Steve talks about the effect of Arizona holding the ball and keeping Will Rogers and the offense off the field a lot in the second half. Steve talks about how the Arizona defense was able to bring pressure up the middle and Steve talks about the Wildcats blitzing every time Mike Wright was at QB. Bo asks Steve about the coaching from Zach Arnett and Steve thought that Arnett should have called more timeouts in the first half to help Will Rogers and Tulu Griffin get on the same page. Steve tells Bo that he was impressed with how Trevion Williams and John Lewis played but they struggled at times to get Jayden de Lura to the ground. Bo asks Steve about LSU coming in town and Steve says that MSU needs to work on running wide to spread the field more for Will Rogers. Steve talks about how you can't play conservative and still beat LSU and thinks that the offense needs to throw some haymakers to make a difference. Steve talks about if Zavion Thomas is healthy for MSU and how far away he is from being 100%. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

When we refuse to stay stuck and we continually move forward, we will create something of worth. To fuel this pursuit, we need to be both savage and sage. We need to be fearless. In this episode, I (Daniel) discussed this truth with Steve Johns, the CEO of OneCause and the author of Fearless: Leadership Lessons at the Crossroads. Scaling Lessons from the Jeff Bezos Letters with Steve Anderson In a rapidly changing market, the need to experiment and test new ideas is more important than ever. Businesses that stick to the formula they've always done will fall behind, while those that take risks have a much higher chance of scaling beyond 8-figures. Strategic risk expert and author Steve Anderson joins this new week's episode to share his powerful insights into the mind behind one of the world's biggest companies. He talks about how to leverage risk, prioritize customers, the value of choosing product experimentation, not innovation, and more. Tune in to this insightful new episode ▶️ Scaling Lessons from the Jeff Bezos Letters with Steve Anderson. Key points covered in this episode: ✔️There's much to learn from disruptive companies that have come and gone. There is more we should duplicate from those that sustain the lead, like Amazon. Steve Anderson shares how his interest was piqued by reading every shareholder letter from 1997 to 2017 by Amazon champion Jeff Bezos. He created a book from that wealth of valuable information that became a Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and international bestseller. ✔️ Adapt Bezos' Day 1 Mindset. The idea of day one is a thread that goes through every letter he writes. "It's not a day, but this mindset of going into your business every day and thinking, this is the first day we're in business. The excitement, the challenge, the how do we serve our customers best? And that mindset really is infused throughout Amazon still to this day." ✔️ "To be the Earth's most customer-centric company." Amazon created multiple billion-dollar businesses by being willing to think about the customer first. Steve shares how Bezos uses the phrase frequently and invents new solutions on the customer's behalf. The Kindle, for example, completely changed the publishing business. "Did they innovate on the book, or did they invent a whole new way of consuming books? When Jeff talks about the Kindle, he says they had the audacious goal of replacing the book that's been around for 500 years and being able to start reading a book in 60 seconds or less; that was the goal." ✔️Encouraging successful failure. Bezos always emphasized the need to build a company culture that allows experimentation to take place without punishment. "Employees know that they can try out new ideas, test them, even the crazy ones that actually could work. Bezos says that you will fail when you do an experiment when you're testing something by its very nature. An experiment means you don't know the outcome. And if you know the outcome, it's not an experiment." Steve Anderson, MA, is a trusted authority on Risk, Technology, Productivity, and Innovation and has over thirty-five years of experience in the insurance industry. He holds a master's degree in Insurance Law. Anderson is a professional speaker, writer, and "futurist." His speaking portfolio includes presentations on the future of technology, the influence of social platforms, how businesses can leverage the internet, and how they can assess and use risk to their advantage. Things are going super over in the United Kingdom, jokes Molly Jong-Fast to British journalist Ian Dunt on this episode of The New Abnormal podcast. Dunt broke down the events that led to the U.K. Prime Minister's resignation as well as whether or not he thinks Boris Johnson will still hold the title by the fall and the state of U.K. politics—and whether there's a chance to actually reverse Brexit. Then, CNBC Fast Money contributor Dan Nathan explains why a recession might actually be a good thing, and that it's what the federal government likely wants. “Sadly they need the economy almost to go in a recession for inflation to come down meaningfully,” he says. Plus! Molly and co-host Andy Levy shoot the shit about Elon Musk hurting Trump's feelings, Biden's dumb move to swing “left,” and the one thing that'll actually maybe get Steve Bannon to testify in front of the Jan. 6 committee. COVID-19 has challenged club managers, and their teams to suddenly adjust to a new work environment – for example, social distancing, remote working, taking on the jobs of absent workers, and being able to respond quickly to changing needs and to make smart decisions to keep the business of the club running. Team members were asked to step in and take on new responsibilities, even if they did not have the skill sets for those jobs. Now, as clubs are settling into a “new normal” routine for doing business, savvy club managers have a better feel for what skills are crucial to maintaining operations and staying in business. Many of these skills are “soft” skills related to interpersonal connection, informed and confident decision making, and the ability to communicate more effectively in a post COVID world. In this episode of The GIG Podcast, we are joined by the Australian based corporate trainer Steve Herzberg, Managing Partner of NRG Solutions as we talk about many relevant topics club GM's are faced with in this day and age including how to coach, guide, and communicate with your millennial team members, top tips for GM's on how to effectively communicate online when presenting to your board and team members, the importance of being present when communicating with others, and how to deal with the unnecessary and ridiculous complaints you've received from members and guests during these most challenging times of running a club.Highlights from this episode of The GIG Podcast that you don't want to miss include:7:37 – Hear Steve's thoughts on the state of the industry right now in Australia where they've just come out of lockdown.13:35 – Find out the differences in the conversations that are being had at clubs by GM's today in comparison to before the start of the pandemic.22:14 – Listen to how to coach, guide & communicate with Millennial team members, and help them to develop into “people” people.24:54 – Learn about the first thing Steve warns GM's about when communicating online and delivering team member training and board presentations via live video.31:12 – Get Steve's top tips for presenting virtually to your membership or team members when you're the GM.39:23 – Hear an “Above & Beyond” story that illustrates the importance of being in the moment and why that is so important today when you're the GM of a club.46:57 – Learn about the acronym R.A.I.L. and how you can use it to remember people's names when you meet them for the first time.53:29 – Hear Steve's advice for any club manager for how to deal with the unnecessary and sometimes ridiculous negativity that members and guests express from time to time during these most challenging times of running a club.About Steve HerzbergSteve Herzberg has been working as corporate trainer since 2000, establishing his own company, NRG Solutions in 2005. After all, cupid is kinda cute so why not get a few tips on loving what you got instead of hating what you don't have. As the times changed and he gained greater self acceptance he re-ignited his dream for a family and stared the journey toward parenthood. Topic - Neurology versus Personhood. When I explained Steve's learning and behavioral problems to him, I focused on how his brain works. In this way, he learned to think about his school challenges as not being related to “who” he is as a person, but rather to the way his brain works. It's a “me” versus “my brain” mentality. Separating neurology from the “sense of personhood” is a game changer. Instead of seeing himself as “stupid”, he can “blame his brain” and understand how his neurology keeps him from “showing what he knows”. More importantly, he understands the steps he needs to take to turn in his best performance. This “assignment” of blame and sense of control goes far to reduce anxiety which, in and of itself, will improve his attitude and grades. Get Steve the information he needs to help him understand and take charge of his school performance. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/drclaudia/message
What a pleasure it is to welcome back Steve Sims to the show. It’s hard to know where to start with Steve – he’s just done so much – but we’ll quickly summarise him as ‘a man who makes dreams come true’. His company, Blue Fish, specialises in creating unique life experiences for its clients. Since we last spoke to Steve he has sent someone to a space station, placed clients backstage with the likes of ZZ Top and Guns & Roses, and sent someone to Monte Carlo to be James Bond for the weekend. Steve has also written a book called “Blue Fishing” which he talks to us about. See below for some of Steve’s advice on how to make the impossible possible: ** Stop listening to that idiot on your shoulder saying ‘no’. If you think you can’t, you’re right. ** When trying to pull off an unlikely experience, approach it like this: “I’ve always wanted to do this, what has to happen for this to happen?” Don’t walk straight in with money because people don’t want to feel like they’ve been sold. ** Email is dead. Pick up the phone and leave a voice memo. This is a non-intrusive way of building a rapport with busy people. ** Relationships are everything. Do every single thing you can to build and retain good relationships. In this episode of Business Brain Food you will learn: ** How to court celebrities ** How to build relationships that work ** The power of voice memos ** Steve’s colourful track record ** A summary of Steve’s new book, Blue Fishing ** How to leave a voice memo Resources mentioned in this episode: ** Ben’s free business planning template can be downloaded from http://www.maxmyprofit.com.au ** Get Steve’s book, Blue Fishing, from http://www.stevedsims.com ** All previous BBF episodes & show notes can be found at http://www.businessbrainfood.com.au ** Twitter: https://twitter.com/bfewtrell Call to action: Remember Steve’s point about that ‘idiot’ on your shoulder. Don’t concentrate on the reasons why not, concentrate on the reasons why! Also, if you are enjoying these Business Brain Food podcasts, then make sure to share them via social media sites or email the links to family and friends. A lot of time and effort goes into producing each of these podcasts with the goal in mind of the more people we can inspire about business the better. You can help us do just that! Until next time, have a profitable day! Cheers, Ben Fewtrell (02) 9111 5000
Episode 21 features an interview with Steve Weins. Steve is the author of Whole and Beginnings. He is the pastor of Genesis Covenant Church and had a podcast called This Good Word. This interview is packed with great stuff - what an amazing conversation! We spend most of the time speaking about Steve's latest book, but it is a pretty free wheeling conversation. So much fun!Get Steve's latest book, Whole: Restoring What is Broken in Me, You, and The Entire World Some of What We Talk About:The wide inclusivity of restoration. What is broken and why do we need restoration?Shalom as wholeness (restoring what is broken)Moving to wholeness is a hopeful journeyThe arc that shoots through all of scripture is restorationWhat is the difference between a self-improvement project and a journey? How you find joy in the everyday, and why is joy important? He asked Eugene Peterson, “what do you think pastors are struggling with today?” The answer is so great, and tough to hear. What is the connection between the promised land and restoration, and why do we need to be strong and courageous in entering the promised land?We talked a lot about the temptation of Jesus, and what it means to think of Jesus as weak when we relate to him.Laying down the need to be seen as successful.Quotes in this Episode“Faith is a lot more about mystery than it is about mastery."“Mystery is not something we can never understand, it's something that we can endlessly understand.” Richard Rohr"What if pastors are supposed to be the people who model how to rest well…”"The promised land is not where all of our problems are solved... It is the place where you remember what it was like to be a slave and you begin fighting for the restoration of others.”“Thank God that God doesn't wait for perfect motivation.”"There are things that need to change in me; they just won't be changed by feeling bad about myself or trying really hardto fix them. That isn't how wholeness works. The journey of wholeness is not a self-improvement project. It's a journey of loss, trust, transformation, and eventually hope.” from Whole"...my own joy and enjoyment matter in measuring at least some of the metrics for indicating a successful Steve. We discuss parenting, high school "Most Likely" awards, Chase and Jordan going to a purity conference that didn't work, becoming a dad in high school, one of us will do a STF™ "set" at open-mic night at a relatively local comedy club (in the works), and much more. So, as always, if you like listening to country folks talking about whatever, then this is your podcast. Give it a listen, and don't forget to leave a 5-star review on iTunes to be our STF™ ITunes Review contest. Believe it or not, it helps! Steve is a one-man band, overdubbing his compositions both in jazz (steel drum!) and pop/rock (featuring his unique and sometimes disco-high voice). He's also drummed and/or fronted bands (including one in college with your host Mark). The common thread through all of this is a love of his craft: a dedication to creation in the studio, whether or not anyone hears the result. We discuss "P.I." from his last original full pop album to date, Acoustinaut (2002); his jazz number "Perseverence" from the 2013 EP Where You Going with That?; and "Darkness" from his full-band album BAMF! (1997). Plus we hear the 2012 single "Warren Zombie Apocalypse." Get Steve's music at www.cdbaby.com/Artist/StevePetrinko. Hear more Nakedly Examined Music.
