Paul and Sean were so glad to invite Henry back for another whistle-stop, rollicking ride through the rest of his career.   We kick off with The Christians, his best-known venture, with our analysis of their trademark harmonies, Motown influences and ‘gritty' messages. We have some tasty baked goodies to share with you too, notably a live performance from one of the band's very first gigs. We coo over two particular hits - both extremely beautiful and poignant. We listen heart in mouth as he describes the moment last December when he and the band completed a moving tribute to Iranian hostage Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe. The reworked Christians song 'Naz Don't Cry' created a stir on social media just before Christmas 2021.   Despite Henry's solo career not kicking off in earnest until the start the last decade - at the tender age of 53 - he has no end of fantastic stories about his prolific activity as composer, collaborator and producer in the 90s and 00s, including Take That's Mark Owen, no less.    Signing once again to Island Records for his acclaimed album “The Chronicles of Modern Life”, followed some years later by  “The Last Mad Surge of Youth” and "Six of One & Half a Dozen of the Other” (with Les Glover), all three records show an emerging wryness, warmth and self-deprecation, and Henry is hilariously honest about his outlook on life, his music and getting older!   As an absolute treat for fans of 10cc and Graham Gouldman, we're thrilled to be able to share with you some of a pile of demo tapes Henry's shared with us. All feature him and Graham in the throes of collaboration, and *no one* has heard these!  Many of these terrific songs were largely intended for inclusion in the hit West End show Dreamboats and Petticoats. Other tapes are one-off recordings with such collaborators as John Campbell from It's Immaterial. They're terrific, and we're really looking forward to hearing new versions of some of them featured on Henry's forthcoming album ‘Beautiful Ruins'.

Yachets, It's Immaterial &The Christians with Henry Priestman in conversation with David Eastaugh In the late 1970s he played with the British power pop band, Yachts. Yachts supported The Who on their 1979 European tour. In 1980, Priestman was one of the co-founders of It's Immaterial. Although he had officially left the band by 1986, he played as a session musician on the hit single, "Driving Away From Home", and appeared with the band on Top of the Pops. During the 1980s and 1990s he was a member of The Christians. Priestman has also been used as a session musician by both Bette Bright and Mike Badger. Priestman played keyboards on Badger's albums, Lo Fi Acoustic Excursions by Mike Badger & Friends (2004), The Onset (2005), and Lo Fi Electric Excursions by Mike Badger & Friends (2006). Priestman was the producer of Mark Owen's 2003 Top 5 album, In Your Own Time.  On 22 September 2008, Priestman released his debut solo album, The Chronicles of Modern Life, on Stiff Records. Artwork was made by Tobbe Stuhre. The album was a success, and Island Recordsbought the entire project for a major re-release. When Island Records picked up the album from Stiff, Priestman became the oldest artist to be signed to a major label for a debut solo album.[citation needed] He also wrote music for a digital age, including a James Bond Xbox game, BBC TV's Wildlife on One and Natural World. He has also written the music for numerous commercials. He supported Fisherman's Friends in 2011, and played a slot at the Beverley Folk Festival in 2013. He continues to enjoy live work, and released his second album, The Last Mad Surge of Youth on 17 February 2014. Priestman also composed the title song for the West End musical Dreamboats and Petticoats, and he wrote three songs for Graham Gouldman's 2012 album, Love and Work. In 2015, he released his first solo live DVD entitled Settle Down, recorded live at Victoria Hall in Settle, Yorkshire.

Primark have made huge profits and are taking a bit of stick from our army of do-gooders…they are suggesting people boycott the store because the stuff they sell is made in China by workers who are poor and mistreated…..the stuff they sell in the store is CHEAP !!!....that’s all 99% of shoppers are interested in I’m afraid. My take on this is if Primark can sell cheap so can the big stores…end of. ...I went to see “Dreamboats and Petticoats” on the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton….it was sort of O.K….but not worth 28 quid a ticket….the music which is live was good but the acting let it down…I’ve seen the show before on the Empire which was much better…shame. ...I watched a drama about Tommy Cooper on tele this week (did you catch it?) it was brilliant…the guy who played him was great (David Threlfall?...who was the star of “Shameless” which I never watched)…it was a great insight into the life of T.C. (I was never a fan)…I think the guy will get an award for this…it was excellent. ...I was listening to Boney M on the radio the other day and was reminded how good their records were … great bass player and drummer on the records….the song was “Rasputin” …it took me back to an interview on BBC with one of the girls in the band who said SHE was the only singer on the discs….the dancing fool in the middle couldn’t even sing…his voice was actually the managers voice….another great pop revelation…which reminded me of a guy called Tony Burrows who kidded them all…he was in the original Brotherhood of Man before the Eurovision lot took over the name…he was also the singer in White Plains,Eddison Lighthouse AND The Pipkins…..who all got in the charts at the same time…and appeared on Top Of The Pops…..so the secret was out and he got a ban from the Beeb…classic stuff. ......I am back playing golf and of late the courses have been virtually empty…this is over the last six months…I also have a mate who lives near the Royal Liverpool who will be hosting The Open this year…and he intends to rent his flat out (you can get 10 grand for the 5 days)…but up to now he has had no takers…he has two estate agents on the job and had had to bring the price down….could it be that golf is fading in popularity?...the same thing happened with squash when I used to play in the 70s….interesting.
