Today's story, 'Anasi And The Pot Of Wisdom' is a folktale from Africa about how everyone on Earth got some wisdom.Free activity sheet available at www.rituvaish.com/anansi-and-the-pot-of-wisdomSend your artwork to rituvaish@gmail.comTranscript:Stories from near and far are adapted from a local folk tale, teaching children, new perspectives from around the world. Without much ado let's get started.Anansi literally translates to spider, and is a folktale character associated with stories of wisdom, knowledge, and trickery, most commonly depicted as a spider, in African folklore.Anansi and the Pot of WisdomAnansi, the spider loves to spin a tale! He can amuse you for hours with stories full of wonder, stories full of fun, and stories full of facts.Children, which is your favourite Story?Anandi was very nosy. He knew almost everything about almost everybody. Almost. But Anansi wanted to know everything! So, one day, he went to the house of the Sun God. "Oh, mighty Sun God! You see everything and everyone! Won't you share your great wisdom with me? I'll use it wisely to spin tales of wonder and fun for everyone."The Sun God agreed, "Anansi, I will put all the wisdom in the world here in this clay pot. You must share this wisdom with everyone."Anansi was delighted and promised to do so. Anansi took the pot home. He looked deep into the clay pot and sure enough, he saw sights he had never seen before. He heard sounds he did not know existed. He became greedy. "This is too good to give away. I will keep this great wisdom for myself," thought Anansi."I must hide it!" he decided, and he looked around for a good hiding place. Anansi decided to climb to the top of the tallest tree. There he would tie up the clay pot and the leafy branches will hide it.Children, do you think that the top of the tree was a good place to hide the pot? Can you suggest another place.NiceNow listen ahead. He started climbing the tree, holding the pot in front of him. “The climbing is hard! He thoughtHave you ever climbed a tree while holding a pot? Anansi wishes he had nine limbs! His youngest daughter was outside and saw what a hard time Anansi was having. "Father, it would be easier if you tied the pot to your back. Then all your limbs would be free for climbing."Do you think Anansi is happy to get good advice from his daughter? Think again!"She is right—that would be easier! Why is it my young daughter could think of it, while I who possess all the wisdom of the world did not?"Anansi got so angry that he threw the pot to the ground. All the wisdom of the world came flowing out of the pot. Some fell here, some fell there. No one got all the wisdom, but everyone git some wisdom. This is why, even today, wisdom is everywhere. If you listen to the stories—stories spun from storytellers all around the world—you will hear it.

We live in a world where we so often feel that we need to live like men, work like men, and push ourselves like men in order to be valued. When the truth is that we are more-or-less twenty eight different women each month, and there is immense power and magic in this innate ebb and flow. As our guest today, Usha Anandi, the Founder of Womben Wellness says that women and people with cycles have four personalities every month, and each one has distinct spiritual gifts. Today we walk through the four inner seasons of the menstrual cycle, exploring the spiritual powers that become available to us as we move through the cycle month. Usha who is also known as Erin Foley, is a devoted Mother, holistic nutritionist, childbirth educator, full-spectrum doula, and herbalist committed to changing the status quo by alchemizing modern scientific information with ancient, energetic practices to serve the whole woman. We explore:How Usha didn't plan to work in this field, but her menstrual pain continually led her to her Calling to heal herself, and guide others to do the same. The importance of avoiding the capitalist, patriarchal traps of pushing ourselves in inner spring and summer by ‘bio-hacking' our bodies to get the most out of them, and instead embrace our natural pre-ovulatory playfulness, and our innate ovulatory capacity to be at the centre of our family and community lives. How connecting to our inner autumn truth-speaking powers can school us in expressing our calling and taking a stand for what we most love. ---Receive our free video training: Love Your Cycle, Discover the Power of Menstrual Cycle Awareness to Revolutionise Your Life - www.redschool.net/love---The Menstruality Podcast is hosted by Red School. "It's the daily practice of meditation without expectation. It's not a wish-fulfilling cow that if you meditate you'll have a great day. It's the practice of placing the identification on that meditation state as who you are."A loaded, joyful episode filled with satsang and conversation with my dear friend and fellow yogi Anandi Brownstein - a cinematographer and documentary director who shares her lived wisdom with us from a lifetime of meditating and growing up in the Himalayas of India. We surf on some profound concepts and share each of our unique perspectives. The extraterrestrial comedy podcast where we probe penis-snatching. Mr Moonwalker today makes the choice that Kev in the John, never, had. Twice. In 2023 Nigeria, the most awful of pandemic's broke out. Worse than life-ending disease, this pandemic resulted in people temporarily losing their penis. It's not just d*cks either, for some folks were losing nipples. These incidents have resulted in much pain and suffering via mob justice. There have also been police prosecutions related to these cases of vanishing penis. Alongside these horrific events we ponder whether a micropenis is the size of a nose? If you had the power to inflict people with a micro-organ, would you use it? Ultimately we ask whether this unusual epidemic was a case of aliens, a cryptid, demons, voodoo, a ghost, or telekinesis? Then we give Mr Moonwalker a gift he will never forget. All that and more on this week's file. We closed out the episode with the 'Staff Roll' aka credits theme from Nintendo's 1990-1992 Super Mario World from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, composed by Hero of Sound Kōji Kondō. Drinking rules: Kev filled the research notes with photos and artwork of the common human penis. Many, many hogs. These hogs were not directly referenced in the research, they were just hanging around. Every time Mr Moonwalker commented on any such image, he had to do a shot aka a mini-Moonie. I meet a lot of VERY successful women out there, who have it completely backwards – they go the extra mile to “get the job done,” and hit their targets, and exceed expectations…..but they don't take care of themselves. And they end up burning out. In today's episode of The Limitless Life podcast, I chat with one of my long-term clients, Anandi Nagarajan. And when we first met, Anandi was a classic self-sacrificer, who often “forgot” to eat, and would put herself last. Was she a complete BADASS at her corporate job? YES – but it came at the expense of her own wellbeing. We chat about how she has quit her demanding job, in order to launch her own consulting business….how she redefined her relationships and learned how to spend time with/for herself….and how she manifested a second baby! Anandi now has the TOOLS and self-awareness she needs to tap into her intuition, move through challenges quickly, and protect her energy. Her transformational story is incredibly inspiring! And if you want to hear MORE, be sure to hit PLAY on this episode! Wondering what you'll hear about in this episode? Here's a sneak peek: Why Anandi sought out mindset work, in the first place Truth: you can't be a high performer if you're not giving back to yourself The importance of modeling self-care Why surface-level mindset work only goes so far Anandi's initial skepticism about hypnosis The limiting beliefs that were keeping Anandi stuck The people-pleasing trap disguised as high-performance The surprising thing about boundary-setting Giving yourself permission to dream bigger How doing the “inner work” transformed Anandi's relationships The trickle-down effect, and how mindset work can impact the kids in your life ************************************Spring spots for my 3-month Exclusive 1:1 Expansion Coaching are now open: APPLY HERE ************************************ Let's get social: Check out the website Brenda on Instagram: @_brendajohnston Brenda on Tik Tok: @brenda.johnston

Jim Eby was born in 1952 in Kitchener, Onto his parents Howard and Annie Eby. Eby's parents were dairy farming at the time on my grandfather's farm in what is now the Stanley Park area of Kitchener .When the farm was sold for development his parents purchased a 167 acre farm near Conestogo. Jim has five siblings and attended elementary school in Conestogo and high school in Elmira. Jim Eby, has two brothers and the three of us developed a love for livestock and farming. For a number of years my father rented another farm near ours and my brothers and I farmed together with my dad .Eventually his brother John purchased his own farm and my brother David purchased a farm and my wife and Jim took ownership of the home farm. Since a young age Jim Eby has had a keen interest in marketing farm products directly to the public. As a result of the DFO (Milk Marketing Board) allowing provision for dairy farms to brand and market the milk they produce on their own farm, we took advantage of the opportunity , and in May,2012 we began the process of having our milk bottled at Hewitts Dairy Their brand is Eby Manor Golden Guernsey, and they currently sell their milk in many retail locations in Ontario as well as restaurants and cafes. They also have a busy dairy market on our farm. Our milk is produced by 60 registered guernsey cows on our farm, and additional milk is sourced from two other guernsey herds in our area. Their milk is higher in nutritional value than commercial milk, is more flavorful and is A2 protein which enables many dairy intolerant people to be able to enjoy it without adverse reactions. #jimeby #ebymanor #milk #smallbusiness #familyowed #local #dairy #waterlooontario #guest #smalltalkpodcast #anandicarrollwoolery #chrispomay #livestream #youtube #facebook #twitter #twitch #linkedin #audio #amazonmusic #iheartradio #spotify #anchorfm #stitcher #tunein #applepodcasts #googlepodcast #linkedin #radiopublic #pocketcasts #breaker #castbox

Until recently, classical music around the world has loved to project itself as being beyond the grasp of the masses. Carnatic music has been no exception to this self-created aura of inscrutability. Her training under legends in the field and a constant connect with young minds at Anandi make her ideally placed to offer a session on the basics of appreciating Carnatic music at multiple levels. Accompanying Mangala in this episode of BIC Talks is a small cohort of talented young singers from Anandi. This session is adapted from a live venue event that took place in May 2022. Are 'facts' a tool for manipulation? Listen to find out!Looking for a link we mentioned? It's here: https://linktr.ee/philosophyforourtimesFacts and reason are essential if we are to make progress and create a better world. At least that's how it used to be. But now it seems everyone has their own 'facts'. Our political leaders have 'alternative' facts, but so, it is also claimed, do the liberal elite and the mainstream media. Meanwhile, reason has been derided by many as a typically male bludgeon to deny alternative views. Should we welcome the challenge to facts and reason as a progressive move undermining the authority of traditional Western hierarchies? Or is the undermining of facts and reason a singularly dangerous exercise?Professor of Philosophy at the Open University Sophie-Grace Chappell, Professor of Philosophy at Stockholm University Anandi Hattiangadi and Professor of Philosophy at the New College of the Humanities Simon Blackburn dicuss the changing value of truth in contemporary society. Usha Anandi was fifteen years old and was on the pill when she started down the path of recognizing how disconnected womb health and our understanding of our womb is from the rest of our body in our current medical structure. None of the medical practitioners she encountered provided concrete answers for her and that's when she decided to take her journey into her own hands towards healing. Usha explains how just as Mother Earth experiences seasons, so do women. The first phase is the follicular phase or what Usha calls the “inner spring” because that's when its freshness comes over our body and it begins once the blood of your menstrual cycle stops; the next is the ovulatory phase or the “inner summer” where we experience our ovulation or the peak of fertility; the luteal phase or “inner autumn” is when estrogen falls and progesterone rises which increases the linings of our uterus; lastly is menstruation or “inner winter” where progesterone falls and triggers the release of the endometrium and the shedding or the release of blood. Patriarchy, racism, and classicism have impacted modern-day gynecology and midwifery and a lot or procedures were developed through experimenting with black and enslaved women. The women who continued the tradition of midwifery were black but 90% of midwives in the US are now white women. Now, it has become highly medicalized, industrialized, and attended by obstetrical practitioners. Usha Anandi's work is focused on revolutionizing the way modern healthcare serves the sacred and the ancient within each woman. She founded Womben Wellness and is a holistic nutritionist, childbirth educator, full-spectrum doula, and herbalist. Anandi Mani walks the listeners through her paper - Sex Workers, Stigma, and Self-Image: Evidence from Kolkata Brothels along with host Avantika Prabhakar, a PhD candidate in Economics at the University of Virginia. The second episode focuses on the paper which studies the link between self-image and behavior among those who face stigma due to poverty and social exclusion. Anandi speaks of her experiences, collaborating with Dr. Smarajit Jana and Durbar; an organisation working for sex workers' rights. Using a randomized field experiment with sex workers in Kolkata (India), the paper examines whether a psychological intervention to mitigate the adverse effects of internalized stigma can induce behavior change. The study findings show significant improvements in participants' self-image, their savings choices, and health clinic visits. Anandi shares the potential of purely psychological interventions to improve the life choices and outcomes of marginalized groups.

In 1883, a young woman named Anandi Joshi set out from her native India to the United States to study medicine. To do so, as Nandini Patwardhan describes in her book Radical Spirits: India's First Woman Doctor and Her American Champions (Story Artisan Press, 2020) required overcoming numerous hurdles, which she did thanks to the support of family and friends on two continents. One of them, as Patwardhan explains, was her husband Gopal, who often moved with his young wife to various posts throughout India so as to obtain an education for her. The death of their son soon after childbirth fueled Anandi's desire to study medicine, while the couple's relationships with American missionaries led to an invitation to stay in America. Though Anandi faced numerous problems adapting to life in America and her husband's oftentimes antagonistic nature added to her stress, through her hard labors and the aid of her friends Anandi succeeded in obtaining her medical degree, only to die tragically soon after her celebrated return to India in 1886. In this exclusive podcast with Anandi, The Sleep Guru, we hear about sleep retreats - a chance to relax and recharge but also learn new skills to improve sleep and wellness. Anandi starts by telling us how she found balance through yoga, breathing and Ayurveda. "In fact, it changed my life." says Anandi. She continues telling the listeners how she went from a seasoned insomniac to someone who sleeps normally and feels amazing most of the time using the tools she is now teaching. "I know personally what it's like to suffer from insomnia night after night, month after month, year after year. I looked 10 years older than I was and felt awful all the time." Lack of sleep ruins your creativity, affects your relationships and has serious effects on your health. Plus, lack of sleep will affect the way you look and how fast you age. Drugs are often the only thing being recommended by professionals for insomnia, but drugs have side effects internally and externally. Using tools to calm the mind, physical cleansing techniques and nutrition, in the right order, you can overcome your insomnia and improve your vitality. Health and good sleep is possible when you are in balance. You don't need drugs. The only way to achieve balance is to learn how to make the right lifestyle choices and rituals that keep you healthy. Sleep retreats are becoming more popular as our lives become more stressful, complicated and wired. Many corporations are now turning to sleep and wellness retreats for sales incentive trips, allowing employees to return to work refreshed and ready to work. Anandi will even craft a retreat at the location of your choice and personalize it based on your circumstance. Anandi explains that one of the fundamental reasons she started running retreats was because she realized that people needed the space and time to let go of the stress they accumulate through sleep deprivation and over work. It's very difficult to do it alone and it becomes too tempting to turn to drugs for respite from sleeplessness. The retreat is just the beginning. Anandi will craft a day by day instructions on lifestyle, food, yoga and breath work and meditation. After your retreat, there are many different options for your continued journey to better sleep. You can work with Anandi in your home or on line. If you're struggling with sleep deprivation or exhaustion, make the time to get to a retreat. Some people say “I can't afford it”, or “I can't take the time”. Think about what would happen if you don't do something? Fast forward five years of pushing yourself to the limits and think about how that could manifest? Taking time for yourself is a necessity, not a luxury.
