Email: bidemiologunde@gmail.comIn this episode, host Bidemi Ologunde explores two major stories shaping healthier uses of technology: the rise of smartwatches and AI-enabled health alerts as early-warning tools, and the growing global push for phone-free schools and delayed smartphones for children. Can wearable devices help people notice health risks sooner without replacing doctors? Are school phone bans enough to improve focus, wellbeing, and social connection? And how can families, educators, patients, and product builders use technology with more purpose, restraint, and human judgment?Support the show

Eric Thompson interviews Kayla Carosella, a Cleveland-based brokerage owner and Ninja Coaching client, about how she leveraged the Ninja scorecard to drive extraordinary results. During a six-week scorecard challenge, Kayla averaged 112 points per week, totaling 674 points, and generated five listings, new business opportunities, and recruiting conversations—all directly tied to consistent activity tracking. Kayla emphasizes that the foundation of her success was simple but powerful: consistently hitting 50 live interviews per week. She shares how she creates these opportunities through a combination of hosting networking events, attending community events, and making intentional follow-up calls. Her approach is rooted in genuine curiosity, asking meaningful questions, and focusing on learning something new in every interaction. A key insight from Kayla is that the scorecard didn't just increase her production—it re-energized her business. By adding daily text messages, handwritten notes, and structured follow-up, she reconnected with past relationships and deepened existing ones. The process became fun, competitive, and highly motivating, especially when combined with accountability and gamification. Ultimately, Kayla's story demonstrates that the scorecard is not just a tracking tool—it's a launchpad for consistent activity, stronger relationships, and predictable business growth. Her message is clear: you don't need perfection, you need progress, and everything starts with meaningful conversations. Key Takeaways The key to high scorecard performance is consistently achieving 50 live interviews each week Networking events and community engagement are powerful ways to generate live conversations Simple actions like "you came to my mind" texts can create meaningful reconnections and opportunities Tracking interactions in real time is essential to staying consistent and maximizing results Gamifying activity through challenges increases motivation, consistency, and enjoyment Progress matters more than perfection; small improvements week over week create big results Memorable Quotes "You have to get your 50 live interviews." "Just be a real person." "Be the human that tries the hardest." "It's progress over perfection." Are you looking to break into the Texas real estate market but tired of the heavy competition in the "Triangle" (Dallas, Houston, Austin)? In this episode, we sit down with the "Texas Tax Lien Legend" himself, Arnie Abramson. With over 30 years of experience, Arnie is the former president of the Texas REIA and an acknowledged expert in the unique world of Texas foreclosure auctions. We dive deep into why Texas is a Tax Deed State, not a tax lien state, and why that distinction is a massive advantage for investors. Arnie explains the mechanics of "First Tuesday" auctions, the 25% redemption penalty that works in the investor's favor, and how to find hidden gems in smaller, growing counties like Hunt, Collin, and Hays.If you are a new or seasoned real estate investor, this episode is a masterclass in navigating the complexities of trustee sales and tax foreclosures in the Lone Star State. What You'll Learn in This Episode:Tax Deeds vs. Tax Liens: Why buying the property outright is better than just buying the debt. The "First Tuesday" Rule: How Texas auctions work and why timing is everything.Cashier's Check Strategies: Navigating the payment requirements for different types of sales. The 25% Redemption Rule: How investors earn massive returns even if a property is redeemed. The Power of Smaller Markets: Why Arnie avoids the Big 5 cities and where the real profit is hiding.Helping Homeowners: How Arnie uses owner-financing and "equity deals" to create win-win situations for families in distress.Join the Team: Arnie is looking for partners to help with due diligence, property previews, and bidding across Texas. That's a wrap on this masterclass with the man, the myth, and the legend, Arnie Abraham! If there is one thing you should take away from today, it's that Texas real estate waits for no one—especially on the First Tuesday of the month.Whether you're ready to dive into the tax deed game yourself or you want to partner up with a veteran who has seen it all, now is the time to act. Don't let these off-market opportunities pass you by while you're stuck fighting for scraps in the big cities. Grab your phone, save Arnie's number, and start building that Texas-sized portfolio you've always dreamed of.Remember: in Texas, we do everything fast—fast highways, fast foreclosures, and fast paths to wealth if you know the right people. Thanks for tuning in, and we'll see you at the next auction!"Connect with Arnie Abraham:Arnie is looking for dedicated individuals to help expand his research and bidding operations into more Texas counties. With over two decades spent building tech companies in mobile and social media, Anna Gudmundson witnessed firsthand the transformative power of technology—and its unintended consequences. Phone addiction and social media anxiety became real problems for millions, prompting her to reconsider what responsible innovation looks like. This experience set the stage for her most meaningful work: co-founding Sensate, a wellness technology company that leverages infrasonic therapy to regulate the nervous system and rebuild vagal tone for stress resilience and emotional well-being. Anna refuses to make exaggerated claims or engage in the growth hacking tactics that plague the industry, instead building trust through real user reviews and measurable results. Her philosophy extends beyond business metrics to a deeper conviction about human consciousness and empathy. She believes that when people regulate their nervous systems, they gain access to their prefrontal cortex—the seat of empathy and executive function—enabling them to show up more fully for their families, communities, and themselves. If you're ready to experience nervous system regulation firsthand, visit www.getsensate.com to explore the Sensate device and guided sessions, and use the exclusive discount code AMPLIFIED for 10% off any order—a special offer created specifically for our YBA community. How you start your morning…determines how you show up in your life. Most people wake up reactive.Phone. Stress. Noise. And before they even get out of bed…they've already handed the day away.Leaders don't do that.Leaders create the tone first.
We have the i-Phone to thank for the fast death of literacy & rise of autocracy"What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book because there would be no one who wanted to read one."— Neil Postman, Amusing Ourselves to DeathThis week, Nick Cohen talks to essayist and Times journalist James Marriott about Marriott's essay on "The dawn of the post-literate society" and his upcoming book "The New Dark Ages." James argued that mass literacy, which emerged in the 18th century, was fundamental to democracy, science, and philosophy, but that modern screen-based technologies like smartphones are replacing reading and leading to mass cognitive decline.James and Nick discuss how television and now social media platforms like TikTok are changing political discourse, making it more emotional and less rational, with examples like Donald Trump's anti-vaxx stance and the rise of populist leaders who thrive on screen.James concludes that democracy may not be sustainable in our current information environment, as it relies on abstract thinking that doesn't translate well to visual media formatsRead all about it!James Marriott is a columnist and film critic on The Times, and has own Substack column, Cultural Capital. James's Substack essay on how the smart phone is helping to usher in a new dark age - The dawn of the post-literate society - And the end of civilisation - went viral and has led to his first book, to be published by Bodley Head - an imprint of Penguin - either next month or in the Autumn, The new Dark Ages: the end of reading and the dawn of a post-literate society. I picked up my phone to check the weather the other day, and twenty minutes later I was still standing in my kitchen, having bounced from app to app through a chain of perfectly legitimate tasks that I never actually chose to do in that moment. I wasn't scrolling mindlessly. I was checking my steps, signing up for a yoga class, responding to my husband's text, following up on a bank alert. And I still lost the thread of my own day. That's what makes our relationship with phones so hard to examine. It's not all mindless scrolling. Our phones are genuinely useful tools, and that's exactly why we never put them down. We've adapted so completely to being constantly tethered to our devices that we've forgotten what it feels like to have a mind that isn't always being filled with input. We reach for our phones in every spare moment, not because we need to, but because we have two minutes to kill and our brains have been trained to say "phone" before we've made a conscious decision. Something interesting has shifted in recent years, too. A lot of us have pulled back from posting on social media, but we haven't pulled back from our phones. We've just become passive consumers instead of active participants, and the tethering hasn't loosened at all. I've explored this on my YouTube channel, So What Are We Doing Here, in two video essays I'll link in the show notes. In this episode, I walk through three simple habits that have helped me reclaim my time and attention, habits I still have to practice every day. I'll share the most recent data on phone usage from the 2026 Reviews.org report, explain how our apps are engineered to keep us engaged through intermittent rewards, personalization, and instant gratification, and talk about why mindfulness, which just means paying attention to how you feel, is the foundation for lasting change. I also share why I believe doing this work alongside our students is far more powerful than just enforcing phone policies at them. When students see that their teacher is honest about struggling with the same thing they do, it stops being about compliance and becomes about awareness and choice. I reference high school teacher Ashly Hilst's approach from Episode 306, where her message "Phones don't make good moments, people do" stuck with students in a way that traditional policies never had. Whether you want to start with your own habits or bring this conversation into your classroom, this episode will give you a framework for helping yourself and your students take back control of how you spend your time and attention. If you want to put these three habits into practice for yourself, I have a free 21-day Intentional Connectivity Challenge. It's one email per week for three weeks, each one focused on building one of these habits, with a follow-up check-in to help you stay on track. If you want something more personalized, Motivation Lab is my coaching app that helps you understand how your brain works and build strategies that fit your natural tendencies. There's a module called Take Control of Your Phone Habits that walks you through exactly what I'm describing here, and it also covers motivation, focus, and procrastination, because our phone habits are tangled up with all of those things. And if you want to bring this work into your classroom, my Finding Flow Solutions curriculum has a full unit on healthy phone habits with student journals, slideshows, and discussion activities that are no-prep for you. There are versions for elementary, middle, and high school. Get the shareable article/transcript for this episode here.

New research reveals that the design of your device's antenna has a bigger impact on facial radiation exposure than the measurement method used to assess it. An international research team studied how different methods measure power absorption and temperature rise in human face models exposed to ten and thirty gigahertz antenna radiation. They discovered that antenna design creates more variation in exposure patterns than previously thought, with important implications as five G networks expand into these higher frequencies. In This Episode How antenna design affects radiation absorption patterns in facial tissue Why power absorption correlates with temperature rise at high frequencies What this means for five G device safety assessments Featured Study Read the full study: Li K, Kodera S, Poljak D, Prokop A, Diao Y, Zhang S, Yao M, Li C, Wu T, Liebig T, Simon W, Škiljo M, Hirata A See all studies at shieldyourbody.com/research
Crushing it at work and in the gym while quietly falling apart at home is not strength; it's disintegration. Real masculinity means integrating faith, family, fitness, and finances so that you don't excel in one area while neglecting everything that matters most.Welcome to the Happy, Healthy, Strong Podcast, hosted by Adam Lane. This show explores what sustainable health truly means through supportive nutrition, intentional movement, and habits that foster strength without extremes.Episode HighlightsIn today's episode, Adam Lane sits down with Cory Bolduc to talk about what it actually looks like for men to live integrated lives, where faith, family, fitness, and work line up instead of pulling against each other. With years of experience as a pastor, men's coach, and nonprofit leader, Cory gets into real stories and straight talk about getting out of compartmentalized living, finding honest accountability, and cutting some of the digital noise so you can actually pay attention to what's going on inside.Episode OutlineMeet Cory Bolduc & Integrated MasculinityDisintegrated vs. Integrated MenThe 4F Framework and Life BucketsMen's Emotional Health & the SACHET ToolAccountability That Actually HelpsSocial Media, Comparison, and False StandardsAgreements That Quietly Run Your LifeThe Power of Men in Real CommunityDisconnection, Retreats & Boundary Waters TripsBecoming the Man You Want to Be in 5 YearsEpisode Chapters00:00 Welcome to Happy, Healthy, Strong00:27 Meet Cory Bolduc & his family03:30 What is Integrated Masculinity05:01 Balancing faith, family, fitness, finances11:39 Men's emotions & the SACHET tool13:25 The power of men's accountability groups29:02 Social media, comparison & “highlight reels”33:31 Phone boundaries, family, and parenting41:23 Men's fires, retreats & Boundary Waters trips48:29 Asking “What do I want?” and slowing down51:20 5‑year exercise & practical next steps53:51 Where to find Cory & closing thoughtsAction TakenCory shares a 5‑year self‑audit exerciseDefine the kind of man you want to be in five yearsList how you currently spend your timeIdentify what moves you toward that man and what pulls you away Listeners are invited to seek real accountability, whether in: A local men's group or faith communityOne‑on‑one counseling/coaching Cory points men to: IntegratedMasculinity.life for men's work, groups, retreats, and tripsIntegrated Ministries for crisis couples work and pastoral counselingPractical step: set stronger boundaries with social media, aiming to use it as a tool rather than a distraction (e.g., “post and ghost”). ConclusionA lot of guys look like they're winning on the outside but feel scattered on the inside. Cory puts language to that and shows why it matters to pull faith, family, fitness, and work into the same lane instead of treating them like separate lives. The big idea is simple: pay attention to what's really going on, get around a few solid men who will shoot you straight, and start cutting the stuff that's pulling you away from the man you actually want to be.CTASubscribe to Happy, Healthy, Strong and share this episode with a man who's crushing it on the outside but might be carrying more than he lets on. The prosecution's phone evidence in the Melissa Barthelemy case maps a precise geographic timeline. On July 12, 2009, a prepaid burner phone Barthelemy had communicated with traveled from Massapequa Park to Midtown Manhattan — the documented route between Rex Heuermann's residence and office. Hours later, Barthelemy's personal phone traveled that same corridor in reverse. Over the following five weeks, an individual using Barthelemy's phone placed calls to her 15-year-old sister Amanda, providing details of the killing. Each call originated from high-traffic Manhattan locations. Each lasted under three minutes. Each was directed at the minor sister, not at the victim's mother.Barthelemy, 24, held a cosmetology license from Buffalo and had relocated to New York. Prosecutors allege Heuermann also conducted internet searches for images of the victims' family members — including minors — following the killings. The civil aftermath of Heuermann's guilty plea is now unfolding alongside the criminal case. A wrongful death lawsuit filed by the son of victim Valerie Mack names Heuermann's ex-wife Asa Ellerup and their daughter Victoria as defendants. The complaint alleges the family derived financial benefit from a documentary production and demonstrated disregard for the victims. Ellerup's counsel has characterized the claims as reckless. Victoria Heuermann has made public statements indicating she believes her father most likely committed the charged killings — a position that creates its own legal implications in the civil proceeding. The guilty plea significantly alters the civil litigation landscape, as the admission of criminal liability eliminates the need for the plaintiff to independently establish the underlying acts. This week's coverage examines the phone trail evidence and its role in the prosecution's timeline, the wrongful death suit's legal theory and the family's civil exposure, and analysis from Robin Dreeke and Eric Faddis on the behavioral and legal dimensions of the case.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? A burner phone traveled from Massapequa Park to Midtown Manhattan on July 12, 2009 — the exact route between Rex Heuermann's home and his office. Hours later, Melissa Barthelemy's phone traveled that same route in reverse. Melissa had told a friend she was meeting a man. She never came back. For the next five weeks, someone used her phone to call her 15-year-old sister Amanda — describing the killing in graphic detail. Always under three minutes. Always from crowded Manhattan locations. Always targeting the teenager, never the mother.Melissa was 24. She'd graduated cosmetology school in Buffalo, earned her license, and moved to New York to build a career. The salon job was slow. The city was expensive. She ended up working escort ads on Craigslist from a basement apartment in the Bronx — a temporary solution that became permanent. Prosecutors allege Heuermann also searched online for images of the victims' families after their deaths — their sisters, their children. While those calls were being made to a teenager, Heuermann was going home to his own family. Asa Ellerup, his now ex-wife, sat in the last row of a Suffolk County courtroom as he admitted to eight killings. She once called him her hero. She walked out into a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the son of victim Valerie Mack, alleging the family profited from a documentary and demonstrated disregard for the victims. Their daughter Victoria has publicly stated she believes her father most likely committed the killings. Asa's attorney has called the lawsuit's claims reckless. This week's coverage examines Melissa's story and the phone evidence that anchors the prosecution's timeline, the wrongful death suit and its legal theory, and what the family fracture reveals. Robin Dreeke and Eric Faddis provide behavioral and legal analysis on the taunting calls, the civil exposure facing the Heuermann family, and how compartmentalization functions at this scale.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? In this episode, we discuss Leslie Bary's recent article, “From Angola with Love: Activism, Academics, and the Abolitionist Future,” which chronicles her thirty-year journey providing post-conviction relief and solidarity for death row and maximum-security prisoners at the Louisiana State Penitentiary. Leslie examines the intersection of praxis and theory, the limitations of the prison-industrial complex, and the evolving relationship between academic work and abolitionist activism.Leslie Bary is an Assistant Professor of Spanish and Latin American Studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she specializes in Latin American literature and cultural theory. A Comparative Literature scholar with a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley, her work often bridges the gap between literary studies and humanitarian support, including recent efforts assisting ICE detainees in Louisiana. In the cold winter days the family assembled in the hall, where a goodly fire blazed on the hearth, and while the wind whistled outside, our grandmother, an exile from Acadia, would relate to us the stirring scenes she had witnessed when her people were driven from their homes by the British, their sufferings during their long pilgrimage overland from Maryland to the wilds of Louisiana, the dangers that beset them on their long journey through endless forests, along the precipitous banks of rivers too deep to be forded. And as she spoke, we drew closer to her, and grouped around her and stirred not, lest we lose one of her words. When she spoke of Acadia, her face brightened, her eyes beamed with a strange brilliancy, and she kept us spellbound, so eloquent and yet so sad were her words, and then tears trickled down her aged cheeks and her voice trembled with emotion. Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary
At 4:42 PM on January 7, 2021, a camera captures Maya Millete walking toward her front door. No camera in the neighborhood ever records her walking away.Between that moment and 6:45 the next morning — when Larry Millete drove the family Lexus away from the house with his phone turned off — something happened inside the Millete home that changed everything. A neighbor's camera recorded nine banging sounds that night. The FBI couldn't confirm they were gunshots. Maya's phone died at 1:25 AM and has never been recovered. This is Episode 3 of a five-part Hidden Killers series. In it, we reconstruct the full timeline of January 7 through January 9, 2021 — every call, every text, every surveillance timestamp, every lie Larry told his family and investigators in the hours after his wife vanished. The Lexus logged hundreds of unaccounted miles. Larry claimed he was at the beach. Nobody could confirm it. He told Maya's brother he'd just come from work. He hadn't. He told the family Maya was locked in a room. She wasn't there. He asked a neighbor to clean the car. He deleted every text between himself and Maya. Larry Millete has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video?
