In 2010, the Association for Information Systems formed a special interest group () to nurture an international community of academics that study the role of digital technologies in fostering environmentally, economically and socially sustainable development. Fifteen years later, we sit down with , the current SIGGreen president, to reflect on the progress we have made. What do we know about how digital technologies help greening our planet? What efforts in empirical, theoretical, and design work is still needed? Is our role to understand the role of digital technologies or do we need to push and enact change ourselves? We conclude that environmental questions and problems are now firmly on the radar screen of our discipline but more work needs to be done for information systems academics to transform the way we think about and use digital technologies.  Episode reading list Corbett, J., & Mellouli, S. As an Olympian who performed at the highest levels of sport possible, not to mention being a pharmacist who worked day in day out with medicines, Charlie Spedding thought he knew what health was about. Which is why he couldn't understand why the patients he was seeing in his pharmacy who came to him for medicines never seemed to get better. This was great for business, but a tragedy for the individuals involved who in some cases lost their lives to illnesses like diabetes or heart disease. Concerned, Charlie delved into the research around diet and cardiovascular health, after which he made a startling discover. Which is that much of what he had been told about both was not just incorrect, it was in some cases designed to purposely misinform people and send them in the wrong direction! That is, towards ill health rather then good health. Oftentimes because of inner corruption given the vast profits franken-food makes the fast food industry, and even more-so the pharmaceutical industry who wind up with a never ending stream of customers who could be convinced into taking their drugs. It was this discovery that led to Charlie uncovering the truth behind the lies and becoming a major advocate for real food. In his book ‘Stop Feeding Us Lies' Charlie dispelled many falsehoods and myths around what constitutes a health diet. As well as information as to how one might go about controlling preexisting problems such as weight, diabetes and high cholesterol. So Charlie joins us in episode 72 to discuss all of the above, and share with us his most important messages on diet and health with the audience. This is one is full of practical information on diet, exercise, fasting and health in general. Enjoy The Show? Hi everyone! On this week's TALK MUSIC podcast, I'm thrilled to interview Derbyshire, UK native and guitar ace, the legend CHRIS SPEDDING Having recently seen him play live with ANTON FIG on drums and KEITH LENTON on bass, I can vouch that, at 79 years young, Chris still has it! His illustrious career includes session work with Cream bass player Jack Bruce, Harry Nilsson, Elton John, Brian Eno, Tom Waits, Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry, Joan Armatrading, John Cale, Roger Daltrey and Paul McCartney (“Give My Regards to Broad Street”), to name a few.  Spedding has also worked as a producer, mixer and musician on a number of projects by Toronto-area punk rock acts: Teenage Head, Forgotten Rebels, Viletones, the Curse, the Ugly, the Demics, the ‘B' Girls, the Mods, the Sinisters, Toby Swann, Johnnie Lovesin and Art Bergmann. Our chat also includes his time spent touring and recording with ROBERT GORDON, his involvement in how he ended up producing the first demos for the SEX PISTOLS, and how ‘MOTORBIKIN” became a top 20 hit in the UK.  I also had the pleasure of working with Chris many years ago when I produced a version of the track “New York City” by the Demics that ended up on his solo album CAFE DAYS which I released on my Hypnotic label. Enjoy!

Steve Parsons in conversation with David Eastaugh Sharks are a British rock band formed in 1972 by former Free bassist Andy Fraser upon his departure from Free. They were signed to Island Records and were highly rated by critics, especially for Chris Spedding's guitar work. The original line-up consisted of Fraser (bass, piano), Snips (real name, Steve Parsons) (vocals), Spedding (guitar) and Marty Simon (drums). Steve Parsons and Anke Trojan directed the 2023 documentary Not a Rock-Doc: A Shark's Tail, about the ups and downs in the story of this band, from the success heights in the '70 to the issues that led to its dissolution and then to further insights around the subsequent reunion. Filmed in Berlin, Tokyo and London, the film was noticed for its integration of various angles of raw footage and for its humor and irony. The narrative is stirred by interactions with Steve Parsons and Chris Spedding, notably Jordan Mooney (Pamela Rooke) managing to bring to light previously unknown nuances in discussions with an otherwise tight Chris Spedding.

Abstract: The importance of dyslipidemia in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients is increasingly recognised as a potential key mechanism driving disease onset, progression and survival. Evidence in familial ALS models suggests that lipid composition is significantly affected, however clinically relevant models have yet to be investigated. Using a powerful lipidomic approach, we uncover significant dysregulation of glycosphingolipid (GSL) metabolism in both the spinal cord and skeletal muscles of transgenic TDP-43Q331K mice. Treatment with the selective glucocerebrosidase 2 (GBA2) inhibitor ambroxol at symptom onset significantly improved motor and gait functions in TDP-43Q331K mice. Ambroxol treatment preserved motor neurons and neuromuscular junctions which was associated with modulation of GSL metabolism. Our study establishes significant lipid dysregulation in a clinically relevant model of ALS. Importantly, we show positive therapeutic outcomes in a mouse model of TDP-43 proteinopathy, suggesting that ambroxol may be a promising candidate to treat underlying dyslipidemia and symptoms of ALS. Sarah Davis is to be the events official track referee. Her husband Patrick, friend Stewart and his wife are also qualified officials that will help out on the day! The four volunteer officials we have enlisted above all need to go on after our race and help out at further Athletics Victoria Track meets later that day, so the boys also announce that the race start time has been brought forward from 7am to 6:30am Sunday Nov 29th, to make this possible. In general the efforts of officials and volunteers don’t get enough recognition or thanks in our sport, I mean without them we wouldn’t have an athletics meet, it just wouldn’t run. The process of organising this 50km challenge event and communicating and liasing close with officials has certainly highlighted that they are some of the ‘quiet legends’ of our sport! Tomato Chip timing is all but locked in for the event and Dion chats about the latest Shoe regulation update! All going well with COVID19 restrictions, we look good for a 50 person crowd on the day at this stage! In terms of weekly training developments: Dion ‘the Hulk’ clocked his second straight week at 211kms for the week! Which included a mid week workout of 5km reps and a 50km Sunday long run with a fast finish! After a couple of inconsistent weeks John ‘the beast’ Dutton was awoken again! Clocking a 166km week, 45kms more than last week, Including 50 plus kms on Sunday and a 60 min Kenyan fartlek on Friday. Earlier in the week, John also channeled a bit of former marathon great; Charlie Spedding. John did one of Spedding’s favourite fartlek workouts: 32kms of speed play. John recites a paragraph from Spedding’s book to listeners explaining why he loves this workout so much! John also explains, after chatting to his mentor (Mona), that he will now hit a couple of weeks of shorter/faster stuff before he tapers. Well done JD! Craig strung together another good week, collecting 8hrs of running (including a 32km Sunday long run with JD), another 6hrs on the bike (including a 4hr epic- up and down Mt. Dandenong 3 times, on Cup day). Craig outlines that it is unlikely he will run the full 50kms (given how training has progressed) but he continues to try to see how fit he can get to help the other boys with their record attempt on the day! (Before retiring to some sports Beers) After one of the biggest weeks of his prep and a quite a lot of volume over the the past month or two; Dane had a week where he planned to change the focus a little in a bid to hit a fast 10km timetrial with his training squad, the Run Culture Owls. Dane was rapt with his and his fellow Owls’ form, he now plans to have one more big specific week, before a 2 week taper into the event. He also talked about Stumpy Gully Rd again and how it tragically even featured on Jess’ Birthday! The guys finish the show answering a listener question about their personal eating habits, diets and how good or bad they are!? If there are any further listener questions please send them through to either Craig Dion John or Dane via their socials. The boys would love to answer them on next weeks show!

Whoa, it's a bonus episode! You might be asking yourself "But Nick, sometimes you take a whole week off for no reason what so ever. Wouldn't it make sense to bank roll this thing over till next week, in case you get lazy again?" While that actually makes the most sense, no, I will not be doing that. I play by my own rules, babies. This is a very special episode without any guests. In fact, I barely talk on it. As a direct response to some recent feedback, I present you with an "All Last Songs" episode. Since so many of you seem to really enjoy that particular segment, I figured why not do it for an entire show? It's kind of like going to a fancy buffet and heading straight to the dessert table. Sure I want an omelette, but gimme dat cream puff swan first! I jump around through a bunch of genres, so if you don't like something, just fast forward a few minutes and see what's next. Or sit in it and suffer the joy! If you'd be so kind, please SUBSCRIBE and give the show a good rating on itunes. That would be just swell of you. Tell your friends about it. Sharing is caring!
