Pár minút po preťatí cieľovej pásky na Elyzejských poliach však už začal spriadať plány na vystúpenie z tejto mikroskupinky. To znamená jediné, atak na minimálne ďalší titul. Etappe der Tour de France 2026 führte das Fahrerfeld über 127,9 Kilometer von Gap hinauf zur legendären Bergankunft in Alpe d'Huez. Obwohl die Etappe vergleichsweise kurz war, entwickelte sie sich zu einem spektakulären Schlagabtausch in den Alpen. Früh setzte sich eine starke Ausreißergruppe vom Feld ab und erarbeitete sich einen Vorsprung von mehreren Minuten. Doch das hohe Tempo des UAE Team Emirates-XRG ließ den Abstand im Finale kontinuierlich schrumpfen.Am Col d'Ornon startete Tadej Pogačar seine entscheidende Offensive. Vandaag moeten we het hebben over de knaltijd van Tadej Pogacar die zijn eindzege nog eens extra kleur geeft. Etappe der Tour de France führte über 174,7 Kilometer von Chambéry nach Voiron und galt als Übergangsetappe vor den entscheidenden Alpenetappen. Dennoch entwickelte sich das Rennen zu einem schnellen und taktisch geprägten Schlagabtausch. Bereits kurz nach dem Start kam es zu zahlreichen Angriffen, wodurch sich zeitweise eine größere Ausreißergruppe bilden konnte. Das Hauptfeld kontrollierte den Vorsprung jedoch konsequent, sodass die letzten Ausreißer kurz vor dem Ziel wieder eingeholt wurden.Im abschließenden Massensprint setzte sich Jasper Philipsen vom Team Alpecin–Deceuninck durch. Dank einer perfekten Vorbereitung seines Teamkollegen Mathieu van der Poel gewann er vor Mauro Schmid und Olav Kooij. Wat jarenlang bekendstond als RIDE Magazine, gaat vanaf deze editie verder onder de nieuwe naam Wielerflits Magazine. De mijlpaal werd gevierd bij Canyon en Concourse Zuid in Amsterdam met een live podcast, een netwerkborrel en als bijzondere gasten oud-profs Steven Rooks en Michel Cornelisse.De naamswijziging hing al langer in de lucht, maar nu was er dan ook echt de lancering. Hoofdredacteur Maxim Horssels, RIDE-oprichter Rodrick de Munnik en hoofdverslaggever Raymond Kerckhoffs namen samen die stap. "Eigenlijk had ik het zelf als optie afgeschoten," gaf Horssels toe tijdens de live podcast. Maar de logica bleek onweerlegbaar.De Munnik vertelde hoe hij het omslagpunt beleefde: tijdens een dag in de neutrale auto van Shimano (de reportage staat in dit zomernummer) vroeg de neutrale auto-chaffeur waar hij voor werkte. "RIDE Magazine," zei De Munnik. "Nooit van gehoord," was het antwoord.  Toen Roderick toevoegde dat het het tijdschrift van Wielerflits was, was de reactie direct: "Oh, Wielerflits!" Kerckhoffs vulde aan dat twee namen in leven houden gewoon niet meer werkte: dubbele social accounts, dubbele banners, dubbele inspanning. "En nu staat de naam Wielerflits ook op het magazine."Het inhoudelijke hart van de middag was de live podcastopname, waarbij Steven Rooks en Michel Cornelisse aanschoven. De gesprekken gingen van de zwaarte van moderne parcoursen — Raymond schreef er een opiniestuk over in het nieuwe nummer — tot de vraag of Jonas Vingegaard dit jaar dichter bij Tadej Pogačar kan komen in de Tour de France. Rooks, die in 1988 als Noord-Hollander de bergtrui won op Alpe d'Huez, sprak met merkbare nostalgie over die overwinning. "Dat reporters en verslaggevers zo enthousiast zijn, terwijl jij op dat moment bezig bent met de finish, dat merk je pas later. Leo Driessen, die destijds op de motor zat voor Radio Tour de France, is inmiddels een goede vriend. Ik heb het bandje van die opname nog."Cornelisse, die de Tour nooit als renner reed maar er wel als ploegleider bij was, haalde zijn mooiste herinnering op: de eerste gele trui van Mathieu van der Poel op de Mûr de Bretagne. "We zaten in de auto: wat ben je nou aan het doen, man? Iedereen die daar demarreerde, werd er gelijk afgereden. En hij deed het gewoon twee keer."De lancering vond plaats in het pand van Concourse Zuid in Amsterdam, waar de enige Canyon Experience Partner van Nederland te vinden is. In het nieuwe nummer lees je een uitgebreid interview met Canyon-CEO Roman Arnold. Door Roderick omschreven als een van de meest indrukwekkende ondernemersverhalen in de fietswereld. "Vanuit de achterbak van zijn auto is hij begonnen. 26 stappen verder is daar Canyon uitgekomen."Na afloop van de podcast was er ruim tijd voor een netwerkborrel, waar wielerfans, abonnees en mensen uit de fietsbranche met elkaar bijpraatten.
