In this spiritual discourse, the speaker engages the idea of being complacent in one's faith, challenging the listeners to awaken from any spiritual lethargy. Referring to Amos 6 in the scriptures, he notes a great problem observed by God, where believers can become complacent or 'at ease'. Consequentially, such believers are described as having become spiritually 'asleep'. The speaker urges the listeners to reflect on their spiritual state, and to actively serve within their local churches, viewing themselves as integral parts of the larger, universal Church. He ends with a prayer for forgiveness and action, urging listeners to share the message. 00:00 Introduction and Greetings 00:33 The Universal Church and Local Churches 01:23 Reflections on the Song 'I Gave My Life for Thee' 02:08 Is Your Church a Sleeping Church? 02:33 Identifying the Great Problem in the Church 04:41 The Complacency of God's People 06:27 The Current World Situation and the Church's Role 08:53 Characteristics of a Sleeping Church 09:16 Closing Prayer and Encouragement 09:48 Final Remarks and Call to Action --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/gnbc/message
Amid unfolding border developments, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has reaffirmed his intent to stand strong in his efforts to fortify the state's southern frontier. The U.S. Supreme Court earlier sided with the Biden administration, allowing the defacement of the razor wire barricades erected by Texas to curb unauthorized border crossings. In executing his dedication to border security, Governor Abbott approved the installation of about 30 miles of razor wire along the state's southern perimeter. The decision came as a practical response to the growing number of undocumented immigrants attempting to make their way into Texan territory. However, the United States Border Patrol repeatedly intervened, creating openings in the wire fence to allow undocumented immigrants access into the country. This action led Texas to lodge a legal dispute against the prevailing Biden administration; the state claimed federal officials had caused property damage and unauthorized trespassing. In the high-profile face-off between Texas and the federal government, NBC News reported Monday's close Supreme Court ruling in favor of the latter. In a taut 5-4 decision, the Justices approved an urgent appeal from the Biden administration. They granted federal agents the license to create breaches in the razor fence, given their argument that the impediment restricted their reach to undocumented immigrants who had made it across the border. Governor Abbott, undeterred by the Supreme Court's decision, voiced his unwavering commitment to the cause. His rhetorical stand: 'This is not over.' He underlined that the razor wire deterrent contributed to countering the Biden administration's perceived encouragement of illegal border crossings. Abbott pledged to persistently uphold Texas' constitutional right to guard its border and safeguard its property against federal interventions. Alongside Governor Abbott's tenacious statement, the Texas Department of Public Safety's spokesman Chris Olivarez reiterated the state's dedication to implementing advanced tactics such as 'reinforced concertina wire & anti-climb barriers.' In their enduring commitment to curb the inflow of undocumented immigrants, Texas officials remain steadfast. Under Governor Abbott's Operation Lone Star, Texas upholds its security posture. Olivarez pointed out the continuing use of integrated border security measures— reinforced concertina wire and anti-climb barriers along the Rio Grande—as an effective deterring strategy against unlawful border crossings. The spokesperson raised a consequential issue—isn't the real concern the Federal Government's continual obstruction of Texas' efforts to conduct border protection? Furthermore, the acceptance of exploitative, perilous, and inhumane methods enabling illegal immigrants, including minors, to traverse a hazardous river where many have previously perished raises further questions. Texas, standing distinct in its substantial and determined efforts, utilizes every strategy and resource at its disposal to ensure its sovereignty, tackle illicit activities, and deter undocumented immigration. The State has pledged to 'hold the line,' adapting and responding to the changing dynamics at the border. The Supreme Court's ruling witnessed Republican Justices John Roberts and Amy Coney Barrett vote alongside the court's three liberals. However, this 5-4 decision does not represent a conclusive judgment but merely provides an interim solution. Consequentially, federal agents may cut through the concertina wire during the ongoing litigation process. Despite the Supreme Court's decision, legal dynamics are still in flux—the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals has yet to come down with a definitive ruling on the case, and oral arguments are set for February 7. Three tumultuous years into President Biden's term, staggering numbers have emerged. Customs and Border Protection agents have encountered approximately eight million undocumented immigrants attempting to cross the border into the United States without lawful permission. Moreover, surpassing a disturbing milestone, the federal government has authorized the release of over 2.3 million undocumented immigrants into the American heartland—a move that underscores the country's intricate border situation. These historic numbers accentuate the extent to which the border crisis is testing both the federal government and states like Texas. As debates over border security mechanisms grow heated in the face of the Supreme Court ruling, the focus is now shifting to the pending ruling from the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. While the unfolding saga of Texas' renewed approach towards border security marks one chapter in this broader story, it is crucial to note that states, irrespective of the current federal administration views, have a constitutional right, and indeed a public obligation, to uphold the security and wellbeing of their residents. In conclusion, as the immigration debate rages on, the actions of states like Texas remind us of the complexities inherent in managing border issues and the stake each state has in ensuring the protection and safety of its people. The pursuit of balance between humanitarian concerns and legal obligations remains a perpetual and complex challenge. This sermon unpacks the double fulfilment of these verses. There is one area of fulfilment to be found in the destruction of the temple in 70ad. But there is also future fulfilment to be found and completed when Christ returns. There is lots going on in our world today, earthquakes, famines, wars, and rumours of wars. But these verses encourage us to not be alarmed as the end is not yet and we will not miss it. Consequentially, we should expect persecution, tribulation, and perhaps even martyrdom in this life. However, we are called to endure, stirring up our love for Jesus, and continuing to proclaim the good news of the gospel to the ends of the earth. We are also warned to beware of false messiah's that will come. They may do signs and wonders that may indicate their authenticity. But we know that when Jesus returns it will be like no other event we have ever seen or experienced. At the heart of these verses, is a call to trust only in God! For he alone is the only one we can trust and depend upon in all things.

"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things thou knowest not." Jeremiah 33:3 Don't hesitate to call on God if you feel lost or alone. If you need anything, call on God. When you have access to a functioning mobile phone, you can communicate with another person on the other end of the line. Before this technological advancement, communication was greatly restricted, especially between people in different geographical locations. Despite technological development, God has always been available for us to communicate with. God instructed us that we can reach Him by calling on Him. He said it and promised to answer when we call on Him and show us great and mighty things that we know not. If we can believe and put what technological advancements have offered us into use, why then do we neglect this great offer from God, An offer to call Him? Consequentially, we live in great ignorance and refuse to accept this factual truth. A simple proof of this is our nonchalant attitude to His fellowship. Philippians 4:6 says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." However, God has offered us a lasting solution to the ignorance problem: "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." You can know great and mighty things about your family, career, journey, and many other things about life; it is God to show you His will. Call on God and let Him show you what you don't know. Call upon Him in prayers and supplication, and let Him show you the deep secret things. Stop walking and living life in ignorance. Life is too short to be lived in ignorance. Call upon the Lord today. When you feel like you have nowhere else to turn, call on God. He is always there for you, even when it feels like everyone else has left you behind. Jeremiah 33:3 says, "Call to me, and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know." Don't be afraid to reach out to God in your time of need. He is waiting for you with open arms. God is always there for us. He wants to help us through our struggles and give us hope for the future. Amen. Psalm 50:15 says, "call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me." Amen. Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for the privilege you have given me. Lord, enable me to call on you always and help me not to live in ignorance in Jesus' name. Amen. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/pastor-divineo/support
Neo-Tantra, developed in the West, has little to do with what was taught in India. Often portrayed as shady, occult, and perverse, tantra has often been characterized and classified as “black magic”. The Kama Sutra , an ancient court textbook that was used as a guide to sexual and marital affairs, further distorted the perception of tantric practices. Consequentially, the Western public came to see tantra as being synonymous with the guidance in the Kama Sutra – particularly with its detailed descriptions of various physical positions for sexual intercourse. Even after a shift in tantric teachings occurred over time, the connection between sexuality and spirituality is what mainly fascinated the Western culture. Tantra increasingly became seen as an “ecstasy cult” with a positive attitude towards the physical body and everything worldly. This is how the term “tantra” came to be a synonym for ritual eroticism, spiritually oriented sexual practices, or sacred sexuality. However, Authentic Tantra ® is a trauma-informed holistic healing modality designed to awaken, heal, and integrate body, mind, spirit, and sex... Matsyanyaaya: The US-Australia Quantum Tech Agreement — Arjun GargeyasThe Quantum race has just heated up. November saw an official agreement between the United States and Australia on quantum technology cooperation. An official statement underlined the importance of science and technology in the information age along with the need for collaborative and transnational efforts in the pursuit of scientific discovery and societal benefit. The statement also described quantum technology, as being a critical and emerging technology that could enable the development of faster computers, secure communication networks, and more accurate sensors. This new agreement comes at a time when the global quantum ecosystem is developing across the globe with increased participation from different states. This includes the realisation of the field’s benefits with the hope of new quantum-enabled economies coming up. What does the Agreement Entail? The agreement goes into the prospects of new theoretical and practical applications of quantum technology along with the translation of credible research in the field into potential applications that would be of mutual benefit to both countries. It also emphasizes the need for joint research and development along with critical technology transfers between the two countries. There is also a focus in the agreement on building a quantum technology market with the help of the private sector and other industry bodies. The agreement is also a step towards diversifying supply chains in this field. The agreement delves into the need for improvement in the field of quantum education in both countries. Cross border education in the field can help in fast-tracking significant research in the field and can build a competent workforce for the future. The exchange of skills and development can help in the protection of intellectual property along with building safe and secure research environments. Finally, the sharp focus on quantum technology can help the two states collaborate in developing and setting technical standards that foster interoperability, innovation and transparency. Other than the objectives of the agreement, there was also a mutual decision taken between the two governments in holding the Quantum Policy Dialogue that would involve senior government officials, who are experts in quantum technologies, meeting regularly to flesh out the subsequent agendas for the cooperation agreement. This would eventually help in the identification of practical initiatives that can be taken forward by both governments. With China pursuing quantum technology, this agreement looks to be a joint effort between two technologically advanced states to counter their common adversary. The applications of quantum technology are broadening with strategic angles to the technology driving forward this focus. There is still a long way to go before computing power or stable communication networks using quantum technologies can be deployed on a large scale. But the race to achieve what is commonly known as ‘Quantum Supremacy’ has definitely begun. It is something worth watching out for. CyberPolitik #1: Can Digital Communication Networks have benefits?— Prateek WaghreThis entry is adapted from one of the sections of a forthcoming discussion document by Prateek Waghre and Sapni GK on the opportunities and benefits associated with Digital Communication Networks.Back in July, we had published a paper categorising the various kinds of harms attributed to Digital Communication Networks as potential market failures, social problems and cognitive biases. I’m including some screenshots from the tables just to give you a sense of it - for the complete tables, do look at the original document. In the course of writing that paper and a bunch of discussions during and after it on whether benefits are self-evident or not - we also realised that much of the analysis around the benefits/opportunities hadn’t really evolved much since the early/mid-2010s. Maybe we were just looking at the wrong sources… but what we found were either variations of the ‘Democratising Force’/Arab Spring angles or very specific and narrow use-cases.So we signed off saying:In subsequent work, we plan to identify the benefits that DCNs enable, assess overlaps and contradictions between proposed/enacted DCN governance measures, and explore the role of global internet governance mechanisms with the aim to define appropriate frameworks to govern DCNs.This was back in July, mind you, long before the Facebook Files/Papers/Documents sent our heads spinning. Nevertheless, as Dean Eckles points out in his testimony to the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation (on Pages 1 and 5); or as Rebekah Tromble said in this episode of the TechPolicy.Press podcast; or as Rebeca Mackinnon noted in this episode 2 of the Internet of Humans podcast - we don’t have a grasp on the benefits. So, in a forthcoming paper, we try to list out potential opportunities and benefits in the context of markets and societies. In this section, I’ll write a bit about how we approached their role in imparting social benefits. One of the things we did in the harms paper was to define the concept of Digital Communication Networks (DCNs). DCNs as composite entities consisting of:Capability: Internet-based products/services that enable instantaneous low-cost or free communication across geographic, social, and cultural boundaries. This communication may be private (1:1), limited (1:n, e.g. messaging groups), or broad (Twitter feeds, Facebook pages, YouTube videos, live streaming), and so on.Operator(s): Firms/groups that design/operate these products and services.Networks: The entities/groups/individuals that adopt/use these products and services, and their interactions with each other. And while the term may not ever catch on, its usage was deliberate. The purpose of introducing a new frame is to encourage the study of DCNs from the perspective of their effects on societies as a whole rather than a specific focus on a specific set of firms, technologies, sharing mechanisms, user dynamics, and so on. In the context of societies, we tried to focus on the role of capabilities and networks, and not the firms themselves - though, it isn’t possible to always ignore them.First, we had to try and visualise what societies look like. When attempting something like this, there will always be layers of abstraction - and no model (no matter how good) can perfectly capture systems as complex as modern societies. Nevertheless, we found that the model that Christian Fuchs and Daniel Trottier propose in Social Media, Politics and the State could be a useful one. Some key points from it:It contains the following subsystems: overlapping state and economic spheres, a cultural sphere, and a civil sphere that mediates the cultural and overlapping state and economic spheres. The civil sphere is composed of socio-political, socio-economic, and socio-cultural movements. These movements are struggles for different ends by various social roles within the subsystems. The Movements are:Socio-political: For the “recognition of collective identities via demands on the state.”Socio-economic: For the “production and distribution of material resources created and distributed in the economic system.”Socio-cultural: Have “shared interests and practices relat[ed] to ways of organising one’s private life.”The Roles:Trottier and Fuchs use the tripleC framework to explain that DCNs allow actors to perform tasks of creation (cognition), share them with others who can respond (communication), and modify them (cooperation) in an integrated manner, and that they can all occur in the same social space (capability built by DCN operators). Then, building on this model, we identify five types of actions that DCNs enable. Note that these are not mutually exclusive. And, in most cases, they overlap. We had to use a non-exhaustive set of examples in the paper to show where DCNs played a role in minimising harms or enabling benefits through a combination of one or more of these actions, since many of these effects could not be quantified.Information Production/Consumption: Low entry costs and capabilities for users to generate and share content enable participation in DCN Networks at scale. Under this action, we refer narrowly to the ability to transmit information or receive information.Interaction: Interaction involves receiving and then responding to information. This can manifest itself in various ways. It can mean mutual communication between two or more actors belonging to any of the societal subsystems. This communication can also be directed at a completely different set of actors and may or may not include the original set of actors. Responses need not be limited to communication / sharing on DCN networks but can also include actions taken off them such as physical actions, internalising information, or any of the five kinds of actions identified in this section.Identity Formation/Expression: Identity formation and expression are complex processes. User profile-centric DCN services provide a natural home for the performance of identity, which itself can lead to the accumulation of social capital. Identities also evolve as actors across the subsystems consume information, interact with information and other actors across DCN networks. These identities (individual or collective) may then be further expressed using DCN capabilities and features.Organisation: A combination of DCN capabilities and networks reduces barriers for groups of people to cooperate and act towards achieving common or similar goals. They can also aid the scaling phase of self-organising or spontaneous movements. It should be noted that the mere existence of DCN capabilities and networks is not sufficient. The networks also need to include motivated actors with incentives to do so.Financial Transactions: In this context, we refer to transactions where DCNs play a connective role, and not where the DCN operators are themselves a party to the financial transaction (ad revenue sharing, creator pay-outs, create their own tokens, news partnerships, funds for research and civil society organisations, and so on).We don’t have a link yet but we’ll include one in the edition right after the document is published. In the meanwhile, if you want to talk to me about it / see a draft - you can reach out via Twitter DMs (@prateekwaghre) or email me ( AT takshashila.org.inIf you like the content of this newsletter consider signing up for our Post-Graduate Programme in Public Policy (PGP). Setting up one fab manufacturing facility won’t significantly reduce India’s strategic vulnerability in the domain. There is a clear need for a shift in the government approach and a change in mindset at the highest decision-making level to improve India’s position in the entire semiconductor ecosystem. Looking at the experiences of other leading countries in the domain, the time taken to build robust domestic semiconductor industries remains a marathon process. A similar strategy needs to be envisioned for India right now. First, India needs one 20-year semiconductor roadmap. This needs to begin with an audit of the chips that form the core of key defence equipment and critical infrastructure. Once this vulnerability assessment is done, the government needs to ensure that over time, such equipment should have chips produced end-to-end within the trusted semiconductor ecosystem. Second, the 20-year roadmap needs a 20-year financial support plan. The roadmap needs to sequence semiconductor initiatives depending on the government’s financial wherewithal. For instance, focusing on getting a leading Taiwanese or South Korean ATMP player to India could be considered immediately, at a lower opportunity cost. Co-investing in a chip production unit at a trailing-edge, speciality chip fabrication unit could then be the next big step for the government. Concurrently, the government can focus on funding new semiconductor materials research, new design architectures for critical equipment, intellectual property protection, and technical standards. Over a two-decade period, this could well give the confidence to global investors to co-invest in a leading-edge fab here. Three, plurilateral strategic cooperation on semiconductors is a necessity for India, not a choice. The Quad Semiconductor Supply Chain Initiative, announced in the first in-person leadership summit meeting in September 2021, is a good starting point. India now needs to push for a Quad Supply Chain Resilience Fund with the goal of ensuring redundancy in this supply chain to immunise it from geopolitical and geographic risks. For instance, while the US focuses on restarting manufacturing at leading-edge nodes (5 nanometres and below), the group should be able to fund specialised analog, memory fabs operating at trailing-edge nodes (45 nanometres and above) in India, Japan or Australia. Over time, this initiative can coalesce other major semiconductor powers such as Taiwan, South Korea, the EU, and Israel.Fourth, favourable trade policies are critical for building a plurilateral semiconductor ecosystem. Over the past few years, the union government has been increasing import duties using the rhetoric of Aatmanirbharta. Such policies have major implications on the semiconductor industry globally. For example, even Taiwan, which produces over fifty per cent of contract manufactured chips needs specialised equipment that needs to be imported. Unsurprisingly, a reduction in tariffs was reportedly a major issue of contention in talks between India and Taiwan over a semiconductor collaboration earlier this year. Similarly, considering the nascent domestic market for semiconductor chipsets, foreign entities manufacturing chips in India will primarily be exporting their products. In essence, a fab in India will still be deeply connected with the world — buying equipment from some countries and selling chips to others. Finally, the 20-year roadmap needs a robust infrastructure plan. Significant quantities of reliable water and electricity supplies are non-negotiable requirements for fabs. It is not possible to meet these specialised requirements all across the country. Fabs will be clustered in a few states that have the risk appetite to get into this sector. Hence, it’s important that the union government works with interested state governments to build the necessary infrastructure.CyberPolitik #2: Norms for AI - UNESCO’s Recommendations— Sapni G KThe 41st General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) concluded on 24 November 2021 with a major step on the global development of norms on the use and regulation of Artificial Intelligence (AI). 193 member states of UNESCO signed and adopted the draft AI Ethics Recommendation. It can be touted as the first globally accepted normative standard-setting instrument in the realm of AI. The voluntary, non-binding commitment is a major point of cooperation in identifying principles of ethics in the regulation of AI systems. This is one step further in conversations that presume the inevitability of AI systems’ involvement in decision making. Consequentially, it could be a first in outlining the foundations of global AI governance. Given the encouragement for multilateral and intercultural efforts, these recommendations appear to be a good starting point for engaging further in the discussions for rulemaking and governance. The structure of the document, dividing the recommendations into values and policy actions facilitates the same.Values and Value-based PolicyIn addition to furthering UNESCO’s longstanding values, the recommendation also suggests policy actions to translate these principles into globally accepted normative standards. It calls for establishing compliance mechanisms to ensure human rights and rule of law are upheld, in consonance with the constitutional provisions of the signatories. It urges the signatories to incorporate ethical impact assessments as part of operationalising AI systems. It nudges states to include a transversal gender impact assessment as part of such ethical impact assessments, which is a welcome suggestion that is seldom raised in conventional conversations around AI ethics. As recommendations spanning the field of AI systems and applications, future policies on the regulation on AI in various specific scenarios, including DCNs, military, and welfare applications can draw from these recommendations.Geopolitical SignificanceBarring China, there is little broad-based regulation of AI that can affect a sizeable population of the world. The United States of America is not a member of UNESCO, which leaves it outside the list of signatories to the recommendation. The European Union’s proposed AI Act hopes to set the norm, repeating the feat achieved by the General Data Protection Regulation in 2017. The new recommendation could be reflected in the path that the AI Act chooses, essentially becoming the normative standard for decades to come. As far as India is concerned, being a passive observer of these developments might not augur well for establishing its interests in the regulation of emerging technologies. Our Reading Menu[Paper] International Cooperation in Space Activities amid Great Power Competition by Ludmila V. One of the main reasons there is so much division and fighting these days is because there is an information war in full swing. And whether it is known or not, mainstream platforms are engaged in full-blown propaganda. Consequentially, we are in the midst of a very dangerous mass brainwashing like we've never seen before. Trust and belief in legitimized pro-jab disinformation are at the root of the fighting and the complete loss of our true spiritual nature is causing people to fall victim to indoctrination. Thanks for joining me back here. Once again my name is Brett Spangler, and today we have a bunch of different stories again. Some smaller ones mostly smaller ones. We have a lot of covid stuff. We have a lot more Biden policy issues because he did his first national interview with Norah O'Donnell last Friday and we revisit a story that we did about a month ago about the flu in just the flu season the flu numbers for this year kind of interesting. Well i mean it has to be otherwise. I wouldn't waste your time with it so in any case. Let's jump right back into it. NFL commissioner roger. Goodell wrote a letter to President Joe Biden last week. He offered to President. Joe Biden to use every NFL stadium as a possible mass vaccination. This means that there are thirty. Nfl sites that would be up for grabs now. You might be thinking. Well, wait a second, there are 32 NFL teams but only 30 stadiums. Well, the thing is the jets and the giants share one as do the Los Angeles Rams in Los Angeles Chargers. Some of these are actually already open. They have one in Phoenix for the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta, Baltimore, the Carolina Panthers' stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, , Houston, and Miami New England (which is actually Foxborough, Massachusetts). Speaking of the NFL, the super bowl was yesterday and there were about twenty five thousand fans in attendance. Probably about a third of the usual number. That would be there. And as sort of a tribute to healthcare workers there were seventy five hundred completely vaccinated healthcare workers who showed up as part of that crowd. I saw a lot of chatter on twitter about it's not really honoring healthcare workers if you're creating like a superspreader event and you know i'm not sure how i feel about that. Honestly one thing to keep in mind. Is that the empty seats. They had a bunch of cardboard cutout people. So if you thought it looked packed it really wasn't necessarily as packed as it was looking also. The stadium is outdoors and as we know. Transmission outdoors is nearly well. I wouldn't go that far but it's pretty safe. That said the chances are pretty good. That people were still waiting in line for concessions. Maybe they didn't offer am. I didn't see that or somewhere. Outside of the seats. They were probably in closer. Groups are closer proximity than they were in the stands. And that's kind of what i worry about. But i dunno moving onto other good vaccination news pfizer says that it's been analyzing how they've been making the covid vaccine and they found a number of different ways to improve so that they can make their manufacturing process even quicker. The improvements that they've found should take the manufacturing time from about one hundred and ten days per batch to about sixty days per bench. And that's nearly cutting it in half. That is pretty impressive. The president of the Immunization Policy and Knowledge Translation consulting firm said that “Nobody’s ever produced mRNA vaccines at this scale, so you can bet your bottom dollar the manufacturers are learning as they go. I bet you every day they run into some vaccine challenge and every day they solve it, and that goes into their playbook.”Some of these improvements include faster quality control and testing, adding manufacturing lines in the three plants where the vaccines are made, and speeding up the time it takes to make the DNA from 16 days down to about 9 or 10 days. As of this morning at 9AM eastern time, there have been 42 million COVID vaccines administered (so actually in people's arms), and there have been 59 million distributed. So over the weekend, the Biden administration announced that it is withdrawing the US from agreements with three Central American countries: El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. These agreements required a lot of people who are trying to get asylum at the US- Mexico border to actually go to these countries and apply there for some reason. Reading here from the Bloomberg article that I found that Secretary of State Tony Blinken said the administration “intends to work with the Central American nations to reduce some of the insecurity and poverty that cause people to flee in the first place while maintaining the security of the U.S. border.”Trump also started using COVID as an excuse to deport almost everyone who came to the border. In other immigrations news, Biden also set up a task force to help reunite families that were separated as a result of Trump’s family separation policy. There was some news about this last week, but it became official over the weekend: Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has signed a memo that directs his commanding officers and supervisors to do a one-day standdown sometime within the next sixty days to try to address the extremism that we're just finding out about or that we are confirming is going on in the armed forces. This means that on that particular day whatever day they choose, these leaders will have to lead discussions on the importance of our oath of office. A description of impermissible behaviors and procedures for reporting suspected or actual extremist behaviors”. Lloyd said in the memo that this training is just the first step in “what I believe must be a concerted effort to better educate ourselves and our people about the scope of this problem and to develop sustainable ways to eliminate the corrosive effects that extremist ideology and conduct have on the workforce.” A recent study that was done by NPR found that nearly one in five people who have been charged in the Capit0ol Insurrection had some type of military history. This goes along with a two thousand nineteen survey that the military times conducted where they found that thirty six percent of active duty. Readers had seen quote evidence of white supremacist and racist ideologies in the military in just one year before in two thousand eighteen. That same number was only twenty two percent which is still ridiculously high. So now we have over a third in. That was like two years ago. Yeah i think this is gonna take more than one day just a really short follow up story here about our story on fox news getting sued from Friday years a sign that maybe i was right in that fox news wasn't actually that proud of their reporting about the 2020 election: on Friday night, Fox Business cancelled the show Lou Dobbs Tonight, which is actually the biggest show on their network into fuel. Remember Lou Dobbs was one of the three hosts that was named in that lawsuit and they still could be far from over for these people who are still lying about the election. Because listen to what this dominion spokesperson. The Dominion voting machine company. What he said that we should expect next from his company. Can you give us a preview of when the next lawsuits Dominion. We'll be filed. I'm not here to make news on that front but let me say this. Mike lindell is begging to be sued and at some point we may well oblige him. So here's the remaining scoop. On some other Biden administration policies. Here are a couple of videos about Biden talking about the urge and the need to pass the stimulus package relatively quickly purply. That's in fact we're going to be in a situation where a long long time and Appreciate y'all truman. Over because urgency mature movement. this about people's lives. this is not just about people's lives people. Are i tell any of. You are really hurting people of victims. Just look at all the number people who needed sneaky mental health services now. Suicides up people are really really drug abuse against when people are really feeling the whole on how to get out you give them a lot of hope. Hope the as they. So they're deliver the grace of god and goodwill encrypt not rise. We can really begin to do something. Consequentially so i wanna thank you all and but i you know president president bobby put me in charge of recovery act and it was hard as hell get the votes for to begin with and it was hard as hell getting a number retired but one thing we learned. Is you know we can't do too much. We can do to little do to sputter but again the end result is not just a macroeconomic impact on the economy and our ability to compete internationally. People's lives real live. People are hurting and we can fix. We can fix it. The irony of all ideas is when we held them. We are also helping our competitive capacity through the remainder of this decade. And it's real. It's got a chance to do something here. And i thank you for for last night yesterday much. You're going to be doing recovery. Act and i can hardly wait to sit down with. Putin defies not work on infrastructure. To thank you all for being here. Thank you for Trump hand. I know some in congress think we've already done enough to deal with the crisis in the country.00:10:04 - 00:15:04 Others think that things are getting better and we can afford to sit back neither do little or do nothing at all. That's not what i see. I see enormous pain in this country. A lot of folks out of work a lot of folks going hungry staring at the ceiling tonight wondering what am i going to do tomorrow. A lot of folks trying to figure out how to keep their jobs and take care of their children. A lot of folks reaching the breaking point suicides are up. Mental health needs increasing violence against women and children's increasing. A lot of folks are losing hope. And i believe the American people are looking right now to their government for help to do our job to not let them down. So i'm going to act and i'm going to act fast. I'd like to be. I like to be doing it. With the support of republicans. Republicans some really fine people want to get something done. But they're just not willing to go as far as we have to go. I've told both republicans and democrats. That's my preference to work together. But if i have to choose between getting help right now to Americans who are hurting so badly and getting drier bogged down negotiation or compromise on a bill. That's that's up to the crisis this an easy choice. I'm going to help. The American people are hurting. Now that's why. I'm so grateful to the house and the senate for moving so fast on the American rescue plan in Friday spoke about that budget resolution that passed africa harris. Broke the tie. So let's just hear that call as our fifty. The nays are fifty. The senate being equally divided the vice-president votes in the affirmative and the concurrent resolution as amended is adopted. That is going to be fun to hear for at least the next two years. Then we have press secretary. Jen psaki not taking any bs from fox. News reporter let the thousands of fossil fuel industry workers whether it's pipeline workers or construction workers who are either work or will soon be out of work because by e when it is and where it is that they can go for their green job and that is something the administration has promised. There is now a so. I'm just curious when happens when those people well it certainly welcome you to present your data of all the thousands and thousands of people who won't be getting a green job. Maybe next time you're here you can present. That would be getting green jobs. So i'm just asking when that happened. Richard Trumka who is a friend longtime friend of Joe Biden says about that day one eastone. He says i wish he. The president has paired that. Were carefully with the thing that he did. second by saying. Here's where we are creating jobs. So there's partial evidence from Richard trumka. Well you didn't include all of his interview. Would you like to include. How about this. The international union of North America said the keystone decision will cost one thousand existing union jobs and ten thousand projected construction jobs. Well what mr Trump. Also indicated in the same interview was that president Biden has proposed a climate plan with transformative investments and infrastructure and laid out a plan that will not only create millions of good union jobs but also helped tackle the climate crisis. That guy was peter doocy from fox news and i always hate his questions because he takes four ever to get to the point he just beats around the bush because his conscience is fighting him the whole time and at least that's what it seems like. It's like that tiny little part of them that still has morals and ethics is trying to tell him. He's being deceiving and a bad journalist. But pete here just wants at fox news money one of the more unexpected Biden policies. I would say. Just because. I never thought he would actually do. It is that he announced on Friday. That Trump wouldn't be eligible to receive intelligence briefings anymore. This is the first time that a former president has been cut out of these briefings. But we've never truly had a president Trump, have we? Biden explained in that norah o'donnell interview saying quote. I just think that there's no need for him. To have the intelligence briefings. What value is giving him. An intelligence briefing. What impact does he have at all other than the fact that he might slip and say something and he also said that has shown quote erratic behavior. Well that certainly the polite way to say that. He's been acting crazy honestly if he didn't read them well he was president. Why should he get them now. I mean the way. I imagine it. They practically had to create puppet shows and plays to get him the information that was in those briefings like they probably had to act it out for him. The man doesn't or possibly can't read so the story here as promised is about the flus really bad year sir remember. 00:15:04 - 00:21:26 I talked a couple weeks ago. About how bad well not. How bad how good for us it was that. This year's flu season is almost nonexistent. In that was in new york city as it turns out that sort of the case. Globally this reporting from the atlantic followed a doctor from the mayo clinic in rochester minnesota. And they just sort of talked it over with them. What they're seeing in. Why we might be seeing this really good flu season for us. He said on december first that they began testing all patients with respiratory symptoms for covert and the flu so thousands and thousands of these tests have turned up positive for covid but out of the twenty thousand flu tests that they've run which is ten times. The usual number zero have come back positive for the flu since early fall. Eight hundred thousand flu tests in the. Us have been done and only fifteen hundred have been positive. That's point two percent for context. That's about one hundred times so last year. We had a hundred times more cases at this time when we had done. Eight hundred thousand tests back then. The flu positivity rate was anywhere between twenty and thirty percent twenty and thirty percent a lot of other respiratory viruses have disappeared as well well disappeared in quotes because they're still out there somewhere including ones for the common cold. Obviously, the reason for this is the number of restrictions and precautions that we've had to put in place social distancing masks, etc and all of that help because the regular flu and COVID spread in pretty much the same ways however covert spreads more easily because it can be passed on by people who don't even have symptoms. For example, just look at all these super spreader events. That didn't happen before. It's not like if you went to the movie theater and just anyone had the flu. You all suddenly got the flu. There are also differences at the macroscopic level. Like how it sticks to the particles that we exhale when we breathe or talk like COVID sticks more easily so is easier to transmit of course doctors have some problems with all of this for one our bodies might start to sort of forget the flu, meaning that they won't be able to produce the right or enough antibodies to fight it off as effectively before. Although, I imagine if you got your flu shot this year. Probably in pretty good shape second. It makes it harder for the world health organization to recommend the right ingredients for the flu vaccine. For next year. I had always heard that it was like some crazy long process in that it took like a year to make them and they had to start planning a year in advance but this article finally went into detail about how the flu vaccine is made so the. Who meets twice a year to recommend vaccine ingredients to countries in the northern and southern hemispheres. There's one meeting for each sensor winters. Take place at opposite times and actually the northern hemisphere later this month when that happens the WHO recommends what to put in the vaccine based on the data that they've collected from the flu samples from all around the world from that data. They pick out which flows are causing the most trouble. And that's why it'll be tougher this year with fewer flu cases. There's also less data, so they have to guess more than they usually would on which flows will be around this winter now. The reason that they have to start doing this now in so early is that flu vaccines usually take about six months to make. However, this new technology that we're using for covid vaccines could make a huge difference with flu vaccines in just the very near future. A lot of companies are already studying this since the mr can be switched out pretty quickly and they can adjust though probably be able to make flu vaccines in just a few weeks once able to focus on that instead of covid so that would be pretty interesting now. The doctors did emphasize that. We're not just done with the flu. It is still out there and people and maybe people just aren't getting tested because they're always at home but still that's one silver lining. I can't imagine like residents’ homes if we had both at the same time because they struggle with flu anyways man. We dodged a bullet there. All right folks. that's gonna do for me here today for the news. Just remember no show tomorrow back on Wednesday and then back on Friday. Then it'll be our new schedule but if you wanna leave some feedback about quick news daily and what I can do to improve. There is still that linked to the form in the episode descriptions. You can fill out that google form and let me know what you think contributors to the show also have a direct line to me and speaking of which. Let's thank those contributors. We have our producer. Abstract: Proteases are among the largest protein families in eukaryotic phylae with more than 500 genetically encoded proteases in humans. By cleaving a wide range of target proteins, proteases are critical regulators of a vast number of biochemical processes including apoptosis and blood coagulation. Over the last 20 years, knowledge of proteases has been drastically expanded by the development of proteomic approaches to identify and quantify proteases and their substrates. In spite of their merits, some of these methods are laborious, not scalable or incompatible with native environments. Consequentially, a large number of proteases remain poorly characterized. Here, we introduce a simple proteomic method to profile protease activity based on isolation of protease products from native lysates using a 96FASP filter and their analysis in a mass spectrometer. The method is significantly faster, cheaper, technically less demanding, easily multiplexed and produces accurate protease fingerprints in near-native conditions. By using the blood cascade proteases as a case study we obtained protease substrate profiles of unprecedented depth that can be reliably used to map specificity, entropy and allosteric changes of the protease and to design fluorescent probes and predict physiological substrates. The native protease characterization method is comparable in performance, but largely exceeds the throughput of current alternatives. Copy rights belong to original authors. https://youtu.be/2Qi1R7ZwNjo Some of you cops are becoming softer! Yes, weaker against injustice and Criminal Profiling. All these events happening around the nation are encouraging some of you to speak out. The Minneapolis in-custody death sparked outrage among the public. I have seen some "Celebrity" cops post snapshot photos of the in-custody death demanding justice. As a result, I haven't posted anything because I don't have all the facts to make an accurate and unbiased conclusion. George Floyd's full video doesn't present all the criminal facts. Yes, some of you are already biased against this case. Some of you are already biased against other cases! The Truth About The Case The truth about the case is that we don't know the truth. The probable cause affidavit was released to the public. I would like to say the affidavit highlights all the details about the case, including what happened to George Floyd. However, the affidavit is less than two pages long! I write longer criminal affidavits for public intoxication. I can see the reasoning behind expediting the arrest of former Officer Derek Chauvin. The city and police leaders in Minneapolis want to stop the destruction of their city. https://twitter.com/CityMinneapolis/status/1267560805609943041?s=20 https://twitter.com/mkultranews/status/1268000981356183552?s=20 In summary, does rushing a case hurt the defendant's or the victim's case? In fact, Charging Documents Suggest A Thin Case In Floyd Murder Charges. YOU ARE BIASED! Some of you are already crying and protesting about the subheading. Unfortunately, whether you like it or not, you are biased. Let me explain why. Some of you who posted early on about the case don't know what you did. From now on, you'll have a biased view. Even so, you didn't have any facts before the probable cause affidavit was published. You let your emotions and the media encourage you to post and speak your mind. You Are Biased You are going to hurt victims, no matter the race, sex, or belief. Your criminal profiling will be weak. Consequentially, you'll be biased against suspects. In the world of policing, you only have three types of people, law-abiding citizens, victims, and suspects. You see how I didn't use the word criminals. Criminals are the people who been through the court system, and they were found guilty of their crimes. You can't be labeling people out there as criminals. Without a doubt, you'll have a clouded judgment when they become the victims. Weak criminal profiling comes from the fact you don't want to press harder and might have to use force to find the truth of your cases. Criminal Profiling Vs. Racial Profiling These two terms are one of the most basic teachings of policing. Policing 101 dictates law enforcement officers must never use racial profiling. Nevertheless, criminal profiling is a tool we must use every day during our tour of duty. Racial profiling is the use of race or ethnicity as grounds for suspecting someone of having committed an offense. That's a big NO, NO! On the other hand, criminal profiling uses the facts of the incident to make an intelligent or methodical conclusion. These are some of the factors encompassed in criminal profiling: The time of the day when the crime was committed The number of reports of the same crime in a specific area Any suspicious people or vehicles based on the first two factors Prior knowledge of the criminal activity in the region by beat cops Investigative intel or other factors which contribute to the overall crime map The use of these and other factors encompasses criminal profiling. None of the critical points mentioned above use race or ethnicity as a factor. The Problem With Posting Your Opinion Before The Facts Although you might want to sound reasonable and encouraging of the public opinion, facts are facts. By posting individual opinions on your social media, you already demonstrated a criminal biased against former Officer Chauvin. His chances of a fair trial are gone. Just like everyone else, they will convict him no matter what. Thus, your biases are going to affect his case, but not in the lower courts where the verdict is guilty. Therefore, in his appeal process. Probably all the way to the supreme court. Hence, the justices will ignore all the noise and see if the charges brought up against him are legal. They will test every single definition of murder and manslaughter against the state's penal code. They will examine the policies and procedures of the Minneapolis Police Department. If the test fails, he either will go free or get another trial with more appropriate charges. Then we are back on square one. Your Biases Hurts Victims Now, let me switch to what this article is about. One thing I hate about other law enforcement officers is that fact they take one side. We aren't here to chose one side or the other. We are here to make sure the law is enforced. No buts or ifs… Enough said. Crime Is Our Only Enemy Any crime is our real enemy, not people. Crime doesn't practice one specific religion. Evil isn't a particular person or race. Crime is everywhere, happening at this moment, in every corner of this planet. From now on, your traffic stops will not be the same. You'll have this case in the back of your mind. You know what? You'll hurt people! I'm not talking about unjustified use of force or killing someone innocent. You'll hurt your partner because your weak criminal profiling thoughts will discourage you from looking further for a crime. You will confuse criminal profiling as racial profiling. You'll miss that gun, killing your partner because you didn't want to be seen as a "racist." You'll hurt the victim because you'll fail to ask suspect questions that might seem "discriminatory." Think about how your career will change from now on because you couldn't wait for the facts. Your job is to find the facts! In every call for service, you must find the facts! Making assumptions about cases or calls for service kills officers and victims every year! What Really Matters! Scrolling through social media, I have seen the destruction these "peaceful" protesters are leaving behind. Many small business owners lost everything. Three months of pandemic business revenue losses. Now, they attempt to open their businesses to find their building and goods on fire. Who are we really hurting here? Ourselves, we are killing ourselves. VICTIMS ARE WHAT REALLY MATTERS! The victims of any criminal episode should be what matters the most to you. At this moment, because cops are focusing on riots and protecting the cities, you are missing out on crimes that hurt the most innocent of victims. Human traffickers are exploiting the chaos to traffic more victims. They are moving them from state to state. To them, they aren't victims, but commodities. Suspects are using the internet to target innocent children to make them do things they don't want. Victims are getting kidnap torture and murder. Some of them in front of us! Look at this brutal murder perpetrated in front of hundreds of witnesses, but no one is going to speak out. JUSTICE FOR ALL! Dallas Shop Owner Killed Defending His Business Why aren't you posting these in your social media accounts? Doesn't he deserve the same justice as #JusticeForFlyod? What about this lady? Doesn't she deserve justice for her brutal attack? Every state has enhancements for handicapped victims. Isn't she a more vulnerable victim? Handicapped Woman Attacked By Rioters What about our fellow sheepdog? Does he deserve justice by finding the killer and convicting him in a court of law? I mean, he is a human being like anyone else. He is a victim, no matter the race, uniform, or profession he chose. Dave Patrick Underwood Federal Protection Services Get Your Priorities Straight Get your Fucking priorities straight. Some of you might want to stop being cops and find another profession. As one of my sergeants used to say, "Go Out There To Fight Crime and Suppress Evil." Some of you can't do that! Your priorities are to find and protect victims. Your precedences aren't to post about a case that clearly you don't know shit about. In this case, your opinion is irrelevant and is not going to change the crazy protestor's mind. What you need to be doing is getting close to your community. You need to be stepping out of the office and vehicle to speak with the public. Proof of this is Officer Deon Joseph. He has demonstrated one person can influence others to change their lives. His career among the residents of Los Angeles Skid Row taught him valuable lessons. Listen to his TED Talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jUZPtsIEGI Officer Deon Joseph The people who live in poor neighborhoods have issues too. Listen to their grievances and problems. I used to live in one of them. The drug use, fights, and crime were rampant. More people want to see you there. Despite what the media and other people say, most residents want to have a peaceful place to rest. When they see you enforcing what you consider insignificant or annoying calls might make the difference to them. They aren't going to thank you. Not because they hate you, but because that puts a target on their back. Today Is The Time To Suppress Evil Stop posting and reading about this case, go out there, and suppress evil! Make traffic stops, ask questions, and protect victims. If you see or feel something is wrong, press harder. Forget about the "I don't want the brass or the public to see me a biased officer." If that's the mentality you have, get out! We don't need you! We need influential minded law enforcement officers who can distinguish between right and wrong. We need the type of officers who will find a victim of heinous crimes and do everything legally to protect them. We need cops who will do everything in their power to do right. We need cops who are mentally stable to understand some people are not, and they need help. If you want to be a paper pusher, so be it. Stay inside the office, push papers, and collect your paycheck! Don't pretend you are a cop and get someone hurt or killed. It's okay, this is a tough job, and is not for everyone. Key Points There Are Law-Abiding Citizens, Suspects, & Criminals in our professions. There is not Black, White, Hispanic, Jew, Muslim, Handicap, etc. Your Job Is To Find The Facts Using The Law As Your Sword. Use it effectively, with dignity, and respect for each person you interact with. Stop Posting About Cases You Can't Control. Clean your own house before commenting on others. Some people in neighborhoods where "police aren't welcome" want you there anyway. They can't say it out loud because they'll put a target on their back. Fight Crime and Suppress Evil Use all your energy to find those evil people who harm the innocent. Fight Like A Sheepdog If you aren't fit to fight like a sheepdog, then move on This job isn't for the weak or cowards Find The Victims Innocent people are waiting for you. Your job is to navigate through the muddy waters to find them and rescue them. You'll get dirty, but It's worth it. You Are Not Discriminating Whenever someone throws phrases like "You are a racist" or "You stopped me because I am [Insert your response here]," it's just an excuse. Find the real reason why they are saying that. Some could be real prior bad experiences with police, while others could be attempting to distract you. Believe me, it works in some jurisdictions. Fighting Crime Isn't Discrimination. Criminal Profiling is our goal. If some of you feel offended by reading this piece, then don't follow me. I'm not here to please everyone but to tell the truth. If you feel angry, then you know which side you are on. If you see some truth and feel inspired by this piece, share, comment, and let me know what you think. Remember, "Don't be an ass, be an asset."
Foreign Direct Investment is promoted by developing economies like India, in order to supplement domestic capital, technology and skills to ensure accelerated economic growth. Accordingly, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry adopted the consolidated FDI policy in India with effect from August 28, 2017. With the onset of COVID-19 pandemic in India, in order to curb opportunistic takeovers/acquisitions of Indian companies, the Government of India has reviewed the FDI policy and accordingly amended the same. Consequentially, the Department of Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Finance notified the Foreign Exchange Management (Non-debt Instruments) Amendment Rules, 2020 on April 22 which are effective immediately. The vibration of gratitude is powerful. Because it's the day before Thanksgiving (when this is going live) I thought it timely to talk about gratitude. That one simple word when put into action will propel your business and your life faster than any tip, technique, trick or marketing process out there. I challenge you to create a gratitude journal and use it every day to recount new things you are grateful for and watch your life and business change. But, this is more than just well thoughts and wishes. Which is why I wanted to bring the perspective of science and hermetic teachings to the equation. Because science is definitely involved and is the reason this simple technique works when others do not. In Episode 64 I dive into science, the Kybalion and all things energy. Because what holiday would be complete without a little talk about energy? Give it a listen here. Here's what I have learned by studying the energy of gratitude for the last year and learning more about energy and vibration. For more details, check out the entire episode here. Connect to the vibration of abundance. Ask yourself, are you only grateful when good things happen to you? When you receive payment for a client? When you get a new client? Or are you grateful for all the blessings that come into your life all the time? Things like fresh water to drink, that the sun came up, that snow is watering the earth to make water for you to drink. If it is the former, the likelihood that you are tuned into the frequency of gratitude is slim. We are all energy, and as such vibrate at a specific frequency. 99% of our bodies are made of atoms. Hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and some other stuff. If we are energy, which science says we are, then we can conclude that we are constantly in motion. When studying the Hermetic principle of vibration, we learn that "Nothing rests, everything moves everything vibrates." If we take that a step further and realize we can control our vibration, can we not then also control what we attract and repel? The answer is yes. This means we have the power at any time to shift our vibration and bring in more of what we want in our lives. That's great Alisa, but how the heck do I shift my vibration? It is so simple, but not so easy. We have to control the only thing we can control, which is our thoughts. So how does this tie back to gratitude? By focusing on what you are grateful for, you have harnessed the power of abundance. Because you cannot have a thought of lack and a thought of thankful at the same time. It's impossible. Try it. I'll wait. How did it work out? Was I right? Mind blown right? I know I know it works because I don't share things with you that I haven't already tried and tried again. Which is why I wanted to share this with all of you. This one shift, tiny little shift, will change everything for you. But what about this literal pain in the neck that I have? Interestingly enough, that is energy too. We don't realize that our bodies are very intelligent creatures. When we don't deal with our emotions and we just shove them down inside, they don't go away. I'll give you a personal example of grief. I've spent a good chunk of the last 6 years sort of grieving, but not really giving in to it because I was busy taking care of other people. What do you know? I've had a literal pain in my hip, leg, and side for almost that long. That energy is stuck there and will continue to be there until I fully deal with whatever is going on in my emotional state. Again, how do I know? Because when I use tools like EFT (see episode #5 with Teri Karjala to learn how to use this yourself) and other energy work like polarity, massage or chiropractic - the pain goes away. But only temporarily, because I still haven't fully dealt with the emotions. But how do you change your thoughts? The simplest answer is through your breath practice. This includes things like meditation, yoga and frankly just breathing and focusing on that simple act we often take for granted. It is the one thing we do constantly each day, that keeps us alive, yet we often take it for granted. Meditation, yoga and focused breathing are all practices, which means, we MUST practice them to get better. Even if it is 10-15 minutes each day. A few more tips to get you focused on shifting your energy: Become aware of your thoughts. This doesn't mean beat yourself up, just bring awareness to them so that you can shift and change them over time. Choose carefully what you put into and on your body. Your body is your energy vessel. If you clog it up with unhealthy food, how likely do you think it will be able to vibrate at a higher level? Not likely at all because it will be focused on removing the junk you put into it. Notice where you focus most of your day and document it. Can you shift that focus even one time a day to gratitude or positivity? Can you walk away from conversations and people that are vibrating at a lower vibration? Where can you be just a little bit kinder? When you focus your energy, attention, and action toward kindness and being thankful, you spread that energy to others. Creating more of it. Consequentially, bringing more of it to you. Take the energy of this Thanksgiving holiday and bring it forward to every day and watch your life transform. Lastly, I want to thank each of you for tuning in every week to the podcast and for supporting this little idea I had about sending more love out into the world. It truly is a gift that I get to share the musings in my head with you and that you take away ideas and actions that make your business and your life better. Wishing you all the best of Thanksgivings, thank you for being a part of my life. Which tip are you going to focus on for the next year? Come share your results on the Facebook Page and let me know how your life is shifting. Download the entire episode transcript here.
Steadying Our Understanding with the Evidence Low back pain is one of the most prevalent, costly, and complex issues we face in rehab and medicine as a whole. It has been proposed that a large portion of back pain cases are due to core weakness or, as it’s commonly referred to, instability. This idea originated from the work of Paul Hodges and Peter O’Sullivan in the early 1990s. The idea caught like wild fire, infiltrating university level classes, continuing professional education courses, and subsequently shaping societal beliefs about backs and back pain causes. Fitness, rehabilitation, and medical professionals frequently blame back pain on an unstable or weak core. Consequentially, patients believe that, if they experience back pain, they must be weak and unstable in their spines. Yet, what does the current best evidence tell us about this topic? Has this theory strengthened, or has it failed to keep up with more rigorous investigation? Finally, what implications could this clinical framework have on patient outcomes and resilience surrounding the most common musculoskeletal complaint in the world? (Recorded at PAINWeek 2018)

Show #464 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Monday 6th May 2019. It’s Martyn Lee here and I’ve been through every EV story I could find today to save you time. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. MERCEDES-BENZ EQC SALES RELEASE & START OF PRODUCTION The first EQC will roll off the production line at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Bremen. "Mercedes-Benz EQC just entered production in Bremen, Germany where it is assembled along with the conventional C-Class Saloon and Estate, as well as the GLC and GLC Coupé. Later this year, production will be launched in China too in partnership with BAIC, by joint venture Beijing Benz Automotive Co. Ltd. (BBAC)." reports InsideEvs: "Merdeces-Benz joins the Tesla Model X, Audi e-tron and Jaguar I-PACE on the high-end part of the market. Prices in Germany (incl. 19% VAT) starts from €71,281, while the launch edition EQC Edition 1886 starts from €84,930.30. 80 kWh battery packs are assembled by Deutsche Accumotive at its site in Kamenz (near Dresden), Germany using LG Chem batterycells." https://insideevs.com/news/348128/daimler-starts-production-mercedes-benz-eqc/ AUDI CONSIDERING 'VEGAN PACKAGE' FOR E-TRON ELECTRIC SUV "The first-ever all-electric SUV from Audi is subtle and silent both in how it sounds, and the statement it makes. For the e-tron, Audi didn’t go for the quirky compliance car theme that we can find in everything from the BMW i3 to the Honda Clarity. Instead, it’s looking to tastefully blend into the crowd." says Manoli for Motor1.com today: "There’s no denying that buyers for premium electric SUVs might also be similar to the crowd that cares about their environmental impact in more ways than just driving. That can include the use of sustainable, recycled, or upcycled materials for vehicle interiors that would fit with folks who enjoy a vegan lifestyle, and it seems that Audi is listening." https://www.motor1.com/news/348135/audi-considering-vegan-package-electric-suv/ TESLA NAVIGATE ON AUTOPILOT: LANE CHANGE, ROAD DEBRIS, NO CONFIRMATION “Now that Tesla's Navigate on Autopilot feature has undergone another substantial update, it's high time to see exactly how it reacts. Thankfully, Tesla owner and YouTuber Scott Kubo does a solid job of showing off the feature while providing a nice narrative. The best part is, he doesn't ramble on and on, which keeps the video short and concise" report Steven Loveday for InsideEVs.com: "Kubo shows his Tesla Model 3 changing lanes on its own, without any driver confirmation. Moreover, there's some debris on the road that appears as though it's left over from a previous accident." https://insideevs.com/news/348088/video-tesla-navigate-autopilot-challenges Matthias Schmidt @auto_schmidt "Pure electric new car registrations in W.Europe have now surpassed >100,000 units after just 4-Months this year. Consequentially more new pure electric BEV passengers cars took to the streets during the first third of 2019 than during the whole of 2016." https://twitter.com/auto_schmidt/status/1125471147284254721 ELECTRIFY AMERICA HOSTS "CHARGE FORWARD" TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOP "It's been exactly a year since Electrify America turned on the power at their first DC Fast charger site on May 2nd, 2018. Since then, the EV charging network born out of the Volkswagen diesel scandal has been quite busy. In addition to the rollout of their network of high-speed DC fast charge stations, Electrify America had some more news to announce, so they invited select media outlets to their headquarters in Reston, VA for a technology workshop." says Tom Molughney for InsideEVs.com: "Electrify America president & CEO Giovanni Palazzo spoke first and proudly announced that they have just commissioned their 161st site. Palazzo also said they are targeting to have 484 sites open by the end of 2019. Those sites will include 2,000+ high-speed DC fast charge stations, and 2,800 level 2 chargers. The sites are an average of 70 miles apart, and have a maximum distance between sites of 120 miles." "The CEO also reaffirmed that Electrify America will indeed begin to employ Plug&Charge technology before the end of this year. Plug&Charge uses the global standard ISO 15118 which identifies the vehicle when it's plugged in, eliminating the need to use an RFID card or credit card to activate a charging session. Palazzo said that a multitude of auto manufacturers were already working on getting their EVs ready to utilize Plug&Charge technology." "In addition to the new lower per-minute rate and the membership plans, Electrify America will be charging based on the car's maximum charge rate. There are three different levels that will determine what the customer pays by the minute: 0-75 kW; 76-125 kW & 126-350 kW. The exact pricing for these three levels hasn't been formally announced yet, but this does seem to be a reasonable way to establish the pricing structure." https://insideevs.com/news/347986/electrify-america-charge-forward-workshop/ VOLKSWAGEN GROUP IS TRAINING ITS EMPLOYEES IN E-MOBILITY Zwickau will begin producing the compact ID.* this fall already – which is why the plant in Saxony is one of the first sites to provide comprehensive e-mobility training for its employees. Three thousand production workers alone will complete the training center’s e-mobility program, which is preparing them for the new production requirements. More than 300 apprentices have gone through the high-voltage training thus far – and there is a big demand for them at the company. CHINA'S LITHIUM SUPPLY LETS IT FAR OUTSTRIP U.S. IN CELL PRODUCTION "As the U.S. president pushes for more things to be built in his country instead of China, the push to build electric vehicles there comes as the rush for batteries persists. And China holds the lead in lithium supply over the U.S." writes Zac for InsideEvs.com today: "According to Bloomberg, both countries are investing heavily in other countries that are rich in lithium mining – Argentina, Australia and Chile, specifically. But China arguably has an edge because it is also doing mineral collection in its home country, whereas analysts say it's been decades since such facilities have been built in the U.S. Where the U.S. produces a little more than 10 percent of lithium-ion cells in the world, China controls roughly two-thirds of the market, the publication reported. China was by far the leading market for EVs in 2018 and the gap among the U.S. is only set to grow in the next few years, according to Bloomberg's analysts." UKRI STUDYING DEMOCRATIZED PEER-TO-PEER MICROGRIDS "UK Research and Innovation has begun a study to determine how people with small rooftop solar systems — called micro-generators — could create a peer-to-peer energy market. The research is funded by UKRI’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council." according to CleanTechnica: "Entitled the Household-Supplier Energy Market Project, the focus is on creating a democratized peer-to-peer (P2P) energy market. Currently, a homeowner with a rooftop solar system can use the electricity created within the home or sell it to the grid. In a peer-to-peer energy market, any two individuals or households could directly buy from and sell to each other, without involving utilities or other third parties." https://cleantechnica.com/2019/05/06/ukri-studying-democratized-peer-to-peer-microgrids/ COMMUNITY And thanks to MYEV.com they’ve set us another Question Of The Week. On this episode of Reel World: Rewind: Once again, Blake strikes with a challenging and heady movie. Richard Kelly's widely criticized second feature film Southland Tales suffered similar marketing obstacles to his first feature film, the classic film Donnie Darko. Consequentially, his second film has largely been forgotten. Blake Collier and Josh Crabb untangle this serpentine narrative to discuss Kelly's righteous anger, his sharp satirical takedown of LA and popular culture, and how the apocalypse is a bi-partisan initiative.

We are witnessing the beginning of a new stage of intelligent life in our evolutionary cycle; artificial intelligence. Technological advancements are being made in response to people’s increasing reliance on automation. Consequentially, they may be building their own evolutionary successors. These advancements didn’t happen overnight, and neither will a total A.I. takeover. But where does that leave the people faced with this technology? How did A.I. get here, where is it going, and- most importantly- will it bring human beings along? For more content on this topic, visit the sources page on objectivitycontent.com.

Someday in 2007, the world population reached a historical landmark: for the first time in human history, more than half of the world´s population was urban. A stagnation of this urbanization process is not in sight, so that by 2050, already 70 percent of humankind is projected to live in urban settlements. Over the last few decades, enormous migrations from rural hinterlands to steadily growing cities could be witnessed coming along with a dramatic growth of the world’s urban population. The speed and the scale of this growth, particularly in the so called less developed regions, are posing tremendous challenges to the countries concerned as well as to the world community. Within mega cities the strongest trends and the most extreme dimensions of the urbanization process can be observed. Their rapid growth results in uncontrolled processes of fragmentation which is often associated with pronounced poverty, social inequality, socio-spatial and political fragmentation, environmental degradation as well as population demands that outstrip environmental service capacity. For the majority of the mega cities a tremendous increase of informal structures and processes has to be observed. Consequentially informal settlements are growing, which represent those characteristic municipal areas being subject to particularly high population density, dynamics as well as marginalization. They have quickly become the most visible expression of urban poverty in developing world cities. Due to the extreme dynamics, the high complexity and huge spatial dimension of mega cities, urban administrations often only have an obsolete or not even existing data basis available to be at all informed about developments, trends and dimensions of urban growth and change. The knowledge about the living conditions of the residents is correspondingly very limited, incomplete and not up to date. Traditional methods such as statistical and regional analyses or fieldwork are no longer capable to capture such urban process. New data sources and monitoring methodologies are required in order to provide an up to date information basis as well as planning strate¬gies to enable sustainable developments and to simplify planning processes in complex urban structures. This research shall seize the described problem and aims to make a contribution to the requirements of monitoring fast developing mega cities. Against this background a methodology is developed to compensate the lack of socio-economic data and to deduce meaningful information on the living conditions of the inhabitants of mega cities. Neither social science methods alone nor the exclusive analysis of remote sensing data can solve the problem of the poor quality and outdated data base. Conventional social science methods cannot cope with the enormous developments and the tremendous growth as they are too labor-, as well as too time- and too cost-intensive. On the other hand, the physical discipline of remote sensing does not allow for direct conclusions on social parameters out of remote sensing images. The prime objective of this research is therefore the development of an integrative approach − bridging remote sensing and social analysis – in order to derive useful information about the living conditions in this specific case of the mega city Delhi and its inhabitants. Hence, this work is established in the overlapping range of the research topics remote sensing, urban areas and social science. Delhi, as India’s fast growing capital, meanwhile with almost 25 million residents the second largest city of the world, represents a prime example of a mega city. Since the second half of the 20th century, Delhi has been transformed from a modest town with mainly administrative and trade-related functions to a complex metropolis with a steep socio-economic gradient. The quality and amount of administrative and socio-economic data are poor and the knowledge about the circumstances of Delhi’s residents is correspondingly insufficient and outdated. Delhi represents therefore a perfectly suited study area for this research. In order to gather information about the living conditions within the different settlement types a methodology was developed and conducted to analyze the urban environment of the mega city Delhi. To identify different settlement types within the urban area, regarding the complex and heterogeneous appearance of the Delhi area, a semi-automated, object-oriented classification approach, based on segmentation derived image objects, was implemented. As the complete conceptual framework of this research, the classification methodology was developed based on a smaller representative training area at first and applied to larger test sites within Delhi afterwards. The object-oriented classification of VHR satellite imagery of the QuickBird sensor allowed for the identification of five different urban land cover classes within the municipal area of Delhi. In the focus of the image analysis is yet the identification of different settlement types and amongst these of informal settlements in particular. The results presented within this study demonstrate, that, based on density classes, the developed methodology is suitable to identify different settlement types and to detect informal settlements which are mega urban risk areas and thus potential residential zones of vulnerable population groups. The remote sensing derived land cover maps form the foundation for the integrative analysis concept and deliver there¬fore the general basis for the derivation of social attributes out of remote sensing data. For this purpose settlement characteristics (e.g., area of the settlement, average building size, and number of houses) are estimated from the classified QuickBird data and used to derive spatial information about the population distribution. In a next step, the derived information is combined with in-situ information on socio-economic conditions (e.g., family size, mean water consumption per capita/family) extracted from georeferenced questionnaires conducted during two field trips in Delhi. This combined data is used to characterize a given settlement type in terms of specific population and water related variables (e.g., population density, total water consumption). With this integrative methodology a catalogue can be compiled, comprising the living conditions of Delhi’s inhabitants living in specific settlement structures – and this in a quick, large-scaled, cost effective, by random or regularly repeatable way with a relatively small required data basis. The combined application of remotely sensed imagery and socio-economic data allows for the mapping, capturing and characterizing the socio-economic structures and dynamics within the mega city of Delhi, as well as it establishes a basis for the monitoring of the mega city of Delhi or certain areas within the city respectively by remote sensing. The opportunity to capture the condition of a mega city and to monitor its development in general enables the persons in charge to identify unbeneficial trends and to intervene accordingly from an urban planning perspective and to countersteer against a non-adequate supply of the inhabitants of different urban districts, primarily of those of informal settlements. This study is understood to be a first step to the development of methods which will help to identify and understand the different forms, actors and processes of urbanization in mega cities. It could support a more proactive and sustainable urban planning and land management – which in turn will increase the importance of urban remote sensing techniques. In this regard, the most obvious and direct beneficiaries are on the one hand the governmental agencies and urban planners and on the other hand, and which is possibly the most important goal, the inhabitants of the affected areas, whose living conditions can be monitored and improved as required. Only if the urban monitoring is quickly, inexpensively and easily available, it will be accepted and applied by the authorities, which in turn enables for the poorest to get the support they need. All in all, the listed benefits are very convincing and corroborate the combined use of remotely sensed and socio-economic data in mega city research.

Home care companies in the United Arab Emirates are seeking new ways to position products as environmentally friendly and sustainable. Consequentially, positioning products as environmentally friendly can also mean reducing pack sizes and packaging costs. Unilever led the way for this trend releasing liquid laundry detergent concentrate in smaller pack sizes in the Middle East, and in the next several years concentrated liquids are expected to perform well across all of home care.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is a chronic disabling disease of the gastrointestinal tract. The disease is strongly associated with limited performance of everyday activities and restrictions in work and employment, recreation and relationships to others, as well as reduced quality of life. Thus, suffering from IBD includes not only impairments of body functions and body structures but also limitations of activities in everyday life and restrictions in participation. Consequentially, a comprehensive approach of functioning and disability is required when addressing the impact of IBD. There are a large number of outcome measures that assess health status problems of persons with IBD. Many of these measures used in clinical practice or research are classification or scoring systems that refer to disease activity and symptomatology in IBD in terms of impaired body functions and structures (e.g., Crohn's Disease Activity Index (CDAI), Harvey Bradshaw Index). Hence, disability and functioning from a comprehensive point of view are poorly addressed in these measures and do not cover the whole spectrum of problems persons with IBD have to deal with. Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) offer the possibility to assess health status problems from the perspective of persons suffering a disease. The number of IBD-specific PROMs which focus on aspects of functioning, disability and health (e.g., Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire (IBDQ-32), Rating Form of IBD Patient Concerns (RFIPC), Inflammatory Bowel Disease Stress Index (IBDSI)) has increased over the last years so that the selection of appropriate PROMs for specific purposes or subpopulations has become a challenge for clinicians and researchers. However, up to now it remains unclear whether currently used IBD-specific PROMs cover the whole spectrum of functioning and disability. This doctoral thesis examines the content of IBD-specific PROMs using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) as a reference to facilitate the selection of appropriate PROMs by clinicians and researchers. The ICF endorsed by the World Health Organization as a common language of functioning and disability is a proven and useful tool for the examination and comparison of the content of outcome measures. A systematic literature review was performed to identify IBD-specific PROMs used in studies involving persons with IBD. Searches were performed in the literature databases Medline®, EMBASE, PsycINFO, CINAHL and CENTRAL. Searches were limited to English articles published between 1999 and 2009. Eligibility checks of abstracts and full-texts were performed applying pre-defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. IBD-specific PROMs reported in the selected studies, as well as study-related characteristics, were extracted. The items of the identified PROMs were translated (“linked”) to the most specific ICF category according to standardized and established linking rules. The linked ICF categories provided the basis of the descriptive analysis and the comparison of the content of the different PROMs presented in this thesis. A total of 9,728 papers were identified by the searches in the five electronic databases. The randomly selected abstracts of 2,579 papers were checked on inclusion and exclusion criteria according to the defined eligibility criteria. Based on this abstract check, 221 studies were identified for further analysis. Screening these 221 full-text articles, 46 studies were finally selected that reported the use of IBD-specific PROMs. The following eight IBD-specific PROMs were identified: Cleveland Global Quality of Life (Faszio Score) (CGQL), Inflammatory Bowel Disease Quality of Life Questionnaire (IBDQOL), IBDQ-32, IBDSI, Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire – short form (IBDQ-9), RFIPC, Short Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire (SIBDQ) and Work Productivity and Activity Impairment: Crohn’s Disease (WPAI:CD). In total, these eight IBD-specific PROMs included 129 items which were linked to ICF categories. The most frequently identified ICF categories are 'b1300 Energy level' and 'b5254 Flatulence' (IBDQOL, IBDQ-32, IBDQ-9, RFIPC and SIBDQ), as well as 'd920 Recreation and leisure' (IBDQOL, IBDQ-32, IBDSI, IBS-QOL and SIBDQ). Most of the analyzed questionnaires do not cover a wide range of aspects needed to assess functioning and disability from a comprehensive perspective; they only focus on selected aspects of functioning and disability of persons with IBD (e.g., emotional functions, pain, intimate relationships and remunerative employment). This doctoral thesis provides an item-based examination of the content of IBD- specific PROMs using the ICF as a reference. It offers a clear and precise picture of the addressed PROMs and their contents and enable physicians and researchers a direct comparison of these contents. The ICF was established as a useful framework for examining and comparing IBD-specific PROMs and their items with respect to the areas of functioning and disability covered. This information can be useful in selecting PROMs for clinical practice, as well as for any kind of investigations in which functioning and disability of persons with IBD is a relevant study outcome.
