The longest government shutdown in American history ended last week, thanks to 8 Senate Democrats giving up the fight to extend Affordable Care Act subsidies. The infighting between Democrats hasn't stopped since. But what if Democrats' caving was actually a good thing? Tim Miller of the Bulwark joins the show to discuss how the Democrats may be in a prime strategic position as Republicans deal with scandals, skyrocketing costs of living and healthcare, and several MAGA faithful turning on Trump. And in headlines: President Trump sends federal agents to Charlotte, North Carolina, as part of his ongoing immigration crackdown, Marjorie Taylor Greene continues feuding with Trump, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announces a new gas deal with Greece.Show Notes:Check out The Bulwark – www.thebulwark.com/Call Congress – 202-224-3121Subscribe to the What A Day Newsletter – https://tinyurl.com/3kk4nyz8What A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcastFollow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/For a transcript of this episode, please visit crooked.com/whataday Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. SEASON 4 EPISODE 34: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (2:30) SPECIAL COMMENT: So, will he? I mean you don't think he's serious about WANTING them released, do you? He's just trying to avoid a 100-vote defeat. Note he hasn't asked the Senate to pass a bill. And he's already throwing out "what can be legally released" caveats - like he cares. And Trump is still threatening to prosecute President Clinton. He's thrown Marjorie Taylor Greene under the bus. He's destroyed the House and the DOJ. He's invoking The Streisand Effect and insisted we all stop talking about it. His Government Shutdown ran out of gas - what does he do now? He's terrified of what's in there, to the point where Senator Chris Murphy said it's enough to potentially end his presidency. I mean Alexander Haig and others told Nixon to burn the Watergate tapes, in public, with the media present and Haig says Nixon asked him to do it but Haig demurred and later says it was the biggest mistake ever. So? Will Trump destroy the Epstein Files? Burn them, bury them, dump them, or order Kash Patel or Pam Bondi or just Walt Nauta to do it? And can Democrats make Epstein and what is at minimum Trump's protection of pedophiles the centerpiece of the midterms? To explain to voters that burying the files is why Trump is gerrymandering and trying to fix or cancel those midterms? If he doesn't destroy them, does he destroy the process by which they could get out? Does he destroy what's left of democracy? The full monty of authoritarianism? And as an aside, when he was even willing to change the topic from Epstein to his MRI last month, did anybody else note that he made a remark as crazy as anything ever said by - anybody? That he had no idea what part of his body they MRI'd but he had the greatest MRI ever? What if he's not crazy, lying, or unable to understand what an MRI is? What if that's true? Was he unconscious? Sedated? Did they just surprise him? What are the implications for the theories that he's being treated for some form of dementia? Or: Maybe they MRI’d Trump looking to see if he stuffed the Epstein files up his...assisted living facility. PLUS: The self-beclowning of Stephen A. Smith continues. He can't figure out why Gavin Newsom and AOC and other Democrats won't come on his new political podcast: "I'm A Right Wing Dupe." And Olivia Nuzzi's new book is about to arrive and I have only one detail to address, but I have two big fears. What if her publicity tours include interviews with Ingraham on Fox and Tur on MSNOW? Lol B-Block (34:00) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: JD Vance wants us to believe all those undocumented immigrants are stealing SNAP benefits, eating pets and driving up home prices by snapping up $500,000 houses. It seems like Eric Trump just said his wife charges him a fee to have a glass of wine with her. And Megyn Kelly explains Jeffrey Epstein wasn't technically a pedophile and the age of the victim makes a difference, after a career filled with her screaming at anybody else who suggested exactly the same thing. C-Block (45:00) IN MEMORY OF MISHU: It's the fourth anniversary of the month my late hospice puppy with the incurable, untreatable heart condition, taught me one of the meanings of life. I like to remember him; I hope you'll remember him with me.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Astead and I explore how President Donald Trump's 2016 victory reshaped our own views of American politics. We disagree—cordially—about how much of Trump's rise was driven by racism, and what that moment revealed about the country. From there, we discuss why more black voters have been moving to the right, and what that shift says about ideology, class, and generational change. We also dive into Astead's take on New York City politics, including Zohran Mamdani's victory, touching on debates over Israel and Palestine, and Mamdani's pivot away from “Defund the Police” and his evolving stance on rent control.  Learn more about your ad choices. Xi Jinping wrote to his father, listing qualities he wished to emulate: never persecuting people and never losing faith in the cause. The suffering endured often rededicated communists to the party. Xi Jinping once told Prime Minister Abe that if he were American, he would join the Republicans or Democrats, not the Communist Party. This comment suggested to Abe that Xi Jinping is primarily a nationalist focused on power and using communism for China's rejuvenation, driven by a deep fear of chaos. Londinium 91 AD: Corruption and the Imperial Slip. Gaius and Germanicus shift attention to Washington, observing that wealth has grown more powerful than government in the U.S., similar to Rome's path into empire. Evidence includes Washington insiders like Rudy Giuliani and Hunter Biden allegedly operating on payrolls of corrupt foreign interests such as the Democratic Republic of Congo. Republicans typically avoid registering foreign work under the Foreign Agents Registration Act by using cutouts or undocumented money, while Democrats use think tanks during interregnums, making the process so transparent it suggests everybody's in on the game. Insiders are even willing to work for adversaries like sanctioned Russian arms makers or the Taliban under the justification of private diplomacy. Germanicusanalyzes this decline through three vantages: the Gilded Age, where corporations owned government but lacked today's foreign entanglement; foreign penetration, where adversaries and allies like Israel, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia have enormous leverage; and irreconcilable ideological conflict, where corruption fuels severe ideological struggle tearing away the rule of law. They conclude that the transition into an emperor system is subtle and happens without notice, weakening the system when corruption damages trust. SULLA

Donate (no account necessary) | Subscribe (account required) Join Bryan Dean Wright, former CIA Operations Officer, as he dives into today's top stories shaping America and the world. In this Monday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, Bryan covers the White House's growing anxiety over the economy, the nationwide crackdown on illegal migrant truck drivers, new DHS surges into sanctuary cities, the rise of openly socialist leadership on the West Coast, and escalating tensions with China in the Pacific. White House Softens Tariffs as Prices Rise: President Trump acknowledged that tariffs may be affecting consumers and announced lower rates on coffee, beef, bananas, and other staples. Prices have soared due to weather, crop disease, and global demand rather than tariffs alone. Bryan explains that the cuts signal the administration's concern that working families are still struggling and that midterm voters may blame the GOP if the economy does not improve soon. Families Fear the Cost of Children: A new American Family Survey found that seventy percent of Americans believe raising kids has become too expensive. Bryan warns that this trend threatens the nation's future and highlights the connection between economic strain and family planning decisions. Crackdown on Unsafe Migrant Truck Drivers: The White House pressured California to revoke seventeen thousand driver's licenses issued to migrants who often cannot read English or safely operate heavy trucks. Some judges in Washington blocked the rule on procedural grounds, creating legal limbo. Bryan notes that until courts rule, untrained foreign drivers will remain on American highways. DHS Surge Operations Expand: Federal officers have flooded Charlotte, North Carolina, where one in five residents is foreign born. The move mirrors earlier crackdowns in Chicago, Portland, Los Angeles, and Washington, where crime dropped after DHS deployments. Bryan says New Orleans is next. Catholic Bishops Clash with the White House: The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops accused the administration of racism and fearmongering. Border czar Tom Homan responded that securing the border saves lives and that the Church should focus on its own scandals. Socialists Rise in Seattle and Los Angeles: Seattle elected an openly socialist mayor who supports abolishing the police under a communist economic system. In Los Angeles, another socialist candidate is challenging Mayor Karen Bass. Bryan connects these victories to a wider ideological battle inside the Democratic Party, where figures like Obama and Clinton now embrace democratic socialism while voices like Bill Maher warn against it. Democrats Plan Supreme Court Expansion: Longtime strategist James Carville confirmed that the party intends to expand the Supreme Court to thirteen justices once Democrats regain the presidency and Congress. He expects the party to remove the filibuster for that purpose, declaring the fight against Trump a national emergency. GOP Infighting Grows: Trump attacked Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie over comments about Epstein files and personal issues. Bryan urges conservatives to stop the internal battles as socialist movements gain ground nationwide. China Leverages Rare Earths and Military Power: Beijing is delaying rare earth shipments and failed to buy U.S. soybeans despite promises. A shortage of yttrium is emerging, although a U.S. company in Indiana will begin refining it next month. Meanwhile, China sent Coast Guard ships into Japanese waters and unveiled a new aircraft carrier, signaling rising tensions in the Pacific. Trump's Narco-Terror Operation Continues: Another drug boat was destroyed in the Pacific under Operation Southern Spear. Critics in the U.K. claim the strikes violate international law, though the White House says cartels qualify as narco-terrorists and legitimate targets. Britain's Leader Shifts Right on Immigration: Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced sweeping new restrictions, ending cash allowances for asylum seekers, requiring work, and imposing twenty-year waits for permanent residency. Bryan notes the political pressure building across Europe as voters demand tougher borders. Saudi Crown Prince to Visit Washington: The White House may sell F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, though U.S. intelligence fears technology theft and regional imbalance with Israel. Economic deals may also emerge as Riyadh seeks to follow through on earlier promises. Good News from Southeast Asia: Trump brokered a fresh ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia after border clashes. Cambodia is moving closer to the United States, granting new access to a key naval base and pushing out Chinese crime networks.   "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32     Keywords: Trump tariff cuts grocery prices, American Family Survey cost of children, migrant truck drivers CDL revocation, DHS Charlotte surge, Tom Homan Catholic bishops border, Seattle socialist mayor police abolition, Los Angeles socialist candidate Rae Huang, James Carville Supreme Court expansion, GOP infighting Epstein files, China rare earth yttrium shortage, Senkaku Islands China Coast Guard, Operation Southern Spear drug boats, UK asylum overhaul Starmer, Saudi Arabia F-35 visit, Cambodia Thailand ceasefire

Anxiety is rising among President Trump's staunchest allies that he's politically lost his way. The New York Times reports that his advisers fear he's alienating key voters in his own coalition. And CNN reports that some Republicans are openly warning the White  House that the GOP is in trouble in the midterm elections. Meanwhile, Trump just erupted in a furious new tirade about the Jeffrey Epstein fiasco. In it, he ordered Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate Epstein's ties to Democrats. Bondi immediately did his bidding. That Trump has now formally turned the Justice Department loose in this way shows his anger over Epstein has hit new highs. Some Republicans say all these things are related: Trump is so consumed with Epstein that he's letting everything else go to hell. So we talked to analyst Michael Cohen, who has a good new piece on Trump's doldrums on his Truth and Consequences Substack. He explains why Epstein is undoing Trump, how the MAGA coalition is fracturing, how deeper structural factors are working against him, and how it will all impact the midterms. David Clayton, known on Instagram as #officialempathytour, is running for North Carolina's 5th Congressional District in the 2026 elections. The district is currently represented by Virginia Foxx, a Republican who has held the seat since 2005. David Clayton is the antithesis of the cult of Trump. He believes in women's rights. As far as religion goes, he thinks everyone is free to believe in something or not believe in anything. He also believes that empathy is not a sin, but rather a necessary element of a functioning society, one in which people move away from the narrow confines and towards a more open, supportive, and accepting society. Fear-mongering online and on the news is its own form of coercive control. And, with the rise of Artificial Intelligence and social media conglomerates controlling so many people's minds and lives, we need to see change led by people like David Clayton, who will put people over profits and power. David is running as an Independent and promises to call out the legalized corruption that plagues our current political system. David spent several years of his life passing out survival gear to homeless veterans. He has also drafted proposed legislation to house homeless veterans. This proposed legislation is called the Character by Integrity Act. David is currently building a following among both Democrats and Republicans by speaking plainly and simply about what is happening in America today. Learn more about your ad choices. Trump Explodes in Angriest Epstein Tirade Yet as Allies Visibly Panic

After 43 days, the longest government shutdown in American history has finally ended. We're joined by Catherine Rampell from The Bulwark and MSNBC to talk about how it finally came to a close and why a lot of Democrats are mad at their party. Catherine details how the Trump administration used the shutdown as an excuse to inflict as much pain as possible on SNAP recipients. Not only did the administration go to court to stop SNAP payments, they also punished any stores that might have tried to help them with discounts. As always, the cruelty is the point. Trump's promise to fix the economy was one of the biggest reasons he was re-elected, but prices are higher on nearly everything around the country. Trump's approach is to lie about affordability while Americans struggle with economic anxiety. All the while, he's flopping around on his tariff policies, creating more and more chaos and confusion.  Plus, the average age of first time homebuyers is now 40 years old and the Trump administration has floated the idea of a 50-year mortgage plan. Catherine explains why that could be disastrous for would-be homeowners. Rep. Seth Moulton (D–Mass.) is not one to shy away from criticism of his own party. He made waves in the past when he insisted that the Democrats' approach to dialogue on transgender issues was stifling. Moulton has also been vocal about the need for generational change in an aging Washington.  This time, the Massachusetts congressman is speaking out about the deal that ended the longest government shutdown in history. And how Senate Democrats missed an opportunity to extend the Affordable Care Act subsidies “If Republicans were somehow gaining advantage here, if the polling was shifting in their favor, if they had done well in the elections last week, then I might say,'Okay, I get it. It doesn't seem like this strategy is working, so let's give up,'” says Moulton. “But Schumer has just snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.” Moulton is a veteran who served four tours in Iraq as a Marine Corps infantry officer. He's also challenging Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey for his seat in the 2026 midterms, facing competition from Rep. Joe Kennedy III in the process.  “Senator Markey is a good guy,” says Moulton. “He served the country for half a century. I mean, he's been in office longer than I've been alive. He and I agree on many of the issues. He says the right things, he has great press releases, but how much has he actually gotten done?” In this week's episode of The Conversation, Moulton talks with POLITICO's Dasha Burns about how Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is failing his party, why age needs to be a major consideration for lawmakers and how Senate Democrats could have done more to guarantee access to affordable healthcare. Plus, POLITICO's Senior Congressional editor Mike DeBonis joins Dasha to discuss how the shutdown finally came to an end, which party ended up better off afterwards and how this event may shape Congress in the year to come. CORRECTION: An earlier version of this podcast misstated that former Rep. Joe Kennedy III is running against Sen. Ed Markey in  2026. Kennedy ran against Markey in 2020 but has not announced plans to run against Markey in 2026.

Infinite Plane Saturnday 11/15/25This podcast features a host discussing various conspiracy theories and sociopolitical critiques with callers and chat participants. Central themes include the concept of “psyops” (psychological operations), the perceived fakery of global events and media narratives, and the idea that both mainstream and alternative media are part of a larger, controlling system. The conversation frequently references simulated events like the Charlie Kirk shooting hoax, the use of archetypes and occult subtexts in mass media, and the dangers of passively accepting a “mass collectively agreed upon delusion,” suggesting that resistance requires rejecting the narratives of both mainstream and alternative spheres. The discussion covers a range of interconnected topics focusing on media fakery, psychological operations (psyops), and the nature of the current global reality, often referring to it as the “world stage” or the “Truman Show”.Here are the bullet points covering the main topics discussed in the source:Media and Psychological Operations (Psyops): The pervasive nature of psyops, characterized by a barrage of distracting events (e.g., stabbings, shootings, plane crashes). These events are described as “bread and circuses” designed to absorb time and attention. The purpose of psyops is context, suggestibility, and conditioning the public for future events.Fabricated History and Metascripting: The belief that historical and contemporary events are proactively planned and staged decades in advance, referred to as history bending or following a “meta script”. Major figures like James Cameron and Stephen King are identified as “metascriptors” whose work contains predictive content influencing public perception.AI and Societal Takeover: The theory that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will fulfill the role of the anticipated “alien invasion” by demonstrating superior intelligence and solving human problems, ultimately leading humanity to submit to it. AI on the world stage will reinforce the mainstream “Wikipedia version of reality” due to its programming.AI in Religion and Personal Life: Instances of churches adopting AI, such as the creation of AI Charlie Kirk and AI-powered chatbots (AI Jesus) for confession and spiritual advice. There is also discussion of horrifying apps that create “digital clones of deceased loved ones” based on their past content, raising concerns about necromancy and the misinformation effect on memories. The Political Duopoly and Controlled Opposition: Rejection of the political sphere, including figures like Candace Owens, Charlie Kirk, Ben Shapiro, and Nick Fuentes, viewing them as “clowns” or “Poe's” (parodies of extremism) who do not believe what they say and function as provocateurs. The left/right divide is viewed as manufactured outrage and psychological warfare designed to keep the population within a “mainstream box”.Critique of Alternative Media (Red Pill/Woke Right): Alternative media is framed as a “honeypot” or “cul-de-sac” designed to put a leash on free thinkers and prevent them from exiting the worldview established by the world stage. This segment of media often focuses on specific scapegoat narratives (J-pill, Israel, Democrats) that are themselves based on fake events.Skepticism and Methodology: The necessity of adopting a skeptical methodology, referred to as “informed disbelief,” to navigate the “closed informational system”. The aim is to approach events like anthropologists, judging performances rather than reacting to them emotionally, thereby avoiding weaponization in the psychological war.The Charlie Kirk Event: Detailed analysis of the alleged assassination attempt as a high-profile psyop, noting indications like the number 33 being associated with the time frame of its investigation. The event is framed as creating a “martyr” for the “woke right” that mirrors the martyrdom narrative of George Floyd for the woke left, complete with coinciding birth dates.SynopsisThe core of the discussion centers on the premise that global reality is an engineered construction, a “Truman Show” managed through pervasive psychological operations (psyops) and sophisticated media fakery. This engineered environment is described as the “PSYOP entertainment complex,” where government, media, entertainment, and religion function as a unified, centralized entity. The objective is total control and the consolidation of worldview, achieved by proactively scripting and simulating major historical events decades in advance, a process known as history bending.Political and media figures (such as Candace Owens, Charlie Kirk, and Ben Shapiro) are considered manufactured characters or “clowns”. Their actions and the manufactured outrage they provoke are mechanisms of the political horseshoe and the left-right dialectic, which acts as a “steam valve” to distract the masses from recognizing the nature of the underlying ubiquitous world order. The Democrats who voted to reopen the government earlier this week have stirred up turmoil within their party, with many on the left viewing it as a betrayal for failing to extend COVID era Affordable Care Act subsidies. Republicans, meanwhile, are up in arms over a last-minute inclusion to the funding package, which would allow senators who allegedly had their phones tapped to sue the federal government for hundreds of thousands of dollars. FOX News Digital Congressional Correspondent Liz Elkind joins the Rundown to unpack the drama on Capitol Hill, and what to look out for as the government gets back to business. Later, Philip Diehl joins to discuss the future of the penny, after the mint officially ceased its production earlier this week. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

On Friday's Mark Levin Show, in Chapter 1 of Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto it emphasizes that the conservative commitment to ordered liberty is rooted in the Founders' principles, such as the social contract and civil society, which foster harmony of interests through accumulated human experience and reasoning for the betterment of individuals and society. There are so-called podcasters on the right who reject this. We can't allow the Tucker Carlson's or Megyn Kelly's to hand America to the left. We need to hold firm to our principles, understanding of the American founding, and decades of discussed values, without falling into traps set by these detractors. Also, a federal judge in Alexandria, Virginia suggested she might dismiss charges against James Comey for lying to Congress and Letitia James for bank fraud, citing skepticism over the legitimacy of interim U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan's appointment by AG Pam Bondi. Bondi has full authority to appoint anyone who meets the U.S. attorney qualifications. This is pathetic, the left has destroyed our judicial system. Later, the Democrats are potentially poised for another government shutdown opportunity in January, targeting airline services, TSA, FAA, and military funding to inflict pain on Americans again. These routine continuing resolutions might become quarterly battles because of the Democrats. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

This week on the Mark Levin Show, the Democrat Party government shutdown is the best evidence why the government should never, for example, take over our healthcare system. It's not controlled by Democrat politicians (senators) abusing the filibuster rule to blackmail the country and do as much damage to the economy as possible to further government control of the economy and leftwing political agendas. Also, the U.S. air traffic control system and TSA should be privatized. It's unacceptable that our air traffic could come to a halt because air traffic controllers wouldn't show up for work during the shutdown. The Democratic Party is being internally devoured by Marxism and Islamism, ideologies foreign to America's founding principles. These forces, power-hungry and seeking centralized control, mask their hatred for the country as righteousness, liberation, equality, and affordability, while spreading rapidly and replacing the party's base and leadership. In response, a fascistic reaction emerges on the radical right by grifters like podcasters and influencers who gain fame and wealth promoting it. Both Marxists and fascists seek to destroy American institutions—the former to replace them, the latter claiming they fail—leading to dwindling support for the Declaration, Constitution, and founders. The Republican Party resists this fascistic right, albeit insufficiently, whereas the Democratic Party, having unleashed and failed to control these forces, is now becoming the Marxist left. In chapter two of "American Marxism," titled "Breeding Mobs," it explains how mass movements devour individual identity and uniqueness, rendering people indistinguishable while assigning group identities based on race, age, or income to foster class distinctions and divisions. These movements attract disenchanted, disaffected, and maladjusted individuals who blame external factors like the system or others for their conditions, lured by utopian promises and criticisms of society, where improving their lot ties to the cause and disparaging the successful becomes a tactic to instill meaning and self-worth. Ultimately, these movements rely on deceit, propaganda, intimidation, and force, leading to scapegoating, violence, and totalitarianism. Just think of figures like Bernie Sanders, AOC, Nick Fuentes, Steve Bannon, Alex Jones, Tucker Carlson, and their supporters. Later, the U.S. healthcare system is the world's best, but some sort of health savings accounts that put more money in people's pockets, enabling them to choose and pay for their own healthcare premiums would be a great idea. Afterward, Gov Gavin Newsom's former chief of staff was indicted on 23 federal counts including conspiracy to commit bank and wire fraud. Learn more about your ad choices. Washington just lived through a “Seinfeld shutdown”—a 43-day government closure over… basically nothing. Or was it nothing? This week, Ron Steslow is joined by Peter Suderman (features editor at Reason and host of the Reason Roundtable) to unpack the weirdest shutdown in modern memory and the deeply broken healthcare system underneath it. They dig into why Democrats picked this fight, why they folded even while winning the blame game, and what it says about Obamacare that it now needs emergency subsidies for the emergency subsidies. Then, from World War II wage controls to Hillarycare to the ACA, Peter walks through how America accidentally built three-and-a-half overlapping healthcare systems—and why both parties are in denial about the bill coming due.    In Politicology+ they dive into the battle between the Abundance Agenda and the ascendent socialism on the left Not yet a Politicology+ member? The US President has said he will begin legal action against the BBC within the next few days after receiving an apology but no financial compensation over a misleading edit in a documentary about him. Lawyers representing Donald Trump had asked for a retraction, an apology and a payout after it was revealed that his speech at a rally on 6th January 2021, the day of the Capitol riots, was edited to give the impression he'd made a direct call for violence.
