We've been talking a lot about colors recently, and I, for one, am pretty excited about that! It's such an important component in your wardrobe, but it's not the only factor to keep in mind when choosing your clothing and accessories. In fact, sometimes, your best colors can be a deterrent when it comes to building a wardrobe you love. Say what now? Well, we know most color analysts only consider your personal coloring when putting together their recommendations for your best hues, so what do you do if your palette doesn't align with your personal style or preferences? Should you throw your tastes out the window and prioritize your most flattering colors over the aesthetics that light you up? Our friend, Lisa, submitted a question on this exact challenge recently. The short answer is: You do NOT need to compromise your personal taste for your personal colors. There is a way to have both. In today's episode, I'm offering up a ton of advice to help you align the colors that look best on you with the styles you like to wear most. Are you feeling confused by your personal color palette? This is a problem I hear about far too often. There are quite a few reasons this can happen, which I've already spoken about at length in episode #3 of HER Style Podcast, Why Your Color Season Doesn't Matter and What You Want To Know Instead. But it's not an issue I see going away anytime soon. Personal color palettes are trending big time and franchises like House of Colour are dominating the industry. I love that women are wanting to learn about their best colors, but what do we do when the services meant to empower us end up leaving us more confused than we were before? I hear from women all the time who have had 2 and 3 color analyses done and been assigned a different seasonal type each time. Others feel pushed into wearing bold colors that don't resonate with their neutral preferences. So what should you do? In today's episode, I'm sharing exactly how to navigate your personal color palette, or more specifically, differences between your color palettes, so you can wear your best colors with clarity and confidence. If you've invested in a seasonal color analysis and ended up more confused than before, this episode is for you, my friend. Let's do this! I think sometimes with the media we are set up to think we will have the one "end all / be all / bff" friend that will fulfill all our bestie needs. But that's just a lot of pressure and expectation to put on someone. I like to see my relationships like a color palette - I want allllll the colors. The yellows which are the girls I just go to the nail salon with and talk about the Bachelor. Passionate reds who are chasing their career dreams and can gas me up and inspire me to go for my goals. Deep blues for when I'm going through something hard and need to process it with their wisdom. Light pinks which are maybe my neighbors who I walk to the Sunday farmer's market with and talk about whatever. Some people can carry multiple colors but ultimately, just like in marriage, I can't expect one to meet all my needs. For this topic I bring in a multi-color friend of mine, Tess Roy, and we talk about how the nuances of this topic like... Is it easy or difficult for you to make friends? How do you personally handle when someone wants to commit to a deeper friendship but you're either not interested, or can't meet them where they're at? Who is one great friend you've had in your life and what made them special? I hope after you listen you leave with a new appreciation for some relationships in your life.

Today's Q&A Thursday episode feels very special, not only because we're talking about maternity wear just days before Mother's Day, but because I received two nearly identical questions from two different podcast listeners on this topic! Our friends, Amber and Molly, both reached out to me recently to say they're both starting to try for baby #1 and wondering how to revamp their wardrobes strategically for pregnancy and postpartum. How amazing is that? First, I want to say how excited I am for you both! This is such a special time in your lives and I'm going to be praying for each of you that it happens simply and joyfully! And I also want to empathize with anyone who has been struggling to conceive. My husband and I faced a lot of ups and downs on our journey to become parents. It took us 10 years to have our son, Grey, although it did happen naturally… just much later than we had originally planned. You can hear all about that story in episode 33: How Infertility and Motherhood Rocked My World and Reshaped My Wardrobe. I think it's a very encouraging one that will bring you hope and comfort, especially if your road to parenthood has been rocky like ours was. But today, I'm going to solve Amber, Molly, and maybe YOUR challenge, of how to revamp your wardrobe during major life and body changes, like pregnancy. I know you want to look stylish and you're feeling inspired to tackle your closet, but you know you're going to be growing and shrinking, and shifting, and your whole life is about to change. So how do you plan accordingly? Stick around and I'll walk you through what to wear when you're expecting and beyond! Oh friend, I have a treat for you today. My client, Michelle Hadley, is an incredible single mama and social media influencer who went through a season of feeling like she lost a piece of herself. Earlier this year, she reached out to me for help and it was a JOY to not only create a custom Personal Color Palette for her, but for her daughter, Evy, as well. Michelle sent me the kindest audio testimonial several weeks ago and made a comment in her email that there was so much more she would've loved to say. So I decided to invite Michelle onto the show to share all about her experience! This is a first. I've had personal styling clients and members of HER Style Collective on before, but I've never interviewed a Personal Color Palette client on HER Style Podcast. So this is long overdue. And it comes at the perfect time, because for the next week, I'm running a Spring Special where when you invest in one Personal Color Palette, you can gift another one to a family member or friend for 50% OFF! Yep! It's buy 1, get 1 half off for a very limited-time until this Sunday, May 12, 2024 at midnight EST. My Personal Color Palette service is an amazing experience to share with your mom, your daughter, your best friend, your sister, whoever you want to celebrate your beauty and colors with this spring! It's a fabulous gift to give or to ask for this Mother's Day season, regardless of whether you're a mom with young kids, adult kids, if you're a mom in waiting or a mom who has suffered a loss. I know this can be a really bittersweet season for so many and I also know that surrounding yourself with your best colors can bring an unexpected amount of joy and confidence into your life. I also want you to understand exactly what's possible from making this investment in yourself. So no matter where you are on your style journey or this season of life, I know you are going to resonate with at least one aspect of Michelle's powerful story and be inspired by what she's overcome and the steps she's taken to reclaim who she is. Creating a cohesive flow throughout your home starts by choosing a color palette that can flow seamlessly room to room! If you are wondering why your home doesn't look cohesive...check your color palette. Then, check other things too, like repetition of design elements, layers, etc (you can find ALL of that inside HOME DESIGN 101). In this episode I am sharing the most basic way you can create a color palette to use as a foundational backdrop for creating a cohesive home. Plugging your palette into a formula and checking that formula for general accuracy, as well as items that could negate (or bully) your palette will help 'fact check' how your formula is performing for you in your home. I'm not gonna lie everyone, I've given this AI "summary" program quite a few tries the past few weeks and it's been total ass, so I'm just gonna say enjoy this fantastic conversation with Nick Matthews, the DP off "Saw X". I absolutely adored this conversation, he's a fantastic DP and a wonderful man, and it was a privilege to talk to him. --- NOW, a little inside baseball... I've been emailed too many times from this "podcast assistant" company about giving advice to them... so now having used their product (that I paid for) you tell me what you think of their work. Here we go: "Listen in as I'm joined by the talented Nick Matthews, the Director of Photography for Song X, as we journey through the evolution of camera technology in filmmaking. From the days of traditional tube cameras to the digital cinema revolution, we reminisce on the progression and reminisce on the good old days of stacking ND filters and metal tubes. As technology continues to evolve, we share our insights on how filmmakers are becoming more camera agnostic and how to maximize resources even with limited budgets. We continue our engaging conversation by sharing our experiences on transitioning from non-union to union work, discussing the nuances of false color and the unique approaches for DPs. Gearheads will love our chat about the gear I use and how I prove to people they'll love the results. We also fondly look back at the Nycore lenses and the T2i camera, which I bought as a hipster. We then move on to the essential aspects of workflow in shooting a scene, lens selection, and how a c500 can simplify the process. As we conclude our discussion, Nick and I explore the exciting world of film lighting and color palette. From discussing the challenges of incorporating glamorization techniques into cinematography to creating a unique color palette for films like Saw X, we touch on various aspects that go into creating a compelling visual narrative. We even discuss the emerging Chinese lenses in the market and the challenges of working with international crews. Lastly, we share our experiences in color grading, the importance of hiring a colorist whose vision aligns with yours, and how to build a successful filmmaking career." Again, I do this all for free, I've yet to recieve a cent for this show, so if one of you wants to be the first, you can support the show at www.buymeacoffee.com/FrameAndRefPod I very much appreciate it, and going forward we won't be using this AI nonsense. I preach about the importance of color a lot. But my eyes still go wide at the thought of this statistic: Up to 90% of someone's gut reaction about you (and your business, if you have one) is based on COLOR ALONE. Think about the impact this can have on every area of your life, like signing new clients, attracting the right partner, making friends as an adult… the list goes on. If you're not 100% sure you're utilizing the BEST colors in your wardrobe or personal branding, I'm here to help. I've studied the psychology of color for well over a decade. Today, I'm sharing 5 essential points to consider when choosing the right color palette for your business. If you're not an entrepreneur, that's not a problem! With a few adjustments, these tips can guide you in picking the perfect color palette for your next seasonal capsule wardrobe as well. I'll walk you through everything you need to know to do this confidently and effectively.
