We'll spend most of the first hour talking about the Grizzlies win last night in Utah over the Jazz. It didn't start off great and the group text between the guys got a little dark (we'll explain) before the Grizzlies were able to run away from the Jazz in the 2nd half. The gang talks if Scotty Pippen Jr has earned himself a spot in the playoff rotation and if this is the Vince Williams Jr we're going to be getting going forward and how that changes a lot for the Grizzlies. Chris has a number that he thinks the team can hit for wins that would solidfy their playoff spot in the West and he'll tell you (3:00). News and notes from the day including Jimmy Butler's return to Miami, Ross Hodge leaving UNT for West VA, Stefon Diggs to the Patriots and Pat McAfee's LeBronversation (43:11).Jessica Benson joins the show in-studio to give us 5 storylines for the Sweet 16 includingTransfer Portal TournamentCinderella CalipariBYU the FutureMen's and Women's Teams LeftHouston Screwed

It's Music Monday for December 11, 2023 https://on.soundcloud.com/e8CPT https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEjER1AAA4_b1hZvhmS9NDFSvPND6DVU4 Today's Music Monday is going to feature my son, Matt, on the bass guitar in another of my Christmas Album songs - Ding Dong Merrily On High. This song is not nearly as popular as a lot of other Christmas songs, but I picked it for a reason - playing 4 and 4. Ok, haha, what does that mean. Well, here's the slighter longer explanation. Years ago I played piano and occasionally trombone in s Big Band in the Lynchburg, Va area. Sometimes I would sub on piano for another group that played fairly regularly at the Green Briar Resort, in West Va. And I had several smaller groups - mostly trios, quartets or quintets I would play in here locally. This was all Big Band or light Jazz music. That's where I learned the concept of 4 and 4. We would play a song and maybe on the 2nd or third time through, we would each take turns playing a solo - for 4 measures. So we would all be playing for 4 measures, and then maybe the bass player would take a 4 measure solo, usually with the drummer keeping time, and then we would all start playing again. In 4 measures maybe the drummer would take a 4 measure solo then we would all join back in - I think you get the idea. So Ding Dong Merrily On High lends itself to that 4 and 4 concept. So on the first verse and chorus, Lynn, Matt and I play. There is a little interlude and then Matt takes a 4 measure solo on bass, I take 4 measures on piano, Lynn takes 4 measures on Flugelhorn, I take a RARE trombone solo for 4 measures and then we finish with Matt taking another 4 measure solo. We then play the whole song again with Lynn and I using mutes for the last chorus - kinda gives it a New Orleans flavor. Enough explanation - here's Ding Dong Merrily On High
I do not have a working tower so for now I have to do a text response. There is nothing worse than some idiot girl trying to preach Civil War history because she watched a YouTube video. She didn't even know what the secession papers were called. The reasnon to secede and the reason there was a war are two different things. The South was not attepting to seperate simply over a policy reason. Donald Livingston goes over the Confederate constitution which will illuminate the the stark cultural differences. The reason for the War is simple. Lincoln invaded.Slavery was already legal on a state by state basis. The North was not trying to end slavery before the war. There was no bill or decree trying to force South Carolina to end slavery which made them secede. There were however crushing taxes that prompted BOTH secession movements by South Carolina. In fact the opposite happened, the northern states introduced the Corwin amendment to enshrine the protection of slavery from the federal government in constitution.“No amendment shall be made to the Constitution which will authorize or give to Congress the power to abolish or interfere, within any State, with the domestic institutions thereof, including that of persons held to labor or service by the laws of said State” It was introduced by New York and Ohio. Illinois, Ohio and Maryland all ratified this as did 2/3 of the house and senate. Had the southern states joined in ratifying the amendment that would have become the 13th amendment.Lincoln who was a racial seperatist also supported this and personally wrote Southern governors encouraging them to ratify it. For his primary purpose was to presrve the Union and thus the revenue. Abolitionists numbered under 100k people less than half a percent of the population or about half the size of the Libertarian Party today. They did not have power. The president and at least 2/3 of the legislators agreed as they did pass this amendment. No Southern state took this deal because slavery was never the principle reason to secede. For had they stayed slavery was already legal and not being threatened. Even in the northern states that had gotten rid of it, that was done state by state and not by the federal government. And it wasn't for moral reasons. By and large it was because Whites didn't want to live around blacks at all. West Virginia which was not coastal and not greatly affected by tariffs broke from Virginia and stayed in the union. They also kept slavery as that was not a requirement to be in the union. It couldn't be as all the border states plus Delaware DC and New Jersey had legal slavery anyway. Kentucky New Jersey and Delaware retained slavery after the war was over with NJ not abolishing it until 1866. California had abolished slavery on paper but openly continued the practice and even after the 13th and 14th amendments they only ended black slavery but continued to use the Chinese.Virginia and Tennessee both ended slavery during the war as did DC. West VA and Maryland. It didn't matter. The Yankees were fighting as Lincoln said, to preserve the revenue.Lincoln's emancipation proclamation said two year into the war not at the begining of it, was a tactic trying to cause slave revolts in the South during the war. It did not free any slaves in Northern states and it did not end Grant's contraband camps. It resulted in riots in the North as people did not want to be drafted to go fight for black people. Lincoln would end up with 40% of his army being mercenaries from over seas paid for by selling war bonds and racked up 1.74 billion in debt and inflated the greenback by 80%.After the war ~a million blacks died of starvation and disease related to malnurishment as left to their own devices sharecropping as southern capital was strangled simply failed.Of course some of the secession papers mention slavery, they are building a confederacy and want the northern states that had slaves to join it. The counter measure was the Corwin amendment which guaranteed the union wouldn't abolish slavery. The fight was about slavery out west. Northern states simply sold all their slaves to the south right before ending slavery but then said no no you can use slaves to build the railroads. They were competing between a line from Illinois to California with one from Louisiana. However Utah had already legalized slavery. And eventually the rail lines were built by what any serious person would have to admit was still slave labor.Just like today, people will oppose enforcing illegal immigration laws under the guise of fighting racism, yet the real reason is to maitain a cheap labor force for corporations and a voting block for the Democrat Party.Bringing up slavery is an agreeable position TODAY. But it was camo. It's like pretending invading Iraq was to liberate Kurds or invading Afghanistan was about women's rights. Sounds great but isn't real. Now Kurds were oppressed and women don't have equal rights in Afghanistan and the South (and some of the North) did have slavery. But that wasn't at all why Lincoln sent Revenue collectors to Fort Sumter, firing on the Nashville and causing the war. The North wanted the 3 of the confederate states didn't secede until after shots were fired and involved created a blockade. This included the largest southern states North Carolina and Virginia. How did they think North Carolina would respond to a blockade on South Carolina? Had they been fighting to end slavery then why not at least introduce a constitutional amendment to end slavery instead of the opposite? Slavery was a rationalization made After the war. The Civil War became about slavery in the 1960s not the 1860s bc of the Civil rights movement and presentism. If you want to help with the computer situation buy me a coffee. This is a public episode. Kroger employees in Virginia and West Virginia are pursuing a class-action suit against the grocery giant, alleging that bugs in the company's new payroll software system cheat them out of their rightful wages. The class-action lawsuit filed in Richmond in January is one of four filed by employees in five states against the country's largest supermarket chain. Allegations include nonpayment for overtime or vacation time and unauthorized deductions from paychecks. The new payroll system, called My Time, has not been accurate since it was introduced last spring, said Horace Campfield, a Richmond Kroger employee who has worked for the company...Article LinkSupport the show

"It's like Gotham city without Batman," that's what one Philly resident stated when we asked, "What's Life Like Living in Philadelphia?" Others, like the couple who recently moved from rural US thinks otherwise saying that it's fun and only hate the litter. That's what's on the episode today plus much more. On this episode of The Podcast, we continue the series on Living in Philadelphia where we take to the streets asking various individuals from different backgrounds and experiences to provide comments and to be interviewed on the spot. We have completed three parts already and this is part four. This episode is also very interesting and powerful as we obtained some insights that provided a deeper understanding into how people are thinking and ideas they have to resolving issues in their communities. Moreover, the episode morphed into a group discussion as Fe and Sasha Harvey joined in for a lengthy discussion on what's it like living in Philly and debated the cause of the violence and suggested ways we can fix it. Sasha Harvey is the author of "Birdman" and "Press". The Segment included students from the University of Penn, a couple who just moved to Philly from Michigan and West VA, a woman walking her dog who just moved from the suburbs to Philly city and two close relations of B-Dot, B-Dot was killed a few days ago and spoke on the show days before he was killed about "What's It Like Living In Philadelphia". We replay that interview at the end and provided some commentary and share the interview with B-Dot's best friend's mother/sibling. The trailer and Bonus episode to this episode, Part 4 of Living In Philly, is available in video podcast via the Spotify platform. We will continue with Part 5 later this week of the series. Coming up tomorrow on the Podcast is: Relative Deprivation, Key to understanding Crime and Violence, and News Commentary and Insight into OPEC's decision to slash oil outputs by 2 million barrel per day, and Biden's plan to overhaul Marijuana, also available this week as an article in our website theneoliberal.com and renaldocmckenzie.com. Today, The Two Mikes spoke with West Virginia State Treasurer Riley Moore who reported that the West VA legislature has passed a law that creates a "denied financial list" on which any financial institution that discriminates -- using ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance Score) -- in its lending decisions against the fossil-fuel industry will be placed. Once placed on that list, financial companies will be unable to bid for West VA government contracts. Mr. Moore noted that an increasing number of states are working toward the same arrangement for protecting their fossil-fuel industries. He also made clear that W VA did not start its list with small-fish targets, saying that the first six financial institutions that will be put on the list are: BlackRock Inc., Wells Fargo&Co., JP MorganChase &Co, Morgan Stanley, The Goldman Sachs Group Inc., and U.S. Bancorp. Mr. Moore said that many companies are eager to use the ESG scoring method because asset managers can make twice as much profit when the score is applied against loan applicants. It is interesting to note that just after our conversation, the governments of Germany and Greece announced they were reopening coal-fired plants to replace the energy shortages they have suffered because of U.S.-EU sanctions on Russia. Col. Mike said "It's time for anyone with the credit cards from those banks to cut them up. It's suicide to continue to use them!" In this episode, Lou presents a narrative written by John Brown's young lawyer, George H. Hoyt, written only a few years after the abolitionist's hanging. Hoyt went to join John Brown in Charlestown, Virginia (today West Va.) and support his lawyers, but really went as a spy for Brown's supporters in the North who wanted to launch a rescue. But not only was the rescue impossible by the time that Hoyt arrived in Virginia, but Brown did not want to escape. Hoyt thus became part of the drama of Brown's trial and last days, a story that can be found in more detail in Lou's book, Freedom's Dawn: The Last Days of John Brown in Virginia (2015).The Hoyt narrative is provided in ten short segments that somewhat follow the serialized narrative that appeared in the Leavenworth Conservative in 1867, as well as a kind of epilogue that Hoyt published in The Kansas Weekly Tribune in 1870. The narrative, written from a firsthand eyewitness reveals a great deal about Brown's trial and the supposed "fair trial" that he received at the hands of a court dominated by slaveholders and guided by Sen. James Mason of Virginia, the architect of the Fugitive Slave Law of 1850 and one of the ringleaders of the slaveholders' betrayal that would follow in 1861 following Lincoln's election.Guest music: "Bittersweet" by Silent Partner

Bancorp.Mr. Moore said that many companies are eager to use the ESG scoring method because asset managers can make twice as much profit when the score is applied against loan applicants. It is interesting to note that just after our conversation, the governments of Germany and Greece announced they were reopening coal-fired plants to replace the energy shortages they have suffered because of U.S.-EU sanctions on Russia.Col. Mike said "It's time for anyone with the credit cards from those banks to cut them up. It's suicide to continue to use them!"He also said it's time to enjoy the Mountain Stage: Get to Know Mountain Stage - Mountain Stage: https://mountainstage.org--Media coverage of Mr. Moore's and West Virginia's success:https://www.mooreforwv.comNY Times Article: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/05/27/climate/republicans-blackrock-climate.htmlWSJ Op-Ed (with Vivek): https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-market-can-curtail-woke-fund-managers-index-act-votes-shareholders-11654786033Politico Article about letters: https://www.politico.com/news/2022/06/14/banks-letter-west-virginia-boycott-fossil-fuels-00039246Please go on the www.Twomikes.com Contact page to send your 3rd anniversary shout out“Listening to Two Mikes will make you smarter!”- Gov Robert L. TRANSCRIPT OF AUDIO From the Cumberland Gap to the Atlantic Ocean, this is Virginia Water Radio for the weeks of May 23 and May 30, 2022. This episode, marking the Memorial Day holiday observed this year on May 30, repeats an episode first done in 2015. MUSIC – ~17 sec – instrumental. That tune, composed during the U.S. Civil War, sets the stage for a water-related exploration of the origin of Memorial Day. Have a listen to the music for about 35 more seconds. MUSIC – ~35 sec – instrumental. You've been listening to a version of “All Quiet Along the Potomac Tonight,” recorded by Chloe Benner and Stewart Scales. The tune was composed in 1863 by John Hill Hewitt. The title, and the lyrics associated with the tune, are from “The Picket Guard,” a poem by Ethel Lynn Beers, published in 1861. The poem relates the loneliness, homesickness, and then sudden death of a rank-and-file soldier patrolling the dark, wooded, and deceptively quiet Potomac riverbank. As a similar tragic fate befell tens of thousands of Civil War soldiers along rivers, ridges, and battle lines in Virginia and elsewhere, surviving family and friends began honoring fallen soldiers by decorating their graves with flowers, especially during spring. The practice grew across both North and South, eventually becoming a spring tradition known as “Decoration Day.” On May 5, 1868, Gen. John Logan called for Decoration Day to be an annual, national holiday on May 30, and the first national ceremony was held that year in Arlington National Cemetery, near the banks of the Potomac. After World War I, the annual observance began to include honoring those who had died in all U.S. military conflicts. In 1971, Congress declared Memorial Day an official national holiday, to occur on the last Monday of May. Memorial Day invokes very personal and local expressions of honor and remembrance, true to the holiday's origin of individuals decorating Civil War graves with flowers. In that spirit, we close this tribute to Memorial Day with about 25 seconds of “Flowers of the Forest,” by No Strings Attached, from their 2002 album, “Old Friend's Waltz.” MUSIC – ~26 sec – instrumental. EXTRA INFORMATION ON THE HISTORY OF MEMORIAL DAYThe following information is quoted from the Library of Congress, “Today in History—May 30/Memorial Day,” online at https://www.loc.gov/item/today-in-history/may-30/. “In 1868, Commander in Chief John A. Logan of the Grand Army of the Republic issued General Order Number 11 designating May 30 as a memorial day ‘for the purpose of strewing with flowers or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village, and hamlet churchyard in the land.' “The first national celebration of the holiday took place May 30, 1868, at Arlington National Cemetery, where both Confederate and Union soldiers were buried. Originally known as Decoration Day, at the turn of the century it was designated as Memorial Day. In many American towns, the day is celebrated with a parade. “Southern women decorated the graves of soldiers even before the Civil War's end. Records show that by 1865, Mississippi, Virginia, and South Carolina all had precedents for Memorial Day. Songs in the Duke University collection Historic American Sheet Music include hymns published in the South such as these two from 1867: ‘Kneel Where Our Loves are Sleeping,' dedicated to ‘The Ladies of the South Who are Decorating the Graves of the Confederate Dead,' and ‘Memorial Flowers,' dedicated ‘To the Memory of Our Dead Heroes.' “When a women's memorial association in Columbus, Mississippi, decorated the graves of both Confederate and Union soldiers on April 25, 1866, this act of generosity and reconciliation prompted an editorial piece, published by Horace Greeley's New York Tribune, and a poem by Francis Miles Finch, ‘The Blue and the Grey,' published in the Atlantic Monthly. The practice of strewing flowers on soldiers' graves soon became popular throughout the reunited nation. “President Lyndon Johnson proclaimed Waterloo, New York, as the ‘Birthplace of Memorial Day,' because it began a formal observance on May 5, 1866. However, Boalsburg, Pennsylvania, also claims to have held the first observance, based on an observance dating back to October 1864. Indeed, many other towns also lay claim to being the first to hold an observance. “In 1971, federal law changed the observance of the holiday to the last Monday in May and extended the honor to all soldiers who died in American wars. A few states continue to celebrate Memorial Day on May 30. “Today, national observance of the holiday still takes place at Arlington National Cemetery with the placing of a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the decoration of each grave with a small American flag. Protocol for flying the American flag on Memorial Day includes raising it quickly to the top of the pole at sunrise, immediately lowering it to half-staff until noon, and displaying it at full staff from noon until sunset. … “Many veterans of the Vietnam War, and relatives and friends of those who fought in that conflict, make a pilgrimage over Memorial Day weekend to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., where they pay their respects to another generation of fallen soldiers.” SOURCES USED FOR AUDIO AND OFFERING MORE INFORMATION On the History of Memorial Day Library of Congress, “Today in History—May 30/Memorial Day,” online at https://www.loc.gov/item/today-in-history/may-30/. On January 6, 2012, law enforcement and firefighters responded to a house fire west of Glengary, West Virginia. Inside the home were the remains of 56 year old David Hutzler and his nine year old son James "Macky" Hutzler. Initially, police classified the case as a murder-suicide. David Hutzler was believed to have shot his son, set their home on fire, and then killed himself. Police reported that the father and son both died from gunshot wounds to their heads, and the boy suffered a second "glancing" gunshot wound on his chin.Kelli Hutzler, David Hutzler's daughter, refused to believe this. She insisted that her dad could not have committed such a heinous act. I asked Kelli why law enforcement ruled the case a murder suicide. She told me that her dad had no reason to kill himself and her brother. She also revealed that there was no murder weapon at the scene. According to her, the law enforcement theory that it was a murder suicide is incorrect because there was no weapon present. Kelli has taken issue with the West Va. State police for their initial ruling. For over a year, locals and the public believed David had murdered his son before killing himself. Eventually, law enforcement realized their mistake. The case was then ruled a double homicide. Kelli told me she finds it disturbing that some people still believe the case was murder suicide, even a year after the case was reclassified as a double homicide. Currently, there is an individual who is walking around unpunished after shooting a 9-year-old cub scout to death. Now on with the story of James and David Hutzler as told by David's daughter Kelli Hutzler. Do you know who killed this father and son? Do you have any information about their killer? It is Kelli's mission to find out who killed her dad and brother. Those with information about the Hutzler double homicide are asked to contact the West Virginia State Police at 304-267-0002 or 304-267-0000. You can also call Crime Stoppers at 304-267-4999. In this Conversations With Healers episode, my guest is Rita Maximilian-Atassi. Rita is a Yoga and Meditation Teacher, an Institute of Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and one of my longest and dearest friends in the US. We talked all about teaching yoga, blessings of open-heart surgery, bio-individuality in health coaching, changing career paths and finding what lights you up and more. This was a conversation that we recorded pre-quarantine, I feel like it still sheds light on how to be resilient and follow your path even though it may not look like what you thought it would be. My favorite healing nugget from Rita is "I would probably tell myself (from 20 years ago), just be patient and listen more, listen more to your intuition. Be OK with whatever comes up. It might not look like the way you thought you would fit in. It might look a very different way. At the time, this was something I couldn't even imagine." You can find out more about Rita and her work at her website and her Instagram. Rita is generously offering a 10% discount to all her online health coaching programs and her upcoming West VA retreat when you mention listening to this podcast. Geeks like to share - well, it's time to share the regard for the Second Amendment felt by our fellow geeks - builders, shooters, trap and skeet folks, hunters, gunsmiths, home-defenders, law and orderers, and the men and women in America's military. Because of the attacks on our god-given freedoms (as enshrined in the constitution) by the bureaucrats and statists temporarily in office, we all need to stand up for our freedoms, and learning where things stand is a good place to start. The Garage Hour is here to help: we've got updates on the weird state of VA, how West Virginia is ready to save Virginians, the failures of Gov. "Blackface" Northam and his ilk, other states' examples of where this is going, and how to save your state from this state.

This replay is a must listen episode about building soil health that was originally published February 2017. It is Monday, January 2nd, very early in the morning and I am headed back to school today. I know you are going to love this guest from Black Swan Organics and Grow Ohio Valley in Appalachia! What a great guest to follow up after Jean-Martin Fortier (http://organicgardenerpodcast.com/170-jm-fortier-the-market-gardener/) because Danny is basically doing everything JM Talked about. A great educator and farmer you are going to love this episode as much as I did! (http://growov.org) is working to fashion a new economic landscape, one offering increased prosperity, improved health and a better environment. Things they do is change: • Vacant city lots become fertile and productive. • School children who think it is “normal” to grow and eat healthy food. One thing I am curious about is their “Food Stamp Challenge” Grow Ohio Valley (http://growov.org) here’s Danny Swan. Tell us a little about yourself. Sure, I’m living here in Wheeling West, VA. It’s kind of hybrid Appalachia Coal town and mid west Rust Belt town. Has a lot in common with some of it’s larger brothers, like Cleveland and Akron. Had lots of steel mills which have largely gone away and coal mines, that are dwindling, kind of post industrial situation. I grew up about an hour away, and I came to live in the big city about 10 years ago. At that time kind of found a love for organic gardening trying to share that with other people since in a variety of ways. Sharing the Love One of which is (http://growov.org) , a company founded with other people here in Wheeling, West VA to bring this local food movement, which is pretty fringe here. You’d call it a rust belt climate…. What does that mean a rust-belt climate? Wheeling, it’s been a hard up town. It was pretty prosperous up until the 60s and 70s and before. As factory work moved overseas, and as coal ran out or other forms of jobs, there are: high unemployment rates everything that goes with that poverty low scores on health performance low educational performance high drug usage which is a big thing we’re seeing right now. It’s a kind of mentality where people just want a job … want things to get back to normal as they remember it … so things that relate to long term health, don’t get on the radar screen I would say, if you look at it as an average across the town as it is in other places as frequently. People are not thinking about farmers markets not thinking about organic food growing own food more immediate and pressing concerns … way to address these concerns … direct these …. business opportunities in farming and gardening …. that’s the obvious one …. under employed to do something… either a backyard garden to support their home …. economics or kind of a market venture like were up to here…. there’s also that empowering energy that comes with doing something that is live giving for your and your family … putting your flag in the ground that you have control over … something I have power in in this sort of complex challenging world… for decades now… We’re in a similar situation because the timber industry has left and our mills have shut down. I think that this is a popular topic whether they are interested in creating their own green jobs or supporting their farmer’s market. Tell me about your first gardening experience? My mom had a small flower – vegetable garden, my grandfather was a farmer and I spent time as a kid … but it was all sort of part of the background as a child and not something I had a keen interest until I moved out and had my first backyard. I had a friend he was interested in trying a vegetable garden, we were living together and we just went out in the backyard, dug up some grass, and planted a Support this podcast

The podcast that helps you become the best version of...you. This week on the Game of Life Podcast we have Jack Lengyel . Now you might be wondering, who is Jack Lengyel? - if I said we had Matthew McConaughey on the podcast would you know who that is? We basically do, the real life version of the the head football coach for Marshall University (McConaughey's We Are Marshall movie) Jack took over the program as the head football coach after the devastating Southern Airways Flight 932 crashed into a hill just short of it's destination killing all 75 people on board. The plane was carrying 37 members of the Marshall University Thundering Herd football team, nine members of the coaching staff, 25 boosters, and four flight crew members. The accident is the deadliest tragedy affecting any sports team in U.S. history. And Jack had the task of rebuilding not only the football team, but an entire community struck by devastation. Jack goes in depth today on what it was like transforming tragedy into hope, building a football team that had absolutely no players (taking walk on, baseball players, and literally hippies- you'll love that story!) Jack's story is one of absolute inspiration. In times where Jack could have succumbed to the treacherous rebuilding road, to the adversities that struck daily along the way, to an entire community putting the weight of their existence on his shoulders, Jack rose above it all and brought the town of Huntington, West VA together as one. I'm serious, this conversation gave me goosebumps throughout - it's one of the most tragic/inspirational stories you will ever here. Get ready. ------------------------------------------------------------------- SPONSOR: AMPLE-- Before we do through, I want to tell you about what I eat every single day for lunch. I'm an absolute health nut (but not in a crazy kale, lettuce, everything green kind of way) I want my healthy food to taste good. Really good. That's exactly why I make a big massive smoothie everyday for lunch with Ample. Let me break this down for you --- Here is what Ample will bring to you from a health perspective: https://www.amplemeal.com Code: NURSE 15% off at checkout ------------------------------------------------------------------- FINISH: 3 Pointers - 3 things I am learning/experimenting with this week: 1. Book I'm reading - Essentialism by Greg McKeown The Way of the Essentialist isn’t about getting more done in less time. It’s about getting only the right things done. It is not a time management strategy, or a productivity technique. It is a systematic discipline for discerning what is absolutely essential, then eliminating everything that is not, so we can make the highest possible contribution towards the things that really matter. https://itunes.apple.com/us/audiobook/essentialism-the-disciplined-pursuit-of-less-unabridged/id839192902 2. Health product Im using - Ashwaganda - https://authoritynutrition.com/12-proven-ashwagandha-benefits/ 3. Basketball Insight - In the UCLA gym this past week we had James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Carmelo Anthony, Jimmy Butler, Demar Derozan, over 20 nba players all together. Upwards of 1 billion dollars on the court playing pick up basketball in a gym on the top floor of a recreation center that has been around since John Wooden at UCLA. I might just have to do a podcast on this Gym and the special aura it has - Kareem, Magic, Jordan, everyone who is anyone has come through the the mysterious gym. Oh and Kanye West asked me to play pick up with him as well - let's just say he's not 7feet tall. Or 6feet. For decades DuPont's Zinc Smeltering Plant produced layers of contaminated waste that created a 100-foot tall noxious dust mountain in the tiny town of Spelter, West VA, permeating the neighborhoods and infiltrating the West Fork River that surrounded the facility. The toxic air emissions and dust from the operation of one of the largest zinc smelter facilities in the United States became a medical nightmare for scores of local residents exposed to potentially harmful by-products of arsenic, cadmium and lead. In 2004 ten residents filed an environmental class action, known as Perrine v. Carol Moore was the lead investigator for the law firm who successfully litigated the case on behalf of more than 7000 residents. Tune in to here Carol tell the story of her investigation of this complicated case that ended in a most remarkable outcome.
