Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesIt appears as though Marvel Studios much speculated film that was slated to release between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars in July 2027, won't be happening after all; or at least not that July, as Disney has replaced the untitled project with a sequel to The Simpsons Movie dated for July 23, 2027. The move comes as a surprise to many Marvel fans who anticipated a possible Doctor Strange or Shang-Chi sequel to take place between the Avengers tentpoles but is in keeping with what Bob Iger and Kevin Feige have promised about a slowdown in production. Elsewhere, with Marvel Zombies premiering on Disney Plus last week, Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum teased a possible season 2, but emphasized that would be contingent on viewership and new Disney Plus subscriptions. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Olsen took the opportunity to share that although she recorded lines for the series, she doesn't remember anything about the show or plot. It was a huge week for trailers from a bevy of our favorite franchises, so lets run them down with another good old fashioned Trailer Park:Insomniac and Sony released the first gameplay trailer for Marvel's Wolverine on the PS5, which will release in fall of 2026.Lucasfilm unveiled a new trailer for Star Wars; Visions Volume 3 which also announced the cast that includes Anna Sawai, Freddie Highmore, George Takei, Harvey Guillén, Jodie Turner-Smith, Judith Light, Simu Liu, Stephanie Hsu, and Steve Buscemi. The final trailer for Jon M. Chu's Wicked: For Good released last Wednesday morning to much acclaim. And finally, a new trailer for 20th Century's Avatar: Fire and Ash teased more of the villainous faction and stakes.Director Denis Villeneuve shed new light on his upcoming version of 007 for Amazon/MGM; sharing that the casting process will begin next year after he's completed production on Dune: Part Three for Warner Bros and that he is looking to cast a “relatively unknown” “fresh face” actor in their 20s or 30s. Additional criteria the filmmaker included is that the performer must hail from the British Isles and be male, as well as his desire to capture what Fleming called “a blunt instrument” — the lethal but “extremely dull, uninteresting man to whom things happened.” If Villeneuve and team stay true to these parameters, it potentially rules out many fan-casted favorites and seems to be in more alignment with the Broccoli family's traditions with the character than expected with new creatives in control.Mark Ronson is slated to reunite with Greta Gerwig to score her Chronicles of Narnia adaptation at Netflix. Ronson previously served as executive music producer for Gerwig's Barbie.Amazon MGM Studios‘ adaptation of Rebecca Yarros' bestselling novel Fourth Wing is closing in on a new showrunner. Wednesday Season 2 executive producer Meredith Averill is in final negotiations to board the project as writer and executive producer.Sony revealed that Spider-Man: Beyond the SpiderVerse will arrive a week earlier than expected, and land on June 18, 2027. Notably, that new date will cover the Juneteenth holiday as well as Father's Day. It previously was dated for June 25, 2027.Comedian Bill Burr is in talks to join the cast of Aaron Sorkin and Sony Pictures' sequel to The Social Network, after Jeremy Strong, Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White were officially cast. The film also has been retitled The Social Reckoning and will officially hit theaters on Oct. 9, 2026.A newly created AI “actress” named Tilly Norwood, designed by the studio Xicoia under Particle6, has reportedly drawn interest from Hollywood talent agencies. The announcement sparked major backlash from real actors, with critiques about replacing human talent, the ethics of compositing real faces, and calls to boycott agencies that represent AI personas.

Welcome everybody back to another episode of WestVancouver.com / West Vancouver Magazine Podcast. Here in Hollywood North, we have lots of glam. And live on air with me today is one of those people who makes it all happen. We have Shawn Williamson here with us from Brightlight Pictures. It doesn't get any better than this when it comes to lights, camera – action! Shawn, thank you for joining us. Shawn Oh, thank you, my pleasure. Cat Now I can only imagine what you've seen over 20 years of movie-making, T.V. and films. You've been involved in all aspects of it. Rumour also has it you're from North Vancouver. So, where did this all start? Shawn Well, I did. I grew up in North Van. I went to Argyle. And so I'm a North Shore boy originally. But it started organically out of the theatre. I went to university for a very brief moment, and discovered it wasn't really for me, and ended up working at the Arts Club Theatre where I did an apprenticeship and ultimately worked in all kinds of different technical and behind the scenes positions over the years - and ended up there as a stage manager before I transitioned into film and television. Cat So you weren't the guy up front doing the tap-dancing - you were always the guy kind of behind the scenes helping put it all together? (laughs) Is that kind of accurate? Shawn I've never been on stage. (laughs) I have no talent whatsoever. So I'm very, very happy behind the camera. Cat Well, that's completely not true. Because you clearly have absolute mounds of talent to be able to survive in what is an incredibly difficult industry and sometimes made more difficult by the fact that you're Canadian. I know L.A. is a tough scene as well for anybody looking to make it big, but you've clearly made it big. So what exactly would you say your job title is? Tell us, what does somebody in your position do? What is your day like? (Use the timestamps below to forward ahead in the podcast above) Cast and Crew of ABC's The Good Doctor - from left, David Shore, Shawn Williamson and Freddie Highmore. Photo credit: Sony Pictures Used with Permission 02:47 - Shawn Well, it really does vary. Different producers do very different jobs. Some are working in development, finding scripts and packaging them, or putting them together with other talent, with actors, directors and studio money. And some producers, which is how I started, just grew up making movies. Vancouver has generally been a destination for foreign films. And it certainly now has blossomed and grown and matured into a proper production destination where you can finance and package films. But earlier on, it was a destination. So I grew up in the industry making movies and television shows for U.S. studios or foreign financiers. And so, part of my job originally was simply to make the movie. And you are effectively the employer on set. You're the person that deals with the creative elements. You juggle all the elements that you would think - actors, directors, the studio's desires, and the script. So you have a budget you're working towards, and you're spending effectively every part of that budget. But it's largely people management, and our philosophical view in producing comes from what I learned at the Arts Club as a stage manager. 05:36 - Cat Wow, well, I'm going to guess that there isn't a producer's school - this is something you had to really get in and get your hands on, as you said, use your experience. But it sounds like you really need to hone your focus and your talents on keeping all these balls in the air. I imagine the bigger the story, the bigger the script, and the bigger the cast, the more it can really run wildly out of control. So that sounds like that's the hardest part – but what is the best part of your job? 06:18 - Shawn The best part is the people – and telling stories. We're making television, we're telling stories, we're making films and such - it doesn't really matter when yo...

On this episode we talk about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. That's the 2005 version with Freddie Highmore as Charlie, not the 1971 one with Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka, which isn't called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at all, it's called Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory so there really shouldn't be any confusion. In this episode we talk about supporting art made by bad people, about whether Oompa Loompas are redeemable, and about why candy is only bad if you are fat.

While still a young child, Freddie Highmore established himself as a leading talent in the film world. Previously Empire Award's Most Promising Newcomer, Highmore is a double SAG nominee and was winner of the Film Critics Award for the world's Best Young Actor two years running. Having shot “Two Brothers,” directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud, “Women Talking Dirty” with Helena Bonham Carter and “Five Children and It” with Kenneth Branagh, Highmore came to prominence as Peter in the Oscar-nominated “Finding Neverland.” His co-star Kate Winslet described him as simply the best young actor she had ever seen. Johnny Depp was so impressed that he pushed for Highmore to star opposite him again in Tim Burton's “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” After appearing alongside Russell Crowe in Ridley Scott's “A Good Year,” Highmore went on to play the title role in Luc Besson's “Arthur and the Invisibles” trilogy, where he became fluent in French.
