Elle commence à renquêter sur le crime et à remettre en question la culpabilité de Warren Cave, ce qui va chambouler sa vie. Un pan de vie autour d'Amahle "Amy" Wheeler (interprétée par une Zoe Saldaña solaire), une étudiante américaine qui étudie en Italie, et qui tombe amoureuse… Seulement voilà, ses parents ne veulent pas qu'elle étudie l'art, ne cautionnent pas sa relation avec un chef, souhaitent son retour aux États-Unis tandis que les sentiments d'Amy et Lino (Eugenio Mastrandrea) ne sont que plus forts. From Scratch est clairement une série sur l'amour et la beauté de ce sentiment. Des années s'écoulent et la fluctuation des sentiments vont les amener à s'éloigner pour mieux se rapprocher. Entre clash des cultures, aléas de la vie et tiraillement, ils vont devoir faire face à tous ces obstacles et prendre des décisions. Dans sa quête pour retrouver les pièces du puzzle - avec l'aide de son mari et de ses amis - Sophie commence à se poser des questions sur la vie un peu trop parfaite qu'elle menait auparavant. Est-ce que la relation avec son mari est aussi aimante qu'il le lui dit ? Surtout si visiblement son trauma aurait été causé par une tentative de suicide. Ses amies sont-elles vraiment ses amies ? Kathleen told me all about the role of the author when their work is adapted for the big screen, talking to her producer AKA REESE WITHERSPOON on a conference call(!!!), our mutual love for Lizzy Caplan and the cult-esque film Bachelorette (seriously watch it if you've never seen) and how Isla Fischer inspired the protagonist in her second novel.

Kathleen's novel (first released as Are You Sleeping) grew out of her fascination with the true-crime podcast Serial which she juxtaposed with a NaNoWiMo story line involving characters she’d been writing about since high school. The result was a hugely successful debut which sold at auction, went on to be optioned by Reese Witherspoon, and was the basis for Apple TV’s 2019 streaming series Truth Be Told, starring Octavia Spencer, Lizzy Caplan, and Aaron Paul. She's a former attorney, incurable wanderer, and yoga enthusiast. Originally from Galesburg, Illinois, she is a graduate of the University of Illinois and Northwestern University School of Law.
