Carolien, from South Holland, The Netherlands, sets the first question to be discussed today - “When you both think back, what do you remember most about your working collaboration? Would that be the same as other people have?” William highlights the enjoyable collaboration with Stuart, which has faced challenges but evolved into a rewarding experience. Their strong criteria for working together has fostered reliability. Despite opportunities to part ways, both William and Stuart have remained committed. Stuart humorously acknowledges William's influence, emphasising the rarity of finding reliable, long-term collaborators. Yusuf, from Kocaeli, Turkey sets the second listener question for todays episode - “Interested to hear both your thoughts on modern film making techniques and style as an effective way to motivate and get urgent environmental messages out there?” Stuart critiques modern filming techniques, particularly their impact on people with epilepsy and the artificiality of the ‘BBC way of talking.' He advocates for slowing down and avoiding short snippets. Stuart also highlights the overreliance on effects and the need for techniques that consider diverse cognitive abilities. He also feels modern film treats audiences as though they're in the middle of an orgasm, when it should be more directed at when someone is drinking a steady pint of Guinness. William emphasises the importance of allowing film scenes to breathe, citing the film The End We Start From as an example of effective storytelling through measured pacing.  Both agree on the value of creativity over repetition. Another landmark live show for the Empire Podcast saw a capacity crowd cram themselves into Hall One at our spiritual home of Kings Place, London, to celebrate Episode 600. And we brought along some exceptional star guests as well, as Tom Hiddleston — Loki himself — popped in for an extended chat about the God Of Mischief, and other animals, with Chris Hewitt; Mia McKenna-Bruce, the star of How To Have Sex and newly-minted BAFTA Rising Star Award nominee, chatted to Beth Webb about Robert De Niro, McDonald's, and Fake James Cameron; and Ray Winstone sat down with Alex Godfrey to natter about his forthcoming one-two punch of The Gentlemen and Damsel, and some of his legendary films, from Sexy Beast to Nil By Mouth. That extended trio of interviews can be found at approx: 57:16.00 and ends roughly at 2:14:00Either side of that, you will find more live show chaos from the podteam, as Chris is joined on stage by Helen O'Hara, James Dyer, and Ben Travis to discuss the week's movie news, review The Holdovers, Mean Girls (not that one), The Kitchen, and The End We Start From, and they tackle as many audience questions as they can before the venue turns out the lights. Mind you, we would have kept going by the light of our Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire glow-in-the-dark cover. Anyway, it's an absolute belter of a show, and we hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we did making it. And thanks for all your support over the years. We couldn't do this without you. Enjoy.

Delving into the 'Journey' and 'Official Competition' strands, these are very different offerings, but both very captivating!!! 'All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt' is written & directed by Raven Jackson. Mack (Kaylee N. Johnson, Charleen McClure, Zainab Jah) has been taught to know the earth – the woods, the water and the clay, which her ancestors drew sustenance from. But life itself, in all its messy beauty, is less predictable. 'The End We Start From' is directed by Mahalia Belo which he co-wrote with Alice Birch, it's an adaptation of Megan Hunter 2017 book of the same name. Erik Childress flies solo on this one detailing his full experience at this year's event. He shares his thoughts on over 25 films ranging from new titles from Richard Linklater, Alexander Payne and Kitty Green to even actors getting behind the camera including Anna Kendrick, Michael Keaton and Patricia Arquette. There are films with songs, stories with cops, drug dealers, hit men and serial killers plus two of the year's very best films about teachers. Tales of everything from WWII to Spring Break, apocalyptic combat to Chicago's Cabrini Green. Not every film is a dream though one certainly has a fun time with them not to mention the emphasis on women's stories and trying to find peace in a world of bad men and at least one they call their father.
