Single focus and Expansiveness by Ordinary Mind Zen School
In this episode of the Small Business PR Podcast, Gloria opens up about a $5,000 business event that left her with more questions than answers—and why she believes it's time for small business owners to redefine success on their own terms. After investing in travel, accommodations, and the ticket itself, she expected a transformative learning experience. Instead, she was met with high-pressure sales tactics, lack of diversity, and a singular definition of success rooted only in revenue and acquisition. If you've ever felt out of place in the “bro marketing” world—or wondered whether scaling at all costs is really worth it—this episode will resonate with you.Why Growth at All Costs Is Not the Only PathGloria shares what she experienced at the event:Diversity gaps: out of 120 attendees, she was one of just a handful of women and women of color.Sales-driven agenda: the entire conference centered on selling businesses to private equity, not holistic growth.Pressure tactics: upsells, velvet ropes, and exclusivity designed to push a $20K offer.Redefining Success Beyond RevenueThrough this experience, Gloria reflects on a deeper truth:Success isn't always measured by 7-figure topline revenue.Impact, balance, and freedom are equally valuable.Small businesses can thrive by focusing on relationships, healing, and alignment—not just numbers.Takeaways for Small Business OwnersQuestion the spaces you invest in: Does their definition of success align with yours?Redefine growth: Expansiveness, healing, and time with family can be just as valuable as financial KPIs.Bring humanity back to marketing: Customers crave authenticity, not templates or pressure.Final ReflectionThis episode is not about calling anyone out—it's about opening a conversation. Gloria invites you to think critically about the business gurus you follow and the strategies you adopt. Is it your definition of success—or someone else's?

Pastor Erina reflects on our church value for moving with expansiveness- following the movements of the Spirit in ways that stretch, surprise, and expand. As we witness all the ways that our society is moving towards contraction and restriction rather than expansiveness, how might we be a church that continues to stay soft? How might we be open to the "many ways" that God can work in a faith community?
In this episode, my guest is Dr. Ellen Langer, Ph.D., professor of psychology at Harvard University and the world's leading researcher on the mind-body connection and the power our thinking has on our physical health. She explains how specific ways of framing and asking questions about the world shape our physical health and rate of aging. Dr. Langer also explains how our perception of time and control significantly impact our rate of physical healing, hormones, immune system, and longevity. She describes mindfulness as a way of framing life, not simply a meditation or other practice, and discusses data showing how to use one's mind to overcome health challenges and achieve remarkable outcomes. Dr. Langer is a luminary and pioneer in researching the relationship between the mind and body with scientific rigor. Her work and our discussion are applicable to women and men of all ages and walks of life. Read the full episode show notes at hubermanlab.com. It's hard to live expansively these days, with an open heart and an open mind. But is it possible?
"It's the daily practice of meditation without expectation. It's not a wish-fulfilling cow that if you meditate you'll have a great day. It's the practice of placing the identification on that meditation state as who you are."A loaded, joyful episode filled with satsang and conversation with my dear friend and fellow yogi Anandi Brownstein - a cinematographer and documentary director who shares her lived wisdom with us from a lifetime of meditating and growing up in the Himalayas of India. We surf on some profound concepts and share each of our unique perspectives. Nandi shares her thoughts on life and practice that we can all begin to think about for ourselves;➖cultivating inner expansiveness as a brilliant tool to move effortlessly in the world;➖the yogic work of purification and expansion;➖ maintaining peace as an individual;➖why confusion happens and how to get out of it and;➖not identifying with any limiting idea that confines you.She also reads a verse from Sri Nisaragadatta Maharaj's book of discourse called “I am That” and we discuss Josh Scheri's podcast “The Emerald”.Thanks for listening!

Steff Fenton (they/them) is a trans Christian speaker, writer, educator, and advocate who publicly shares the intersections of queerness and faith. Steff is passionate about creating safe spiritual spaces for LGBTIQA+ people and helping others cultivate a more equitable and expansive faith. I asked Steff on the podcast because they get in the way of all the prejudice I was taught in the faith culture I grew up in. Steff is transgender and is not only Christian, but has co-founded and co-pastored a church, has a Masters of Divinity, and lets their faith shape their way of being in the world. Steff is an amazingly loving human being who longs to see everyone embraced for who they are. In this conversation Steff and I talk about their contrasting experiences of coming out within a church context, firstly around sexuality, and later around gender, and how those experiences highlight what the church often is and what it can be. We talk about exclusion and embrace and the effects those have on people. And we talk about the ways in which embracing those who are different from us, and particularly hearing the transgender voice, can give us a fuller and more beautiful picture of God. “What choices will lead me to greater integration and wholeness?” renowned author, meditation pioneer, and teacher Sharon Salzberg asks in her latest book, Real Life: The Journey from Isolation to Openness and Freedom. "We're told so many stories about who we are and what we are capable of that are given to us. They're not born of our own clear seeing,” she says. “Being able to step back from our conditioning and really question…When can I breathe? When do I feel like I can't breathe? One of the things we discover is that it's not through a certain feeling arising, like fear. It's through being enveloped in and overcome by it. So, we don't have to put ourselves down or be ashamed of what we feel. We can see that the way that we relate to our thoughts, feelings, and sensations is going to make a big difference.” In our conversation, we explore invaluable tools to reframe that relationship, and in so doing, discover the expansiveness that is always available to us.
In this episode of "The Art of Alchemy" podcast, Natasha de Grunwald shares her personal experiences of surrendering control and being present, which has brought her a feeling of expansiveness. She discusses the challenges and benefits of letting go of control, including expanding self-awareness and building confidence. Natasha invites listeners to join her in exploring their own expansiveness and embracing their edges in her upcoming workshop. She also reflects on areas of her life where she is learning to let go of control and emphasizes the importance of finding a balance between action and surrender. Natasha encourages listeners to question their conditioning and explore their edges.Join Expansive AF by clicking here.

We need to have a more expansive approach to using empty building for housing; empty storefronts for mental health clinics; closed nursing homes, hospitals and motels for bridge and interim housing. This episode explores the spiritual concepts and applies them to current challenges. www.friendsindeedpas.org

How do religion, mysticism, and metaphysics dance together? Do they? Or are they separate paths of exploring our relationship with the Divine? I grew up Jewish, more culturally so than religiously observant, but always felt a draw to explore the deeper experiences of humanity. That has been a continuing and compelling force in my life. When I recently met my guest today, Rabbi Jessica Marshall, at an online “tea party”, I invited her to join me on Wisdom Talk Radio. You can join us for this tea party today! Rabbi Jessica Kessler Marshall leads women's circles and retreats across the United States. Offering creative rituals, intentional reflection, mindfulness, and the wisdom of the natural world, Rabbi Marshall guides with humor, Divine presence, authenticity, and compassion. Her podcast Sacred Stories, explores how in other's stories we hear our own and shape our lives anew. She happily dances between rabbi and a mystic leading with spiritual expansiveness. ON COACHING | Where do teaching and coaching overlap and how do they differ? Which skills transfer? Many of our team members were educators for years before they decided to become executive coaches. Former teachers/current Novus Global coaches Amanda Jaggard, Laura Leffelaar, Randy Poon, and Joseph Thompson discuss the venn diagram of teaching students and coaching adults. While the disposition required of great coaches and teachers is similar--an unconditional belief in their clients or students--the approach is not the same. The group discusses artificial limits, inquiry-based coaching, and how the ability to impart knowledge effectively in a classroom is a different art than the ability to ask the right open-ended questions to "unleash the genius" in a client. Novus Global is a tribe of elite executive coaches who work with Fortune 500 Companies, Professional Athletes, World Renowned Artists and Business Leaders to create lives, teams and companies that go beyond high-performance.Book a free consultation with a Novus Global coach here: http://novus.global/now/ This podcast is produced by Rainbow Creative with Matthew Jones as Senior Producer and Jeremy Davidson as Editor and Audio engineer. All of us have some version of this thought, “I don't have enough time”, Even if it is really true that you have a task that will take an hour and you only have 30 minutes, your brain will lose focus, be frustrated and not be helpful if you think and believe that you don't have enough time. What if there is another way and you just have to teach the brain how. What if this other way felt more expansive, made work more fun and helped you to be more productive?
