Hemos tenido la oportunidad de conocer la tercera generación el BMW X1. Un modelo muy importante puesto que es el modelo más vendido de la marca en 2021. Uno de cada cinco BMW vendidos era un X1. En este podcast motor podrás encontrar entrevistas con Borja Hormigos Director de Comunicación de BMW España y con Jaime Girón que es el Responsable de Producto de la nueva generación del BMW X1. El X1 trae un nuevo diseño más poderoso tanto dentro como fuera. Volúmenes y tamaños más grandes. Tendrá versión eléctrica con el iX1, PHEV, MEHV, combustión. Este nuevo diseño interior es más elegante y moderno. Se trata de un modelo completamente renovado. Más BMW se podría decir en cuanto a su imagen. Poderoso y robusto. Construido para parecer un bloque único y poderoso. Frontal más alto para darle un aspecto imponente a primera vista. Nueva forma lumínica con los leds adaptativos. Los riñones siguen la tendencia de la marca de crecer. El frontal tiene unas líneas que le dan un aspecto de X. Ahora las llantas van de 17 a 20 pulgadas. Los pases de rueda en color negro para darle más presencia. Unos nervios que van por las puertas hasta la parte trasera. Los cortes de la zona trasera le dan un aspecto más ancho. Los faros traseros están muy estilizados. Por dentro trata de parecerse al BMW iX con el sistema operativo ID8 y se ha reducido a la mitad los botones físicos. La climatización ahora está integrada en la pantalla. Todos los motores tiene caja automática y van con selector de cambio y sin palanca. Por primera vez una motorización cien por cien eléctrica. El BMW iX1 es igual que el resto de X1 pero con unos pequeños detalles en azul. Estará cerca de los 440 km de autonomía beneficiándose de la quinta generación de baterías de la marca. Solo pierde unos 50 litros de maletero. En octubre de 2022, crisis de los microchips mediante..., llegan los modelos de combustión en gasolina y diésel 18i y 18d. Además llegará el BMW X1 PHEV con autonomía de 90kms y el eléctrico que estará a disponibles desde noviembre. Escuchando este episodio te vas a dar cuenta de que lleva un enorme equipamiento de serie y luego los acabados se estructuran: Acabados M Sport, Acabado xLine, Y los paquetes son travel, confort, premium e innovación. También tiene la posibilidad de actualizaciones remotas del sistema de conectividad. Todos los motores diésel y gasolina incorporan la micro hibridación de 48v para la etiqueta ECO y de serie la caja de cambios steptronic de 8 marchas y tracción XDrive Mucho equipamiento de serie con llanta 18, XDrive, led... En el x4 está la suspensión deportiva M de serie que en el X3 tienes que pedir a parte Ambos comparten acabados. En cuanto a los acabados ahora se prescinde del de acceso y tiene de partida XLine y después M Sport y M Performance Los modelos tope de gama M ofrecen 480 caballos y los M Competition suben hasta los 510. Vamos a hacer un repaso a la historia de la marca, sorprendente y que no carece de, por decirlo así, puntos oscuros… ¿Sabes que BMW fabricó ollas? ¿Sabes que compró y cerró Rover? ¿Sabes que utilizo presos en sus fábricas? Vamos con la historia de BMW, las iniciales de “Fabrica de Motores de Baviera” que es dueña además de Rolls Royce, Mini y del BMW Bank, una de las subsidiarias más rentables del Holding. 1917: Nace BMW BMW nace oficialmente en 1917, aunque en realidad era un cambio de nombre de una empresa que ya existía, la Rapp Motorenwerke, fundada en 1913 por Karl Rapp. Los primeros años fueron complicados, pues se dedicaban a fabricar motores de avión y tras perder Alemania la I Guerra Mundial el Tratado de Versalles impedía a los alemanes fabricar aviones… Parecía el fin de BMW... 1922: Llegan las motos… y los nazis. En 1922 se presenta la BMW R32 que fue un rotundo éxito y cuya mayor peculiaridad, su motor bóxer, sigue vigente hoy día y que sin duda, salvó a la marca. Poco después compra la empresa Automobilwerk Eisenach, que fabricaban el pequeño DIXI y se convierten en fabricante de coches. Entre la Primera y la Segunda Guerra Mundial se centran en fabricar motores de avión iniciando una fuerte expansión que pasa incluso por el uso de trabajadores forzosos procedentes del campo de concentración de Dachau… Algo habitual en esos tiempos y con el régimen nazi. 1945: Ollas, coches de lujo y el “huevo” De nuevo la derrota en la Segunda Guerra Mundial estuvo a punto de llevarse por delante a BMW que tuvo prohibido fabricar todo tipo de vehículos hasta tres años después de acabada la contienda. BMW sobrevivió fabricando componentes de automoción… y menaje de cocina… y no es broma. Habrá alemanes que aún tengan por ahí una olla marca BMW. Pero, ¡por fin! En 1951 pueden fabricar coches. 1959: Cuando Mercedes pudo comprar BMW. A lo mejor todavía se están arrepintiendo, pero en 1959, ante una dramática situación financiera, a la directiva se les ocurre una salvación: Hacer una oferta de BMW. Lo que pasó a continuación hoy día sería difícil que sucediese: Se unieron los trabajadores, los concesionarios, los pequeños accionista y un rico empresario del carbón. Y salvaron BMW. 1962: Llega el coche que salva a BMW, el E114. A lo mejor lo de E114 no os suena, pero si decimos BMW 1602, 1802, 2002 os suela más. Y si decimos 2002 Ti, Tii o Turbo, seguro que os situáis. Este coche fue un éxito desde el principio. En competición tuvo resultados excelentes en rallyes y circuitos, con coches de fabrica o de preparadores independientes. Y sus ventas fueron magnificas en Alemania y en todo el mundo. 1972: Nace BMW Motorsport. En este resumen de fechas clave de BMW no puede faltar ésta, pues es en este año cuando BMW da luz verde al proyecto de una filial dedicada a los coches de competición y a los modelos más deportivos, la BMW Motorsport GmbH. Para hacer esta filial no se andan por las ramas y fichan ,entre otros, a ingenieros procedentes de Porsche. EL M3 M30 de 1985 marca el arranque de una gama de modelos M que ofrece lo más en deportividad. Los años ’70 y ‘80. Llegan el Serie 3, el serie 5 y el M1 El despegue iniciado en los ’60 continua más y mejor en los años 70 cuando BMW presenta dos de sus gamas de mayor éxito y que, actualizadas, llegan hasta nuestro días: La Serie 3 y la Serie 5. 1994. El batacazo de Rover. Como se dice ahora, BMW “se viene arriba” y decide que para triunfar hay que construir en masa coches de todo tipo. Y compra Rover. La decisión fue desafortunada: Nunca hubo “química” entre los ingleses de Rover y sus jefes alemanes de BMW. Conclusión A partir de los 90 comienza la llegada masiva de la electrónica a la que luego se sumaría la llegada de los SUV, cuando de 1999 se presento el X5 y que para mi llega a su colofón en 2014 con la llegada del Serie 2 Active Tourer, monovolumen de tracción delantera. ¿Son malos coches? Por supuesto que no, pero desde luego si me comprase un BMW nuevo, usado o clásico, no me compraría ninguno de ellos.

Of those, more than half will be all-electric while the remainder will be hybrids, BMW said."   Meanwhile Motor1.com says: "It’s a big day at BMW. Today the company is hosting the NextGen Conference at its headquarters in Germany. BMW Chief of Engineering, Klaus Frohlich, in a roundtable interview with journalists, including Senior Editor Jeff Perez, says BMW's M division is betting big on battery power. The company will introduce plug-in hybrid M performance vehicles in the near future."   "The BMW M Next concept is unquestionably the highlight of the company's big "Next" conference. It looks like a modern M1 and has a 600 horsepower plug-in hybrid powertrain, so how could it not? Yet BMW also revealed something with an even more powerful and potentially more interesting powertrain, and it was wrapped up in a current BMW 5 Series body." writes Autoblog: "There are a couple other interesting tidbits about Project BEV, such as the fact that BMW got everything packaged into the 5 Series without taking up passenger space. That's seriously impressive that BMW could get three motors and their accompanying batteries, cooling equipment and more stuffed into a production car that was never designed for it in the first place."   And finally via Automotive News Europe: This year, the automaker will start production of the electric Mini at its plant in Oxford, England. This will be followed in 2020 by the electric BMW iX3 midsize SUV, to be built in Shenyang, China, for global markets. Following in 2021 will be the iNEXT crossover, which will be made in Dingolfing, Germany, and the i4 midsize sedan, set to be assembled in Munich. BMW currently offers plug-in hybrid versions of the 3- and 7-series sedans and X3 and X5 crossovers. This summer, the company will release plug-in hybrid versions of the 5 series and 2-series Active Tourer with next-generation technology and a longer electric range. The solar panels add an additional charge of up to 12 km/hour (7.5 miles/hour)."   "The reservation fee for one of the first 500 cars is a hefty €119,000, equivalent to $135,000, and delivery isn't expected until 2021. This makes the Lightyear more of a purchasable concept than a production vehicle. But if you've got a spare few hundred thousand dollars lying around and you want to help Lightyear publicly test their first production car, now you have another option for environmentally friendly transport."   the Verge says: "It will support up to 60kW of fast charging, giving it 507 km of range per hour of charge. The car has a total of four electric motors, which will allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmh in 10 seconds. Lightyear was founded by a group of former University of Eindhoven students who won the World Solar Challenge race with their “Stella” solar cars."   Lightyear Says: "“Unlike conventional solar panels, our cells function independently. This means that even if part of the roof or hood is in shadow, the other cells continue to efficiently collect solar energy. The car will almost certainly bear a name-name, and it could very well be the Lotus Evija." says Jalopnik: "The Lotus Evija makes sense, too, as all of Lotus’s cars have begun with the letter “E” since 1956, according to Auto Express. Examples include the Esprit, Evora, Elise, Exige and Elan. With the Nissan LEAF e+, the newly-developed 62kWh battery pack offers 55% more capacity and approximately 25% improvement in energy density while retaining a similar shape and size to the 40kWh LEAF battery pack. This has given the LEAF e+ a significantly increased driving range of up to 239 miles (WLTP combined mode) on a single battery charge. Nissan PR says: "Fine-tuned since the launch of the original LEAF in 2011, an internal thermal management system is also installed in every LEAF, ensuring that fast charging performance is optimised for specific driving conditions. Introduced in 2010 as the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle, the Nissan LEAF has led the way in making the excitement and convenience of electric driving accessible to non-luxury buyers. Less than a decade ago, electric cars were seen as a niche product, and LEAF customers were mostly “early adopters.”   “AN ELECTRIC PORSCHE DRIVES JUST AS SPORTY AS ANY OTHER PORSCHE” Electromobility is the dominant theme of the Geneva Motor Show. At the Volkswagen Group Night, Porsche presented the Panamera Sport Turismo with hybrid drive and charging station for example.  Simon Vogt (E-Services - Sales & Operations) said: “Anyone who buys an electric or hybrid model from Porsche is offered a seamless and reliable charging experience and does not have to worry about charging. Everything is prepared. As soon as the customer wants it, the navigation system reliably guides them to a suitable charging station. There he simply inserts the plug and charges the desired range. Thanks to Plug and Charge, tiresome authentication processes are a thing of the past. Payment is also made automatically via the Porsche Charging Service. Put simply: car and charging station recognize each other as soon as the charging plug is inserted. The electricity price is also fixed, so that the amount due is simply debited from the customer's personal account. In principle, all drivers of hybrid and electric vehicles can charge via the Porsche Charging Service." And on the subject of performance he says: "With optimum drive technology and the right vehicle concept, the Porsche characteristics can be exploited even further through its electric models. For example, the center of gravity of the Taycan is lower than that of the 911, thanks to the underbody battery. Therefore, an electric Porsche is at least as sporty as a combustion engine."   $35,000 TESLA MODEL 3 LEADING TO PRICE CUTS ON CHEVY BOLT "Regardless of our previous reports that high demand is pushing up the price of the Hyundai Kona Electric at some dealerships, it appears Chevrolet dealers are taking the $35,000 Tesla Model 3 seriously and adjusting prices according."writes Steven Loveday for InsideEVs.com: "The Chevrolet Bolt is seeing discounts as high as $7,000. One of our avid readers from the state of Oregon has been tracking 2019 Chevrolet Bolt EV pricing at local dealerships." Reports Simon for Teslarati: " May mentioned several of the vehicle’s merits in his review, such as its power, technology, and its quiet, comfortable ride. The former Top Gear host even acknowledged the vehicle as America’s next-generation muscle car. “The Tesla Model S P100D is the greatest muscle car America has ever produced — which means, it’s the greatest muscle car the world has ever produced,” May commented. May did mention that the vehicle is unique in the way that Tesla is unique, even if some of the cars’ basic characteristics such as its panels have not reached the level of refinement as entries from veteran automakers. Pointing out some of the P100D’s quirky features that are based on Elon Musk’s sense of humor such as Fart Mode, May notes that there is simply no other car like the Model S on the road today, and from an automaker that is unlike anyone else in the industry."   https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-model-s-p100d-james-may-review/   BOB LUTZ SAYS TESLA SHOULD AND SHOULDN'T HAVE RETAILS STORES Mark Kane at InsideEVs reports: “Bob Lutz, former GM Chairman, was interviewed a few days ago by CNBC about Tesla and he doesn’t believe that Tesla will be able to shift sales entirely online, by the way of the introduction of $35,000 Model 3 Standard battery option.” Bob Lutz said: “I always said it was totally ridiculous to own your own dealership, you own the real estate, you own the people, you own the new car inventory, you own the used car inventory – a massive misallocation of company capital. So now they’re getting out of that, they’re gonna close stores, they’re going to try to do all the sales online. I don’t see how that’s gonna work. Who’s gonna take the trade-in, who’s gonna take the used cars, who’s gonna provide service with no stores there.”   https://insideevs.com/bob-lutz-skeptical-tesla-online-sales-video/   MITSUBISHI ENGELBERG TOURER MAKES GLOBAL PREMIERE AT 2019 GENEVA MOTOR SHOW Named after the famous ski resort in central region of Switzerland, best known for its panoramic views, well-groomed runs and challenging off-piste skiing and snowboarding, the Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer is a Twin Motor, 4WD, Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) which delivers high levels of performance in the most challenging weather conditions and on all road surfaces. It combines this with the long cruising range inherent to the PHEV, allowing journeys out of town and to places with no charging infrastructure.  The Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer has an EV cruising range of over 43 miles/70 km (WLTP cycle) and with a fully charged battery and full fuel tank it has a total cruising range of over 434 miles/700 km (WLTP).   NIO SCRAPS FACTORY PLANS, ANNOUNCES $1.4 BILLION NET LOSS, STOCK FALLS "Chinese EV startup Nio has announced that it won’t be building its own manufacturing plant in Shanghai after all." Reports Phil at Electrek: "Nio released its Q4 and full 2018 financial results on Tuesday, and the company said the agreements it reached in 2017 to build its own manufacturing plant in Jia Ding, Shanghai have been terminated. Nio will continue to use its existing plant with state-owned JAC Motors to build its cars. The company says the agreement will “give it capacity and flexibility to support its market penetration and growth plans for the next two to three years.” The company reported $720 million in revenue for 2018, but it also posted a $1.4 billion net loss, nearly doubling its losses from the previous year."   https://electrek.co/2019/03/06/nio-scraps-factory-plans-announces-1-4-billion-net-loss-stock-falls/   BMW X3 XDRIVE30E HEADLINES A NEW AND OVERHAULED PHEV RANGE BMW is touting its new and improved range of plug-in hybrids at the Geneva Motor Show. At the volume end, the BMW X3 xDrive30e goes into production in December this year and puts a plug-in port on BMW's most popular crossover. It pairs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo gas engine with an electric motor and eight-speed Steptronic transmission. Combined output comes to 252 horsepower, which can be temporarily upped to 293 hp with a press of the XtraBoost button.” reports Autoblog: “The lithium-ion battery under the rear seat maintains the luggage volume of the conventional X3. The 6.5-second dash to 62 miles and hour puts it about 0.4 seconds behind the regular, 248-hp four-pot X3.” Reports Autoblog: “Next come upgraded, second-gen versions of the electrified 2, 3, 5, X5, and 7 Series ranges. The 330e runs up to 37 miles on electric power, a 50 percent improvement over the first-gen — but BMW didn't clarify how the 3 Series gained the extra range. As with the X3 PHEV, the 330e harnesses a combined system output of 252 hp and a temporary 41-hp squirt using XtraBoost. The batteries in the 225xe Active Tourer and 530e sedan grow in capacity without growing in size. The 225xe cell is now 9.7 kWh instead of 7.7, extending all-electric range to 29 miles. The 530e battery is rated at 12 kWh, while only taking up the same space as the previous 9-kWh battery. That improves electric range to up to 35 miles. Mercedes promises this concept is going to spawn an extremely similar production vehicle. The specs on the concept are promising, too." Reports Autoblog: "The EQV Concept will travel 249 miles on a full charge from its 100 kWh battery pack. It's capable of charging up to 25 percent in just 15 minutes, providing 62 miles of driving. This van won't be a speed demon by any measure, as the single electric motor pushes a modest 201 horsepower to the front wheels.
