Wiz researcher Sagi Tzadik joins us to break down how a single semicolon led to a critical Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in GitHub.For two years, Sagi sat on a lead. Reverse engineering GitHub's microservices manually was too tedious to justify the time. Then, AI agents arrived. By hooking Claude directly into his reverse engineering software, he condensed months of grueling binary analysis into 48 hours. The result? A critical bug in how GitHub handles git push options that exposed both SaaS and Enterprise environments. We get into the weeds on how different microservices interpreting the same input differently creates massive attack surfaces, and why security by obscurity is officially dead in the age of AI.What's Inside:- How combining Claude with the IDA MCP server dramatically sped up the reverse engineering process- The technical anatomy of the GitHub semicolon vulnerability.- Why microservice communication breakdowns lead to critical RCEs.- The massive difference in impact between GitHub.com and GitHub Enterprise Server.- Why Enterprise users need to patch their instances immediately.Resources:- Learn more about the findings at: https://www.wiz.io/blog/github-rce-vulnerability-cve-2026-3854
What if change didn't take years, but minutes? In this episode, Sagi Chekroun shares how Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) can help you create rapid, lasting transformation by working directly with the unconscious mind—the true driver of your habits, emotions, and results. Most people try to change through willpower, discipline, or information. But real change doesn't happen at the surface—it happens beneath it. When you understand how your mind actually stores patterns, you can begin to shift them faster than you thought possible. We break down why change often feels difficult, and challenge the belief that transformation has to be slow. You've already created habits, fears, and emotional patterns instantly. The same mechanism can be used to rewire them. One of the most powerful ideas discussed is secondary gain—the hidden benefit behind every habit. Whether it's stress relief, comfort, or a sense of control, your mind holds onto patterns because they serve you in some way. If you try to eliminate a habit without replacing what it gives you, it often comes back in another form. Real change comes from upgrading the benefit, not fighting the behavior. We also explore the mindset shift of “10X is easier than 2X”—why aiming for bigger transformation can actually be simpler than incremental change, because it forces you to think differently and step into a new identity. From there, we get practical. You'll learn simple NLP tools you can start using immediately:How to “scramble” negative memories by changing how they're stored (visual, auditory, and physical components)How to use dissociation to safely process intense experiences without reliving themHow to create a mental “control panel” to interact with your inner worldHow to build anchors—physical triggers that instantly shift your emotional stateHe also guides me through a powerful 3-minute future pacing exercise. This practice helps you step into your future self—seeing through their eyes, feeling their emotions, and allowing your mind to begin wiring in the path to get there. Instead of chasing a goal, you begin to embody it.A key theme throughout the episode is that less is more. You don't need long, complicated routines. Short, consistent practices—just a few minutes a day—can create real, lasting change when done correctly. This episode is for anyone who feels stuck, wants to break patterns, or is looking for a more aligned, effective way to grow—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.Resources mentioned include Richard Bandler, Paul McKenna, and Jose Silva, along with additional NLP tools and teachings.Take 3 minutes today to try it yourself:Visualize your life one year from now. Step into that version of you. Feel it fully. Then ask: Who do I need to become to live this?Because real change doesn't come from forcing yourself forward. It comes from becoming someone new.
Hi there hello audient, how've you been? The end, they say, is near. Some say this end is the apocalypse.Others call it "a new Middle Ages" ..sorry, I mean "East". Some say 'end' with the meaning of goal - for example the goal of the war on Iran - and shift the definition of 'end' according to the means they can afford...War as capitalism in other means I guess.Due to the unfortunate combination of our illustrious MC being quite unwell, and Sagi having seemingly fallen down a particularly steep and slippery economico-theologico-geo-politico rabbit-hole-o - - ..it might have become a tad monological at times. The thread that starts us off concerns the "raw" nature, or feel, of this war. American liberals opine over Bush that bothered to lie at least; he spoke around the oil, not through it (or to it for that matter). But the political chaos of this war - the lack of inhibitions in doing, as Chancellor Merz says, "our dirty work" - does serve to expose a hand that prefers to remain invisible (Max Weber would say it has spiritual aspirations). And it also exposes a structure, and a problem, with a long, seldom discussed, history. The invisible hands of the "secular" west's global capitalism can be uncannily traced to the first Crusade in 1095; where a power-drunk Pope called for the destruction of the vile race that defiles the Holy Land (incidentally solving much internal strife and crime, as the first 70% of his speech suggest)...Seen in this more nuanced lens, this conflict was a long time coming. The seeming insanity of everything about this war, the feeling that no one is holding the Westphalian reins, leaves only the most ancient of hands to steer the course of events. But the real issue is one of Sovereignty - a secularized (Christian) theological concept based on their conception of 'God' (and the violence that this concept did to the Jewish 'Hashem'). This problem never stops rearing its head whenever Christians find themselves in conflict; the Eastern/Western Church schism, the Crusades that were used to "blow off steam" of intra-Christian aggression ("Go attack the heretic Muslim! (instead of robbing our clergy...) We must save the Holy Land!"), the way that an Other like itself (universalist, potentially Imperial, economically relevant) immediately conjures messianic fires in the religious (and supposedly "secular") world, aching for an apocalypse. The peace of Westphalia took all that religious animosity of yet another Christian schism (the Reformation), and channeled it inwards; classic Augustinian move. If "all" cannot resolve the problem of sovereignty - i.e. how to respect difference under a metaphysics that presupposes access to, and comprehension of, both God's totality and infinity. The very logic of Westphalia is already Protestant; access to God, to the Sovereign, was only further internalized by Luther who gave it to the "individual" believer, but the indivisible, absolute sovereignty of 'God' remains. Its claim remains; now in individual hearts that can snap at any moment, spontaneously, as if manifesting destiny. And this is the framework through which we read this conflict. Considering the westphalian system and the effects of forcing it on the Middle East, the reasons for which this system was forced and enforced in the first place (hint: it's not to bring any enlightenment, and certainly not democracy, to the yum yum oil-rich region), the fact that it caused a structurally antisemitic pressure that resulted in the solution of "Israel," its uncanny protection by 'western liberal democracies' (often blatantly double-standardized...), and also dissolve the nagging question of "does Israel have a right to exist"The rest is up to you, audient. Are you still there..?...
A thousand-pound gate falls on a woman. The last thing she remembers is being on the property and going down stairs. She suffers a TBI. The defense's theory: She's a liar. So is her husband. So are the fire personnel who responded. And the bystanders. Sagi Shaked takes host Dan Ambrose through the play-by-play of how he exposed the defense's “conspiracy theory.” The jury saw through it and awarded a $4.5 million verdict. He also breaks down a case where a client stuffed a component TBI after his vehicle was T-boned. Sagi turned a $200,000 offer into an $800,000 verdict. Sagi successfully persuaded the judge to exclude it.In the premises case, a 24-foot, thousand-pound gate fell on Sagi's client at an industrial complex. The defense offered $50,000 on the eve of trial and argued that she had simply fallen down the stairs.Sagi used the fire rescue officer's report — written before any lawyer was involved — to get four bystanders' statements admitted as excited utterances, after the officer testified the scene was "frantic" and people were "in shock."In his TBI masterclass at TLU Beach on Friday, June 5, Sagi will cover identifying TBIs, medically managing the case, deposition prep, and trial sequencing.Produced and Powered by LawPods

Zajrzeliśmy do przechylonego o 6,8 stopnia kościoła. To więcej niż wynosi krzywizna wieży w Pizie (5,1 stopnia). Byliśmy w Żywocicach pamiętających o cierpieniu i walce mieszkańców Śląska Cieszyńskiego w czasie II wojny światowej, a także w Stonawie, jednym z najważniejszych miejsc pamięci dotyczących wojny polsko-czechosłowackiej.

We discuss two very sad yet important contemporary ideas about how enormous companies like Apple, Google, Meta, and Amazon rule over us today. The first is Technofeudalism, a word coined by Yanis Varifoukas, which argues that capitalism has been replaced by a landscape of digital fiefdoms. The second is Enshittification, a word coined by Cory Doctorow, which explains why the apps we can never get enough of (Instagram, X, Amazon, and Facebook) continue to deteriorate while their parent companies make more and more money. Sagi insists throughout that whether or not we have transitioned from capitalism to a digital fiefdom, a Protestant ideology, one of labor and manifest destiny, continues to function and serve the hearts of all our beloved CEOs. Jack offers us an important history of the creation of Silicon Valley, tying a certain entrepreneurial optimism to a strange conflation of academia and the industrial military complex.Andy reads technofeudalism as a kind of vampiric disease, where everyone is either becoming their own Dracula, holed up in their castle, or the rats and peons that will soon be devoured.Jake gives as many examples as he can from Doctorow's book Enshittification, which he highly recommends.
What if your biggest failure was actually a trampoline? In this episode of Get Yourself Optimized, I sat down with Sagi Shrieber—UI/UX designer turned 7-figure entrepreneur—who went from being two weeks away from not being able to feed his family to building multiple successful businesses. Sagi shares how he: ✓ Hired a coach with money he didn't have (and turned his business around in 2 weeks) ✓ Wrote himself a check that manifested exactly 6 months later ✓ Created his "9-12 Club" morning routine that led to his first 7-figure year ✓ Used the 75 Hard challenge to build unshakeable mental toughness If you're facing challenges in your business or feeling stuck, this episode will shift your entire perspective on adversity.
In this episode, I sit down with developer and speaker Sagi Carmel to dive deep into Astro, why it's gaining so much traction, and how it compares to frameworks like Next.js, Nuxt, Remix, and SvelteKit. We explore what makes Astro uniquely powerful — from its server-first approach and island architecture to its simplicity, speed, and ability to integrate with any front-end framework you want.Sagi also walks me through real-world use cases, including how he built Israel's official Census website with Astro, why scoped CSS and server components simplify the development experience, and how tools like HTMX and view transitions make web UX buttery smooth. If you've been curious about Astro, this conversation is a terrific deep dive into both its fundamentals and its advanced capabilities.
We wanted to talk about the aftermath of Charlie Kirk's assassination. We ended up returning to a question Sagi asked in the last episode (Bowser Bones): how do we talk to people who mean well but don't get more radical ideas? This question is so hard to answer, we meander on all sides of it. We speak about the violence of left and right, we speak about the performative insincerity of so many talking heads, and we think about a kind of psychotic manifest destiny that encourages so many people to embrace whatever is on a sale in the marketplace of ideas.Sagi asks about the hypocrisy of the "punch a Nazi" idea, and Andy does not condone any violence of any sort.
Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Culture editor Jessica Steinberg joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. Today, we dive into aspects of Israel's culinary life and hear about Steinberg's most recent visit to Kibbutz Be'eri in the south: Just two weeks before Rosh Hashanah, Steinberg joined baker Yaki Sagi as he was pouring honey cake batter into loaf tins at the Lalush bakery in Be’eri's dining hall complex. We learn how Be'eri is slowly rebuilding and about Sagi's flourishing bakery. We then turn to Tel Aviv, where Steinberg attended the 11th Whisky Live event. One of the whiskies she tasted is called Single Be’eri, a single malt project led by Be’eri resident and former Knesset member Haim Jelin, distilled at Tel Aviv’s Milk & Honey, with part of the proceeds donated to the rehabilitation of communities in the Western Negev. And finally, we learn how nearly 10 months after the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, a new set of culinary tours by the Tel Aviv-based Asif Culinary Institute of Israel is aiming to boost restaurants in Israel’s north that are still struggling with the fallout of the war. Check out The Times of Israel's ongoing liveblog for more updates. For further reading: Can spinach pies infuse strength back into Kibbutz Be’eri? Bowser bones is a phrase Andy and Jake came up with after playing way too much Mario Tennis. One afternoon, Jake chose to play as Bowser and easily defeated Andy, who was playing as Princess Peach. He accused Jake of cheating because Bowser's character has more power than Peach. This soon became a question about the assumption that man has more bone density than women. Andy pointed out what a gross fantasy it is whenever men assert this difference. Often times this assertion comes in the form of transphobia and the pearl clutching about trans women in female sports. Is there any way to assert this biological difference without leveraging violence? Sagi was at his honest and most cancellable best. Wondering if there is some sympathy that we need to give to the anxiety caused by sexual difference; its neglect, owing to the Christian framework that constantly polices and represses it, is something that colors current perceptions of male violence and transphobia. Andy looks at Freud's famous essay "A Child is Being Beaten" to help us think about the creation of this fantasy, and the anxiety of castration. Jake extends this idea by looking at Alan Bass who asserts the need to accept difference, while simultaneously critiquing the common narratives of sexual difference as concrete fetishes. We splay ourselves open in this pod, while advocating for love as transcendence of run-of-the-mill gender narratives.
What if putting yourself first actually grew your business instead of hurting it? Sagi Shrieber, first designer at Fiverr and SimilarWeb, scaled his design agency to seven figures while working LESS hours. His secret? The "Nine to Twelve Rule" - blocking 9 AM to 12 PM daily for personal time before any client meetings. The counterintuitive result: Higher productivity, better client relationships, and sustainable growth without burnout. In our latest Marketing Speak episode, Sagi reveals why most entrepreneurs have it backwards and shares his exact framework for setting boundaries that actually increase revenue.

Well, we thought about AI again. This time Andy joined us. Jake, as promised, went Marx Grudge. He read from Marx's "Fragment of Machines," and listed the many lawsuits currently levied against "AI vendors." That said, he also couldn't help thinking about the future of porn. Sagi spoke about the metaphysical utilitarian progress underpinning AI, certain that the only real thing AI can do is solve the stupid analytic philosophy trolley problem. Oh, that and get a high score on an IQ test. Andy introduced the Tower of Babel and helped us think about how concrete thinking is overtaking the younger generation. AI, entirely focused on space, and against time, leaves no room for ethics, for thought, for enjoying petites madeleines. Listen past the end, for a Proustian surprise.
Hello there audient,How's life? So, for this summer of lovely weather and lovelier news the Tossers bring you the first of a two-part series of pods dealing with A.I. It'll be fun and light, much like this summer! This one was just me and Jake, as Andy and Jack are (surely) having the time of their lives elsewhere.. and we discuss so, so much. What is AI? Sagi argues it's not deserving of its name, giving a bad rap to intelligence, assuming we can indeed create it, that intelligence is within our grasp to make. What we get with AI is a probablistic imitation of reason, minus all the pesky desires (except of course behind the AI scenes), which has its uses... not all of which are necessarily healthy or sustainable.Jake evokes the area of teaching and learning, writing and reading, as an area particularly vulnerable to AI exploitation, as more and more college students use ChatGPT to pass their courses (and more and more teachers use ChatGPT to grade their "students"). He sees this as what Derrida called absolute ash, the dead burying the dead...Ensuing is a debate we took through Stiegler and Kant, through Hegel (and Jesus), to Silicon Valley metaphysics (and its shoddy, responsibility-shirking nature). Far too much to recount. And there's more to come......let's just hope Jake doesn't make it all Marx GrudgeP.S.Pay no attention to the man behind the bleeps.Stars: Il vaut mieux Lyotard que jamais; Marx Grudge (see we already did it!..); WWJD; Beast & Sovereign.

Why is the foundation of cybersecurity still locked behind enterprise licensing? Opowieści o królach, o możnych rodach, o poetach, o wojnach, biskupach, a w dużej mierze… o alkoholu. Link do informacji o konferencji: https://us.edu.pl/wydzial/wh/en/konferencje-naukowe/sagaconference2025/

Greetings, audient!This.. was... a long one. We each have our own scar tissue from university encounters, passionate moments of transformation and inspiration experienced alongside sad encounters with hopelessness, mediocrity and slave morality. So this one was more personal. The state of the University - as an institution, as a public good - has been in free fall for quite a while, well before contemporary dictators started slamming it down more forcefully (bullies invariably go for the weaker targets). In this episode we try to think of the university through the prisms of democracy, political economy and, not least, metaphysics. The university today is seeing more and more threats to its relevance (and a fortriori, funding). The younger generations see this establishment as a "waste of taxpayer money," as something best left alone or left to Automated Intelligence (AI) devices, or left in the past. We try and trace this scarcity of the university as the stronghold of learning and teaching as a value in itself, one facing towards the future with hope and pride. Sagi takes the university to task for their theological roots and the Christian, metaphysically anti-Judaic ethos of Truth that has come to pervade (and pervert) it, for being anti-Judaic compels us, foundationally and methodologically, to value truth over justice (which comes, as Nietzsche had already pointed out, to a radical devaluation of value as such). Andy shares with us his bittersweet travels through ivy-league woke Humanities departments, the various petty egoisms that animate it in a kind of pathetic posturing and grandiloquence that settles for crumbs of value and importance. He brings up wokeism as a kind of rot that has taken over the Humanities. Andy's dog shared his sentiments.Addressing these issues requires, as Jake reminds us, being slow and careful. For, though it may look like the academic jobifications and woke-rots that proliferate today mark the closure, the end of the university's horizons (especially when "debated" on 'social media'), the need for critical thinking, for creating and enriching discourse and understanding of life and experience, are still at the core of this institution. Jacques Derrida, that many see as supporting an oblivious gutting of the university's functions and ideals, is actually an example of responsibility; to trace our current experience to where the university's original, however fantastic, ethos still holds sway, power, pride, and can still nourish value.Jack, out proud representative of the STEM disciplines, points out the lack of co-authorships in the Humanities, following a capitalist logic of branding that turns the scholar humble. Jack calls it a humiliation ritual, and Sagi was quick to interject Max Weber's critiques of the professionalization and "rationalization" of scholarship, and the Bildung they inflict on the scholar: the latter trains the scholar for hopeless work, churning publications as a vehicle for promoting one's brand, making scholarly experts follow a logic of monopoly and "cornering a market (of ideas)" rather than enriching the understanding or cross-pollinating with other university discourses in order to think differently about life, the universe, and everything...There's much more, of course. Dare a listen.Stars: WWJD, Pervs 'R Us; Marx Grudge
Jake can't stop cursing in this episode. We discuss the terribly obnoxious, punch-deserving, smirk that refuses to listen to the Other. Though prevalent especially in the world of Maga punditry, whether it be Zionists smirking at the word genocide, or Michael Knowles donning smarm as his personality, the shit-eating grin is a weaponized rejection of thought. It also reveals the shame and guilt of the would be cocky grinner. Andy thinks about how despairing it is to see this contagious proliferation overtake our culture, especially with the crying laughing emoji face. Sagi sees it has an abuse of shifting contexts, a way to escape any contextuality, and retreat into a hollow shell of superiority. We also took this opportunity to introduce Freud's idea of the defense mechanism, specifically the conversion symptoms of hysterics.
Your client didn't lose consciousness? Then your client doesn't have a traumatic brain injury. At least, that's what the defense will say. Don't let them brainwash you. As Sagi Shaked explains to host Dan Ambrose, a TBI can express itself in other ways, such as dizziness or confusion. He has focused on “proving up” these invisible-type of injuries for years, securing seven- and eight-figure verdicts along the way. At TLU Beach (June 4-7), Sagi will teach his methodical approach to TBI cases, from identifying subtle symptoms that others miss to building compelling evidence that resonates with jurors.Train and Connect with the Titans☑️ Sagi Shaked | LinkedIn☑️ Shaked Law | LinkedIn | X | Facebook | Instagram | YouTube☑️ TLU Beach☑️ Trial Lawyers University☑️ TLU On Demand Instant access to live lectures, case analysis, and skills training videos☑️ TLU on X | Facebook | Instagram | LinkedIn☑️ Subscribe Apple Podcasts | Spotify | YouTubeEpisode SnapshotSagi began his career trying any case he could get, starting with sprains and strains before gradually working up to disc cases and eventually TBI cases.About 10 years into his career, Sagi realized TBI cases were "ten times better" than orthopedic cases in terms of value and potential to help clients.Sagi emphasizes the importance of constant learning and improvement, regularly attending conferences and educational opportunities throughout his 25-year career.Participants in the TBI Masterclass at TLU Beach will learn how to identify TBI cases at intake, even when there's no loss of consciousness.Sagi stresses that proper medical evaluation requires understanding the signs and symptoms of TBI...

The trial team consisted of Sagi Shaked, Joel Roth, Manny Lorenzana and Iury Carvalho. Unfortunately, Roitiki Tyler only got to see her star athlete son play one college game. Tyler was accompanied by her 11-year-old, who flew from Florida to Iowa to watch Devontre Tyler play middle linebacker in a Saturday game in November 2014. The following night, Tyler was driving home when a Ford F-150 truck hit them head-on at 65 mph. The mother of two died.

You gotta listen to it to believe it. Jake, Sagi, and Andy go Foucault, Nietzsche, Derrida, Lacan and Freud all over Nosferatu's Ass. There's demonic possessions, feminine jouissance, the Marquise de Sade shows up, Sagi defends masculine dignity, Andy introduces the Symbolic of Blood, Jake folds the text inside and out, Dracula is proclaimed the OG gooner, and we couldn't edit out all the laughter.

Greetings, audient!David Lynch passed away, and Sagi insisted on embarrassing his memory and us by making a tribute pod.Of course an oeuvre analysis is not Tossers style, but we found a nice angle in comparing his The Lost Highway with David Cronenberg's Dead Ringers. Both movies deal in the impasses and monstrosities of masculine desire, a shared theme that reveals a deep, informative, difference between the two directors, each using the literary device of the double in his own film, but in each director's own unique way, unique language. Jake saw this difference in the light of Nietzsche's old distinction, from The Birth of Tragedy, between the Apollonian and the Dionysian; Sagi suggests that Lynch to Cronenberg is like dream to trauma. We unpack this huge set of knots, and toss many more strands into the air besides. And there's a beautiful Nietzsche quote at the end! He also raises the issue of homoeroticism, which becomes particularly resonant with the fantasies of the white man towards the black man's body - othered, mystified and "supercharged." It's a fantasy with a long history. This leads to a discussion of the meaning of competition and team efforts, as well as more homoerotic identifications that, unlike the repressed, kept coming back(!)Sagi will call it all a Protestant conspiracy, a fracking-hollow of the competition signifier. But it might be another homophobic deflection...We left a couple of spicy nuggets in there as well. Can you find them?Stars: Marx Grudge; Pervs 'R Us; WWJD; Beast & Sovereign
Attorney Sagi Shaked joins the podcast to discuss a jury verdict involving a head-on collision in Florida.
Sagi and Jake take on the toxic political masculinity of Jack Bauer on their own. They speak about how the State of Emergency places Jack in a position outside the law, both beast (criminal) and sovereign. In this state Jack finds a Christian faith that ensures that every extra-legal decision he makes will save the lives of pure innocent and good Americans, specifically his erotic yet virginal daughter.
Welcome back!
Dear, stubborn, listener,Are you still there? For our weirdly unlikely 50th Episode -- mine and Jake's Gold Anniversary or something(?) -- we went populist. Donald Trump's re-election is now fact, but the meaning of that fact remains to be articulated, engaged-with.We seem to be in agreement that more than Trump's winning the elections, the Democratic party lost it. Jake calls it 'libtardation;' we think it is a new socio-political category. Were they ever an alternative? Trump's campaign (among others) exposed long-standing hypocrisies surrounding all the things they care about. The people of America were faced with an alternative between a fake solution that has proven itself to be ineffectual, and a visceral expression of rage that had not been seen before.Woke leftism plays a role we will discuss at length in this episode; both an agent and a symptom of said hypocrisies. A kind of Wittgensteinian language game, as Jack puts it, which rewards further vivisections of ressentiment in the 'soul' of the individual, as Sagi sees it. We show this in cancel culture and how social media discourses become toxic and destructive to discourse (where words and signs of value are being cancelled left and right, pun intended). Not to mention stuff like 'DEI' and its policing of "diversity" "equity" and "inclusion" -- three values abused by the left, mined hollow by woke discourse until it is too toxic to consider, and left ripe for the Bannons of America to prove that these values were always inherently empty. This emptiness, of course, is the point of the Democratic-Republican dance in a United States that has never seriously dealt with its 'spirit', that is, the contradictions that are haunting this 'manifest destiny' crowd form the first. One says 'Justice' and the other says 'Power'; and so long as Justice keeps ridiculing and denying the role of power in Justice -- what Derrida called the force of Law -- they leave the values to rot from within until it's the other partner's turn to say "hey this value is defunct, so let's give up on it altogether."As Andy put it, Americans were given a choice between two right wing parties...There's a lot more we talked about there. Have a listen, dear audient (and despair..)Stars: WWJD; Beast & Sovereign; Marx Grudge....*Thumbnail courtesy of Arash Akhgari (and Sagi).
In this episode we discuss the absurdity of the taboo against cultural appropriation. Introducing specific examples like which Halloween costumes to wear, or which recipes you can and cannot cook, the Tossers argue that culture is itself appropriation, and thus the taboo attempts to inhibit something that can never be inhibited. To emphasize this universal necessity of cultural appropriation, we introduce theories of language.Jack introduces Wittgenstein's theory of language games and the impossibility of a private language.Jake introduces Derrida's theory of language in Monolingualism of the Other and the Prosthesis of Origin.Sagi makes sure that we do not simply define the ubiquity of cultural appropriation but study exactly why there is an attempt at re-appropriation that then bans certain people (always the original colonizer) from taking back again. By now, we hope you know what would Sagi do.We read some gorgeous passages by Jacques Derrida, and discuss why the N-word and blackness are limit cases, especially in America, for thinking about cultural appropriation.
