In this episode I'm talking to Barbara Bartolome about her two near death experiences.Barbara is a two time NDEr.  Her first NDE resulted from a childhood illness at 18 months of age, when a high fever caused her to go into convulsions and stop breathing, which resulted in cardiac arrest.  As the ambulance arrived outside their home, her parents and older siblings witnessed her spontaneously regain consciousness, after an 8-10 minute period without heart or lung activity. She was not informed of this early-life event until her siblings finally disclosed it, when she was 53 years old.Her second NDE occurred when she went into cardiac arrest due to a radiology technician's error during a pre-surgery diagnostic procedure in 1987, at St. Francis Hospital in Santa Barbara. Finding herself above the x-ray table, she watched the medical team's resuscitation efforts and experienced the presence of a magnificent spiritual being.  After being successfully resuscitated, she accurately recounted to the astonished medical team their individual comments and actions during the resuscitation, which was quite alarming to the team. Because her medical team and the hospital staff then strictly avoided discussing her experience with her, she rarely spoke about it for over twenty years, until she found the Near-Death Experience Research Foundation (www.nderf.org) in 2007 and the IANDS organization (www.iands.org) in 2009.These organizations helped to connect her to others who had experienced NDEs and they expanded her understanding of death and the survival of consciousness beyond death, allowing her to finally assimilate her experiences, as well as to understand their impact upon her life and worldview. Another mind bending podcast with Jennifer Shaffer and Rich Martini inviting Luana Anders and her clipboard to talk to us from the flipside. In today's edition, Amelia Earhart comes forward to talk about our appearance on Gaia's #BEYONDBELIEF the previous week where we spoke about her and the book SHE WAS NEVER LOST: THE AMELIA EARHART SAGA.  Then Heath Ledger stopped by, as he knows one of Jennifer's clients that she's speaking with this week.  I heard Robert Duvall's voice in my kitchen the other day, and wondered if he might want to speak. Since he worked with Sally Kellerman on the film MASH (directed by Robert Altman) I thought perhaps Robert or Sally's pal Bud Cort might stop by for a chat from the flipside. As it turned out "one of the two" was willing to take our speaker's chair and answer our questions. That was the acclaimed actor Robert Duvall - and as one can observe in the podcast, it was a long time before Jennifer realized who I was referring to. All of the folks that I asked about are either on the flipside, people that he worked with (Marlon Brando, Fred Roos, Robert Towne, etc) and I asked him if he had messages for some of his pals still on stage (Dustin Hoffman, Francis Coppola, his wife Luciana, etc.)  He recalled having lunch with me in a noisy cafe in Santa Fe (Luana and Gene Hackman were there as well.)   Again - the reason we do this podcast is to demonstrate how easy it is to speak to our loved ones offstage. They're eager and waiting to converse with us - and there are three methods one can use to learn new information from them. 1. Hypnotherapy. I recommend the four to six hour session as done by therapists trained by the Newton Institute. 2. Guided meditation. A person can open themselves up to a conversation using meditation. 3. Mediumship. People like Jennifer who work with law enforcement agencies daily, pro bono, so I know how effective she can be.  In this case, I have had conversations with, or talked to all of the people mentioned in this episode.  I've written and or directed 10 feature films - many have never heard or seen any of them, but either my relationship with Luana Anders, Charles Grodin, or the actors I've worked with before allows me to use the "six degrees of separation" idea to converse with them - or have our pal Luana Anders invite them for a conversation. I've been doing this now for two decades - I met Jennifer about 11 years ago, and we've been doing this weekly for all that time. This episode I am reading from Admir Serrano's book 'Nights on the Other Side: How I Discovered My Immortality' Nights on the Other Side” is a book that invites us to look at life from a different perspective: more lucid, more open, and less fearful. Admir describes out-of-body experiences with clarity, combining his personal testimony with scientific references. But above all, he conveys the sense that we are not alone and that we are something more than we believe. Bio I am a Brazilian-American researcher, writer and lecturer on paranormal phenomena such as out-of-body experiences (OBEs), near-death experiences (NDEs), deathbed visions (DBVs), after- death communication (ADC), reincarnation, mediumship and the afterlife. And an unabashed believer in our survival of physical death and the immortality of the spirit. My interest in these subjects was triggered after I began having spontaneous OBEs, back in the year 2000, and I wanted to understand the phenomenon. Since then, I have had hundreds of lucid and amazing experiences which have proven to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are immortal beings. Aware of the sadness that death of a loved one can cause – and I have experienced it myself – I have made it my life's mission to spread the notion that there is no death, that only the body dies, and since we are not our body, we survive death – unscathed. For my own edification regarding the dynamics of physical death, I have worked as a hospice volunteer providing spiritual support to terminally ill patients as they waited for their time to cross over to the other side of life. And this is what death is, a change of worlds, the end of one mode of living, the physical, to the beginning of a spiritual existence. I have bachelor's degrees in psychology and liberal studies, and a master's in theology. I am an avid reader with a broad interest in world and religious history, anthropology, geography, world affairs, and the humanities. I have written five books in my native Portuguese language on death, dying and the afterlife, and two in English on related topics. I write and lecture in both languages, as well as Spanish, the third language I speak. This is an edited podcast from 2024 where we spoke to the recently departed film producer Fred Roos. A close friend to Luana Anders, our moderator on the flipside, Jennifer had no idea who we were interviewing until midway through the podcast.  Fred had messages for many of his close friends, and in one instance I was able to pass that message along at his funeral. In this podcast, he has a message for Sophia and Francis Coppola, his long time pals, as well as Harrison Ford who's career he started. At his funeral Harrison said "Without Fred I wouldn't be here." Also a number of other people show up, including his pal Harry Dean Stanton (a skeptic and atheists whom Jennifer and I interviewed when he crossed over.) There are appearances by many people Fred knew, including Penny Marshall, Cindy Williams, also Aretha Franklin and Christopher Reeves. We do this podcast to show that anyone can speak to their loved ones offstage. It just so happens that I knew Fred Roos for four decades, and met him in his office at Zoetrope back in the day. We stayed pals over the years, he was always kind and generous with me - and he was a huge pal to Robert Towne and Luana Anders as well as Jack Nicholson. None of these names in this podcast are "name dropping" when we're talking to the source. These were all friends of his, and I have met most of them - including the one he references - the reincarnation of James Dean. Fred worked with this person, and while we don't mention the name - because the person whom Jennifer and I both interviewed for hours - knows that they are the reincarnation of James Dean, have known that their whole lives - but chooses not to share it with people. Father Nathan Castle Talks About Helping Stuck Souls Cross Over Our guest today is a longtime Seek Reality friend. He is the wonderful Father Nathan Castle, who is a leader in the field of doing afterlife rescue work, and he is with us for the 12th time. We have known Father Nathan here for perhaps seven years, ever since his first book came out, and Roberta could not believe at first that his spirit rescue work was something that the Catholic Church would even allow! But not only do they allow it, they seem to actively support it. So, very good for them indeed! Father Nathan Castle is a Dominican priest who lives and works in a community of Dominican men and women serving the University of Arizona in Tucson. He is a lovely, gentle, and very spiritual man, and something like thirty years ago, he was recruited by elevated beings not in bodies to do spirit rescue work with them. As it turns out, almost twenty-five percent of people will go off-track for a time when they die, and they often do that by their own choice. And our wonderful friend Father Nathan is one of those who is trusted to help to rescue some of those people, once they feel ready to complete their afterlife journeys. Father Nathan's terrific first book, which was called Afterlife, Interrupted – Helping Stuck Souls Cross Over, came out in 2019, and Roberta tells us that everything in it was completely consistent with what she had learned during all her decades of doing afterlife research.
