My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Robert Blake Whitehill, author of the book Deadrise. Robert was born into a Quaker family in Mardela Springs, just outside Salisbury on Maryland's Eastern Shore peninsula. He grew up sailing the Chesapeake Bay, and one of her most beautiful tributaries, the Chester River. After graduating from Westtown School, Whitehill stayed in Pennsylvania to earn his B.A. in creative writing at Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges. Later he trained as an actor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, and at The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York City. He is the author of the award-winning, critically acclaimed, multi-category, international Kindle bestselling Ben Blackshaw thrillers, which currently has six titles, and audiobooks in the works in German and English. Whitehill lives in New Jersey with his wife and son. When he wasn't sailing, or knocking around the sky in a Cessna 152, Whitehill published several articles about his home waters in Chesapeake Bay Magazine. He is also the managing partner of Calaveras Media LLC, a feature film and television development company. He is a member of SAG-AFTRA, International Thriller Writers, GPA Aviation Club, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and served for a number of years as an EMT-B with the Montclair Ambulance Unit.   In my book review, I stated Deadrise, a thriller, is Book #1 in The Ben Blackshaw Series. If you love a Tom Clancy kind of novel, then you will love this series. We meet Ben underwater - clamming in the Chesapeake Bay near Smith Island. However, instead of finding clams, he finds a sunken boat, 19 boxes of gold bouillon, a dirty bomb, and his dead father - a man he hasn't seen in 15 years. His clamming partner, Knocker Ellis, isn't as surprised as he should be, nor are the other inhabitants of the island. When Maynard Chalk learns his deal has gone sour, and that Ben's father is to blame, he comes to the island to get his money and the bomb - but Ben has other plans. I loved Robert's characters, and especially loved that Smith Island with all her quirky inhabitants was as much of a characters as Ben. If you love a good thriller with all the twists and turns, and great characters, then you will want to read Deadrise.  Purchase Deadrise on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/48Z8iAr Kindle: https://amzn.to/48Z8iAr     Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Robert Blake Whitehill Website: www.robertblakewhitehill.com X: @rbwhitehill IG: @robertblakewhitehill FB: @Robert Blake Whitehill Bluesky: @rbwhitehill   Purchase Deadrise on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/48Z8iAr Ebook: https://amzn.to/48Z8iAr   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   #robertblakewhitehill #deadrise #thriller #terimbrownauthor #authorpodcast #onlineforauthors #characterdriven #researchjunkie #awardwinningauthor #podcasthost #podcast #readerpodcast #bookpodcast #writerpodcast #author #books #goodreads #bookclub #fiction #writer #bookreview *As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

This is Part 2 of a 2-part interview I did with Anna Meredith. Her husband, Adam, checked into the hospital on September 5th, 2023 for routine procedures. Just two days later she received a call that she never expected.  “I'm so sorry, Mrs. Meredith…it appears your husband has had a stroke, and he has passed away.”  In this true story of Adam's call to Heaven and back, he and Anna recall their experiences from opposite sides of eternity. As Anna processes the biggest heartbreak in her life, Adam wrestles with his greatest questions about his faith and trust in God. In sixty unresponsive minutes, Adam finds his belief and faith have turned to knowledge, and he will never be the same again. There is a profound message in this conversation, and I know you'll enjoy it. So sit back and listen in as Anna Meredith shares her story!   ------------------- Adam Provost Meredith was a devout man of faith, dedicated family man, brilliant entrepreneur, and loyal friend. He had an endless vault of talents and passions which he selflessly shared, particularly in his leadership role at Celebrate Recovery ministry.  Adam began his education at the University of Colorado, earning his undergrad in Political Science and Economics. In 1999, after earning his MBA/MSF in International Business from Boston College, Adam began his banking career at Eastern Bank. Soon after, his passion for cars inspired him to co-found the automotive distributor TJM Motorsport in Concord, NH. He also held a passion for flying which landed him a job as a senior lender at  Santander's Aircraft Lending Group in Manchester, NH. He was then recruited by Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association in 2013 to form a new member services group as President of AOPA Finance, where he helped it grow to the largest aircraft financing broker in the nation. He proudly represented AOPA as a board member of National Aircraft Finance Association for two terms from 2015 -2021. Adam was a man dedicated to his family, including his wife, Anna Irena Meredith, and his sons, Donald Provost (15), and Karl Herbst (14). He was a beacon of faith, family, ambition, courage, love, and resilience, and his gentle personality continues to resonate within the hearts of everyone he encountered.  On December 11, 2023, he peacefully returned to his Maker after a fierce three-year battle with cancer. Love God, live in the moment, have no regrets, and do not be afraid to follow your dreams.   This is the legacy Adam Provost Meredith is forever leaving behind.   ----------------   Gone for 60 Minutes: How My Near Death Experience Took Me From Believing to Knowing is available now on Amazon.

EP 034: What if there was a time machine? How would it change our lives? Would you do things differently if you could? Well, today we're talking about a different take on a time machine. As we're aging, we tend to be a bit more sensitive to HOW we spend our time and WHAT we do with our time. Many times, retirees state the goal of wanting to travel TO places and experiencing new things. But the biggest issue with the destination is GETTING there, especially where we are in Maine in the northeast corner of the country. The time machine comes into play where we might be used to driving to our destination. Perhaps we want to go visit Boston and it's a 2 or 6-hour drive to get there. What if you could get there in 1/2 or 1/3 of the time? What about if you winter in Florida and it takes you multiple full days to drive there? What if you could get there in one day? What about longer trips where you're at the whim of the commercial airline industry and their schedule? Enter the concept of private flights and finding true location freedom in retirement!  Sean Collins is the Eastern Regional Manager at Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), where he advocates for the general aviation interests for AOPA and its members at the state and local level from Maine to Virginia. He also works to build the general aviation community and represents AOPA at local and regional aviation events. He also has a Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument and Multi-Engine ratings. Join us as we discuss Accessing the World of Piloting over 50 with Sean Collins! Chapters: Welcome, Sean! [3:30] What is it that appeals to people to pilot their own plane and how do they get started? [9:29] What should people know about being a private pilot as they age? [15:29] Who can afford to pilot and fly planes? [23:30] What are some pros and cons of private piloting versus commercial airlines? [41:07] Just how risky is private piloting?
