In continuing our console development basics series, we look at what it takes to develop an indie game for Nintendo's latest game console, the Switch. If you like more options, we'll look at a way you can make a limited Switch game with no permission from Nintendo whatsoever. Finally, we'll take a look at the most manageable option for going old school with your own NES project. Welcome back to the Bros and Consoles podcast! This week was a smaller news week, but there were so many games to play and new things to talk about that we couldn't NOT get excited about recording! As well as some new stories, we've also got updates on a story from last week too, so don't miss it. :D On one other note, this will actually be the last normal episode for a little while, which we've also gone into detail about on the podcast itself (after segment 1). I (Nathan) am going to be gone for about 3 months for the first of 4 externships, which I need to complete for the final year of my graduate schooling, and I won't be back until mid-to-late August. What does that mean for the podcast? It means that instead of having both Michael and me on the show together, we will be putting out solo episodes during that time period. We decided we didn't want to go back to an awful audio setup, similar to our rough first episode, so we decided it made more sense to attempt to continue the show on a weekly basis in this fashion temporarily so that you listeners have something to look forward to each week. Obviously, this will be a bit different and may take some getting used to, but we're hoping you'll still enjoy the content and bear with us until we can come back together in full force! As always though, we thank each and every one of you for the continued support, and we look forward to continuing the show for you all. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter via @IndieRonin, or via email: brosandconsoles@gmail.com Hope you enjoy the episode! With Borderlands 3 now an Epic Games Store exclusive, the war between Epic and Valve seems to be heating up...hotter than a round of Fortnite (or DOTA). Epic is no stranger to brash and impetuous characters, but is their exclusive-buying policy proving to be more brash and impetuous than any of them? And what about that time they told the world they'd never steal a game from Steam again, before changing course not three weeks later? Finally, what does Steam's response to fans "review bombing" the Borderlands series' other entries tell us about just how seriously they are taking Epic's emerging threat to their empire.
