What would you do if you woke up inside a video game? Would you start gathering resources, search for the nearest quest giver, or spend the first few minutes desperately trying to figure out whether you're living in Animal Crossing or trapped inside Resident Evil? Joe and special guest Philip D. Keating kick off another fun-filled episode of Wise_N_Nerdy by answering this week's Question of the Week, leading to a hilarious discussion about survival, strategy, and the importance of knowing exactly what kind of game world you've landed in. The Roll of the Dice sends the hosts first to "What Are You Nerding Out About?" Joe shares his latest anime obsession, The Cat and the Dragon, a delightfully goofy series that's full of charm and humor. Phil, meanwhile, is eagerly anticipating everything the Nintendo Switch 2 has to offer, with a particular excitement for the newest Star Fox adventure and what it could mean for longtime Nintendo fans. Next up is "How Do I...?", where Joe and Phil tackle an important parenting topic: How do you help your kids build genuine self-esteem and learn to love themselves? Through thoughtful conversation, the hosts explore the power of encouragement, celebrating effort over perfection, modeling healthy confidence, and creating an environment where children know they are valued for who they are—not just what they accomplish. The dice then land on "Parliament of Papas," where the hosts react to an unforgettable story about a teenager working in a coffee shop who secretly teamed up with his manager to pretend he was getting fired whenever customers became unnecessarily rude. The discussion dives into customer behavior, workplace humor, standing up for employees, and why kindness costs nothing. No episode would be complete without a healthy helping of Bad Dad Jokes, and this week delivers a wonderfully painful collection of puns centered around the paranormal and poetry. The groans are plentiful, the laughs are unavoidable, and the Wise_N_Nerdy tradition lives on. Finally, the episode concludes with "Daddy, Tell Me A Story," where Joe and Phil swap some of their most memorable travel horror stories. From flight delays and airport mishaps to the unpredictable chaos that seems to follow travel plans, the hosts prove that sometimes the best stories come from the trips that didn't go quite as expected. Whether you're imagining life inside your favorite video game, discovering a new anime, getting excited for the next generation of Nintendo, looking for parenting encouragement, or simply enjoying some spectacularly bad dad jokes, this episode has something for every nerd, parent, and lifelong fan. Join the conversation, celebrate what you love, and Find your FAMdom with the Wise_N_Nerdy community. Wise_N_Nerdy: Where Fatherhood Meets Fandom Learn more about your ad choices. A week after the major XBOX layoffs we've had some fallout with parts of Bethesda threatening to strike, and finding out that Id software is actually still making a new DOOM game despite all of the dismissals at the studio. There's also a new Fallout game in development from Obsidian and yes, they are still making Avowed 2 for the time being too. So there's some good and bad coming from what's been a torrid few weeks for XBOX. PlayStation is also having to deal with its own fallout from their major decision to stop making discs, with petition's to prevent it from happening getting louder and PC players taking unfortunate matters into their own hands, none of this may deter Sony from turning back according to a certain Dr. Serkan Toto. Not to mention, some lawsuits that may already be in the works too. Plus, some news on the Resident Evil Requiem story DLC, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is selling well, and more! You can also watch this episode in video form on the W2M Network Youtube Channel, please give us a like, comment on the episode, and give the channel a subscribe and follow as well: https://youtube.com/live/ThfjPkC-Y-4

Sign Up for STARZ https://tr.ee/STARZSHINERIt's another Horror Movie Reaction as Summer Slash 8 continues with the gloriously bizarre cult classic Blue Monkey (1987)—the Canadian creature feature that somehow contains zero monkeys and one giant mutant insect terrorizing a quarantined hospital.Johnny Spoiler breaks down what works, what doesn't, the surprisingly creative creature effects, the misleading title, and whether this forgotten B-movie deserves a second chance... or should stay quarantined forever. Also in this episode: Resident Evil is getting another reboot that's finally embracing survival horror. Lily James stars in Seasons, a creepy new horror film based on the viral Reddit story about a haunted ranch with terrifying seasonal rituals. Dario Argento returns with what could be the bloodiest movie of his legendary career. We revisit horror classics like Suspiria, Deep Red, and Demons. Plus, Johnny shares his thoughts on Good Fortune starring Keanu Reeves, compares his lovable rookie angel to Nicolas Cage's unforgettable performance in City of Angels, and explains why one angel wants to become human while the other has no idea how humans actually work. And before all of that, Johnny opens with a personal reflection on the famous phrase "The Show Must Go On"—from its circus origins to Freddie Mercury's legendary final recordings—and why that motto still matters today. Halloween is having a moment, and Universal is here for it. Comcast announced it will split into two companies, with the entertainment half, NBCUniversal, anchored by its growing theme parks division. Since Comcast has made horror a central part of its brand, Halloween is about to become a much more visible story on earnings calls, and a higher bar for HHN and Horror Unleashed to clear. That dovetails with everything else Universal announced this week, from four new HHN Orlando houses to a Resident Evil takeover in Las Vegas. We also look at Michaels betting big on Halloween nostalgia, and what that might say about the consumer. In this issue:- Comcast to Spin Off NBCUniversal Around Universal's Theme Parks- Halloween Horror Nights Orlando Announces Remaining Original Houses- Resident Evil Takeover Soft-Launches at Universal Horror Unleashed Las Vegas- Michaels Bets on Nostalgia With Six 2026 Halloween Décor Collections- House of Horror Haunted Carnival Moves to Tropical Park- IAAPA Expo 2026 Registration Opens, Haunting Grounds Moves to West Building- Run Your Own Dark Ride with "Scream Operator: Haunted House Manager" GameRead the stories here

And so it only seems appropriate that we head back to the game that the remake is born from. How does Code: Veronica balance combat and puzzles, and where does it succeed or fail? Are the criticisms around the voice performances fair? And what do we think the remake can do to improve on the mixed reception of the original? In the news, we react to the Veronica revival and get up-to-date with Survival Unit and Resi merch. Show Notes On this week's podcast, Dan and Kris recap the final batch of Not-E3 showcases, including Xbox's bid for an audience, and a somewhat baffling Nintendo Direct. What big game announcements were made? How many forgettable indie showcases were there this time? Let's find out! Then, in Week Old News, the industry follows up its trailer season with its favorite pastime… layoffs! Plus, Xbox exclusivity is weird, September is going to be busy, and more! Finally, in the Checkpoint, Kris gives Mina another go, and enjoys the heck out of both Masters of the Universe and the Star Fox demo.
