The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: According to the non-partisan academic study of the Texas House in operation this year by Mark Jones at Rice University's James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy, Lubbock's state Rep. Dustin Burrows was the most Left-of-GOP-center state rep from NW Texas. That is a shocking change but understandable in what I've observed in a general attitude of being part of the leadership team (Phelan, et. al. / big man on campus syndrome) being more important than much of anything else. It is sad but I've watched it up close – and more sadly, it's not the first time I've witnessed such at close range.Consistent with past sessions is that a good number of state reps from NW Texas, supposedly the most conservative part of the state, are also Left-of-GOP-center. Representatives such as Abilene's Stan Lambert; Odessa's Brooks Landgraf; Amarillo's Four Price; Wichita Falls' James Frank; Canadian's Ken King, and; San Angelo's Drew Darby. (Price, King, and Darby have always been among the most non-conservative Republican state reps.)Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.Not only did the Texas House spend a million MORE on impeachment than what the Paxton-AG Office employee settlement would have cost, the House committee run by Rep. The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: Texas House today debating an amendment to strip all school choice from HB1, the school choice bill: A lying dog-and-pony show of demagoguery from the same old cohort of RINOs and Democrats who often work to let Democrats win and sink conservative legislation. The “stripping amendment” from Rep. Raney, putative Republican, was nothing but a prop-up of the Left-leaning and overspending government school lobby. It passed to kill school choice 84 to 63. Texas House Passes Ban on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Offices in Public Higher Education. Lean In With The Kings is a platform focused on Marriage, Family and Fitness. Grow Up Wild is about the experience of others from a range of physical fitness, marriage, family, mental health, and individual growth. Dominique and Ken King are from Northern California, and have three children. Dominique and Ken's goal is to reach people who are looking for a platform that deals with everyday issues of marriage, family, relationships, fitness while trying to hold onto their individual growth. They created these platforms to share experiences, advice while offering support, a shoulder and an ear. This is their true passion. Dominique has always been a runner. Running has intertwined itself in her life at various stages. Growing up she used running as a way to escape her home environment. She used to run and walk between towns trying to make sense of why things shook out the way they did for her. In her older years running was my way of maintaining an unhealthy view of what I thought her body should be. Dominique and I connected via Clubhouse- The Runner's Lounge where she and her husband talk about all things running. She is my second return guest, and today she is with her husband Ken. Ken has always been athletic but not a runner in the true sense. He did run as part of his training but it was not a primary focus. Because it is Dominique's passion and Ken wanted to spend more time with his wife, he decided to join her and now they never miss a Couple's Run Friday Connect with Dominique and Ken Lean In With The Kings site Connect on Instagram Grow Up Wild podcast Listen to Dominique's earlier podcast episode: Dominique King: A Lesson On Running, Marriage and Family Did you enjoy today's episode?
