In March 2013, the Normandy School District's board hired Ty McNichols as its superintendent. By January 2015, McNichols was gone, resigned from the post after gaining what had been a career ambition—to lead a school district. In the course of those 22 months, McNichol ran into a buzzsaw of state and local politics, financial crisis, plummeting morale, personal attacks and lightly veiled racism as he navigated the sudden loss of accreditation for the district. Oh, and by the way, McNichols and his team had to educate 4,000 students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. The drama began to unfold within weeks of McNichols taking on the role offered by the elected school board for the north St. Louis County district. The chronically underperforming district needed a leader with ideas about improving student performance. The board thought McNichols might have the right ideas. By June, however, the state of Missouri had stripped Normandy of its accreditation, setting in motion a series of issues and unintended consequences. That included accommodating hundreds of students given authority to flee the district for a neighboring, fully accredited district. Those moves came on Normandy's dime—indeed, a lot of dimes Normandy didn't have. And it put the mostly Black and brown students of Normandy in the crosshairs of a somewhat hostile reception from the mostly white district identified to accept them.“What are the things I value? What was I willing to do and what not? Education is a political action for social justice,” McNichols said. “That's what drove me.”Our story is about how a leader confronts wildly competing priorities when the stakes are high—arguably no higher than the education of children. Can you strive for great? Must you settle for acceptable? Is this about making the best of a bad situation?RELATED LINKSTyrone McNichols named Normandy superintendent, St. Louis American, March 14, 2013McNichols resigns as Normandy superintendent, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, January 22, 2015Saint Rice on LinkedInWashington University's Institute for School PartnershipCREDITSThis podcast is a production of Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis. Donna McNichol has worked in healthcare most of her professional life as a program and personnel manager. She is currently Practice Manager for Alameda Health System and oversees outpatient infusion services there. She supervises 40+ employees from nurses to medical assistants to patient care representatives. As a successful front-line manager, we're talking to Donna about her expertise in managing people and creating practical systems that can keep us from operating in firefighter mode -- always putting out fires and reacting in emergency mode. Having strategic plans in place creates a workplace that is less stressful, more fun and leaves you and your team with energy to handle true emergencies that cannot be prevented. What you will learn ... How to manager people with different personalities and different perspectives to avoid the "drama zone". Why it's important to spend most of your time dealing with situations and thinking about work this important but not urgent. How to stay away from emergency management all the time -- reacting to things, putting out fires. It's not about just getting the work done, there's a lot of energy management that needs to happen for you and your team. Why you should debrief after an incident with the focus on your systems and how to prevent it from happening again. For the first time, Because WCW has a podcast episode longer than the PPV it was covering. And considering which PPV this episode looks at, we're sure you'll agree it deserves the distinction of our biggest ep yet. Dean and Liam bring in a 'third man' for one of WCW's most infamous and critically-successful efforts as Hooked On Wrestling original and former The Sun wrestling columnist Rob McNichol helps decipher the 'hostile takeover' main event that launched Eric Bischoff's vision into supernova. But whose side is he on!?
Erika McNichol and I take a look back at the wonderful heyday of The Purple One, Prince. We try to decide what was the best song he gave to someone else, how real his rivalry was with Michael Jackson, whether or not he was a good actor, and if he was the most versatile frontman ever. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/peakspod/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/peakspod/support
In this conversation I talk with Joel McNichol about his passion, purpose and what he is working on now. We embarked on a conversation about the history of indigenous people in Canada, the connection between humanity and the Earth, and how Joel is allocating his time and energy during the covid pandemic. This episode is a bit different. Rather than follow Joel's entire journey (we will get to that in person one day) we dive deep into the primary topic of the conversation. Considering that our oceans cover more than 70 percent of our planet’s surface and contain more than 97 percent of the Earth’s water, it’s surprising to realize that only about 5 percent of the world’s seafloor has been mapped in detail, leaving approximately 65 percent of the Earth (excluding dry land) unexplored. With so much of our planet yet to discover, governments, organizations, and private funding are furthering mankind’s ventures into sea, helping us to unravel the mysteries of the deep. Yet, there is a high degree of difficulty and cost in exploring undersea. Vessels are one of the most critical elements in any ocean-going venture, carrying food, water, fuel, and the equipment necessary to the crew’s survival while on mission. These vessels must also house specialized tools and technologies that allow scientists and researchers to explore underwater environments, including cutting-edge computers and navigational and communications systems. For video production staffs responsible for capturing potentially once-in-a-lifetime discoveries in these extreme environments, their equipment must be rugged, dependable, and of superior quality in order to provide quality image streaming to shoreside teams and online viewers. On today’s episode of the podcast, we sat down with Ed McNichol, video operation manager on contract for Ocean Exploration Trust. OET was founded in 2008 to engage in pure ocean exploration, seeking out new discoveries in the fields of geology, biology, maritime history, archaeology, and chemistry. With all scientific research conducted at the highest international academic standards, OET pushes the boundaries of ocean engineering, technology, education, and communications, sharing their expeditions with explorers around the world via live telepresence. “The most fascinating thing I’ve ever seen at the bottom of the ocean is what we’re just about to see next. It’s just such a mystery. And whatever’s just outside the reach of our lights, no matter how tired I am at sea, that’s what keeps me energized and engaged, because it’s such an unknown. So, I can’t fall back and say there’s any one particular thing I’ve seen that stands out because it’s all such a magical, mysterious area of our planet,” McNichol said. As OET’s contracted video operations manager, McNichol shoulders a lot of responsibility. He must ensure that each expedition is optimally captured and recorded on film. While new technology such as satellite equipped vessels have made a great impact on ocean video exploration, evolving technologies and companies like Cinedeck’s are helping to refine and optimize undersea video production.

WOC Nurses are often called upon to make recommendations to individuals or purchasing/procurement representatives regarding body worn absorbent products. While considered a containment strategy for incontinence, these products simultaneously impact skin integrity. The WOCN Society held a consensus conference to identify current clinical practice gaps and define standards of care for individuals using body worn absorbent products for the management of fecal and urinary incontinence. The goal of the consensus conference was to develop evidence and consensus based statements that result in the development of a manuscript and ultimately, an evidence-and-consensus-based decision support tool around this concept. In this episode of WOCTalk, we feature a discussion with four members of the consensus conference regarding their session at the WOCN Society’s 50th Annual Conference, “Setting the Standard for Body Worn Absorbent Products: Results of the WOCN Consensus Conference”. Marta On The Move Podcast- Hosted by Marta Napoleone Mazzoni
#90 Kellee Maize and Jimmy McNichol Kellee Maize is a sensation on the internet. This white female rapper, singer, and song writer has over 9 million downloads, and continues to grow that number daily. Maize is the number one person that pops up in your browser when you search for female rappers, and is about to release her 7th album since 2008. This one woman powerhouse is far more than just her title though. In 2006 Maize started her own events, and marketing company called Nakturnal . Since then she has become a live speaker, advising startup companies in the music industry, and Huffington Post contributor on how to make music affordably. Maize is also an activist, using her music to speak out for women's rights, and her personal political views. Her music parody "Make Love Not Trump" , is a personal favorite of mine. Oh, and I forgot to mention, the icing on the cake is, she is also from Pittsburgh. Maize's rise to success was not an easy one, and I came upon finding this talented lady, because of a video that popped up on my browser. Jimmy McNichol's Close- Knit Family and The Daughter Her Never Knew He Had. I knew of McNichol's from my mom, and from my childhood. He was "The face you see everywhere", youngest producer at 17, childhood actor, singer, and dancer. Brother of Kristy McNichol, Jimmy, and his sister were the most sought after Hollywood duo of their time. McNichol went on to star in various productions such as Little House On The Prairie, and was the highest paid TV actor on California Fever. While watching this video, I couldn't believe the story that brought these two ridiculously talented father and daughter together. When I found out Maize was from Pittsburgh, and heard her awesome song off her new album "Crown", I had to meet her to hear her story, and this path she created herself as a successful artist, business woman, and straight up courageous human being to take the journey to find her father. I have given too much away already. What I haven't given away is Maize telling you the story in her own words, and the phone call we surprised Jimmy with on the show. You will hear about how these two found each other, and are now creating projects together such as starring on Decker: Unsealed. Also what they have planned for the future, and I can tell you, it is going to be a lot. Tune in to hear the whole story on Marta On The Move Podcast, and follow Maize on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. We are doing a giveaway for this episode! Income inequality has received increased attention internationally, nationally and in the states, with the gap between the highest earners and those further down the income scale continuing to widen rather demonstrably. According to a recent report by the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities, in terms of income inequality, New Jersey ranks seventh in the nation when accounting for the wealthiest five percent of households and fifth when accounting for the wealthiest 20 percent of households. In its analysis, the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities assesses not only where states sit with respect to inequality, but also recommends several policy prescriptions for countering the trend, a number of which New Start New Jersey has promoted. Joining New Start New Start New Jersey for this discussion is Elizabeth McNichol, a Senior Fellow with the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities and the author of the report “How State Tax Policies Can Stop Increasing Inequality and Start Reducing It.”

Shazam! "Double Trouble" September 27, 1975 Billy and Mentor are shocked to learn that Captain Marvel is accused of robbing a gas station. Billy's first instinct is to investigate the matter, but he turns himself in as Captain Marvel in order to prove a point to a young boy about the idea that no one is above the law. But if Captain Marvel is in jail, who is going to prove his innocence? John and Richard are both in agreement that this is one of the best episodes in the entire series. We learn though it's one that Jackson Bostwick suggested as an idea for the show and it allows Captain Marvel a lot more dialogue and screen time. The two discuss the potential of the episode, the importance of the moral today in a world where many feel they are above the law, and the number of known actors who appeared in this episode. It's all here and we want to hear from you on what you think of the episode. Write us as ShazamIsisPodcast@gmail.com. Moral: “Respecting the law is just another way of saying that we respect each other. Laws have been made for the good of everyone, and when someone breaks the law, they're saying "I don't care about you." When you respect the law, you respect yourself." Guest Cast Ben Andrews as Pierce Young William Bassett as Bill Ritzi Ross Elliot as Sheriff Martin Jack Garner as Phil Schartoff Jimmy McNichol as Kelly Martin Bill Quinn as Larry Frank
