Garth Heckman The David Alliance TDAgiantslayer@gmail.com BAM - watch them every Tuesday night on our Facebook page. August Friday and Saturday 16th 17th End times conference at HillSpring Church sponsored by The David Alliance, INTRO: Giving it all to Jesus rolls off the tongue so easily… Im going to give Jesus my all… but when we realize what that really means… well its a lot harder… what does serving Jesus really mean? Loving others… and yet still we find it hard to understand that fully… and thats where we are going today. Hans Seleai Doctor Scientist endocrinologist and author… the leading expert of the study of stress and its affect on the body… said his life goal was to earn his neighbors love… He understood that one of the leading ways to clear stress out of ones life is to serve and love others… and part of that was to raise people up. He uses the example of self esteem is wanting to give yourself away. Like a farmer who only has so many seeds, if he hordes them they will rot and he cannot possibly tap the potential of all those seeds. But if he gives them away to others who can also plant them, he has now multiplied himself and his gifts and talents. These people will add nuances, ideas, fertilizer, different climates… all leading to greater and greater and more thriving gifts and talents out there. And guess what… you will not only enjoy portions of their harvest, but you will enjoy simply watching others grow seeds you passed along to them. You will get so much more in return than just other seeds and goods, you will see a legacy grow and truly feel and understand your value as a creation of Christ. Philippians 2:6–7 6 pwho, though he was in qthe form of God, did not count equality with God ra thing to be grasped,17 but semptied himself, by taking the form of a tservant,2ubeing born in the likeness of men. That language is so important. Paul defined the kenosis, or self-emptying, by using the word “slave.” All the way down, Jesus was the One who was face-to-face with God, pros ton theon, as it says in the gospel of John. Then, He prayed in John 17 to be restored to that pros ton theon, face-to-face with God, because He had made a slave of Himself, voluntarily submitting to the will of the Father and the power of the Holy Spirit. One of our fundamental flaws as humans especially if we call ourselves Christians… is that of not wanting to serve or slave for Jesus but just the opposite and wanting to be served by everyone INCLUDING JESUS. But if you don't give yourself away in service to others for God, by God and in Gods love YOU WILL NEVER FIND YOURSELF. YOU WILL NEVER NEVER NEVER KNOW HOW VALUABLE YOU ARE - you will never feel it down in your soul, your bones… You might think I am arrogant and egotistical… I can be… but most of the time you are simply picking up on me in the cradle of Gods value and love… that I have learned by serving others. Whats the secret to an unshakeable self love and self esteem? The secret is serving others.

Welcome to your Daily Detroit for Thursday, June 20, 2024! Jer and Devon dive into a packed episode covering everything from new local spots to major news impacting the region. First, Devon shares his excitement about Elephant and Company, a new venture by Eastern Market Brewing Company in Midtown. The spot offers coffee, vegan donuts by Duped Donuts, and soon, self-serve taps for beer. Devon also introduces us to Jarvis, Michigan's only robot barista. Next, they discuss The Lone Goat, a British pub in the Metropolitan Building, offering an authentic atmosphere with traditional British ales, lagers, and hearty pub food. It's a new favorite for Devon, who appreciates the unique selection of beers and the cozy ambiance. The conversation then shifts to the aftermath of a severe storm that left 40,000 people without power. On the business front, they talk about Stellantis' major cost-cutting measures, which could result in significant job losses at their North American headquarters in Auburn Hills. The discussion touches on the company's lag in EV and hybrid technology, the possibility of a downtown Detroit headquarters, and their seemingly lesser civic presence compared to Ford and GM. Lastly, they tackle a contentious issue: The potential blocking of over $2 billion for housing, public transit and projects by two progressive Democrats in the Michigan state legislatue. Happy MLK Day! So I did this once before where I had a couple of startup founders join me on the show (check out Ep. 168) and I super loved the dynamic (listeners did too!) so I did it again. These are a couple of companies that, at first glance, look and seem similar. They've got similar sized teams. They both talk about Growth or GTM which are seemingly similar concepts. But after digging deeper, I realize that they've got a bunch of differences. Who they're for, what they do for their target buyer, pricing structures, etc. So one of the big takeaways from this episode is I ask a lot of clarifying questions. This is a helpful process, to bring in someone that doesn't live and breathe your startup, tell them who you're for and what you've built, and then see how much they understand. We also cover: Who's on their GTM team and hiring their first marketer; Why did they decide to go Freemium or Self-Serve right from the start; What marketing big bets are they taking in 2024 and why; What's been the hardest thing about marketing; Why aren't prospects inspired to take action, how do you get people to care about what you're building; Merci and Derek ask me their burning questions and I'll answer them in this week's BONUS episode.
