Neben einer Dauerausstellung gibt es regelmäßige Sonderausstellung, seit dem 01. August 2024 die Sonderausstellung „Opel – Forever Forward since 1899“. Die im März eröffnete große Sonderausstellung „Ferrari – Meisterstücke für Rennstrecke und Straße“ läuft parallel und bleibt noch bis Frühjahr 2025 geöffnet. Juli 2023 öffnete die Sammlung „Nationales Automuseum - The Loh Collection“ im mittelhessischen Dietzhölztal-Ewersbach ihre Türen für das Publikum. Seitdem konnte das Museum bereits mehr als 85.000 Besucher aus aller Welt begrüßen. Ein Beleg dafür, welch ungebrochene Faszination das Thema Automobil auf Menschen jeden Alters ausübt. Schon mit den festen Exponaten - rund 150 hochkarätigen Fahrzeugen - zeigt die Loh Collection die Geschichte des Automobils seit seinen Anfängen in einer der spannendsten Autosammlungen der Welt. On today's episode, Jason and Derek are accompanied by a large pile of snacks to discuss the greatest Ferrari driving experiences of all time. Needless to say, all prancing horses have been FAR from created equal. Discussion revolves mostly around the F50, which surprises Derek in its accessibility after some recent seat time with reserved expectations. Jason follows up with his experience in the 288 GTO, which was nearly perfect- high praise, given Jason's general disinterest in turbocharged power plants. In reality, the greatest road-going Ferraris are the ones that actually be used on the road- cars that were developed during a time when speed limits were gradually being raised, rather than docked while the bar of modern performance surpassed achievable road-going limits. This brings into question cars like the 812 Superfast and LaFerrari that Jason and Derek argue are wonderful feats of engineering but simply too fast for enjoyable road use. What even is the last great Ferrari that won't throw you into a guard rail? Or is the ability to light up the rears in third all the fun? Tune in, and perhaps you'll find out. As you'd imagine, Ferrari just keeps making its cars better. Ferrari's latest supercar, the SF90 Stradale, honors 90 years of Ferrari's racing works: Scuderia Ferrari. In case you're still not up to speed, the name is exactly that, the SF90 is literally a celebration of 90 years of Scuderia Ferrari. Ferrari could have just slapped some extra badging on the F8 Tributo and called it a day, but the team responsible for Ferrari's road cars decided to celebrate the company's racing pedigree with one of its best road cars to date. Responsible for moving the SF90 is a hybrid drivetrain featuring two motors at the front axle, an electric motor between the engine and transmission and a turbocharged V8 mounted behind the passenger compartment. The combined output? Well, in Italy: 1,000 CV. That number is slightly less impressive when you convert it to SAE horsepower, roughly 986 hp. On this episode of Quick Spin, Autoweek's West Coast Editor Mark Vaughn spends an afternoon flogging the 2022 Ferrari SF90 through the hills of Malibu, the location of some of California's best canyon roads. Before letting you tag along while he reviews the latest Ferrari, he walks you around the car and highlights its styling and its features, then fires up the hybrid powertrain to show you the different sounds that happen during start up. That shouldn't come as a surprise these days after the success and warm reception of the LaFerrari, the brand’s first-ever electrified production vehicle. The new SF90 Stradale is now effectively the most-powerful road-going Ferrari in history with its 986 horsepower (735 kilowatts) coming from a plug-in hybrid powertrain. This mill will be adapted for use in more future models of Ferrari as the brand is exploring new possibilities on the market." according to Anthony Karr for Motor1.com: "The SF90 Stradale’s propulsion system consists of a 4.0-liter V8 producing 769 hp (573 kW) and 590 pound-feet (800 Newton-meters) of torque, which is supported by three lithium-ion powered electric motors. There’s one located on the rear axle, and two more up front for an additional 217 hp (162 kW). The all-new electric double-decker bus is shown at the ‘Land, Infrastructure and Transport To develop the company’s first electric double-decker bus, Hyundai worked for 18 months on a project supported by the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, which began in 2017. As part of the company’s effort to increase efficiency and to reduce vehicle emissions, Hyundai equipped the all-new electric bus with a 384 kWh water-cooled high-efficiency polymer battery, with a maximum 300 km driving range on a single charge. A full charge can be completed in 72 minutes. TESLA TO ACCEPT ORDERS OF CHINA-BUILT MODEL 3 FROM MAY 31 "Tesla is about to receive orders of the China-built Model 3 cars from May 31, the U.S.-based EV maker said via its Chinese WeChat official account. The price available for presale is expected to be unveiled at the same time." according to Gasgoo: "Tesla Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai is planned to complete the construction of stamping, bodywork, painting and assembly workshops in September 2019, according to an official document released by local ecology and environment authority. Besides, the seat production area, the powertrain workshop and the electric motor workshop are likely to be finished in March next year." http://autonews.gasgoo.com/m/Detail/70016003.html CONSUMERS ENERGY LAUNCHES PROGRAM TO HELP ELECTRIC VEHICLE OWNERS "Consumers Energy has launched a program that will make it easier for owners of electric vehicles to charge their vehicles." says UpNorthLive: "Consumers Energy’s PowerMIDrive Rebate Program, available beginning June 5, includes the following: RESIDENTIAL – Rebates for residential electric vehicle owners of between $400 to $500 for installing eligible 240-volt chargers at homes across the state. PUBLIC – Rebates for 200 Level 2 vehicle chargers in public places and at workplaces throughout Michigan, with a rebate of up to $5,000 per charger. ALREADY MORE THAN 10,000 REGISTRATIONS FOR THE ID.3 "At a press event held yesterday in Berlin, Volkswagen launched pre-booking in Europe for the first model in its new full-electric ID. model family, the ID.3. Customers’ interest in the special edition, the ID.3 1ST, which is limited to 30,000 vehicles, is significantly exceeding the brand’s expectations. Sometimes, the IT systems are unable to handle the large number of users accessing the system at the same time. This leads to long waiting times and interruptions in the registration process in some markets. Volkswagen is working hard to eliminate the hitches. Nevertheless, more than 10,000 registrations were received throughout Europe during the first 24 hours." VW ZWICKAU PLANT ON SCHEDULE AS ID.3 ROLLS OUT "The transformation of the VW Zwickau site into a purely electric car plant is fully on schedule. According to VW, more than 200 ID.3 pre-series vehicles have already been successfully produced." reports electrive.com: "Volkswagen claims that this is the world’s first electric transformation of a large conventional car factory. A set of patents that recently became public also includes diagrams that make it seem like the vehicle will look like a Range Rover. " according to Engadget today: "While we might have to wait a bit before seeing a prototype, the company has reportedly sunk billions into the project, which already has 500 personnel. It's designed in house, after all, and will be manufactured -- in a facility in Singapore -- and sold by Dyson itself. Details unfortunately remain scant despite the sketches, but the billionaire's memo said testing will ramp up in June and that the EV is on track for launch in 2021." BP CHARGEMASTER PLANS 100 NEW 150 KW CHARGERS IN UK THIS YEAR "British charging company BP Chargemaster (BP acquired the Chargemaster in 2018) announced a plan to install 400 ultra-fast charging stations in the UK by 2021. The first batch of 100 150 kW chargers will be installed by the end of 2019, at 50 locations (most likely at BP fuel stations) starting from July." writes Mark Kane for InsideEVs.com. Whereas Autocar says: "The rollout will help future-proof the UK’s charging network, as currently very few EVs are capable of charging at 150kW. Audi’s e-tron is one that is, and its 95kWh battery can be charged to 80% in around 30 minutes. Companies such as Pod Point, Fastned and Ionity all claim to be rolling out chargers capable of supplying power at 150kW and above, but there’s currently only a handful that are operational in the UK. BP Chargemaster’s announcement is the biggest commitment so far as a result. Moreover, CUPRA is also displaying the new CUPRA Formentor, the brand’s own first model, as well as the e-Racer, the first ever fully electric touring racecar. The el-Born concept car is the first SEAT that has been conceived as an electric vehicle and it is scheduled for market launch in 2020. SEAT will be the Volkswagen Group’s second brand to make a model on the MEB platform, whose assembly line is set to turn out a new generation of vehicles based on the market’s most advanced electric and connectivity technology. With a practical range of between 300 and 420 km thanks to its 58 kWh battery, this vehicle is ready to travel beyond urban limits. BMW'S ELECTRIC SUV SPIED UP CLOSE WITH INTERIOR SHOWING "BMW's next electric vehicle, which will likely be named either the i5 or, appropriately enough, the iNEXT, was spied during testing. These photos don't reveal a lot about the exterior styling of the upcoming electrified crossover, but we do have our first look at the interior of the new BMW. At this point, we have absolutely no details about the powertrain in this new vehicle. All we have are these excellent close-up photos from our spy photographer." according to Cam for Motor1.com: "while we've gotten used to referring to this project as either the i5 or the iNEXT, the steering wheel appears to say "iNEXT" on it if you look closely. In the longer term, the company hopes to decrease the battery cost to $50/kWh in 2025" OPEL CORSA FULLY ELECTRIC VERSION READY TO ROLL "The new generation of the Opel Corsa will celebrate its world premiere on 4 June and can be ordered as a fully electric version from then on. In an interview, Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller promised an “attractive price” for the E-Corsa but did not specify any details." says Carrie at electrive: "At the end of last year, Opel announced its intention to open the order books for the new electric Corsa and the Grandland X as plug-in hybrids in the first half of 2019. The Corsa is likely to have the same technical data as the DS 3 Crossback. Lohscheller promised a competitive price for the market launch, which could be as early as December: “With the new Corsa, we are making e-mobility affordable for a wide range of customers. The pilot schemes will begin in the Netherlands and Portugal. Groupe Renault places the reversible charger inside vehicles, so it just requires a simple, inexpensive adaptation of the existing charging terminals to implement V2G charging. A fleet of fifteen Zoe vehicles with V2G charging will be introduced in Europe over the course of 2019 to develop future offerings in reversible charging and to lay the groundwork for the future standards. These pilot schemes will begin today in Utrecht (the Netherlands) in an ecosystem developed by We Drive Solar and on Porto Santo Island (in the archipelago of Madeira, Portugal) with Empresa de Electricidade da Madeira, an energy supplier. For all these charging modes I'd like to be able to choose a billing organisation and have them consolidate my charging on a weekly or monthly basis as per my preference, and allow me to see where my money's been spent. I'd gladly pay a regular subscription for this, as I currently do for Polar - and I would expect all my charging data to be available online to view, in near real-time. There's a business model here for EV Charge billing companies - who don't necessarily need to be involved in charging at all! Short term, contactless. Which means I can either use my debit card or my phone via Android Pay. Just like 99% of my purchases on the high street. Long term, ISO 15118, plug and pay feature. (Like how Teslas at a SuperCharger). - Colin Richardson RajBadwal Ideal world.. plug car into any charger and get a bill at the end of the month. But in the meantime I'd take credit/debit/contatless payments. I hate needed to set up an account for God know how many chargers. I have Pola plus account and I have ecotristy app and that's it because I cant be assed to sign up for all of them. Pete Glass I'd like to see two methods on every charger. 1] Simplicity: contactless payment card, touch and go. No faffing with apps in blizzards or driving rain. 2] Monthly account: pre-registered with payment method, using either RFID or simple user interface app. Nice summary bill once a month to use for budgeting or expense claims with all charging details - perhaps Excel/csv file download option too. Pet hates: 1] Nightmare apps that crash, have invisible tick boxes scrolled off the edge of screen and make you enter 16 digits of your payment card for EVERY transaction while your fingers freeze off! [Shell ... that's you-hoo!] 2] Apps that you have to preload £20 deposit that you end up never spending! DAVID NYE G’day again Martyn from Brissy. (Brisbane) For as long as I can remember I have bought fuel with my credit card. I pay the vast majority of other bills with my card also. I would like to do the same for EV charging. Simple, quick, and easy, with everything in one place. I certainly don’t want a glovebox full of RF cards and charge tokens. Tom Raftery How would I like to be billed? I wouldn’t! Seriously, I charge off my solar panels, and when I drive down to Cadiz, I drop in to the Nissan dealer there for a free, fast top-up, but if I did have to pay, the optimal way would be that the charger wherever it is, recognises my car when I plug it in, and the cost of the charge is simply added to my electricity bill at the end of the month. Mark Garnett Pod point’s system is ideal. Plug in and starts charging. Enable within 15 mins (find a signal out of the rain) to keep it going. Genius. Ecotricity’s is the worst, multi-stage app including asking sane questions again and again. With a forgotten password, weak signal and expired card, can easily lose the first 15 mins faffing around before charging actually begins. Alex Banahene With regards to this weeks question of the week for me it has to be contactless payments. My zoe is used mostly for commuting and I’ve only done a handful of long-range trips where I needed to recharge. Because of that I don’t want to be paying membership to a charging network and the various apps and cards are a pain. The easiest public charge I had was a council run coin operated 22kw charger in a Blackpool car park and though physical cash has a declining role I want charging to be that easy: turn up, plug in and pay. So for me contactless payment via card or phone is the way forward. The next alternative for me is to make use of ccs ability to ID cars and setup network s like the Tesla network where maybe the most you have to do is register a payment method and contact details first time you use a pump and then after that you are just billed either at the end of the charge or at the end of the month. The Plugseeker I think that the important thing for charging is that it is as accessible as possible. Therefore you can’t rely on being a member of a charging network if you may be only use it once in an occasional visit to an area. Therefore they should ALL have access to be used by debit credit cards for this reason. That being said it is also reasonable to be able to join up as a subscription to a charger you use regularly to get a reduced rate. One important point about apps is this should NOT be the sole way of accessing a rapid charger. The government unfortunately made it so that this was also acceptable when it came to agreements for universal access. Kent from Denmark In my opinion, we already have a good solution right in front of us. If you, in an ICA car, see a new filling station, you are always able to fill up your car there, just by swiping your credit card or by paying cash. All the stations, from all the companies, are at your disposal at all times. I really would like to see a similar approach to the charging network for EV's. When you pass any charger, you see a sign displaying the actual price per KW. If all companies, including Tesla, made their network available for all to use, we could cover a much larger area with chargers, making huge incentives for more people to join the EV revolution. John Fruhwirth I get free super charging and so this does not apply to me. But, If I had to pay for charging while on the road, I would prefer something along the lines of the following: Something like Paypal so as to eliminate the myriad of cards/RFID tags required today. Something like Apple Pay using NFC (Near field Communications). So that I could pay by waving my phone or apple watch at the charger. Even better, have the chargers be as smart as super chargers and so have your account debited as required without having to engage with the charger at all!
