In February 2020, speculation arose about whether international Latin music sensation Bad Bunny would pay tribute to the late Kobe Bryant during the Super Bowl halftime show. The anticipation was heightened by the recent passing of the NBA legend, who tragically died in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020, along with his daughter Gianna and seven others. The Super Bowl LIV halftime show, held on February 2, 2020, in Miami, was headlined by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. There was considerable buzz about how the performers might honor Bryant's legacy, given his profound impact on sports and popular culture.Although Bad Bunny did not specifically perform a tribute to Kobe Bryant during the halftime show, the Latin music star was involved in the performance as a guest artist, sharing the stage with Shakira. He delivered a dynamic and vibrant performance that aligned with the show's overall themes of Latin exuberance and celebration. The show's energy and spectacle were poignant and powerful, resonating with audiences worldwide. Bad Bunny, known for his genre-defying music and progressive messages, has often expressed respect and admiration for cultural icons, and Kobe Bryant's influence in sports is one such inspiration. While Bad Bunny's Super Bowl performance did not explicitly include a tribute to Bryant, the moment was part of a broader cultural fabric that celebrated diversity and unity. The tribute to Kobe Bryant was perhaps expressed more subtly and through the collective heart of the performance and the unity it represented. The halftime show was widely lauded for its energetic and inclusive nature, serving as a testament to the power of music and performance to bring people together in times of both joy and mourning.

Perhaps not just yet, but you wouldn't know by what has taken place over the past few days. I appreciate you stopping by to digest it all as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck: (6:38) Have you ever seen the plight of an organization fizzle out faster than the Dallas Mavericks? There's so much to unpack from the owner, the GM, the coach, the team and most importantly, the fans. I'll have a full assessment of what has taken place and what may lie ahead for the franchise. What does this mean for the Phoenix Suns? They're currently a couple of games behind Dallas for the 10th spot in the West. Will the recent spat between Kevin Durant & Coach Mike Budenholzer propel them to turn their season around? As for the rest of the Association, SGA scores 51 to add to his MVP case. James Harden scores 50 at the age of 35. Two Celtics score 40 in the same game. It's the first time that's happened in Celtic history. Giannis reaches 20K points in his career. And LeBron James has scored 50K combined (regular season & postseason). Is that a significant record? I'll peep the latest of both conferences when it comes to playoff positioning. (38:37) College basketball will conclude its regular season on Sunday. Top ranked team in the nation Auburn loses to Texas A&M. Does that mean they'll lose the #1 seed? Tennessee goes down to Ole Miss as the SEC continue to cannibalize one another. Will St. John's get to a regional one seed? So much to still unfold as the tournament is two weeks from today. (42:23) The NHL trade deadline is tomorrow at 3pm. There hasn't been much activity when it comes to transactions. I have one team that NEEDS to make a move if they want to make a run in the playoffs. Alex Ovechkin is now ten goals away from breaking Wayne Gretzky's record for most goals in league history. I'll see where we're at when it comes the latest in the playoff picture as things heat up on the ice. (54:25) MLB fans! Three weeks from today, another season arrives. Two significant players on last year's Mets team have signed with other clubs. (Jose Iglesias to SD & Jose Quintana to MIL) Could either one, or both, have made their way back to Queens? And Jose Altuve is going to play left field for the Astros? How will that go? (59:41) A new NFL season is on the horizon. That's right. Not as far as games being played, but open for business for transactions to take place. There have been players released (Darius Slay, Davante Adams, to name a couple) players asking to be traded (DK Metcalf) players signing with their teams (Saquon Barkley, Maxx Crosby, et. al.) And All-Pro guard Joe Thuney was traded to the Bears. Why was it smart for the Chiefs to trade an offensive lineman after watching Patrick Mahomes run for his life in Super Bowl LIV last month. Welcome to episode 129 of the What are We Doing podcast! In this week's episode, hosts Levi and Los break down Super Bowl LVIII where the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime. The Chiefs came into the game as underdogs but were able to overcome a 10-point deficit to become the first back-to-back Super Bowl champions in two decades. The game was a rematch of Super Bowl LIV in 2020 when the Chiefs beat the Niners 31-20. It was an exciting back-and-forth game that went down to the wire. The Chiefs struck first with a field goal at the end of the second quarter. In the third quarter, the Niners responded with a touchdown thanks to a trick play where wide receiver Jauan Jennings threw to running back Christian McCaffrey for a 21-yard score. The Chiefs battled back at the end of the third with their own touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Marquez Valdes-Scantling. The fourth quarter saw both teams trade field goals and touchdowns. With under two minutes left, Niners kicker Jake Moody hit a 53-yarder to put San Francisco up 19-16. But Mahomes led an impressive last-minute drive, setting up a game-tying field goal with 3 seconds left to force overtime. In OT, the Niners struck first with a field goal. But Mahomes worked his magic again, driving KC down the field and hitting Mecole Hardman for the game-winning 1-yard TD pass with just 13 seconds left. Mahomes cemented his legacy as a clutch performer, leading another comeback win. It was only the second Super Bowl ever to go to overtime after Super Bowl LI in 2017. Chiefs coach Andy Reid stayed perfect against 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, moving to 4-0. And the Niners drought without a Super Bowl win extends to 30 years now. The Chiefs defense came up big all game, containing the Niners attack. And the KC offense persevered despite turnovers and miscues. Mahomes battled through an uncharacteristic interception. The running backs on both teams struggled to hold onto the ball. But in the end, Mahomes and the Chiefs made just enough plays to get another Lombardi Trophy. In the episode, Levi and Los discuss the keys to the Chiefs win, including the late defensive stops and Mahomes' resolve. They talk about the trick plays, turnovers, and other big moments that swung the game. They analyze the coaches' decisions and the adjustments both teams made. They also dive into the halftime show featuring Usher with guest appearances from others like Alicia Keys. Usher ran through his hits from across his decades-long career. From "Caught Up" to "Yeah" with Lil Jon, it was a high-energy performance filled with costume changes and choreography. Levi and Los debate where this Super Bowl ranks among the best ever. Does it match up to classics like Super Bowl XLIX and LI? Are the Chiefs now an NFL dynasty after winning 3 Lombardis in 5 years? Where does Mahomes rank among the all-time great QBs after adding a second Super Bowl MVP? It's an action-packed episode breaking down all the big storylines from Super Bowl LVIII! Whether you watched the game or missed it, this is the perfect podcast to catch you up on everything that went down as the Chiefs emerged victorious in another Super Bowl classic. ********** Disclaimer: We at the What are We Doing podcast want to make it clear that the views and opinions expressed in this video belong solely to the speakers or authors and do not represent the views and opinions held by YouTube, its partners, or its owners. All that's left is Super Bowl LVIII. The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs will meet in a rematch of Super Bowl LIV at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on February 11th. The Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes proved that they were not, in fact, dead - as much of the media tried to pronounce them throughout the season. As they went into Baltimore and bottled up Lamar Jackson and the Ravens all afternoon. Meanwhile, in the NFC Championship, the 49ers were down 17 to the Lions at halftime, before they came roaring back to life in the second half, on the shoulders of a quarterback, in Brock Purdy, who looked to do more than manage the game. But before we turn our sights on whether or not Patrick Mahomes can win four titles in five years, or if this third try at adding a sixth Lombardi Trophy to the case will work in San Francisco, Jason Reid tells us how these two teams got it done on Sunday.
