With online marketing, you can utilize various digital tools to execute advertising campaigns and track your results. As a marketer, you have to make the most out of these tools and come up with an effective online marketing strategy that will cater to your prospects' needs. Considering that most customers are on the Internet, having solid online marketing is also an excellent opportunity to boost your business' credibility and growth. In today's episode, we're joined by Chelsea Frederick, the CMO of Brandetize and Brian Tracy International. She highlights the importance of putting value in your marketing content and creating a system of processes to execute it. She also talks about what it's like working with the one-and-only Brian Tracy and the lessons she has learned being in the industry for more than ten years. Make sure you tune in to the show and find out the blueprint of what every business marketer needs to be successful in online marketing! About Chelsea Chelsea Frederick is the CMO of Brandetize, a performance-based digital marketing team that has been helping online businesses thrive for over 18 years. She is also the CMO of Brian Tracy International. Chelsea is a digital marketing professional with extensive expertise in direct response marketing, branding, and business development. She helps businesses execute a results-driven integrated marketing strategy for their brand, product or service.  How to Put Value in Online Marketing Getting into Marketing Chelsea majored in marketing in college and started working at Brian Tracy right after. She had always been interested in marketing and the whole psychology and writing aspect behind it. Now, she has transitioned into the analytical side and looking at the bigger picture. The Biggest Challenges in the World of Direct Response and Online Marketing Direct response is taking one action and achieving results.  According to Chelsea, attribution has been an ongoing challenge for them. Particularly for Brian Tracy, there are a lot of different moving parts, which adds to the level of sophistication on the attribution side. Sometimes it's enough to get close and know that you're making more than you're spending, even if it's not to the exact decimal point. Key Pillars of Revenue Generation Email marketing has always been huge for generating quick revenue. Put out content with value and be consistent with it. For Brian Tracy, they utilize and automate evergreen email sequences. They also have affiliate marketing, outside ads, and blog. It's the consistency and how long they've been running. Putting Value in Your Products Always put your best foot forward. Give good content and add value, which allows people to trust you. Lead with the best. Capture that lead, and then you can dive in and figure out what else they want. Advice for Online Marketers Who Struggle in Sales If your sales page isn't making any sales, take a look at your offer. Don't shut everything off at once when you see people aren't buying. Make sure you have the data that can give you some insight into people. Go with your warm leads first. If it does well, move outside sources like affiliates and Facebook ads. You should never send one email and expect results—you need to follow up on people. Do a lot of testing to find the right market and try to figure out what would add value. The Benefit of Testing It allows you to learn about your offer and your customer base. When you learn more about your customers, you can tailor your message and marketing towards them more clearly. Then, you're going to have better results. Headlines are the simplest thing you can tap and boost on an opt-in page without needing to change your marketing budget. The Biggest Mistakes in Marketing Promotion Starting off mailing directly to the sales page and not capturing the lead first. Marketing isn't just a one-off, and you're done. It's a sequence of events. On the sales page, the biggest thing to focus on is the opt-in page because that increases everything else through the funnel. Creating a System of Processes Create a system of processes and find the best person to do the repeatable tasks you can offload. You need to have human resources for specialist positions. Brian Tracy: “Every minute you spend in planning saves 10 minutes in execution, and this gives you a 1,000 percent return on energy.” What It's Like Working with Brian Tracy Brian Tracy pulls so much wisdom around stories and metaphors he can refer to. He does what he does because he loves it. He loves writing books and speaking, and he was born to do it. Brian Tracy gives more value in a lot of instances. Curiosity drives people's passions. The Wonders of Marketing Chelsea loves the number of new opportunities, new tools, and new ways of online marketing. She finds that it's remarketing in itself. She also loves creating a system and writing it down before moving on to something else. In business, you can't do the same thing forever. You need to evolve with the new technologies that are emerging. Habits for Online Marketing Success One important and significant habit for success is continuous learning. Read continuously, because it will allow you to stay on top of things. You can't allow other people to dictate your time. Stop and think about what's important. If you're doing all you're doing is learning without implementing, then that just becomes an excuse not to take action. There has to be a balance. There are many avenues where you can learn: there are podcasts, books, and audiobooks, among other resources. The Agency Model Chelsea and her team are partnering with talent. It's the same core pillar, strategies, and principles but different content. Their ideal clients are people who have a name and their space, someone who can create content and needs a team to manage their day-to-day operations and marketing. Schwartz Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill The 17 Day Diet by Dr. Mike Moreno You can connect with Chelsea on LinkedIn, or you can email her at chelseafrederick@brandetize.com. Are you interested in growing your business, automating/streamlining things, and staying one step ahead of your competition? Do you want to achieve your goals, get more things done in less time, and double your sales?

37: Don't Make This $5000 Mistake: What We Learned (The Hard Way) About Paid Ads And The Customer Awareness Journey

In this episode, Chris will talk about the importance of understanding where potential customers are on their customer awareness journey. Him and John learned that the hard way when they put out Facebook ads for a teacher training and a retreat, both separate events, that they were organizing and needed to fill up. They hired a hugely successful Facebook ads agency to handle the ads for them, but the results for both events were surprisingly different. And that was all because of customer awareness levels. The customer awareness journey starts with someone being unaware that they have a problem, and that there is a solution to it. They then progressively become aware of their problem and start discovering that there is a solution to it. It’s at that point that a person can then start looking for a solution, and such a person is always ready to purchase the solution wherever they can find it. Going back to the events that John and Chris had put out Facebook ads on, they were targeting people locally. And for the teacher training, people already knew them for offering that and trusted them in that regard. That was reflected in the success of the ads because they got quite a good number of people signing up for the training. But for the retreat, they were not so well known for it, and it reflected in the not so good number of sign ups. That’s how customer awareness played into the kind of results that came from the ads for each event. Because the potential customers for the teacher training were at a higher level of awareness about what John and Chris had to offer, the number of people who signed up for the training was high, while the results for the retreat were the opposite. Stay tuned to learn more about how you can apply John and Chris’s lessons on the subject into your own yoga business, so you can always get the highest return out of your advertising dollars. Key Points Discussed:Breaking down the customer awareness journey (02:40)How people move towards problem awareness and solution awareness (04:06)Getting a 600% return on investment for using Facebook paid ads targeted at customers at a higher level of awareness (07:43)The importance of understanding where people are on the customer journey (12:50)Spending $5,000 on ads and getting zero leads from it (15:32)Additional Resources:Breakthrough Advertising By Eugene M. Amazing FBA Amazon and ECommerce Podcast, for Amazon Private Label Sellers, Shopify, Magento or Woocommerce business owners,

Amazon listing optimization process is important. It is a comparison shopping engine. The attention that isn't gained and held will go to the competition. Background  Danny Carlson is the Founder of Amazon optimisation and listing agency, Kenji ROI and host of Actualise Freedom podcast and lifestyle enthusiast living in Bali. There are quite a few Amazon sellers in Bali in fact! They have quite a lively community there.  Keyword Optimization Elements: 3 Elements: -Keyword optimisation.  -Key info-communication.  -Persuasive Desire Optimisation. If you get the 3 key elements right, you should see exponential growth, not linear. Keyword optimisation: Relevancy trumps volume. The title is the most important. Use the search terms field for the most important keywords. Title structure Main search phrase in the exact match: -The most important describing information. - Second main phrase. - The main benefit. -Third main phrase. Subject matter fields Use all 5 fields, 50 bytes (characters) each. Place top 3 search phrases across at least 3 of title, bullets, description and subject matter. Key info-communication  The most underestimated piece of a listing. ID the key info shoppers are scanning for. Then prioritize and place in strategic areas to maximize CTR and Conversion rate: Most shoppers look for specific traits (eg size, for iPhone X, pack of 20).  So Amazon is a comparison shopping engine. The attention that isn't gained and held will slip to competition for product pages. Getting the click  You only really have control over the main image and the first part of the title (On mobile even less than on Laptop etc). Do you have the key information? Images on the listing  The first 3 images are the critical ones because how would someone know 80% of the key info needed if only used them? The first 70 characters of the top 3 bullet points are the most critical. Optimize that to be benefit-driven. Competitor products There are 26 visible competitor products on all of your product pages in Amazon listing optimization process. There is, therefore, an incredible number of chances for people to click on those. Conversely, you can steal sales from less optimised. Persuasive Desire Optimisation Use sales psychology to portray your product as a bridge from current pain to an improved future situation. Sales copy is a skill mostly based in psychology not writing or English skills. Sales copywriting It's the single most valuable skill an entrepreneur can learn in the Amazon listing optimization process. Best books:  Breakthrough Advertising by Eugene M. After his parents bought a stolen car and found themselves at a $5,000 loss, he created a website that wouldn’t allow this to happen again. David’s focused and realistic mindset has supported TotalCarCheck.co.uk in running background checks on almost two thirds of all the vehicles in the United Kingdom. The parallel app has become one of the top utility apps in the UK and David continues to use forward thinking, innovation, and his customers to grow his company and create transparency in the car buying process. SHOW SUMMARY: David James, founder of TotalCarCheck.co.uk, is an entrepreneur with a laser focus on simplicity and great results. His vehicle background check website has become the most successful website in the UK in his niche. David has built the foundation for his software based of seven lean principles, which he’ll discuss during our conversation. In this episode, David explains how he runs his company with only two employees, his advice for new software entrepreneurs and the books that have given him the insight for this accolade of success. This is The Lean Commerce Podcast. TOPICS: How did you get started with your business? 0:57 I had a more normal career starting off, but I always had an entrepreneurial spirit. My parents accidentally bought a stolen car and I realized there was a problem that needed to be solved, people needed to be able to run a background check on a car. 4:17 Once you get the wheels rolling, you start to get momentum. Very quickly people started to realize what we were doing was different than what other vehicle background check websites were doing and business started to grow from there. 6:33 Even in darker times, there is opportunity. It sounds spiritual, but the experience of my parent’s buying the stolen car was an epiphany for me. When I look back, it all seems kind of unbelievable that something so fortunate was built from such a negative experience. If you have a passion for something and genuinely enjoy doing it, it really helps you to become successful. 13:06 I think if you are consistent in what you want to do, you generally get results in the end. If you stay consistent in those principles and approach, you come out well in the end. You’re checking two thirds of all of the vehicles in the UK, what does the backend of your business look like? 15:55 Pretty much from day one, we’ve done this with only two staff members (including myself). This works because of two rules. The first is, we automate ruthlessly. People tend to skip over this because the initial effort is difficult, but the cost saving over five years is incredible. The second is, outsource wherever you can. Our accounts, legal, HR, design and development are all outsourced. This gives you much more flexibility. What are your lean development principles? 20:22 My lean business strategy comes from the seven principles outlined in Lean Software Development by Mary Poppendieck. First, eliminate all waste. Second, amplify learning by teaching your entire team, not just yourself. Third, make decisions as late as possible. Fourth, deliver as quickly as possible. Fifth, empower the team. Sixth, build integrity. Seventh, see the whole picture. Marketing techniques that worked before, don’t always work now. How do you work around this problem? 35:56 It’s frustrating because you don’t know if it’s the market changing or if you did something wrong. But, that’s the beauty of what we do. It was formulaic, it would be easy. That’s how the best have their advantage because they are able to discover the variables to focus on and the variables to ignore. 38:40 Whenever I’m pouring over the numbers, I try to ground myself by asking, “What am I doing this for?” and remind myself that I’m doing this so I can spend more time with my family. I don’t want to get lost in my work and have it be the center of everything that I do. This work has that effect on us and if we’re not careful, it can become addictive and habitual. 43:46 Throwing hours at a project doesn’t fix anything. It doesn’t achieve anything. You need to be creative and innovate. Spend your time wisely instead of in this false culture of hustle and working nine hours a day for six days a week. What tactics do you use to get reviews? 45:38 We incentive people to leave reviews by giving them a check voucher for $199, using copy that asks users to leave a review and we giveaway free information to users who create an account with us. On the show this week we have one of the leading copywriters in Australia on the show. Alexi Neocleous has generated hundreds of millions in sales and has tutored a whole host of rockstar writers down the years. It was great to hear from someone with such a no-nonsense approach – anyone in business can take something from what Alexi said to Ben.   See some of Alexi’s top tips below: **  Every business needs more ‘copy thinkers’, i.e. thinking about the audience, thinking about the market, thinking about the clients. **  Consider the individual. You will only convert if your copy can relate to the pain points/aspirations of the individual. **  Find an individual that you know really well that falls into your market and then imagine you are crafting your message to that individual. **  Start with the AIDA formula. Attention, Interest, Desire, Action. **  When writing headlines, relevance to the reader is more important than length and wit.   In this episode of Business Brain Food you will learn: **  When do you need copywriting? **  Avatars explained **  Long form V short form copy **  Is direct mail still relevant? **  The right length of headlines in 2018 **  The worth of headline generators   Resources mentioned in this episode: **  Do you have what it takes to be a Business Excelerator at Max My Profit? The Modern Marketing podcast is big on equipping you with the best tactics and strategies you need to market and grow your business. But the toolkit wouldn’t be complete without addressing the very instrument that makes strategy effective — your mindset.   Before you shy away, understand this episode’s guest is a far cry from the woo-woo type. However, he’s learned a thing or two about the role your mental game plays in achieving success.    Chris Evans is the co-founder of Traffic and Funnels and along with business partner Taylor, has grown their agency and consulting business from zero to over five million in revenue in under 23 months. With results like that, you might think about giving this mindset thing a shot. Get ready for a behind the scenes look at what it takes to overcome the mental challenges that stand between you and the business of your dreams.   Episode discussions: Dealing with the challenges of scaling a business fast Why ‘guru’ launches and sales are plummeting The biggest roadblock preventing you from success Getting over the fear of cutting out products and services from your business When family and close friends tear you down Choosing appropriate role models Why one thrives and one doesn't get off the ground using the same strategy Recalibrating your mindset with the Morning Formula How Chris exploded from $30K to $100K in one month How to narrow down your offers an increase your income Why you’re not charging enough and how it affects your reputation How to make better decisions using less emotion Position yourself to be well equipped for the direction of marketing The major mistake people make when scaling a business Arrogance, remaining humble, and not getting too big for your britches Comparison is an effective tool How you convince yourself you're capable of achieving big goals after a lifetime of not achieving that goal Sophistication levels of the market according to Eugene Schwartz and how it impacts the future of marketing     2:36 Chris’s Story: Used to write copy and build infrastructures for successful launches Taylor wrote copy and built funnels for well-known people Teamed up 2 years ago and launched Traffic and Funnels with nothing but experience as experts ($0) Grew to a $5 million-dollar business Faced new challenges scaling that quickly   5:31 "The biggest thing that's going to stop you from getting to $100K a month is you." 8:07 "Strategies and tactics, to me, are garbage if you don't have the right mental game." 8:31 Morning Formula A design where every day you have a picture of what it is you want to accomplish. The brain can't tell the difference between something you're imagining versus something you experience. So, practice where you want to be.   9:26 Step #1: Correct your belief system Shift from thinking goals are too unrealistic to believing your goals are possible to achieve.   10:24 How do you actually convince yourself that you're capable of achieving big goals after a lifetime of not having achieved that goal yet?   10:48 Step #2: Surround yourself with the right people Exchange your relationships Optimize your environment for success with like-minded, high achievers Possibilities become tangible   15:04 Step #3: Offer less and specialize Hone your focus on one kind of client and one result Focus your marketing and messaging Dial in and scale your offer "Every time my business [experienced] a significant jump, it's always been when I've cut something out. It's never been when I've added a new service." 20:49 Your prices reflect how much you value yourself Most people are grossly undercharging. Odds are, you're doing a much better job than you think you are and your clients already appreciate you. There's a huge margin that you're leaving on the table. "Some people come to us and they're working way too many hours for very few dollars and they're burnt out, frustrated, pissed off, hate their clients, and a lot of times they're just not charging enough." 21:49 Step #4: Have the right people on your team Audit what you're doing and what your time is spent on every day. Look at what you can delegate to somebody else. Hire the right people for the right time of business. Keep your head on straight and make sure your clients are getting results.  “People think they're saving money [doing everything themselves] but actually they're losing and leaving a lot of money on the table.” 24:35 The major mistake people make when scaling their business is not understanding their numbers.   26:09 Remove the emotion-based decision making and make better-educated decisions.   27:52 Having a learner's mindset Never make the mistake of thinking you have everything figured out. Reach out to others when you can’t see through the fog. There is always something else you can learn, grow, and improve on.   28:11 Gaining perspective with comparison Entrepreneurs at any level tend to magnify the negative things in their business. Realign your perspective by reading about people who have bigger problems than you. When things are bad, someone always has it worse. When things are good, there's always that next level you can take it to. It's a balancing act.   29:43 Chris’s marketing forecast: Authenticity FTW: The market is losing trust in so-called ‘experts’ and starving for authenticity. The more authentic, real, honest and truthful you are, the more competitive you’ll be Increasing sophistication levels of the market (Eugene Schwartz concept) Branding connects with direct response Successful people will spend a lot of their time, capital, and equity building brands of trustworthiness More emphasis on content development as a means to provide value and earn loyalty "Direct response you can write a killer headline, grab someone by the throat, and get them to buy. It’s not the case anymore.”   How Chris and Taylor are keeping up: A YouTube show giving people a behind the scenes look at the good, bad, ugly, beautiful, hilarious, and not hilarious aspects of their business.   Mentioned in this episode: Traffic and Funnels Website Smartest Guys in Marketing Facebook Group Psychocybernetics - By Maxwell Maltz The Magic of Thinking Big - By David J Schwartz Breakthrough Advertising – By Eugene M.
