Summary of Events The shooter, identified as Robin Westman (born Robert Westman, 23 years old), carried out an attack at a Catholic church and school during mass. Weapons used: pistol, rifle, and shotgun. Casualties reported: 2 children (ages 8 and 10) killed, 17 others injured (14 children and 3 adults). The shooter allegedly took their own life inside the church. The FBI labeled the case as a hate crime and domestic terrorism targeting Catholics, though local police had not fully confirmed the motive. Shooter Background Legally changed name from Robert to Robin at age 17. Described as transgender by commentators in the text. Left behind videos, writings, and a manifesto with disturbing content: Admiration for previous mass shooters. Anti-Catholic, anti-Trump, and anti-Israel messages written on firearms and magazines (e.g., “Kill Donald Trump,” “Israel must fall”). Obsession with school shootings and extremist rhetoric. Mother previously worked at the same school; shooter graduated from it in 2017. Political & Media Reactions Trump administration officials and FBI leadership framed the shooting as an act of religiously motivated hate. Commentary in the document accuses Democrats and liberal media of downplaying the hate-crime angle and focusing instead on gun control. References to Amy Klobuchar, Jen Psaki, and the Minneapolis mayor, criticizing their calls for tighter gun laws and for allegedly ignoring the ideological/mental health aspects. The mayor’s emotional remarks about gun violence and children’s safety are quoted, but framed as anti-gun rhetoric. The commentary repeatedly emphasizes a pattern of transgender shooters and accuses mainstream media of suppressing that detail. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. Preet's out this week, so we're excited to share an episode of Raging Moderates with Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov, which we think listeners of Stay Tuned with enjoy. We'll be back next week! Jessica Tarlov sits down for a wide-ranging conversation with Hillary Clinton to tackle some of the most pressing challenges of our time. They explore how Donald Trump could attempt to broker an end to Russia's war in Ukraine, how Democrats should navigate their relationship with Israel amid the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and Trump's accelerating consolidation of power at home. Secretary Clinton shares her take on the perils of “dumb power” diplomacy, the fractures within the Democratic coalition, and the struggles facing young men in today's economy. Plus, she also reflects on the stakes for democracy—and whether she believes America will ever be ready for a woman president. Follow Raging Moderates, @RagingModeratesPod. A mass shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic school leaves two children dead and 17 others injured, with investigators probing the suspect's anti-Christian writings and ties to the community. Mayor Jacob Frey and progressive commentators deflect anger over the attack by criticizing Christians and dismissing prayer. Prosecutors and sheriffs outline their evidence against the Haros, deny reports of a jailhouse confession, and say they are confident in securing a conviction even if they are unable to locate the body. Facing historic lows in favorability, Democrats weigh an unusual national convention ahead of the 2026 midterms to boost fundraising and media attention. On Wednesday's Mark Levin Show, the gunman responsible for the shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis has been identified as transgender Robin Westman. Westman opened fire through the stained-glass windows during a celebratory mass, killing two children and injuring 17 others, including 14 kids. A manifesto reveals his psychotic obsession with mass shooters and includes anti-Semitic statements about "filthy Zionist Jews." It's sickening that people will inject their politics into this event. Evil and sick individuals will commit harmful acts regardless of circumstances. Former prosecutors and left-wing mayors blame society or weapons, but that blame leads nowhere. What's happening is the attack on faith. Faith is pushed out of the classroom and the public square. For a mayor to say don't talk about prayer, he's missing the point. Faith has turned a lot of people around; there can never be enough prayer. Also, Lt Gov Winsome Earle-Sears calls in to discuss her race for Virginia Governor. She highlighting her statewide election experience and the Republican administration's successes—like low taxes, returning $9 billion to taxpayers, and reducing regulations—she pledged to eliminate the car tax, end sanctuary cities, deport illegal criminals, support police, and promote liberty over forced unionization. Her opponent Abigail Spanberger is a proud progressive who supports open borders, sanctuary policies, defunding police, and radical measures. Later, Sen Chuck Schumer and Democrats are blocking President Trump's nominees, confirming only 135 out of over 1,000 senior-level appointments through dilatory tactics. Republicans are eyeing rule changes or recess appointments, because this defies voters' mandate. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

SEASON 4 EPISODE 8: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: Donald Trump might as well have shot those kids in Minneapolis himself yesterday. Trump sends the WRONG guns in the WRONG hands to the WRONG places pursuing the WRONG criminals. You want to be tough on crime, Trump? Deploy the National Guard to the headquarters of the gun-manufacturing companies and arrest the monsters who make their money from the child-murdering business. Murdering children during their thoughts and prayers. And have ICE round up the politician prostitutes who take the gun money to protect a lie about what the second amendment really means. These are the criminals. Trump is the criminal. Trump is soft on crime, especially on the most prevalent, heart-rending crime of our century, school shootings. You want to push back against Trump as he militarizes this country? As he makes it The United Police States of America? You want to make something good happen in the wake of these latest children that we as a nation have sacrificed on our mindless altar of worship to guns? You want these to be the last? You have to say it; you have to SAY the truth: Trump might as well have shot them himself. Democrats are strangling themselves by listening to consultants and strategists who insist they cannot push back on Trump's deployment of troops in big cities because polling shows Trump's only policy that gets approval (53%) is his new stance on "crime." And yet the biggest political event of the week was a man who simply stood up and concisely and with controlled rage told the truth: Trump is crazy, Trump is trying to provoke violence, Trump's enablers will be prosecuted (or betrayed by him), and the media is bothsidesing us to death. His name is Governor J.B. Pritzker of Illinois and his comments may have been the true headline of this week. Also, bookkeeping news: the fine folks at iHeart and I have agreed to continue this podcast through at least the midterms. And a further announcement on a wider footprint is coming. B-Block (27:33) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: This may be the best edition of this, ever. Could this be the craziest thing (out of the 50,000 crazy things) Stephen Miller has said? Is he the first person to use the phrase "pool hall" in 60 years? Oh here we go: my ex is back in the news and stuck with the worst headline I've ever read: "RFK Jr's Digital Lover." And Candace Owens is being sued for defamation by the President and 1st Lady of France and she wants Trump to declare them "foreign invaders" and is amazed he won't because she's just not bright. C-Block (44:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Do people like Owens believe the crap they spout? I actually have 45 years' experience dealing with the phenomenon of the product subsuming the salesman. I met Rush Limbaugh when he was just a baseball guy and 30 years ago he stood at my desk at ESPN dreaming of doing SportsCenter. I knew Hannity when he said "why do people get worked up about this? It's just TV?" And then the link is established. The more they believe, the more money they make.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Democratic strategist Lis Smith joins the guest host Clare Malone, a New Yorker staff writer, to discuss the state of the Democratic Party, and how a decade of reliance on anti-Trump rhetoric has left Democrats reactive and directionless. They consider why groups that Democrats once counted on—from young people to communities of color—are shifting rightward, and what new strategies politicians from Gavin Newsom to Zohran Mamdani are testing to prove that the Democratic Party stands for more than opposition to Trump. This week's reading “The Trump Administration's Efforts to Reshape America's Past,” by Jill Lepore “How Former Biden Officials Defend Their Gaza Policy,” by Isaac Chotiner “The Endless August Recess,” by Antonia Hitchens “The Enormous Stakes of Trump's Effort to Fire the Fed Governor Lisa Cook,” by John Cassidy “What's Life Like in Washington, D.C., During Trump's Takeover?,” by Margaret Talbot Tune in to The Political Scene wherever you get your podcasts. In this episode of The Wright Report, we cover the heartbreaking Catholic school shooting in Minneapolis, a wave of swatting attacks targeting U.S. colleges, and global updates from Iran, Greenland, Vietnam, and West Africa. From domestic terror and cultural battles at home to mineral wars and Islamist violence abroad, today's brief delivers the facts shaping America's future. Minneapolis Catholic School Shooting: A 23-year-old man who identified as transgender opened fire outside a Catholic school, killing two children and injuring 17 others. In his manifesto he wrote, “I do it to please myself… I do it because I am sick.” The school's priest begged, “I ask you to — please — pray,” while Democrats like Jen Psaki shot back, “Prayer is not freaking enough.” Bryan calls Psaki's remarks “a demand of the evil and wicked” and links the shooter's instability to cross-sex hormones, THC use, and the broader dangers of experimental “gender affirming care.” Swatting Attacks Target U.S. Colleges: Universities from South Carolina to Colorado were hit by fake active-shooter calls, prompting dangerous police raids. Wired identifies the culprits as an online group called Purgatory, who brag they are “nihilistic” and do it for fun and cash. Bryan argues the crime warrants capital punishment: “You rip this stuff and these people out by the root.” Foreign Spies Captured Bolton's Emails: The New York Times confirms that a foreign intelligence service intercepted classified emails John Bolton sent to his wife and daughter from an unsecured system. Democrats call Trump's DOJ “fascist,” but Bryan insists, “Had I done what John Bolton did, I would be in prison a long time ago.” Iran's Nuclear Stockpile Neutralized: Satellite images confirm Trump's Operation Midnight Hammer left 900 pounds of enriched uranium entombed at Isfahan. The IAEA backs the finding, despite Iran threatening its director Rafael Grossi with death. Bryan says the news proves firing DIA chief Jeffrey Kruse for downplaying the strike was “a good clean-out of the Deep State.” American Operatives Stir Trouble in Greenland: The Wall Street Journal reports suspected Trump-linked contractors are recruiting Greenlanders for separatist movements, sparking tensions with Denmark. Bryan suspects, “These guys are more like Erik Prince's Blackwater than CIA professionals — sloppy, but maybe effective.” China Moves to Corner Vietnam's Tungsten Supply: Reuters reveals Chinese firms are secretly bidding for Vietnam's tungsten mines through front companies. With the U.S. sourcing a quarter of its tungsten from Vietnam, Bryan warns this could leave America “utterly dependent” on Beijing for another critical mineral. Islamist Violence in Ivory Coast Spurs U.S. Base Plans: Militants from Burkina Faso kill farmers in northern Ivory Coast, part of a growing jihadist campaign across West Africa. The U.S. considers building a drone and Special Forces base in Benin, Ghana, or Ivory Coast to counter both Islamists and China's expanding footprint in African resources and fishing. "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32 Keywords: Minneapolis Catholic school shooting, transgender shooter manifesto, Jen Psaki prayer remarks, THC psychosis gender dysphoria, U.S. college swatting attacks Purgatory group, John Bolton unsecured emails espionage, Operation Midnight Hammer uranium entombed, Jeffrey Kruse DIA firing, Trump Greenland operatives separatist movement, China Vietnam tungsten mine, U.S. dependence critical minerals, Ivory Coast Islamist attack Burkina Faso, U.S. West Africa drone base, China Africa bauxite cocoa fishing
This week, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker delivered an extraordinary takedown of President Trump over his deployment of the military in U.S. cities. Trump then exploded about Pritzker's impudence, calling the governor names and instructing him to bow down and beg for his “HELP” in fighting crime. Trump has threatened twice to occupy Chicago no matter what the city's residents and their elected representatives think about it, another window into his seething anger. In this standoff, Pritzker did something unusual: He communicated with his constituents from the heart, vowing to use all his power to protect them from Trump's authoritarian takeover. Rather than let Trump pretend he cares about crime, Pritzker cast Trump as the primary threat to his state's people. We talked to Brian Beutler, who has a great new piece on his substack, Off Message, taking stock of Pritzker's response. We discuss how Pritzker is shrewdly reading the moment in a way many Democrats are not, why Trump is vulnerable on crime, and what the punditry is getting so wrong about all of it. Cruz’s Visit to El Salvador Cruz is in El Salvador meeting with President Nayib Bukele, government officials, U.S. military, and embassy staff. He describes dramatic changes in safety under Bukele’s leadership—highlighting the crackdown on gangs, mass arrests of MS-13 members, and construction of a mega-prison. Cruz emphasizes the murder rate dropping from the highest in the world (100 per 100,000 in 2015) to 1.9 per 100,000 in 2024, a 98% decrease. He contrasts Bukele’s tough-on-crime approach with U.S. cities that, in his view, are paralyzed by progressive policies. Cruz stresses that security improvements are also prompting reverse migration: Salvadorans in the U.S. are reportedly returning home. MS-13 and U.S. Politics They discuss Kamar Abrego Garcia, an MS-13 member from Maryland involved in human trafficking and domestic abuse, who is facing deportation. Cruz criticizes Democrats, particularly Senator Chris Van Hollen, for being sympathetic to such individuals instead of supporting law and order. This segment is framed as an example of Democrats prioritizing criminals over public safety. Cracker Barrel & “Go Woke, Go Broke” Cruz and Ferguson mock Cracker Barrel’s recent rebranding decisions, claiming the company abandoned its traditional customer base for “woke” marketing strategies. They compare the backlash to similar situations with Bud Light and Target, noting plummeting stock prices and customer revolt. Cruz highlights investor warnings that leadership ignored, framing the reversal as a victory for conservative consumer pushback. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, the question media pundits keep asking: what is happening to the democrat party? What happened is that the people have learned a great deal about the Democrat Party and its ideologies over the years and they don't like it. Ideas do have consequences. Educating and reading remain crucial. Unfortunately, too many people with microphones and TV cameras have forgotten about this. Scholarship, history, philosophy still matter. They have always mattered. It's called getting back to basics. Getting back to our founding principles, beliefs, and values, and exposing those who seek to pervert, undermine, and destroy them. The Democrat Party is struggling and failing because it stands for virtually everything most Americans reject. Also, the American people elected President Trump in a massive landslide, saving the country from four more years of destructive policies like open borders, anti-military degradation, and campus marches chanting "from the river to the sea." We should not be complacent in the midterms. Also, the U.S. has offered to provide intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), command and control, and air defense assets to support a European-led security plan for postwar Ukraine, including participation in an air shield and no-fly zone enforcement. This includes US aircraft, logistics, and radar to enable European troop deployments, while monitoring ceasefires via superior satellite capabilities. This is necessary. Later, Democrats support violent criminals, while Trump is quickly controlling crime in Washington, D.C., by enforcing the law with police backed by the National Guard. Finally, by 2040 Islam could surpass Judaism as the nation's second-largest religion. America's Christian foundations—rooted in individual liberty, personal responsibility, and devotion to God—are eroding due to silence and fear. Learn more about your ad choices. Steve and the crew discuss the most recent example of Democrats wiping the floor against Republicans in off-year elections and why it should be a wake-up call for the GOP ahead of the midterms. Then, Steve says there's a very familiar pattern unfolding when it comes to TV stars Chip and Joanna Gaines, and Christians need to wise up. In Hour Two, the team plays a game of Buy, Sell, or Hold on numerous topics. Daniel Horowitz joins the show for his weekly message of woe and lamentation. Abrego Garcia has fought the Trump administration multiple times and won. But Trump and company just can't quit violating Abrego's constitutional rights. After DOJ lawyers lost a motion to keep him detained in connection with his criminal case in Tennessee, Abrego was released from prison and traveled home to his family in Maryland. However, when he went to his immigration appointment on Monday, Trump's officials put him back in custody again. Even worse, DOJ lawyers threatened Abrego that, if he didn't plead guilty to the Trumped-up criminal charges in Tennessee, they would deport him to Uganda. But if he did plead guilty (to crimes he says he didn't commit), then they would deport him to Costa Rica, where he would live as a free man.Glenn says: This kind of threat is both vindictive and violative of constitutional due process guarantees.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Thanks to President Trump's big budget bill, funding has been canceled for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. This is cutting funding to hundreds of radio stations in rural areas that rely on them for critical information. Speaking to The New York Times, GOP Senator Lisa Murkowski, who opposed the bill, sounded absolutely shocked that Trump and the GOP would harm their own voters so cavalierly. She said this is driven by a “blind allegiance to the president's desires,” adding that fear of Trump's anger overrode GOP lawmakers' concerns for their own constituents. Yet this has been the story on many other fronts, too. Will Democrats ever be able to capitalize? We talked to Lynlee Thorne, a Democratic organizer in rural areas as the political director of RuralGroundGame.org. She explains why rural radio is a lifeline, how Trump's agenda is shafting those areas particularly hard, what rural voters think about him right now, and how Democrats can repair the party's deep problems with them. If he'll go after a stalwart Republican like Bolton, why wouldn't he go after certain Republican presidential candidates? Join Jim and Greg for the Wednesday 3 Martini Lunch as they note Americans overwhelmingly see a crime problem in the U.S. and a majority likes how Trump is dealing with it. They also wince as Trump welcomes 600,000 Chinese college students into the U.S., and roll their eyes at the left's absurd "land acknowledgements."First, they're glad to see that 81 percent of Americans have the common sense to see that crime is a major problem. That includes 68 percent of Democrats. In addition, 53 percent of Americans approve of how President Trump is dealing with crime. This makes the Democrats' assertions that there really isn't a crime problem in our major cities look utterly ridiculous.Next, they cringe as President Trump says he is perfectly fine allowing 600,000 Chinese students study at American colleges and universities this year. Jim and Greg fume about the American students who suffer a result, and they point out what the Chinese government expects from their students when returning from the U.S.Finally, they shake their heads as the DNC national meeting kicked off with a "land acknowledgement," where someone explains which tribal nation had the land before European settlers allegedly took it from them. It's shameless virtue signaling, but is it backfiring for Democrats and could this practice ever have much more serious implications? Please visit our great sponsors:Upgrade your skincare routine with Caldera Lab and see the difference. The Ninth Circuit Court (!) just handed down a ruling that the citizenship rules outlined in the 14th Amendment must apply AS WRITTEN, rather then how Democrats have PRETENDED it was written. Bill, Steve and Scott discuss the thorny issue of what to do about people already granted US Citizenship through the Left's cruel and capricious effort to manufacture not just votes, but entire voters.
But I don't want to focus on the Democrats right now. I want to focus on the Republican Party because one of the big things that's going to shape the midterms — which, make no mistake, are going to be nationalized — is how the American public feels about the GOP. That includes the party's overall image, the fact that they currently hold the House, Senate, and the White House, and the role of Donald Trump as president. Historically, that's usually the kiss of death in a midterm. The public looks at single-party control and, whether consciously or not, pulls back a bit. It's a check on power, and more often than not, it happens.I still believe, sitting here in late August of 2025, that Democrats are in a good position to take the House back in 2026. The redistricting mess adds some chaos, but even assuming that plays out neutrally or slightly in their favor, the historical precedent is clear — they should be competitive. That said, if we were heading toward something other than a typical midterm correction, you'd start to see signs. Not signs that Democrats are collapsing — that's already evident in other areas — but signs that voters are unusually comfortable with Republican governance. And you know what? Those signs are there. If I had to judge the early terrain by three hard metrics, I'd go with national fundraising, party registration, and the president's approval rating. Let's start with the money. The Republican National Committee currently has $65 million in cash on hand. That's not an overwhelming total, but it's strong — especially with a year to go. More importantly, it's four times what the Democratic National Committee has. The DNC is sitting on just $15 million. That gap alone is bad enough, but it gets worse when you factor in spending decisions like Proposition 50 in California. That fight — to temporarily override the independent redistricting commission — is going to vacuum up cash from the same organizations and donors who would otherwise be investing in House flips. So the Democrats are undercapitalized, and they're committing resources to side projects. Then there's registration data. According to a recent New York Times report, Democrats have lost 2.4 million registered voters in swing states that track party affiliation. In the same set of states, Republicans have gained nearly that same amount. That's a five million voter swing. It's not just that Democrats are losing — Republicans are growing. That kind of shift doesn't usually happen in the middle of a polarizing presidency. People don't suddenly start checking the box for the incumbent party unless something is resonating. And considering the kind of term Donald Trump is having — rapid policy implementation, constant headline churn, immigration crackdowns, inflation waves, even distractions like the Epstein debacle — you'd expect backlash. Instead, you get a net positive in party affiliation. That brings us to approval ratings. Trump's RealClearPolitics average stands at 46.3 percent. He's still underwater, with 50.8 percent disapproving. But let's add context. That number is higher than Joe Biden, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, or even Ronald Reagan had at this same point in their second terms. That's unusual. And while being underwater is never ideal, that 4.5-point spread is about what you'd expect for Trump when you factor in how he's consistently undercounted in national polling. And the range of poll results is all over the map — Rasmussen has him up one, Harvard Harris has him down two, YouGov has him down 12, and Gallup just released a poll with him down 16. But even Gallup's number is an improvement from previous weeks, which suggests that Trump's “tough on crime” stance — especially in DC — is landing. So when I step back and look at the full picture, what I see is a Republican Party that isn't being punished. That might sound basic, but it's a big deal. Historically, you'd expect that by now — with the administration moving aggressively, Democrats hammering every misstep, and inflation rising — the electorate would be turning. But instead, Republicans have a funding advantage, a registration advantage, and a president who's polling better than most of his second-term predecessors. That doesn't mean they're going to hold the House. The historical pattern still favors Democrats picking up seats. But it does mean that the GOP is better positioned than it has any right to be under these circumstances. And if your theory of the midterms is based on Trump's agenda — the one big, beautiful bill, cutting Medicaid, handing out tax breaks, and all the rest — then you have to reckon with the fact that, at least for now, it isn't hurting them. Maybe that changes. But if this were going to backfire, I would have liked to have seen a little something from it by now.Chapters00:00:00 - Intro00:04:20 - Early Midterms Thoughts00:16:21 - Update00:16:42 - Abigail Spanberger00:23:47 - Trump's Chinese Students Plan00:27:55 - Lisa Cook00:33:54 - Interview with Amanda Nelson01:26:10 - Wrap-up This is a public episode.
