining Fortune 100 customers when running a start-up and what it takes to build an enterprise-grade product. The specific challenges that those who are leading security teams in fast-growing tech startups face when approaching the cloud. Stepping back to find toxic combinations in your organization that need to be remediated first when evaluating levels of prioritization. What the security operations landscape will look like in five years and how the self-serve model will fit into this. Some lessons Yinon has learned from the close relationships that the Wiz founding members have built up over the last 20 years. Taking steps to overcome the issue of diversity and bias in the security space. Resources: LinkedIn

For September, we're doing something different. Presenting, Unpacking Israeli History. You might have heard of the Beta Israel, the community of Israel's Ethiopian community. In this episode, Noam Weissman tells their story - not only their rich Jewish heritage and history, but also the story of how they got to Israel, in Operation Solomon, and their integration into Israeli society over the last thirty years. It's thrilling, inspiring, but also complicated, and difficult at times. In other words, it's a microcosm of the entire state of Israel, and the Jewish community the world over. ~~~~ Unpacking Israeli History is generously sponsored by Alan Fisher and Barbara Sommer, and Jon and Rachie Teller. ~~~~ Learn more about Unpacked: https://jewishunpacked.com/about/ Visit Unpacked on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/unpacked Teaching about this topic? We spoke last week about having emunat chachamim . Part of that mitzvah is trusting in the words of our holy Rishonim . The Chovot HaLevavot in the Shaar HaBitachon perek 4 teaches us the way Hashem wants us to react if there is another person seeking our harm. If we follow the Rabbi’s advice, not only will we be doing a great avodat Hashem, the Rabbi also guarantees us that Hashem will turn that enemy, who seeks our harm, into someone who loves us instead. We must view this person as a messenger of Hashem who has no say of his own. We should tolerate his insults and never do back to him according to his actions. If we have an opportunity to do chesed for him, we should utilize it. We should even think good about him and internalize that whatever he did to us would have happened anyway. It’s not him, it’s Hashem. Then, we should turn to Hashem and say, “It is my sins that have caused this to happen. Please forgive me for what I have done.” If we will accept responsibility for what happened and attribute it to Hashem, then, writes the Chovot HaLevavot, that enemy will turn back his hatred and begin to love us instead. And then he quotes a pasuk in Mishleh , “ברצות ה' דרכי איש גם אויביו ישלים איתו”. This is far from the natural response of a person when someone tries to harm him. The conventional approach would be to deal directly with that person. But the Chovot HaLevavot is teaching us, it has nothing to do with him. Instead of wasting our time with the puppet, we should go straight to the Master and talk to Him about it. That would be the ratzon Hashem and that would be our greatest hishtadlut . If we could even thank Hashem for doing to us what He did and say we needed it and it is cleansing us, it would make the avodah even more powerful. Chazal also tell us about the unbelievable zechuyot we get by not fighting back when people want to hurt us. It brings complete kapara and it becomes a time of great Divine favor. Rabbi Snir Guetta, a rabbi in Israel who has brought back thousands of ba’aleh teshuva told a story about a student of his named Yinon. They were having a Shabbaton for ba’aleh teshuva in Netanya for single boys and Yinon attended. Everyone arrived on Thursday and that evening another boy saw Yinon holding a backgammon set which he brought with him and asked if he could borrow it. Yinon said, “No problem, just give it back to me when you’re done.” That boy kept the backgammon set the entire night and then, on Friday afternoon, he was sitting in the lobby playing a game of it with his friend. Yinon politely went over to him and asked if he would be done with it soon so that he could have it back. The boy was not in a good mood and was looking to pick a fight. He told Yinon, “You want your set back? Here it is.” And he proceeded to throw it across the room with pieces flying everywhere. Instead of fighting back, Yinon humbly bent down to pick up the pieces. But his older brother, who was also there, was infuriated about what that boy just did. He was ready to retaliate. And in seconds, he and his friends were exchanging words with that boy and his friends. Just as it started getting physical, the main rabbi of that Shabbaton walked in and everybody stopped. For some reason, the rabbi suspected Yinon for causing the trouble and began rebuking him for ruining the Shabbaton. Yinon ran outside in tears. He turned to Hashem and said, “I know this was all from You and I deserve it. But please, Hashem, let the rabbi see that I am innocent.” A half hour later, Yinon was called to the lobby to talk to the rabbi. When he came in, he saw the rabbi holding the other boy’s arm, bringing him towards Yinon to make peace. When Yinon got close, he stuck out his hand to shake the other boy’s hand, but instead, that boy took his fist and punched Yinon right in the face, in front of the Rabbi. Yinon fell to the floor. He told his rabbi later, at that moment, he was thinking two thoughts. One, he thanked Hashem for showing the rabbi that he was not the troublemaker. And number two, he thanked Hashem for the hit and said, “Thank You Hashem for cleansing me of my past averot . I know I deserved it.” When he got up, he didn’t say any negative words to the other boy, he just went to sit down. Another rabbi on the Shabbaton who witnessed this ran over to Yinon and said, “You have been totally humiliated and you didn’t reply. Please, give me a blessing to have children. I’m married sixteen years and I have gotten berachot from Gedolei HaDor , but I still don’t have a child. Your blessing at this moment is precious. Yinon said, “May Hashem give you a baby.” Sure enough, that year, this Rabbi contacted Yinon to thank him because after almost seventeen long years, his wife finally had a child. Whenever anyone harms us, we must know it is coming from Hashem for our good. If we realize it and respond accordingly, we will not only have a great spiritual elevation in that avodat Hashem, but we’ll no longer have any enemies because Hashem will turn their hearts to love us instead.
Six months of Covid-19 restrictions in the US, no lockdown in Sweden. Why similar results? “Fear and panic are usually the driver of policies, not the actual outcome."—Yinon Weiss
The latest on the unprecedented government reaction to the Covid-19 Coronavirus pandemic hosted by Larry O'Connor. Civil Rights attorney and activist Leo Terrell joins Larry O'Connor to make an impassioned plea to protesters and rioters to stand down and end the violence. Terrell also praises the Trump Administration in swiftly moving a federal civil rights investigation forward in the killing of George Floyd. Treasury Department spokesperson Monica Crowley discusses the latest developments in the PPP program and the new unemployment figures during the covid-19 pandemic. Yinon Weiss provides a critical analysis of how hysteria over covid-19 was amplified in the media and social media and did not reflect the reality of the crisis.
When the world's consensus seems one-directional in a time of global pandemic, how should we perceive contrarian views? Which voices, data, and models should we trust? Does Free Speech matter when unified action is required? This week, I interview Yinon Weiss. He's spent much of the past few weeks analyzing data related to COVID, publishing a widely distributed Medium article that was removed and then eventually restored. He also recently published as an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal. They also co-lead a project to understand the prevalence of COVID antibodies across the country: https://www.seroprevalence.com/ Even beyond the current crisis, we will explore what it means to hold contrarian views, how to navigate various expert opinions, and most importantly, how to engage effectively with those who may interpret facts differently than yourself. Finally, i'll note that the purpose of this episode is not to advocate for a particular policy perspective, but rather explore the world of ideas and wrestle with data-driven perspectives we may not always see.

Most people who listen to this show or try to get a business started through Amazon FBA live in the United States. But Scott wants to offer help to everyone, no matter where they live. That’s part of what motivated this episode of the Amazing Seller. Scott chats with an Amazon seller from Israel, Yinon Shiryan and discovered that while many of the tips and tricks are the same, there are some very unique things that International Sellers have to deal with that make it a more difficult journey. But Yinon’s story is very encouraging because he’s persevered and overcome all of those hurdles. Hear his story on this episode! Why Yinon got started trying Amazon sales. Like most people, Yinon was already working a job that paid his bills, but he found himself never having time to get to the projects and other things her really wanted to do. His mind was dead after a full day of work. He heard about Amazon sales from a friend and was very interested. After only a little bit of research he decided to take the plunge and get started. He found a very popular product from a local supplier and looked to see what it sold for on Amazon. The margins weren’t very big, but he decided to go for it anyway. After stumbling through the process he has made his way to a very successful business. Find out how he got from there to here, in this edition of The Amazing Seller. The obstacles International Sellers face are huge! There are shipping issues, account issues, and support issues from Amazon. One of the most surprising things Yinon discovered was that Amazon support would not return calls to numbers that were outside the U.S. So he had to get creative, using a combination of Google Hangouts and another app to connect with Amazon support and get the help he needed. Yinon’s story shows how a commitment to reach a goal combined with massive action can propel anyone into a successful Amazon Sales business. Hear the entire story on this episode. Making sales, even with a terrible listing. When Yinon first started his Amazon Sales business, he admits he didn’t know what he was doing. His first listings, in his words, were “horrible.” He didn’t understand English as well as he needed to, so he had a very hard time optimizing his listings for keywords. But within a few weeks he was making sales anyway. What he discovered was that his product quality was very high compared to others in his niche and even though he was asking a higher price than others, he was beginning to make sales. At one point he dropped his prices to see if it would generate more sales and his number of sales actually went down. It’s a testament to value perception and the importance of having a quality product. Get all the details on this episode. Variations of products have enabled Yinon’s products to rise in the Amazon algorithm. Multiple listings for the same type of product, but with variations, has enabled Yinon’s products to gain a broader reach than many products do. His sales rank has benefitted from this and he’s glad that he chose a product with so many varieties. Yinon and Scott both feel that when you set up your product, you should list it as having variations so that should the time come when you want to add variations, you’re already set up to do so. Find out more about Yinon’s story and how variations are helping his products rank, on this episode of The Amazing Seller. Here at Party Favorz, I don't take a break.okay, once in a while, but when it comes to serving up some of the freshest beats on the circuit, there's no time for disco naps, nor egg hunting. This is the final edition of spring and boy oh boy is it a scorcher! Starting off with Yinon's take on Deborah Cox's "Beautiful U R" which is an amazing prog mix that has a beautiful drop about 2/3 of the way in. Deep, dark and haunting, this is truly an amazing song that is supposed to have a second set of mixes coming out soon. In the meantime, Deborah also collaborated with Axwell, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso and Laidback Luke for the star-studded "Leave the World Behind" which will be featured in my upcoming System Edition; so be on the watch for that. You may be scratching your head and wondering what the hell Acorn, I mean Akon is doing on this mix; especially since he's not a particular favorite of mine. Because Tracy Young worked this song every which way but loose! If you can get past the vocals, Tracy's "Monster Mix" is worth the price of admission. I already mentioned Razor 'n' Guido in my last post, so just know their re-work of the classic "Drop a House" is HOT! The Chriss Ortega mix of "My Life Would Suck Without You" had already appeared on my last BPM Edition, but is the only entry for this song that's worth the play. I really expected more from Tommy Sunshine and Friscia and Lamboy, but they basically turned in a mix that Jason Nevins could have worked out had he been asked to mix the song.eh! Then we've got the return of Depeche Mode and the elusive Peter Rauhofer mix currently only available as a promo. Why they left it off the commercial release is beyond me, because Peter's mix is not only the best but smoldering. I am a little concerned that David's vocals are not up to par, leaving one to wonder. We finally get some new mixes for Rihanna's "Breaking Dishes" and Ralphi, true to form, did not disappoint. I liked the 'Soul Seekerz' mix well enough from the original remix album that was released in conjunction with "Good Girl Gone Bad", but this version brings it to life. I just hope those are Chris' dishes she's breaking; in fact go ahead and bust his balls while you're at it. Probably my biggest disappointment here is the Junior Vasquez take on "Please Don't Leave". An absolutely beautiful song in its own right, I do believe he could have done better. This mix isn't bad but would have been better served with the full vocals. Sadly, P!nk's label didn't commission many mixes for this, though the Digital Dog mix (which appeared on my last BPM Edition) is still the best version and retains all the elements that make this song so moving. One of the weirdest treats in this mix comes from Jipsta's "I Want Your Sex". If you were thinking 'George Michael"', you thought right. I always thought this song was ripe for a remake, but never in a million years did I think a hip-hop/rapper would re-do it. All I can say is HELL YEAH! This song rocks and is accompanied by a ton of excellent mixes. I don't usually use Mike Rizzo except in the BPM mixes, but his slamming take warranted inclusion. The Perry Twins in collaboration with Niki Haris turn in a really fun song and is considerably beefed-up mix by the Escape & Capello team, who are currently riding high with one club hit after another. Another welcome surprise comes from Cevin Fisher. After last year's remake of his classic "You Got Me (Burnin' Up)", Cevin dove right back in his bag of goodies and brought out another classic "The Freaks Come Out". As with the last release, the mixes for this song are all stellar. I went with the Prok & Fitch remix because they are one of the underground darlings in the house scene at the moment and deliver a very memorable grind for this song. This is going to be HUGE! Capping off the mix, Nick Harvey delivers a tribal lover's dream with "Beat on the Drum" and the amazing Allan Natal take on Luis Erre's "...
