Blake has done it again! After bringing us cinematic gems like Surf Nazis Must Die, Bad Taste, and the legendary disasterpiece The Room, our resident connoisseur of chaos has picked another fever dream for us to unravel—Peter Jackson's Meet the Feebles. If Bad Taste showed Jackson's love for over-the-top gore, Meet the Feebles proves he was just as committed to pushing the boundaries of decency, this time with puppets.Meet the Feebles was envisioned as a satirical take on the entertainment industry, blending puppetry with extreme violence, crude humor, and dark social commentary. The project was initially planned as a television series but evolved into a full-length film when Jackson and his team realized the scope of their chaotic vision. The film was produced on a shoestring budget in Jackson's native New Zealand, with much of the work done by a small, dedicated team—including many who would later go on to work on The Lord of the Rings. The puppets were created by hand, with their grotesque designs pushing well beyond anything audiences had seen in traditional puppet-based entertainment. Despite limited distribution and a niche audience at the time of release, Meet the Feebles has since gained a cult following, solidifying its place as one of the most bizarre and audacious films in Jackson's early career. If you enjoy the show we have a Patreon, so become a supporter.www.patreon.com/thevhsstrikesbackTrailer Guy Plot SummaryIn a world... where puppets have problems just like the rest of us—only much, much worse—one variety show is about to become a full-blown disaster. Behind the curtain of The Fabulous Feebles, drug deals are going down, backstabbing is rampant, and the star of the show, Heidi the hippo, is on the verge of a total meltdown. As betrayals stack up and tensions reach a breaking point, this cast of misfit puppets hurtles toward an explosive, blood-soaked finale. From the twisted mind of Peter Jackson comes a no-holds-barred assault on good taste—get ready to Meet the Feebles!thevhsstrikesback@gmail.comhttps://linktr.ee/vhsstrikesback
This is a Vintage Selection from 2006The BanterThe Guys discuss a New York Times Review from their newly opened Catherine Lombardi restaurant. They are pleased because they met their expectations, if not their aspirations. The ConversationThe Restaurant Guys welcome author Robert Tinnell to talk about his graphic novel The Feast of the Seven Fishes. It's a tale of an Italian-American hosting Christmas Eve and bringing a newcomer to the spectacular dinner. Robert shares the impetus for writing this book and his dream (that came to fruition in 2018).The Inside TrackThe Guys have attended many Italian-American Christmas eves. Mark has experienced them his entire life and Francis joined in once he saw the magic. Robert and Mark compare notes on their varied experiences with big Italian-American families and the feast of the seven fishes.“There's a growing disconnect when you get three, four, five generations, removed from the original immigrants, who themselves were just gung ho about becoming Americans. I'm happy to be a good American, but there's just a lot of wonderful things about my Italian heritage I'd like not to lose,” Robert Tinnell on The Restaurant Guys Podcast 2011BioRobert Tinnell is a director, producer, and graphic novelist. Robert directed such films as Feast of the Seven Fishes (2019), Frankenstein and Me (1996), and Kids of the Round Table (1995). His producer credits include Back Fork (2019), The Hunted (2013) and Surf Nazis Must Die (1987).His graphic novel writing includes Flesh and Blood, The Living and The Dead, The Black Forest, The Wicked West, and the Eisner Award Nominee Feast of the Seven Fishes.InfoGraphic NovelFeast of the Seven FishesMovieFeast of the Seven Fishes (2018)Our Sponsors The Heldrich Hotel & Conference Centerhttps://www.theheldrich.com/ Magyar Bankhttps://www.magbank.com/ Withum Accountinghttps://www.withum.com/ Our Places Stage Left Steakhttps://www.stageleft.com/ Catherine Lombardi Restauranthttps://www.catherinelombardi.com/ Stage Left Wineshophttps://www.stageleftwineshop.com/ To hear more about food, wine and the finer things in life:https://www.instagram.com/restaurantguyspodcast/https://www.facebook.com/restaurantguysReach Out to The Guys!TheGuys@restaurantguyspodcast.com**Become a Restaurant Guys Regular and get two bonus episodes per month, bonus content and Regulars Only events.**Click Below! https://www.buzzsprout.com/2401692/subscribe
Back after a three-week sabbatical, with what is probably the best podcast we've recorded. There's a little bit of catching up to do in this one. We've got some talk about getaways to #Wisconsin and the #RockyMountain and bar/restaurant experiences on the road. FYI, Brandon does not "play fast and loose" with the rules of golf as Steve says. He counts his score the way he's supposed to, otherwise how would he spend four hours outside irritating himself? Fatal Games: Olympic hopefuls prepare for a national tournament with hopes of qualifying for #TeamUSA. A mysterious figure starts killing them one-by-one. Why? You won't find out until minute 86 of this 88-minute smorgasbord of man-butts and lady-mullets. Surf Nazis Must Die final grade: Steve This movie is horrible, but not the worst. Having a trans homicidal maniac makes this movie woke. Not even the nudity can make this one watchable. 1/5 Brandon Characters not worth caring about. Some of the important things that make a movie good are missing, like the bad guy's backstory not appearing until the movie was over. The East German Judge gives this one a 1,2/5 Cocktail of the Week: French 75 1 oz Gin 1/2 oz Fresh-Squeezed Lemon Juice 1/2 oz Simple Syrup Champagne/Prosecco/Sparking Wine/Bubbles of Your Choice Combine non-bubbly ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake to combine. Strain into a champagne flute. Top with bubbly. Garnish with a twist of lemon. Cocktail Grade: A classic cocktail for a reason. Refreshing, easy-to-drink. You can dial down the simple syrup if you're using a sweeter/dolce/demi-sec sparkling ingredient. Today on the 5: I had never bothered to watch Surf Nazis Must Die because I had associated it with Troma films, which can be very hit or miss. After I read that Troma only distributed the movie, I decided to give it a watch and I'm really glad I'm did.
Quick hitter on #Olympics2024, #TourdeFrance2024 and #JeChieDansLaSeineLe23Juin. Then, Surf Nazis Must Die: Earthquakes hit southern California and the beaches IMMEDIATELY descend into anarchy. Like...instantly. In this environment, the leader of the Surf Nazis, who calls himself Adolf, decides that beach gangs need to centralize under his authority. Leroy Washington, an upstanding member of the community, intervenes in the Nazis criminal activities and is killed. His mother then goes on the warpath to exact revenge. Fights kinda happen here and there. Each of these "uncontrollable" gangs has like...three members. People get killed, I guess. Lots of b-reel of dudes riding the waves. For the third week in a row, Steve tries to find a movie that is actually bad and he may have succeeded here. Surf Nazis Must Die final grade: Steve This movie is shit. Eighty-one minutes long, and about sixty minutes too long. But, working in half-point increments is important 0.5/5 Brandon The highlight of this one was when the info on the screen said the movie was shorter than expected. This movie is the Rooster Whiskey Cocktail of movies. 0.2/5 Cocktail of the Week: Brandon's Margarita 2 oz Tequila 1 oz Orange Liqueur 1 oz Fresh-Squeezed Lime Juice 1 oz Simple Syrup Sugar or salt the rim of your rocks glass if you want to. If not, that's fine too. Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake to combine. Strain over rocks in glass. Garnish with whatever you like. Cocktail Grade: A fine margarita that won't give you alcohol poisoning, unlike Brandon's original margarita recipe. Still, don't drink too many. 4.5/5 ------------------ Contact us with feedback or cocktail/movie recommendations to: boozeandbmovies@gmail.com X: @boozeandbmovies Instagram: @boozeandbmovies Threads: @boozeandbmovies www.facebook.com/boozeandbmovies --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/boozeandbmovies/support

Chico's revenge. We explain the paradox of discovering Zerox Records HC (a rad little record label in Chico, CA) after all these years and countless hours hunting down bands on Bandcamp. Reached out to Miles, who solely runs the label. He's involved in many of these projects from playing in the bands, to recording the releases, owner of "Get Up & Go!" recording studio (Chico), and of course all the DIY distribution. He remembers our boys, Fight Music and Uncle Logan. Enjoy a bunch from Zerox, some new ones, and mostly NorCal stuff sprinkled in. Get a sweet kiss of summer, with this episode recorded for our 2023 Summer School, all about the infamous 80s movie from Troma, SURF NAZIS MUST DIE! "Sometimes, it's all in the name. On this episode we dive deep into the classic Troma title SURF NAZIS MUST DIE. One of the most legendary exploitation films of all time we go left foot first (Because goofy footing cannot do!) into a movie often looked over because of its title, the company that released it, and that fact that it is PURE exploitation. This film is a gem and we hope you enjoy this UNCUT and UNCENSORED Summer School episode. The following episode is totally uncut and, oh I would say, 97% as close to as what it sounded like the moment we recorded. A little bit of editing was done on this episode and I am sure you can tell where, but it mostly is the entire uncut conversation. Chris, Kelsey, and special guest Bob fill some squirt guns with holy water and take in a Tim Cappello concert on the beach. The Classic Film: The Lost Boys (1987) "After moving to a new town, two brothers discover that the area is a haven for vampires” (IMDb.com). We absolutely adore this movie and for good reason. It just so perfectly exemplifies a specific style from a specific time that makes Kelsey say, "They were right in the 80s." The Modern Film: Bloodsucking Bastards (2015) "A down-on-his-luck cubicle worker and his slacker best friend discover their new boss is a vampire who is turning their coworkers into the undead.” (IMDb.com). Bloodsucking Bastards is a terrific comedy trapped in the shell of a fairly okay movie. It's certainly not what you might call a great movie, but the moments where it approaches perfection make it worth your time. SURF NAZIS MUST DIE & SURF NINJAS are HORRIBLE movies, but they have some WISDOM hidden inside. We take these two movies and their scripts and perform some Lectio Divina and unpack the parts of the movie that challenge us to CHANGE OUR LIVES. In this episode, we tackle the heavy word GRIEF. Every single person has struggled with questioning their faith, especially when experiencing grief. Grief is unavoidable, dealing with it is often where we have the most hangups. In this episdoe we break out and get really honest about some of the stuff we have gone through and how we have learned to process it better using the scripts from two horrible surfing movies made in the early 90's. LAMENTATIONS 3:16-22 (referenced towards end of the episode) He ground my face into the gravel. He pounded me into the mud. I gave up on life altogether. I've forgotten what the good life is like. I said to myself, “This is it. I'm finished. God is a lost cause. 19-21 I'll never forget the trouble, the utter lostness, the taste of ashes, the poison I've swallowed. I remember it all—oh, how well I remember— the feeling of hitting the bottom. But there's one other thing I remember, and remembering, I keep a grip on hope: 22-24 God's loyal love couldn't have run out, his merciful love couldn't have dried up. They're created new every morning. How great your faithfulness! I'm sticking with God (I say it over and over). He's all I've got left.

While not a Troma film in name, Street Trash definitely fits the bill in spirit. This film is one of the most revered “melt movies,” spawning several imitators. Originally, director, James Muro Jr., created a 15-minute short film of the same name. He later teamed with his former professor at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and screenwriter, Roy Frumkes, to turn the gross out short into a feature film. Of note, Roy Frumkes played the pie face zombie in Dawn of the Dead, and his likeness can be seen on many posters for Street Trash, as the businessman soaked in yellow acid. The basic plot revolves around a local dump and a ragtag group of miscreants and derelicts, all trying to get their hands on some Tenafly Viper. What they don’t know, is that this wine is made of something far worse than sour grapes, resulting in some tremendous effects. While none of the actors went on to major onscreen success, director James Muro Jr. would later be the Steadicam operator for The Abyss, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, True Lies, and Titanic. Sadly, he never returned to direct another feature film, only occasionally directing TV after Street Trash. The film mainly stands out for its makeup effects, headed by Jennifer Aspinal. You may recall that Aspinal had worked on Toxic Avenger, Twisted Souls, and Spookies, before abandoning the horror genre to work on SNL and Mad TV.If you ever have feedback or recommendations on future episodes, please let us know at slasherspod@gmail.com.
