I'm stepping into the new skin.” “Our words can build a man up and establish his kingdom with him, or they can just cut the feet right out from his vision.” “We need each other. We were created for relationships with each other.” “I do not believe that we were put on this earth to be in struggle, strife, and pressure cookers. We still get to experience pain between workflows, but we're designed to operate in a state of flow.” “Nobody wants to be in pain. But the reality of it is that pain is actually designed to wake us up. Something wrong is happening. And this is your warning: fix it.” “The brain is looking for things more complicated, or to make things more complicated, but the body is just the opposite. The body wants the path of least resistance.” “We just repeat. We remember our bodies repeating what it remembers. And so you need to give it new memories every single day if we want something to shift.” “A lot of our suffering that's really unnecessary is from repeating the familiar.” “Are we renewing every single day? Or are we just repeating what's familiar?” PODCAST MENTIONED: 5 Conversations to Unify Your Marriage! with Mark Jewell (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FAfzyMD6_4)  USEFUL RESOURCES: https://www.thechristinejewell.com https://www.instagram.com/thechristinejewell https://www.linkedin.com/in/christine-jewell-9361612a/ https://www.facebook.com/thechristinejewell https://www.youtube.com/@christinejewell Breaking Chains Podcast (https://pod.link/1579338652) Drop the Armor: Release the Past, Ignite Your Faith, and Unlock an Extraordinary Life (https://a.co/d/2fbPUwg) CONNECT WITH JOHN Website - https://thejohnhulen.com     Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/johnhulen     Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/johnhulen     Twitter - https://www.twitter.com/johnhulen     LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/johnhulen     YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLX_NchE8lisC4NL2GciIWA     EPISODE CREDITS Intro and Outro music provided by Jeff Scheetz - https://jeffscheetz.com/

I do not have a working tower so for now I have to do a text response. There is nothing worse than some idiot girl trying to preach Civil War history because she watched a YouTube video. She didn't even know what the secession papers were called. The reasnon to secede and the reason there was a war are two different things. The South was not attepting to seperate simply over a policy reason. Donald Livingston goes over the Confederate constitution which will illuminate the the stark cultural differences. The reason for the War is simple. Lincoln invaded.Slavery was already legal on a state by state basis. The North was not trying to end slavery before the war. There was no bill or decree trying to force South Carolina to end slavery which made them secede. There were however crushing taxes that prompted BOTH secession movements by South Carolina. In fact the opposite happened, the northern states introduced the Corwin amendment to enshrine the protection of slavery from the federal government in constitution.“No amendment shall be made to the Constitution which will authorize or give to Congress the power to abolish or interfere, within any State, with the domestic institutions thereof, including that of persons held to labor or service by the laws of said State” It was introduced by New York and Ohio. Illinois, Ohio and Maryland all ratified this as did 2/3 of the house and senate. Had the southern states joined in ratifying the amendment that would have become the 13th amendment.Lincoln who was a racial seperatist also supported this and personally wrote Southern governors encouraging them to ratify it. For his primary purpose was to presrve the Union and thus the revenue. Abolitionists numbered under 100k people less than half a percent of the population or about half the size of the Libertarian Party today. They did not have power. The president and at least 2/3 of the legislators agreed as they did pass this amendment. No Southern state took this deal because slavery was never the principle reason to secede. For had they stayed slavery was already legal and not being threatened. Even in the northern states that had gotten rid of it, that was done state by state and not by the federal government. And it wasn't for moral reasons. By and large it was because Whites didn't want to live around blacks at all. West Virginia which was not coastal and not greatly affected by tariffs broke from Virginia and stayed in the union. They also kept slavery as that was not a requirement to be in the union. It couldn't be as all the border states plus Delaware DC and New Jersey had legal slavery anyway. Kentucky New Jersey and Delaware retained slavery after the war was over with NJ not abolishing it until 1866. California had abolished slavery on paper but openly continued the practice and even after the 13th and 14th amendments they only ended black slavery but continued to use the Chinese.Virginia and Tennessee both ended slavery during the war as did DC. West VA and Maryland. It didn't matter. The Yankees were fighting as Lincoln said, to preserve the revenue.Lincoln's emancipation proclamation said two year into the war not at the begining of it, was a tactic trying to cause slave revolts in the South during the war. It did not free any slaves in Northern states and it did not end Grant's contraband camps. It resulted in riots in the North as people did not want to be drafted to go fight for black people. Lincoln would end up with 40% of his army being mercenaries from over seas paid for by selling war bonds and racked up 1.74 billion in debt and inflated the greenback by 80%.After the war ~a million blacks died of starvation and disease related to malnurishment as left to their own devices sharecropping as southern capital was strangled simply failed.Of course some of the secession papers mention slavery, they are building a confederacy and want the northern states that had slaves to join it. The counter measure was the Corwin amendment which guaranteed the union wouldn't abolish slavery. The fight was about slavery out west. Northern states simply sold all their slaves to the south right before ending slavery but then said no no you can use slaves to build the railroads. They were competing between a line from Illinois to California with one from Louisiana. However Utah had already legalized slavery. And eventually the rail lines were built by what any serious person would have to admit was still slave labor.Just like today, people will oppose enforcing illegal immigration laws under the guise of fighting racism, yet the real reason is to maitain a cheap labor force for corporations and a voting block for the Democrat Party.Bringing up slavery is an agreeable position TODAY. But it was camo. It's like pretending invading Iraq was to liberate Kurds or invading Afghanistan was about women's rights. Sounds great but isn't real. Now Kurds were oppressed and women don't have equal rights in Afghanistan and the South (and some of the North) did have slavery. But that wasn't at all why Lincoln sent Revenue collectors to Fort Sumter, firing on the Nashville and causing the war. The North wanted the 3 of the confederate states didn't secede until after shots were fired and involved created a blockade. This included the largest southern states North Carolina and Virginia. How did they think North Carolina would respond to a blockade on South Carolina? Had they been fighting to end slavery then why not at least introduce a constitutional amendment to end slavery instead of the opposite? Slavery was a rationalization made After the war. The Civil War became about slavery in the 1960s not the 1860s bc of the Civil rights movement and presentism. If you want to help with the computer situation buy me a coffee. This is a public episode. Most CPAs struggle with pricing - some have moved to flat-rate or subscription pricing, and some still bill by the hour. What they often struggle to understand is the full depth of the value they offer to their clients, and because they don't fully understand value, they are leaving Everest Sized Mountains of Money on the table, which means they have to work a lot harder to compensate for the missed opportunity.  Here today to talk with me about this problem is My guest, Jose Mirabal .Jose is the Author of the Value-Based pricing framework and the founder and Director of the Pricing Institute, where he has advised more than 1,500 companies in 42 industries on their pricing strategies.   HIGHLIGHTS: PART 2: - “What is need based segmentation? It's actually uncovering your market and figuring out and brainstorming the possible needs behind a client possibly buying your products.“ - “When you start seeing the problem from a value standpoint, not from a price standpoint, then things start making sense. That's why need-based segmentation is so helpful. Every single time you uncover needs, it gives you a lot of information.” - “Needs-based segmentation figures out the who and the transactional analysis tells you exactly how they are consuming.” - “Sometimes the need has nothing to do with your service, but it has to do with all the other items or attributes that are orbiting around your services.” - “The secret to pricing is options. It's like a menu at a restaurant.” - “Uncover your value, but figure your value based on two things. One, what are the needs that the clients have? And two, what are the current options out there that best satisfy those needs?”   PART 1:  https://www.smartstrategyforcpas.com/150 - “Everybody's concerned about their costs.  Nobody really worries about the price ceiling. The idea is to figure out and uncover value perception to see which specific services that you offer actually might have a higher willingness to pay from clients.” - “Everybody worries about value but they go down into figuring out costs. And there's no relationship between cost and value.” - “To monetize value, the first thing you need to do is uncover value. How do you quantify value? You monetize based on differences. When people buy, they buy based on differences. People compare items.” - “When clients are telling you that your prices are similar or too expensive in comparison to other companies, that's a sign that you probably need to work more on your differences. And that's a sign that you need to better assess how your product and services differ from the next best alternatives.” - “If you want to do value based pricing, all value based prices are supported by the price of the next best alternative. Every price based on value should be in reference to the next best alternative.”  - “If you want to start with the pricing, don't look for what others are charging as much as what others are offering.”      Podcast Mentioned: [in Part 2] Impact Pricing Ep125: Can We Really Price Value? with Jose Mirabal https://impactpricing.com/podcast/ep125-can-we-really-price-value-with-jose-mirabal/ Connect with Jose Mirabal: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jrmirabal/ Website: https://pricing.institute

How can you build rest into a busy season?  In the fourth episode of the Delete + Reset series, author Jennifer Dukes Lee tackles a topic that’s an ongoing struggle for try-hard girls: how to live a slower life when you believe your worth is based on all you do. Jennifer reminds you that good things take time to grow, that if you’re going to live like Jesus, you need to walk at a slower pace, and she defines what it means to have an unhurried heart. You’ll learn how to grow slow in a world that pushes you to keep up, how to replace harmful mindsets with God’s truth, and what to do when you’re tired of a busy life but are terrified of the idea of letting go of All The Things.  Key Quotes “There’s something worse than falling behind and that is not really appreciating and embracing the here-and-now the Lord has given us.” - Jennifer Dukes Lee “It takes time to grow good things.” - Jennifer Dukes Lee “An unexpected life is not the same thing as a bad life.” - Jennifer Dukes Lee “God doesn’t delight in our output as much as He just delights in our ordinary selves.” - Jennifer Dukes Lee “All those little things build a life.” - Jennifer Dukes Lee “We ourselves are fields. God is planting seeds in us, and He is growing things in us.” - Jennifer Dukes Lee “If I’m going to live like Jesus and be like Jesus, I need to slow down and walk with Jesus.” - Jennifer Dukes Lee  Mentioned in the Podcast Mentioned in the Podcast The FCC requires that I tell you that I'm an Amazon Affiliate, which means I earn a bit of commission on each sale. 51: Building a High Performance Culture with Wayne Mullins

What are the ingredients for a high performance culture? Vision, mission, and values...Holding yourself accountable to the same standards of performance as those around us...Differentiating between your normal, and someone else’s...We cover all this, and more, as Wayne Mullins joins Dr. Sabrina and Mike to discuss “Building a High Performance Culture”.   As someone who tends to dislike structure, Wayne now finds it liberating as it allows him the headspace to be more creative and effective. There’s a ton of wisdom to be heard in this podcast, you don’t want to miss any of it! You will probably want to listen to it a few times!   Wayne Mullins is a passionate entrepreneur committed to creating remarkable experiences, and building a team at Ugly Mug Marketing that produces extraordinary results for their clients. He has been called “the guru’s guru,” as he is regularly called upon for advice from Inc. 500 CEO’s, New York Times Best Selling Authors, to Silicon Valley startups.  However, his passion is helping entrepreneurs challenge their assumptions, create value from places they’ve never looked, and having more freedom than they previously believed possible.  He has worked hands-on with clients in over 100 different industries, and from every corner of the globe.   Ugly Mug Marketing, which Wayne founded 10 years ago, has won the praises of some of the leading influencers in the business world, such as, Neil Patel (Founder of QuickSprout & Kissmetrics), Chris Voss (New York Times Best Selling Author of Never Split the Difference), and Ari Weinzweig (Co-Founder of Zingerman’s). Wayne’s work directly influences more than one hundred thousand entrepreneurs annually through his blog, books, and training programs.   Show Highlights:   Wayne explains the concept of “context switching”, a concept from Todd Herman, who teaches a program called The 90 Day Year. Context switching is when you’re working on a project to be completed within a specified block of time, but something else comes up that needs to be addressed. So you switch over to that, and when that fire is put out, you jump back over to the project. After a period of time, you realize that you haven’t accomplished anything because you’ve spent so much time jumping back and forth. In the middle of the switch, there’s another concept called “Attention Residue”, as explained by author, Cal Newport in Deep Work. Attention residue is the lag between jumping from working on the first project to jumping into working on the urgent situation. Attention residue takes time, energy, and effort between working on those two contexts, and is detrimental to productivity. Vision, mission, and values: if you don’t prioritize and make time, energy, and effort for these, then it directly impacts and influences the culture that you create. Vision: where you’re going, and where you want to end up at some point in the future. Looking 3 years into the future helps you set the destination of where you want to get to. Mission: the plan of action. What are we going to do to bring that vision to life? That’s what drives and motivates us. Values: core principles, the things that we believe in and that will stand as guideposts along our path, to ensure that in the pursuit of our vision, we aren’t losing our way. We’re staying true to the course that we have set out. Feeling like you have to go back to the basics, back to square one, is one of the biggest frustrations of the entrepreneur. Very early on, Wayne had the pleasure of coming into contact with Ari Weinzweig, Entrepreneur and Co-founder of Zingerman’s Deli. In a personal conversation, Ari divulged that he considered himself the “CRO” of his company. When asked what that meant, he explained it as “Chief Reminding Officer”, as he considered it his responsibility to constantly remind his leadership and his team about where they were going, why they were going there, and why it was important. Dr. Sabrina explains that not only do they have Immutable Laws at Tap The Potential, they also have General Operating Principles, as inspired by Josh Fonger, of Work the System.  Wayne discusses the Enneagram of Personality profile and the nine different personality traits, as discussed on the Andy Stanley Leadership Podcast. The nine different personality traits are nine NORMALS. Wayne was struck by how what’s normal for him is not necessarily normal for someone else on his team.  The difference between intentions and actions, as Wayne heard on another episode of Andy Stanley’s Leadership Podcast, is that we judge ourselves based on our intentions. We judge others around us based on their actions. Where we might give ourselves a pass because we intended to do something but didn’t, we judge others based on they didn’t get it done today, and why didn’t they get it done today. Wayne shares an unsettling story about Dan Kennedy, and the impact it had on him to do what he says he’s going to do, and when he says he’s going to do it. The actions that we take every day, or the actions we don’t take every day, is what builds our lives, our businesses, and our careers. Wayne explains his takeaway from Marshall Goldsmith’s book, Triggers. Measuring performance and bringing balance to opposing forces. “The Field of Play” concept by Charles Coonradt, in The Game of Work. Terminal out of bounds - stealing, lying, cheating, etc. Operational out of bounds - things that are more infractions. You’re out of bounds but you’re going to get a warning, and need to step back into bounds. Wayne mentions his own “Ugly Mug Expectation Guide”, that applicants review during the hiring process. End zone - where you want the employees to get to. RRR (Results to Resources Ratio) - Goal Setting / Performance Measurement System  John Doerr outlines another form of Goal Setting / Performance Measurement System, called OKR (Objectives and Key Results), in Measure What Matters. John happens to be one of the first investors of Google. Profit goal Fulfillment or service goal Future work goal Creates a peer-to-peer accountability Wayne outlines his various meetings structures. When you set goals for a year’s period, it’s so far in the future that we tend to delay and put off until it’s too late to make progress toward those goals to actually reach it by the end of that year. In The Twelve Week Year: Get More Done in 12 Weeks than Others Do in 12 Months, by Brian P. Moran, Brian says that you should treat every 12-week period as if it were its very own year. Your question then becomes, what can you accomplish within the next 12 weeks? The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, by Patrick Lencioni, and why conflict matters. This is one of Wayne’s Top 10 books! You want to encourage healthy conflict! Hey homie!  Ready for another crazy good episode?  Well, you know I've got you covered! Today I'm chatting with Christina Sjahli.  Christina is an expert in ALL the financial things - she is a CPA, CFO, cashflow consultant, and has years of experience in the corporate finance world with major national and international businesses. I know.  Finances are probably not on your list of fun topics to talk about.  In fact, it can be super scary to take a look at the numbers and face the facts. But, here's the thing.  You have to.  If you're going to scale your business, if you're going to move forward, you need to grab a pen and paper, take notes and put all of the tips that Christina is going to give you into action. You will feel so much more powerful after you do! Christina's first tip? Take a look at what you're offering. Let's say you're offering multiple deals/products/services.  Maybe you've got a gold product, a silver product, and a bronze product.  Well, if you're just getting started, or if you're not seeing movement in your business - you need to FOCUS ON THE GOLD.  Focus on that one thing that's going to get you to your goal! In the entrepreneur world, we are constantly bombarded with 20k launches and people making crazy claims about what they're earning. I'm just going to say it - they're NOT telling you the whole story. They're not telling you that they're getting that 20k over 12 months. Or that they spent 18k to get it.  Christina even tells us about someone who looked at their numbers after a retreat - and yes, they made 150k, but they spent 175k! Don't let that be you! You focus on you.  Listen to what Christina has to say today. Then go put it into action, even if it seems scary.  And when you come up with a plan - LET ME KNOW! I want to hear! So tag me on IG, screenshot this episode, or come join the fun in my Facebook group, The Well-Positioned CEO and tell everyone!
