Jill and Tom opened this holiday episode of the podcast by discussing how the residents of Skokie, Illinois, mount huge light-up menorahs on the roofs of their cars in celebration of Hanukkah. Tom vowed to do the same next season. The hosts went on to discuss a massive Honda/Acura recall, and the echoes of the giant Takata airbag recall which still haunts the industry. Jill shared her thoughts about the massive—and massively expensive—Ford F-350 King Ranch pickup truck she recently evaluated. The review included a conversation regarding the benefits of opting for the single-rear wheel (SRW) option. In the second segment, Sam Fiorani of AutoForecast Solutions joins Jill and Tom to review the most noteworthy stories of the year. Sam recalled the UAW strike, slowing EV demand growth, growing vehicle inventories, and strong car sales. We also learned that Sam once owned a Merkur XR4Ti. In the last segment Jill is subjected to Tom's “Station Wagon or Omaha Suburb” quiz, which was followed by a brief discussion of Jill's favorite test-vehicles of 2023.
On this episode We start at pretty much the start of Honda Challenge and how it led to the series that is now Honda Challenge. Huge shout out to Scott Giles and Karl Shultz for being the big part of the start of Honda Challenge and for giving Matt Bookler the go ahead to talk about this and the controversial takeover of the series. I enjoyed talking to Matt about "Bookler flaggers" and about being that prelude kid known to crushed Porsche egos all over the northeast track scene.

In today's show, we have a story that will resonate with both industry experts and electric vehicle enthusiasts alike. We're talking about Honda and Acura's decision to adopt Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) and how General Motors played a crucial part in this monumental decision. In the world of electric vehicles, charging infrastructure is paramount. Honda and Acura's decision to integrate Tesla's NACS connector in their upcoming EV releases over the next few years is a testament to the collaboration and unification within the automotive industry. It's a story of shared vision, innovation, and a common goal to provide better accessibility and maintenance of charging infrastructure for EV owners.

Today I am sitting down with the Director of Electrify Showoff Neil Tjin. Neil has been involved in the automotive space since 1995. He started with designing and building cars in the 10th grade as a hobby and quickly turned it into a business. Over the years he has been in sales manager roles, marketing director roles, head of technology for NDRA and NIRA, and consulted for major brands. Neil was the magazine editor for 8 years for HCI and B/Scene magazines, and he has worked with a ton of OEMs, including: Toyota/Scion, Honda/Acura, Chevy/Pontiac, Hyundai, Ford, Porsche and Dodge. Neil ran the Tjin Edition RoadShow for 15 years (doing over 250 shows nationally), and has built and designed over 170 cars for SEMA. Last year, his Mach E Mustang won Best Ford over the entire show. Within the nationally touring Electrify Expo is the Electrify Showoff car show, which Neil has built from the ground up. I will be joining the show in San Francisco in a couple weeks, and so Neil and I sat down ahead of time to talk more about what is in store, and what the future looks like for Showoff and car culture in general. I had a blast chatting with Neil, and I hope you all enjoy too!Links:Electrify Showoff WebsiteElectrify Showoff InstagramElectrify Showoff YouTubeElectrify Expo InstagramElectrify Expo YouTube
PITWALK-Chefredakteur Norbert Ockenga fasst in diesem PITCAST – also dem Podcast Eurer Lieblingszeitschrift PITWALK https://www.pitwalk.de/pitwalk – beide Rennen zusammen.
The all-new 2023 Kia Niro EV we just tested is the value-priced portion the brand's global effort to become a big-time competitor to Tesla Motors and the world other important electric-vehicle makers. The Kia EV6 is Kia's flagship battery-electric offering, but the Niro EV deserves headlines as the “affordable” entrant in the market. Within a few years, Kia hopes that the majority of its sales will come from battery-electric vehicles. The all-new 2023 Niro EV we tested is the second-generation Niro battery electric, part of a trio of brand-new Niros that also includes a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. Kia product planner Mark Savino told Host Jack Nerad Kia expects the Niro EV will grab about a quarter of the model's total sales when production is normalized. Expected to be priced at less than $40,000, the Niro EV will be available in Kia dealers in all 50 states. With its single 201-horsepower permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, the Niro offers 188 lb-ft of torque and a 113 MPGe fuel-economy equivalent. According to Kia, range of a full charge for the 2023 Niro EV is 253 miles. When connected to a DC fast charger, the Niro EV can take on an 80 percent charge in less than 45 minutes, excellent charging performance. For those interested in more conventional performance, Co-Host Chris Teague tests the all-new 2023 Acura Integra this week. The name itself is a headline. In years past the Acura Integra was one of the brand's most popular and evocative models. But it was discontinued as Acura pursued an alphabetic naming scheme for its vehicles. Now it is back, and it offers some of the best pieces from the Honda-Acura parts bin. Drawing heavily on the basics of the North American Car of the Year Honda Civic, it features the Civic Si's turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which can be backed by a CVT (Boo) or a 6-speed manual transmission (Yay!) With 200 horsepower on tap, the new Integra promised to be an exciting platform to wind through the fall colors of New England in October. And Teague will tell us all about it. Our interview guest this week is Jeep Vice President of Product Marketing Tavon Brooks. The occasion for the interview was the introduction and press drive of the new long-wheelbase Grand Wagoneer L and Wagoneerr L. It took place in and around Bozeman, Montana, right at the gates of Yellowstone. In the news, car prices are leveling off, but new problems are on the horizon for car buyers, and we'll detail them for you. And Hyundai has announced a big, bold plan to offer the public “software-defined vehicles.” We'll tell you what that means and discuss how it could affect you in the future. Our guess is you might not like the idea. All that and more coming up in this episode of “America on the Road.”

Hello everyone and welcome to 67, featuring a hell of a Honda maestro by the name of Tyson Hugie. This was such a relatable episode for me, having a family background with several Honda models. Chances are, if you're apart of a brown family that was on the up n' up during the 90s then you too, can relate. The Phoenix based Tyson is somewhat of a declared Honda historian and currently sits on a lovley rotating collection of Honda/Acura models that evade us in regularity these days. When's the last time you saw a showroom fresh DA Integra or an SLX? I bet the most of you haven't even seen an SLX, or a first generation Legend out and about. I bet if you have, we're talking decades since they were in freshly manufacturered condition. The Honda addiction has turned into a bit of a dream side quest, and this is the part I want you all to truly feel the inspiration from just as I did. He took his enthusiasm so far to the point that Honda themselves gave the guy recognition and let him spec a car for a long term test, and then mailed him the title after the testing period was complete. How cool is that? What about riding in the backseat of your own car while Jay Leno drives you down a canyon road in it? Never know where your passion will take you. Be it in the gym, on the road, or smoking up and relaxing- enjoy this very special episode. Intro & exit track provided by the talented @ArifOmariandFranklinproduction squad. Thanks gents
Honda Acura killed the bloodline of the Integra. The new car largely failed in so many ways.

Gears and Beers: The Unashamedly Unprofessional Automotive Podcast
Hey, look at that, this episode is up on the right day! Fancy that. There's some actual automotive news this week, which is a nice change of pace, and is very welcome. We kick off the news with the new Toyota GazooRacing 86, the naturally aspirated FA24 powered successor to the wonderful GT86. We then talk about the new "400" Zed, with a 400hp twin-turbo V6, designed to tackle the MkV Supra with a proper 6-speed manual, and Barra-swapped Mustangs, then Matt makes one of his biggest takes by arguing that the General Motors LS-engine is the best engine of all time. We then talk about the new Aventador-based 6.5L V12 with electric-assist 803hp Lamborghini Countach, which we all very much like. We briefly then talk about Honda/Acura teasing a new Integra for 2022, but we don't know anything about it yet, and then we talk about the Land Rover Defender getting a big whomping V8 which will be coming to Australia.... If you have f#ck you money at $210,000 AUD. We then end on the Car World Cup, and in this week, we're in France. For this episode I spoke to Tamara Williams about the death of Mark "Bizz" Williams, her twin brother. It was a hot summer day on July 31, 2014 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania when a construction worker came upon a dead body in the 7300 block of Bennett Street in Homewood. The victim, was a 48-year-old man named Mark Williams. He was laying face down in the grass. Someone had killed him with a single shot to his head. It’s believed he was killed several hours before his body was found. According to Pittsburgh authorities, a neighbor reported that she heard a gunshot about 11:45 p.m. the night before. She looked out her window and saw a black Honda Acura driving away from the scene. It’s been over 4 years since Bizz was murdered and his sister still has no answers. Can you help Tamara get answers and uncover the truth about Mark's death? There is a $30K reward for any valuable tips that lead to the arrest and conviction of Mark's killer(s). If you have a tip, please submit it to either Crimestoppers at 412-255-8477 or the Pittsburgh police at (412) 665-3605. And remember, you can also leave an anonymous tip if you choose. And be sure to visit Mark's Facebook page (Justice for Mark Williams) for additional information: Please be sure to visit my website for more information about my true crime and paranormal newspaper columns at www.themarcabe.com. Listen to Joe in Episode 73 (https://remarkableresults.biz/e073/) . Talking Points: If you want Work-Life Balance, first, you have to BELIEVE that it’s possible. Once you believe that it’s possible, you must DECIDE that is what you want and set your INTENTION to make it so. Then design your life around it. You must schedule your time on a calendar Balance is important because you don’t want to be the richest guy in the graveyard. In other words… how much is enough? Commit to doing good things for yourself… hiking, swimming, biking, NOT smoking, etc. Purpose: Knowing your purpose allows you to delegate. Do your job and do it well. – Bill Belichick Priority- “Our actions display our priorities regardless of what we say.” Good is the enemy of great. Jim Collins Pay attention to your spouse and children. Use reminders each week to stay on top of your family commitments. We all know somebody who has lost their relationship to the inevitable “rub” between your responsibilities as a business owner and as a father/spouse. In some cases, the business becomes “the other woman”. Greg Skolnik plans 12 key areas of his life every Monday morning so he can give attention to them each week. You get to start over tomorrow morning. ‘Teach your people to fish and they can feed themselves for the rest of their life.’ Plan: Preparing your day makes it productive. Create a task list. OK if you don’t get everything done. OK to add to list during the day. Review your accomplishments at the end of the day. Be in the present, 100%. Be in the moment. When you are at work, be at work. When you are with your spouse, be with your spouse. When you are with your kids, be with your kids. Those are unwritten “laws” that should never be compromised. Jerry Kezhaya’s Five Fs: “Faith, Family, Fitness, Finances, Fun” Give yourself 90 minutes. Get out of the shop. Turn off your phone. Go to the library and spend ninety minutes of pure productive time. (Jerry Kezhaya). Compare the productivity at the library vs your workplace and see who is stealing your time. Swim laps, walk in the woods (get tree energy), get exercise and find your quiet moment. (Greg Skolnik)...
