The Nissan X-Trail is being imported into India to create a halo car while the Magnite update and subsequent Indian products are prepped for sale. I sedili posteriori sono stati rimossi per consentire l'installazione di una barella, un portapacchi, pale da neve, una sirena, una barra luminosa lampeggiante e potenti luci, anche sul cofano. Rivisti i parafanghi, adesso più larghi per accogliere i cingoli, supportare un verricello e un gancio da traino rinforzato. No nos equivocamos si hablamos ya de una cita ineludible e imprescindible para el sector automoción cuando hablamos del Foro Nissan. Un evento que nació en 2015, cabalga ya por su octava edición, y que junta a las voces más autorizadas en los diferentes aspectos que preocupan a la industria automotriz para poner blanco sobre negro. Y es que Nissan ha sido una marca pionera siempre. Valgan un par de ejemplos. Hace ya 15 años que estrenó el segmento SUV con el Nissan Qasqhai. Superventas y estrella de esta franja del mercado durante décadas. Pero además es un puntal en el camino hacia la electrificación con el Nissan Leaf como uno de los vehículos más exitosos y reconocidos entre los cien por cien eléctricos.. Pero en el VIII Foro Nissan no hemos venido a hablar de la extensa gama del fabricante japonés. Este foro es para hablar de las tendencias que van a ocurrir en el mercado en el corto y medio plazo. Y vamos a empezar comentando los tres pilares que desde Nissan se quieren potenciar para caminar hacia el cambio de la automoción: Conducción autónoma Conectividad Movilidad eléctrica En Nissan trabajan con un plan. El plan Ambition 2030 que es la estrategia de la firma en los próximos ocho años. Para ello se barajan unas cifras de inversión de 15.600M de euros. Aunque ya se han invertido 8.000M de euros para, entre otras cosas, el lanzamiento de 23 modelos eléctricos en los próximos años. Además de otras ambiciones como la de bajar el precio de las baterías. Investigar en el desarrollo de las baterías sólidas para mejorar la autonomía y los tiempos de carga. ¿El objetivo final? La neutralidad en carbono en 2050. Aunque nunca viene mal recordar que en Nissan ell 90% de su gama está ya electrificada. Es la marca más electrificada en Europa y, por lo tanto, en España. La gama Nissan está compuesta por los modelos Leaf, Juke, Qashqai, Ariya, X-Trail y Townstar. Unos vehículos que se ajustan a un marcado ADN 100% japonés y electrificado. En 2030 quieren tener una gama ya 100% electrificada. Desde Nissan Iberia, Francesc Corberó su Director de Comunicación, nos contó que la electrificación tiene una parte emocional y otra funcional. Racional por costes y emocional por contribuir a mejorar el planeta. Y lo dice con conocimiento de causa pues Corberó confesó haber recorrido 7000 kms con su Leaf en lo que llevamos de 2022 y gastado sólo 360 euros en electricidad. Además Corberó nos habló de que no todos los usuarios están preparados para el vehículo eléctrico y por eso desde Nissan se lanzó la tecnología e-Power (explicada con detalles en este podcast) que te da las sensaciones de un vehículo eléctrico pero con su pequeño motor de combustión ofrece la tranquilidad de contar con 800 kilómetros de autonomía. Es la transición perfecta. Asimismo no debemos olvidar que hoy por hoy el Nissan Ariya es el icono de la marca. Un coche que lleva el EV a la excelencia por la experiencia acumulada por sus clientes que ya han recorrido en EV 21.000M de klómetos. No en vano Ariya es la tercera generación de vehículo eléctrico de Nissan. En el Foro Nissan también se habló del proyecto EV360 ZERO que es el programa para afrontar el reto del VE. Una iniciativa basada en los coche eléctricos, el reciclaje de baterías, las soluciones energéticas, trabajar en un ciclo completo de sostenibilidad…. Otra de las conclusiones que desde Nissan se tienen claras es que para todo esto es necesario trabajar desde el sector público y desde el sector privado de la mano. Y más en nuestro país puesto que la electrificación supone para España una gran oportunidad de negocio y de empleo. Para ello Nissan tendrá 3 pilares en los que seguir trabajando: · ADN japonés · Electrificación · Excelencia tecnológica La mesa de debate del VIII Foro Nissan estuvo compuesta por: Isabell Buschel - Directora para España de Transport and Enviroment Eric Mark Huitema - Director General Vehicles Avere Francesc Corberó - Director Comunicación Nissan Iberia Oliver Bridge - Global Head of Automotive Grand Thornton En la mesa de trabajo del VIII Foro Nissan se habló de como la Unión Europea tiene claro que en 2035 tendremos que ser eléctricos. Los bio combustibles llegarán pero para un número muy pequeño de coches. El futuro es VE. Como no se puede invertir en muchas tecnologías los fabricantes tienen que elegir una y esa es el VE. Por lo tanto, se llegó a la conclusión de que se necesita acelerar y no se puede mirar atrás. La inflación puede ser un problema en los años venideros. Algunas de las marcas chinas están avanzando mucho para vender más coches en Europa porque tienen los semiconductores. Las marcas europeas priorizan en los coche grandes y los chinos están entrando en Europa para vender coches pequeños. Los países en Europa avanzan a distintas velocidades. En España, por ejemplo, vamos más lentos que en el norte de Europa y ahora tenemos que acelerar. De ahí la importancia de la tecnología e-Power que está pensada para ayudar a los que no creen en el coche eléctrico. Ayudarles a mejorar su percepción sobre el VE y que disfruten de su uso suave, su silencio, su par instantáneo… sin la ansiedad de la autonomía como primer paso hacia la compra futura de un coche eléctrico. En la mesa de debate también se habló de la importancia de no depender del petróleo. Esto sería bueno también para no depender de países poco democráticos como Rusia, Arabia… España tiene sol y viento y eso es genial para producir electricidad. Se tiene que tratar la movilidad eléctrica como una oportunidad y no como un problema y ayudar a los ciudadanos en la transición hacia el coche eléctrico como en USA donde hay subsidios pensados para ayudar al coche eléctrico hasta 2032. Noruega es un espejo en el que se miran los fabricantes y el mercado español. Pero para aprender y no para frustrarnos por lo avanzados que van. Nos ha faltado copiar la inversión e incentivos que en el norte de Europa se llevan ya años aplicando Ayudas inmediatas que el cliente puede ver cuando compra el coche como rebajar el IVA. Por otra parte se comentó como Portugal está más avanzada con un 3,5 de cuota de mercado del EV. 3,5 veces más de coches eléctricos vende más Portugal que España. Y es que en Portugal han creado una única autoridad que monitoriza el VE. Con ayudas, subvenciones, infraestructuras… Otro ejemplo es Holanda donde se incentivaron los impuestos pero además había un descuento directo en el coche. Plazas de aparcamiento solo para coches EV… Y es que el precio es muy importante. El coche eléctrico debe ser, no barato, pero si competitivo, que tenga una calidad a la altura de lo que esperas y la posibilidad de cargar con facilidad. Otro de los pilares del VIII Foro Nissan fue la movilidad autónoma de la que Nissan ya puede ofrecer Pro Pilot un primer paso para la conducción autónoma con Ariya y con X-Trail. Coches que pueden viajar por el carril único frenando, acelerando, manteniendo el carril… Pero siempre con la concentración del conductor. Mientras en Japón ya están en el paso 2 porque el Nissan Ariya puede cambiar de carril cuando detecta que se enciende el intermitente y la maniobra no entraña riesgo. Pero ojo que los expertos del Foro Nissan nos contaban que el coche autónomo puede empeorar el tráfico porque gente del transporte publico o de las bicis se puede pasar al coche autónomo. Porque además serán pequeños y baratos. Eso sí el coche autónomo va a mejorar mucho la seguridad del trafico y sobre todo la tasa de atropellos y problemas con la bici. Como resumen nos podemos quedar con estas ideas claves para volar hacia la electrificación en España: · Inversión y cooperación entre todos los actores implicados. · Infraestructuras de carga y actitud positiva de los conductores hacia poder cargar bien y rápido. · Buenas ayudas a la compra en el momento de la compra. Que sea más barato que usar un coche de combustión. · La carga debe ser igual de fácil que poner gasolina la coche. Ayudas para que haya una enorme infraestructura de carga. · Infraestructura de carga pero en todo el territorio español. Carreteras y núcleos urbanos. · Adoptar incentivos fiscales para que los EV sean más baratos. Electrificar todo el parque de vehículos. · Que el sector público y el sector privado se siente pronto en una mesa para trabajar de forma conjunta. · La hija de Francesc Corberó pide tener la posibilidad de pedir un coche con su smartphone para poder desplazarse. No quiere tener coche quiere tener la tecnología le ayude a moverse. En el Foro Nissan también tuvo cabida la competición y mas ahora que Nissan está implicada en la Fórmula E. Y lo hizo con la presencia del joven Sacha Fenestraz (23 años) Piloto Nissan en la Fórmula E. Tuvimos la oportunidad de escucharle con atención unos minutos y estos fueron los titulares que sacamos: Los monoplazas de la Fórmula E son los coches más tecnológicos del motorsport actualmente. Esta generación 3 de los monoplazas de Fórmula E son un 40% más eficientes en regeneración de energía. Mucho nivel de pilotos y marcas. El desarrollo de la tecnología para la Fórmula E se están aplicando a los coches de calle como el Ariya. Empieza el campeonato a mediados de diciembre 2022 en Valencia. Lo que más llama la atención es su aceleración tan lineal y la falta de ruido. Otro de los interesantes ponentes del VIII Foro Nissan fue Mariano González Vice consejero de Medio Ambiente de la Comunidad Madrid que nos dejó las siguientes conclusiones: En Madrid fabrican coche eléctricos Iveco y Stellantis. No hay ninguna normativa ambiental tan estricta como la Europea. Nos habló de la dificultad jurídica de legislar y de organizar los planes para gestionar las ayudas al coche eléctrico. Madrid tiente 4M de coches de los que un 0,7% son EV y un 2% de ECO. Y de etiquetas B y sin etiqueta nos vamos al 60%. Algo falla y seguro que las políticas regulatorias están fallando, la pedagogía… En la Comunidad de Madrid están ayudando a transforma las flotas de taxis, vtc y reparto de última milla a EV con lo que mejoraríamos mucho la calidad del aire. El camino hacia el coche eléctrico se debe hacer sin demonizar al ciudadano y defender la libertad individual para que el ciudadano se mueva como quiera. Las transiciones que son de un día para otro no son transiciones son revoluciones. Cerró las ponencias Federico Jimenez de Parga. Coordinador General de Movilidad del Ayto. de Madrid que nos dijo: La libertad como fundamento y derecho irrenunciable de como para elegir como quiere moverse el ciudadano. Madrid acumula al día 12M de desplazamientos andando, transporte público y privado. 30% caminando 30% publico y 30% privado dentro de la M30. Conforme nos alejamos de las M30 van cambiando los porcentajes. 1,5M de personas los desplaza la EMT 200 líneas de autobuses con 10.000 empleados. 2M de personas los desplaza el metro. 2023 ningún autobús usará diésel. 600.000 euros cuesta un autobús ECO. 300.000 uno diésel. En la zona de Canalejas en la ciudad de Madrid se va a construir la mayor electrolinera de España. Ahora en la ciudad de Madrid hay 180 puntos de carga. El Trail Desafío La Capitana que se disputará el próximo domingo 22 de enero de 2023 entrega premios por un importe total de 3.000 euros. La Concejalía de Deportes del Ayuntamiento de Rincón de la Victoria junto Club Atletismo Rincón han explicado que además de duplicar este año los premios, la prueba estará cargada de sorpresas para todos los corredores. Los premios de la X edición de La Capitana se clasificarán en 1.000, 300 y 200 euros para la absoluta de 25 kilómetros en categoría masculina y femenina. “Este año será muy especial porque la carrera alcanza su décima edición y, como siempre, desde el Ayuntamiento haremos un gran esfuerzo para que sea todo un éxito”, ha explicado el concejal de Deportes, Antonio José Martín (PP). En este sentido, el alcalde de Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado (PP), ha valorado la cita “como una de las carreras más espectaculares del calendario deportivo provincial”. “Se trata de una prueba única que ofrece a sus participantes correr a orillas del litoral y después superar los más complicados ascensos en la montaña”. El regidor ha insistido en que “esta carrera sigue siendo un reclamo turístico importante para el municipio, al tiempo que se celebramos una jornada de convivencia, deportividad y entrega de premios”. Las inscripciones permanecerán abiertas hasta el próximo 8 de enero o hasta agotar plazas en www.dorsalchip.es El Trail Desafío La Capitana 2023 contará con dos distancias, de 17 y 25 kilómetros. Nissan is one car importer whose struggled this year as COVID related shortages have hit it harder than most – sales of two of its popular core models, the X-Trail and Qashqui suffering as a result. Long delays for new generation models pushing their local debut out towards December. The fourth generation X-Trail is eagerly awaited early images showing it to be visually very appealing – in addition to the internal combustion engine models will be a hybrid variant offered for the first time. Nissan hopes this hybrid e-Power X-Trail will have the same success Toyota has had with its hybrid RAV-4. Although, whereas the hybrid RAV is available on front and all-wheel drive models the X-Trail e-Power will only be available on the two most expensive all-wheel drive Ti and Ti-L grades. FOLLOW UP: RIVIAN PARTNERING WITH MERCEDES Rivian are partnering with Mercedes to build large EV vans, at an existing facility somewhere in Central and Eastern Europe. They will base the vehicles on two platforms, one from each company. You can read more about this, by clicking the link to the The Verge article here. Additionally, Andrew needed to clarify the issues Rivian has with the proposed UK data law changes, from last week's item. If the new laws come into force, then the UK loses the current data ‘adequacy' with the EU, meaning the businesses need to deal differently with UK and EU data. This will cause expenses and extra hassle for businesses. QUESTIONS RAISED OVER PORSCHE IPOThe proposed IPO of Porsche, by Volkswagen, is not as straightforward as some are making out. There is the timing of it, which when one looks at the current global financial projections, seems 'unwise. On top of that, VW's own internal structures and connections in and out of Porsche could make investors very wary. Of particular note is that no voting rights will be granted any investors. CAZOO EXPANSION U-TURNCazoo, the online car retail organisation, is retreating from mainland Europe, to concentrate on it's UK operations and being at a breakeven point with cash flow, by the end of 2023. Through the first eight months of 2021, the marque's battery-powered cars and SUVs made up nearly two thirds of those registered in the US." writes Robb Report: "According to new data from Experian (h/t Inside EVs), 294,218 electric vehicles were sold between January and August. That number only accounts for 2.7 percent of total automobile sales, but represents a 114 percent increase compared to the same period in 2020. And 194,165 of those vehicles were Teslas. That number represents 66 percent of all EVs registered in that time and a 79 percent increase when compared to the same period last year." As for the model split: "Model Y compact crossover (pictured at top): 105,445 of the electric SUVs have been registered in 2021. Concept Gespräch Nr. 16 Avo X-Trail-Sandale Es wird sportlich – wir gehen Laufen in Trail-Sandalen. Aber nicht in irgendwelchen, denn seit der Shamma-Folge wissen wir ja, dass Alex es einfach mag. Also darf nicht lange eingestellt oder justiert werden, es muss sofort sitzen und leicht an- und auszuziehen sein. Genau diese Sandale haben wir gefunden: Avo X-Trail mit einem sehr innovativem Schnellspannsystem. Die Sandale besteht aus einer 7mm dünnen Vibram Sohle und hält den Fuß über einen Zehensteg und einem „Segel“ ordentlich fest. Dieses Segel ist verbunden über einen Nylon-Draht mit dem Zehensteg und Fersenriemen, der mit Hilfe eines Rädchens diesen Draht anzieht. Der Fuß wird also an die Sohle herangezogen und fixiert. Das ist aber nicht alles… dieses Stellrad kennt man ja noch von diversen Laufschuhen, was ebenfalls eine Nylonschnur gespannt hat. Dieses Rad hielt allerdings den Faden nicht fest, so dass beim Laufen der Schuh sich lockerte. Bei dem Avo X-Trail nicht, das Rad wird raffiniert hochgezogen und wieder rein gedrückt, damit eben das nicht passiert. Wir sind sehr begeistert von dem System. Zusätzlich hält er bei Nässe ebenfalls sehr gut am Fuß und wir finden, dass er optisch ein echter Allrounder ist. Wir sind uns auch einig, dass Preis-Leistung hier passt. There are some incredibly impressive technical features to this vehicle, but one price is the weight due to the amount of batteries required to allow for a 711km range. A man has been charged following multiple pursuits and vehicle thefts on the Coffs Coast. Police will allege that a Holden Rodeo was stolen from a home at Stuarts Point last Friday. On Sunday 7 March 2021, police noticed the stolen vehicle near Moonee Beach, and engaged in a short pursuit, however, it was terminated due to safety concerns. About 11pm the same day, the Holden was found burnout on East Bank Road, Coramba. As officers responded to reports of the vehicle fire, a Nissan X-Trail was stolen in the same street. About 1.30am on Monday 8 March 2021, police were patrolling when they noticed the X-Trail in the carpark of a supermarket in Woolgoolga. Officers commenced a pursuit; however, it was again terminated due to safety concerns. About 2pm the same day, police engaged in another pursuit with the Nissan X-Trail on the Pacific Highway at Coffs Harbour. It was terminated, and a short time later, the vehicle was found on fire in bushland east of Victoria Street, Coffs Harbour. A large police response including officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District, the Dog Unit and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command resulted in the arrest of a 36-year-old man in Short Street, Coffs Harbour. He was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with two counts of take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, attempt take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, two counts of police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, two counts of drive while licence cancelled, and larceny. In people movers, Kia Carnival, Toyota Granvia and Honda Odyssey get big ticks for row three protection (and row four as well in the case of the four-row Toyota). But the LDV G10 does not - nor does it offer that side protection in row one or two - which goes some way to explaining its pathetic three-star rating. Among seven-seat SUVs, MU-X, Fortuner and Everest manage to offer that row three protection, while Pajero Sport does not. I’m lumping them together because they’re all essentially converted dual-cab utes. Landcruiser 200 also offers you that side protection, as does Prado, Kluger and Nissan Pathfinder, but I cannot tell you about Pajero or Patrol, because ANCAP’s evaluations there are hopelessly outdated and the technical reports do not include this information. LDV D90 - yes, for row three. Also in the ‘Yes’ column are Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-8 and CX-9. The entrants which either fail to offer this protection, or offer it only partially, are X-TRAIL, Outlander, Santa Fe, Sorento, Ford Endura, and SsangYong Korando - but I cannot tell you about the Rexton because it has not been tested by ANCAP. Before I let you go on this: I honestly cannot tell you if this is a meaningful metric about whether or not to buy a particular vehicle. Like: does it make sense not to buy a vehicle if it lacks this protection? In isolation: it’s probably a poor way to choose a vehicle. I don’t know how many people actually die or are injured in row three - and I don’t know the modality of their injuries. I can tell you only 27 children aged from newborn to 16 died on the road in the six months from April to September this year. (Clearly, they weren’t all sitting in row three - some were probably pedestrians, and some were probably the victims of parental incompetence - such as failing to be restrained by drunk parents, or somesuch.) Transport injuries - which is not just cars, but is probably mainly cars - hospitalises about 19,000 kids a year. (In perspective, falls are roughly double that, and ‘other’ is the largest official category of child injuries - at about 50,000 annually.) I’d also want to know if side impact injury is even a major thing in row three - because if the modality of injury is mainly rear-enders, we’d clearly be better off focussing on structural protection and controlled crumpling to the rear, huh? It may well be that side curtain protection is something of a sideshow for row three. In the absence of data, how would you know?

It’s Hyundai’s top-selling model, totalling seven million units in traffic so far. That’s since 2004. Seven million - so if you parked them all nose-to-tail they would encircle the earth. That’s a lot of Tucsons. Roughly one for every resident of Arizona. And this one is the 4th Generation - it’s a little bigger but, frankly, a lot more polished. Just don’t be breath-holding on this. Not yet. Today’s just a pricktease, of sorts. We won’t get this new Tucson in Shitsville until late in the first half of 2021. Of course, the principal design challenge with all new models is instantly to make the outgoing one look just a little bit crap - because nothing motivates an otherwise happy owner to upgrade more than an injection of new hotness on the showroom floor. Just gotta have it mate. And in this respect, I think they’ve knocked it out of the park. It’s definitely a head-turner. And it makes the outgoing one instantly obsolete. Apparently there’s that new CVVD technology as well - the continuously variable valve duration thingo, which is quite clever because it improves combustion efficiency across a range of operating conditions and punts fuel economy to the next level without compromising refinement or power delivery. So that’s quite a neat thermodynamics hack. You can expect the full safety suite with new Tucson, which is to say: top-shelf crashworthiness - including, probably, that new headbutt-preventing centre airbag between the seats at the front, plus (sadly) all of the borderline annoying, false-positive-overdosed crash prevention stuff, which is there principally to hump ANCAP’s leg so enthusiastically, in pursuit of five stars. All the carmakers are doing this lately, not just Hyundai. An unfortunate and annoying sign of the times. The interior is rather gorgeous. The exterior is edgy. Not everyone’s gunna be infatuated with the sharp angles. So, basically, I think new Tucson, when it lobs, is going to make some competitors - notably X-TRAIL, CR-V, RAV4, maybe even CX-5, and certainly Sportage - look old. It’s a super-competitive segment, so they’ll need to be sharp with the price. But if you’re in the market for a five-seat SUV and you’re not up against the pressure of time, I’d give it four or five months. Because this is a segment disruptor right here. I’ll keep you posted when I know more.

Er ist weltweit der meistverkaufte SUV – der Nissan X-Trail. Bei ihm ist der Name Programm. Schon optisch zeigt der Wagen, dass er durch und durch ein SUV ist. Und natürlich ist er mit allem ausgestattet, was man so braucht! Darum geht es diesmal!Also ich bin mir absolut sicher, dass man bei bestimmten Autonamen sofort weiß, was damit gemeint ist. Nehmen wir den Nissan X-Trail. Das X wird in der Automobilwelt in aller Regel für Gelände verwendet, gelegentlich wird es auch Cross ausgesprochen. Und dass der Begriff Trail meistens für unwegsames Gelände steht, da sind wir uns wohl auch einig Power und Drive! Für den Nissan X-Trail gibt es zwei Motoren zur Auswahl. Man bekommt ihn mit einem 1,7 l Dieselmotor mit 110 kW/150 PS, wahlweise mit Front- oder Allradantrieb. Außerdem ist ein 117 kW/160 PS starker 1,3 l Turbobenziner mit Frontantrieb im Angebot. Beim Benziner wird die Kraft serienmäßig über ein Sieben-Gang-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe übertragen, die Dieselmotorisierung hat serienmäßig ein Sechsgang-Schaltgetriebe, auf Wunsch ist ein stufenloses Xtronic-CVT-Getriebe erhältlich. Wir hatten uns für den Test des X-Trail mit der Benzinmotorisierung entschieden. In Kombination mit seinem serienmäßigen Doppelkupplungsgetriebe beschleunigt das Fahrzeug in 11,5 Sekunden von null auf Tempo 100 und schafft eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 198 km/h. Das reicht für sämtliche Fahrten in der Stadt und über Land sowie auf Autobahnen völlig aus. Werfen wir noch einen Blick auf den Kraftstoffverbrauch. Im kombinierten Verbrauch konsumiert der Wagen 6,8 l auf 100 km, die CO2-Emissionen betragen 154 g/km. Die Kosten!Den Nissan X-Trail gibt es wie bereits angedeutet als Benziner mit Frontantrieb sowie als Diesel mit Frontantrieb bzw. Allradantrieb, man hat die Wahl unter insgesamt sechs Ausstattungsversionen. Unser X-Trail war ein N-Connecta, das ist die dritthöchste der sechs Ausstattungsstufen. Preislich gibt es das Fahrzeug zwischen mindestens 29.450 €, die teuerste Ausführung ist die Allradversion mit Automatikgetriebe für 44.960 €. Mit dem Benzinmotor inklusive Doppelkupplungsgetriebe und N-Connecta-Ausführung verlangt der Nissan Händler 35.010 €. Natürlich gibt es noch ein paar Zusatzausstattungen, aber die kann man preislich gesehen guten Gewissens vernachlässigen. Denn der Nissan X-Trail ist schon von Hause aus gut ausgestattet. Als N-Connecta kommt noch eine ganze Reihe an Zusatzausstattungen hinzu, die sowohl dem Komfort, als natürlich auch der Sicherheit dienen! I’m David Brown And in this week’s news stories Nissan chooses Japan over UK to build new X-Trail car Nissan has confirmed that the new X-Trail originally planned for its Sunderland plant near Newcastle in the UK will instead be made in Japan. It said continued Brexit uncertainty is not helping firms to "plan for the future". Nissan has made cars at Sunderland since 1986 and employs almost 7,000 people. The government said Nissan's decision was "a blow to the sector" but that no jobs would go as a result, which suggests they will continue to build cars there but not expand with the new model. Tesla lost $976M in 2018 despite 4Q profit First the good news for Tesla They made a profit in the last quarter of 2018 of $139 million which was the on revenue of $7.2 billion, and this was the second consecutive quarter of profitability. But now the bad news – for the whole year they lost nearly $1 billion That’s better though than 2017 where they lost $1.9-billion Dongle lets you see how your car is performing Cars are now collecting a huge amount of information about how they are operating which can be of great help or just interest to the owner. But much of the information is hidden and would be distracting to view while you are driving and cumbersome to look at if you have to stay seated in the car. Almost every car made after 1996 has a connection port under the dashboard to connect diagnostic systems. This port is called the OBD-II port (on-board diagnostics). Scantool now makes a product the ODBLink MX+ ($140 Australian Dollars) which uses a wireless dongle to connect your car to your smartphone, tablet or Windows PC via Bluetooth. Super bowl car ads The super Bowl has been and gone for another year and some car companies showed they were prepared to produce specific ads and then pay $5.2 million for a 30 second slot during the game. In America it is a great offense for some, if you do not stand for the national anthem but it is quite acceptable to involve the national song in two critical activities, gambling and making profits. There were huge bets on how long Gladys Knight would take to sing the anthem and then Jeep used it as the background music to their ad that used iconic features as the famous 1945 picture of six marines raising the flag on atop Mount Suribachi, during the Battle of Iwo Jima, in World War II. Canadian union airs Super Bowl ad despite GM lawsuit threats Not all Super Bowl ads were aimed at patriotism, humour or sentimentality. Canada’s union for car workers aired its General Motors boycott campaign ad during the super bowl ignoring lawsuit threats if it went to air. The ad called for a boycott of Mexican-built General Motors Co. vehicles in an effort to save the Oshawa Assembly Plant, set to close at the end of this year. GM's Oshawa plant, which builds the Chevrolet and Impala and Cadillac XTS, is one of five North American plants GM is planning to indefinitely idle this year as the slow-selling products built at those plants are discontinued. Or as they seem to be called these days the 3D and P3D! And yesterday Elon Musk revealed the very first Model 3 just rolled off the new assembly line at the Fremont factory. And when I say factory, it's more like a semi-permanent tent. He tweeted a pic of a Performance model, and we know that because we can see the red brake callipers, and whilst it's not totally clear you can make out the white interior. Both are only appearing for now on the P3D. All parts of the Model 3 production system are now above 500 and some are almost at 700 cars already. Congratulations to all on making so much progress! Electrive reports: "The system allows for charging capacities up to 400 kW, and allows for charging up to 1,000 volts with liquid-cooled cables without changing plugs or via current collectors. CHAdeMO 2.0 also opens the door to fast charging for larger electric vehicles, such as trucks and buses. The main benefit compared to the CCS system remains: The Japanese DC charging system will remain V2G capable. Clarence House told The Daily Telegraph: 'There is definitely a plan for us to incorporate electric cars into the royal fleet." NEW HIGH-TECH 2020 NISSAN QASHQAI SET TO GO HYBRID "The next-generation Nissan Qashqai, due in showrooms in 2020, will feature two new hybrid systems plus a sleek design makeover, Auto Express can exclusively reveal. However, there won’t be a pure-electric version, while Nissan is also considering ditching diesel from what is currently the UK’s third best-selling car." co.uk reports: "Full electric power will be reserved for a separate SUV model based on an all-new platform. It’s likely to underpin a whole family of electric cars spanning B, C and D segments (everything from Juke to X-Trail) for Nissan and its Alliance partners Renault and Mitsubishi." http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/nissan/qashqai/103735/new-high-tech-2020-nissan-qashqai-set-to-go-hybrid NISSAN JOINS FORCES WITH E.ON FOR V2G AND RENEWABLE ENERGY Mark Kane at InsideEVs has picked up on a story: "Nissan announced a new partnership concerning electric vehicle-to-grid services and renewable energy projects with energy supplier E.ON" Nissan look like they want to be an energy company and not just an auto maker, with business units around renewable energy generation, energy storage systems, vehicle-to-grid systems, grid integration for Nissan EV customers Nissan say "Nissan uses its Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology to achieve this. It’s a key element of Intelligent Integration – one of the three central pillars of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision. The partnership with E.ON will utilise a V2G infrastructure and Nissan’s advanced bi-directional charging technology. It will allow customers to draw energy from the electricity grid to power their electric vehicle. They can also ‘sell’ that energy back to the grid for others to use. This could represent no fuel costs for the customer – just free power for their EV." https://insideevs.com/nissan-joins-forces-with-e-on-for-v2g-and-renewable-energy/ SOFTWARE FIX FOR 2016-17 NISSAN LEAFS MAY IMPROVE BATTERY RANGE Green Car Reports has an update on 30kWh Nissan LEAF battery issue: "In March we told you about a study of a small group of 2016 and 2017 Nissan Leaf models equipped with the larger, 30kWh battery pack that had abnormal battery degradation. That study concluded that nearly four out of five of the larger battery packs examined lost cell capacity three times faster than earlier 24kWh battery packs that were studied. This week, Nissan said it would issue a software update for the battery controllers to help stem the power loss. The software fix was reported by Clean Fleet Report. According to the report, the software fix addresses a known issue about the controller miscalculating the available range and charge from the battery. Initially, some suspected that the Leaf's air cooling for its batteries—rather than liquid cooling—was to blame for reduced capacity and higher degradation. Protagonista Land Rover, Official Partner della manifestazione per il terzo anno consecutivo e Main Partner dell’Extreme Sailing Series. Il marchio Briatnnico ha anche partecipato alle competizioni con il Land Rover Extreme Sailing Team su un catamarano di 12 metri Extreme 40. La kermesse di vela è stata l’occasione per presentare in anteprima nazionale la Range Rover Evoque MY2016 e la nuova Discovery Sport. Supercar Roma “È il Salone che a Roma mancava”. Così il testimonial Giancarlo Fisichella aveva presentato al Campidoglio la seconda edizione di Supercar, rassegna dedicata all’auto non convenzionale che si è svolta lo scorso weekend alla Fiera di Roma. Il salone dell’auto da sogno ha registrato nel weekend ben 48.620 visitatori, a dispetto del meteo avverso. Cifre importanti, perché si tratta di quasi il 15% di affluenza in più rispetto allo scorso anno. Un trend in crescita, che conferma la formula vincente: un condensato di emozioni con vetture da competizione, modelli artigianali realizzati con dedizione sartoriale, prototipi ecologici e auto di serie top di gamma. A disposizione 75 mila metri quadrati di spazi espositivi, di cui 35 mila interni e 40 mila di aree esterne, che hanno ospitato esibizioni degli stunt, sfilate delle supercar e test. Supercar, grazie alla Peter Pan Onlus, ha anche dato la possibilità ai meno fortunati di vivere una giornata speciale. Nissan Navara La fabbrica Nissan di Barcellona è pronta per il debutto produttivo della nuova generazione del pick-up Navara, primo veicolo commerciale della Casa con garanzia di 5 anni. Il Navara NP300, appena presentato allo IAA di Francoforte, uscirà da una linea produttiva inedita per la quale Nissan ha investito 80 milioni di Euro. Il motore è un efficiente 2.3 dCi e le sue caratteristiche di comfort e guidabilità sempre più vicine a quelle dei moderni crossover, settore in cui Nissan è leader con Quashqai, Juke e X-Trail. Il comfort della nuova generazione di Navara è stato sensibilmente incrementato attraverso una revisione radicale degli spazi interni e all’utilizzo di nuove sospensioni multi-link in grado di accrescere anche il piacere di guida.

Diverse novità a due e quattro ruote e tante belle standiste, ma anche importanti investimenti e spettacolo per gli oltre 1,5 milioni di visitatori che affolleranno l'Impact Arena (25 km a nord della capitale) dal 25 marzo al 5 aprile. Ormai nella top cinque tra i saloni OICA, la mostra thailandese è un fedele specchio del costante sviluppo dell’industria automobilistica del Paese, ormai solidamente al 10° posto tra i costruttori auto mondiali, oltre ad essere il 1° produttore di gomma naturale, di piastrelle ceramiche e di tonno in scatola. La Thailandia è il più importante hub produttivo asiatico per i costruttori di tutto il mondo. Questa settimana è partito un Road Show Europeo che, dopo aver preso il via da Roma, ha fatto tappa a Milano e proseguirà nelle più rappresentative capitali europee come Parigi, Londra, Amsterdam e Monaco. La piccola Twingo porterà in giro tutta la sua carica di originalità, simpatia e funzionalità.
