75 million albums sold. 18 top ten hits recorded. Named in 2018 by Billboard as one of the top 60 female artists of all time (#35)! I’m guessing you are or have been, a Taylor Dayne fan (soundtrack of your life stuff, right here). I feel blessed to call Taylor a dear friend and can attest that she’s everything you’d hope a superstar to be—which you’ll soon experience as she opens up her heart and memories about the coolest details. Like what it was really like to open for Michael Jackson in a stadium of 60,000 people for his RAD tour. Or, what happened when Prince brought her on stage early in her career in a scene that will have you thinking, “Wait! Didn’t I just see Bradley Cooper do that with Lady Gaga in A Star is Born?!” Taylor’s memoir, Tell It To My Heart (named after one of her most popular ballads) pubs on Valentine’s Day and goes deep and vulnerable about topics you’d never guess by watching her career, starting with her tragic childhood in which her voice gave her the fire and inspiration to stay alive. Popular podcaster/TED producer/ media communications coach, Bronwyn Saglimbeni, is today’s guest co-host. I love this woman! She, like Taylor, is also a busy mom and business owner who happens to have a rockin’ rock band side hustle. Can you stand it? I’m such a singing wanna-be! Thank you for joining me for this magical conversation, punctuated by snippets of several of Taylor’s biggest hits. We’re going to talk about so much, not the least of which includes healing, the music industry, what it’s like to write brutal truths about family members who are still standing, why standing on that TED or TEDWomen stage is as scary (or scarier!) than singing in a stadium, and learning to trust yourself—a challenge for us all. There’s no holding back here, and a whole heap of heart. We're so glad you’re here. Linda xo

Unstuck Reports: Celebrity Anxiety And DepressionLife is in the striving, not the arriving.~ Seth SwirskySeth Swirsky is a consultant/coach for media professionals in Beverly Hills, CA. His experience on several levels dealing with celebrity anxiety addresses specific challenges for all of us. A New Haven, Connecticut native, Seth is a self-described "manic expressive," an American pop music songwriter (including the Grammy-nominated "Tell It To My Heart"), an author, a recording artist, a filmmaker, a political writer and a noted baseball memorabilia collector. Listen to hear brief remarks about the artists who performed his songs. He's been there. Seth may already be on your radar if you love pop music. He wrote the #1 smash hit song Tell It To My Heart for Taylor Dayne amongst many other hits for the likes of Smokey Robinson, Celine Dion, Al Green and Olivia Newton-John. Baseball lovers may have read one or all of Seth's three bestselling books, Baseball Letters, Every Pitcher Tells A Story or Something to Write Home About. In addition to baseball, Swirsky is also a huge fan of The Beatles. His full-length documentary, http://geni.us/swirsky (Beatles Stories), was chosen as an Official Selection at the 2011 European Independent Film Festival - considered the Sundance of Europe - and had its world premiere in Paris, France on April 3, 2011. This award was followed by premiering in several notable festivals throughout the country. Beatles Stories was nominated for Best Score for an Indie Film or Documentary at the 2013 Hollywood Music and Media Awards. Seth's Anxiety Conquered - Strategy & TacticsSeth is a delightful person with street experience from his own conflicts with celebrity anxiety. This Episode is a Must Listen for many reasons - not the least of which is Seth's warm good humor and can-do, get-it-done, yet humble and engaging personality. He's a celebrity who manages the different realities of celebrity self-management from fresh perspectives. Seth's Book and PerspectiveNow Swirsky brings his artistry to the psychology field with his unique new self-help book, http://geni.us/swirsky1 (21 Ways to a Happier Depression: A Creative Guide to Getting Unstuck from Anxiety, Setbacks, and Stress), His earthy, engaging observations connect with useful mindset options at the street level beyond the hallowed halls of celebrity detachment. Designed originally as a coffee table art book, 21 Ways offers simple and easily doable ideas for anyone struggling with anxiety and depression. Written in a breezy, conversational style [quite obvious in our conversation], the book is filled with 24 original watercolor pictures by the American artist, Kirsten Tradowsky. Not a linear chapter book or workbook, readers can open to any page at any time for a new idea to help take down their stress level. It's an invigorated, unorthodox opportunity for an instant Reality Reframe. Seth wrote 21 Ways to change your mind. Swirsky, a Dartmouth College graduate with a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology and a thriving Beverly Hills practice says, “I wanted to make this book feel like it's your friend — that, whenever you needed help, it is always there for you.” Swirsky developed these 21 suggestions for alleviating stress because he struggled with panic attacks for many years. The simple tried and true remedies he outlines in the book — which provides applicable self-management for feelings of depression as well — are the same ones he utilized to help himself and his many patients over the years Seth's Comments On His Mindset ToolsI grew up loving music and had jingles on national TV in college [spp-timestamp time="6:16"] Out of the clear blue in the context of great successes anxiety hit me hard [spp-timestamp time="7:28"] That anxiety remained unrelenting, daily for more than 5 years [spp-timestamp...

With the release of her first single Tell It To My Heart in 1987, Taylor Dayne was propelled into Pop-Diva-Icon status.  The Ric Wake produced track, was an instant worldwide smash at radio and on the dance charts, which paved the way for three more Top 10 hits Prove Your Love, I'll Always Love You and Don't Rush Me from her self-titled multi-platinum debut album. Some may remember her debut album having two different album covers.  One featured Taylor with big hair and extensions (typical of the late 80's) and the second cover, which came out later in 1988 sported a softer look without the big hair.  Wikipedia states that her new-found success at adult contemporary radio for her ballad I'll Always Love You was the reason for the switch-up in album covers around the time her fourth single Don't Rush Me was released. If I remember correctly Taylor was nominated for two Grammy's; one for best pop vocal performance (Tell It to My Heart) and the other for best R&B vocal performance (I'll Always Love You).  The rumor at the time was that after losing both categories, Taylor went into D-I-V-A mode backstage and ripped out her extensions.  Upset that she had not won either category and not happy with the image Arista (her label) had created for her, this was the real reason for the second album cover.  This may or may not be true, but I'm inclined to believe the latter since it fits in nicely with our perception of a TRUE DIVA.  After all, this wouldn't be the first time Arista records pigeon-holed one of their artists into an image that didn't really reflect their artistry (see P!nk). By 1990, Taylor shed the perm and released her next album Can't Fight Fate.  That album took her sound in a more pop-rock direction and served up two Top 10 singles With Every Beat of My Heart and I'll Be Your Shelter plus the number one hit Love Will Lead You Back (the latter two penned by Diane Warren). Taylor's third album Soul Dancing, returned her to her dance roots with additional production from Shep Pettibone.  Despite a strong presence and muscular vocals on the remake of the Barry White classic Can't Get Enough of Your Love (the album's lead single) the album failed to perform well and put her at odds with Arista head, Clive Davis.  Once again, rumors prevailed that he did not want the song to be the first single because it did not reflect what was going on at radio at the time.  In addition, another one of Clive's divas (Lisa Stansfield) was releasing her third studio album and leading off with another Barry White cover Never, Never Gone Give You Up, which also failed to chart well.  Lisa ended up losing her US distribution on Arista and Taylor ended up with a greatest hits album after and was cut from the roster. Taylor has since gone on to out her own independent releases and has reached the top of the Billboard Club charts multiple times (Naked Without You, Planet Love) and remains one of the most highly regarded vocalists of her generation and adored by her loyal fans. Ladies and gentlemen, please give a standing ovation for our newest induction into the Diva Hall of Fame, Miss Taylor Dayne! Oh, HAPPY GAY DAYS are here again! It's the Memorial Day Holiday weekend, the last Monday of May and the official kick-off to June Pride Month!  There are a whole host of gay happenings this weekend throughout the U.S. most notably in Pensacola, the one place to be if you're on the east coast.  The official Gay Days in Orlando kicks-off on June 3rd and it appears this year they are expanding the brand to include Ft. Lauderdale and Las Vegas (the latter increasingly becoming a very gay destination for us gay folk). In an effort to ensure you have everything you need this weekend, Party Favorz is putting out a set of tribal-lust that's certain to get you all pumped up for whatever your plans are this weekend. The adorable Jason Walker kicks the set off with his remake of the Taylor Dayne classic Tell It To My Heart, a song that is so steeped in 80s dance it would be hard to imagine anyone tackling this song and making it fresh but leave it to Jason to pull it off.  Toy Armada and DJ Grind who have been spitting out a dizzying whirl of fresh productions take the prize with their big room circuit rendition of the song.  Though, I have to give major props to DJ Yiannis who delivers an 80s revival with a millennial twist in his production. Andy Bell, one half of Erasure puts out a fresh original with Dave Aude at the helm that's destined for big things on the dance floor this summer season.  Ralphi Rosario gives the song his signature electro-tribe feel but watch out for Australia's duo Denzal Park who pack in a massive EDM production, which is going to appear on our set coming out next weekend. Danny Verde is still keeping things strong with two fresh mash-ups; one from Queen Madonna's Vogue and the other with the CeCe Peniston house classic Finally.  Our good friend Joel Dickinson also put out his own Pride mix of Finally, which is equally good and may very well find it's way onto an upcoming Pride Classic set coming your way very soon. Matt Consola who is all over the place these days brings us no less than three burners, which washes down like an ice-cold beer on a hot summer day.  One of my biggest delights and surprise finds is Division 4 (formerly Red Tape) who works with Matt on a couple of songs but more importantly, has a HUGE library of amazing 80s and 90s reworks on his SoundCloud page.  It's a wonder how he's been kept a secret for so long.  These mixes are parked right next to his excellent productions of current hits so you can trust when I say you'll be seeing more of his work on this site in future sets. For those that may have missed my Gay Pride Classics sets over the past couple of years, they are officially getting re-posted later today.  I went back and made some minor changes to two of them and some major changes to one of them that I can pretty much guarantee that those who already have them, won't want to miss out on. That's enough babble for the moment.  I hope everyone has a fresh and fun-filled weekend.  I personally have to work Saturday and Sunday but will try to make up for that on Sunday evening as I'm off on Monday hehehe.  Until we meet again …ENJOY!
