Weirdly Magical with Jen and Lou - Astrology - Numerology - Weird Magic - Akashic Records

Written version below.Venus Retrograde: Heroine's Journey — I'm keeping the price as it is. I was going to raise it, and then I listened to my intuition, which said no. Start date is October 1st, and Venus stations retrograde on October 3rd — there was a timezone error on my sales page that said the 2nd; the 3rd is correct.I've already started uploading new content to the portal — video guides, aspect breakdowns for the lead-in to the retrograde. And I want to say something I've been sitting with: I called this possibly my last run, and I don't know that's true. It's my favourite thing I do. Things are changing in my life and work, and I don't know exactly what form future iterations will take. But this one — this one — is ready, and I'm genuinely excited about it.Two tiers: the basic Journey at $397 (seven weeks, eight calls, all recorded, full course portal, pre-work videos, slides in colour and black-and-white), and the Dragon Rider add-on (an extra $500) which includes a private 30-minute one-on-one ($175 value), a year's membership in the Spiral Codex community ($600 value, beginning after the class), and a personalized gift I'll mail to you.louiseedington.com/VenusRetrograde2026Before We Dive InComing up: Cathy and I are recording on Friday, likely looking at the Aries Full Moon chart alongside the US Sibley chart — the DC chart for the full moon has exactly the same angles as the Sibley. We'll see what that means.Subscribe free on Substack for weekly posts and everything else. Spiral Weave on my website louiseedington.com — $10/month or $90/year.The Week at a GlanceThis is a week of building intensity, heading toward the Aries Full Moon on Saturday September 26th at 12:49pm Eastern. I've done a full separate video on that — go watch it for the depth. The week is the lead-in.The cards open at the end of your tether and build to fire. The astrology opens with a grinding cardinal T-square and builds to a kite configuration pointing at justice and transformation. By Saturday, the pieces come together.Key events:* Equinox — Sun enters 0° Libra — September 22nd* Pholus stations direct at 9° Capricorn — Friday September 25th* Aries Full Moon at 3° — Saturday September 26th at 12:49pm EasternOne note to carry all week: only Venus, the Sun, and Mercury have crossed the South Node and Regulus at 0° Virgo. The rest are still coming. Mars, Jupiter, Juno, Hygieia — all heading there eventually. For now, the direction is set, but the journey is ongoing. The Cards — A First GlanceFrom the Red Seeds Tarot (Linda Hill, Etsy UK) and the Witch Oracle by Angie Sullins: Seven of Torches reversed, King of Torches, Ace of Torches reversed, She of the Invisible Ally.Three fire cards and one water card — and all of them, in their different ways, saying the same thing: the answer is within. The fire is within. The magic is within. The allies you've forgotten about are within.More at the end. But hold that thread.Day by DaySunday, September 20 — Moon in Capricorn. Cardinal T-Square. The Goddess Archetypes Are Screaming. We open the week with the Moon out of bounds in Capricorn — and Pluto also out of bounds, as it will be until early December each year through 2035. More erratic, more beyond the pale, more heightened. The usual advice: more self-care than you think you need, more boundaries, more kindness to yourself. The Moon squares Saturn retrograde (the guide for Capricorn, going back over the structures and rules) and opposes Ceres in Cancer — forming a cardinal T-square at 12°–13°. Cardinals push for action. This T-square is asking, again, loudly: how are our needs being met? How are the people's needs being met? How are the needs of the most vulnerable people being met?The outer expression of this energy keeps showing up in the news. Congress being sent home until November 9th — after the midterms, before Venus and Mercury station direct — while essential legislation is pending. A building in Gaza that had been bombed collapsed further, killing twenty people and trapping nearly a hundred. These are the literal expressions of the Moon opposing Ceres: needs not being met, structures not holding, the people saying enough.Mars in Cancer squares Vesta and Eris — both in Aries, both retrograde. Mars and Eris are siblings in the mythology, and this square is in some ways the two of them working together despite the friction. Mars (assertive drive, protective instincts, cooling its jets in Cancer) squares Eris (the truth-teller for the outsiders, sharply aware of exclusion and hierarchy). Together: there's a push to assert and claim space. And there's a deep fear of being controlled or sidelined. But the square is a cardinal square — initiating. Things have to change, and Mars is moving forward toward them.Mars then opposes Juno — now direct and heading back into Aquarius. The sacred contracts of our collective life are being confronted: none of this is working. We're seeing it everywhere. The Moon opposes Asteroid Lilith — and every goddess archetype in the chart this week seems to be screaming: we need to be heard. The Divine Feminine — not just women, but that whole energy of care, reciprocity, interconnection — needs to be heard.Black Moon Lilith at 25° Sagittarius makes a fire trine to the whole Aries retrograde cluster and to Hygieia and the South Node. The answer is to burn off the old, rise up, create the new. Tune into the spirit of fire — which I experience as the fire of inspiration. That whooshing feeling when something unlocks. The Moon closes the day by trining the Sun (last major Ptolemaic aspect before the full moon, Earth-to-Earth saying we are going to build a more meaningful world) while simultaneously squaring Chiron back in Aries. There is still work to finish. Every one of us is playing a part in building what comes next — in tight community, in broader collectives, in the most private inner work. All of it matters.Jupiter in Leo trines Pallas Athena — the expander meeting the wise strategist and pattern-seer. Strategies to rise up like phoenixes. To lead from the heart rather than from the throne.Monday, September 21 — Moon Into Aquarius. Mercury Opposes Pallas Athena. Hygieia and Hekate. The Moon finishes its Capricorn passage still carrying all those T-square themes, then enters Aquarius at 1:14pm Eastern — the sign of the people, the future, the collective. Things shift slightly: from the weight of structures collapsing to the vision of what we want to build instead.Mercury in Libra opposes Pallas Athena in Aries — big new ideas for justice. New strategies being assembled. In what feels like a surreal indicator of the astrology: Steve Bannon and Bernie Sanders were reported on the same stage (not at the same time) making the same argument: the future of AI must be decided by the people, not the oligarchs. I had to read that twice. Mercury opposing Pallas Athena in the sign of justice, pulling pieces together from unexpected places, finding new strategies to challenge concentrated power.AI is part of this week's conversation. The founders are fighting amongst themselves. Companies are finding that replacing workers with AI is not delivering what was promised. The data centre heat problem remains unsolved. And amid all of it, the argument about who gets to decide the future of this technology — whether it's the few or the many — is getting louder. Hekate has her torch. The way forward is being shown.Hygieia opposes Hekate in this same cluster — holistic, preventative health in all its forms (not just physical; the health of our collective mind and leadership) facing the torchbearer at the crossroads. Which way do we go? Hekate knows. The answers are within.Mercury forms a sextile to Jupiter in Leo — big new ideas, big new plans, a real expansiveness in how we speak and think about what's possible.Tuesday, September 22 — Equinox. Sun Enters 0° Libra. The People Are Rising. The Autumn Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere, Spring in the Southern — the Sun enters 0° Libra, a world point, beginning a new season and seeding new things.I took a quick look at the equinox chart set for Washington DC, and a few things caught my eye. Venus retrograde is in the 7th house of others and open enemies. The Aries retrograde cluster is in the 12th house of hidden enemies. Uranus is in the 2nd house of values, waking people up to what isn't feeding them. Ceres sits at the base of the chart — the IC, the foundation — and she is saying: this system is not working for the people's needs. Jupiter is moving into the 5th house of joy, creativity, self-expression, and the inner child — people beginning to find that. And the Aquarius Moon is on the cusp of the 11th house — the house of causes, politics, humanitarian concerns, and the collective voice. The Moon is the people. And the people are rising.Happy equinox. The Aquarius Moon meanwhile squares Haumea (regeneration at 2° Scorpio, the exact degree where Venus and the Moon met in their occultation gate), then sextiles Neptune (let go of who you thought you were; step into interconnection), then trines Uranus — ahas, pattern-shifts, those head-explodey moments of seeing things differently. We're going to have quite a few of those this week as we build toward the full moon. The Moon squares Venus in Scorpio — digging into the shared values and power relationships that Venus is about to take us through in her retrograde. Who has power over us? Who have we given our power away to? These are not rhetorical questions this week.Hygieia trines Vesta and Eris — the holistic health of the collective in flowing conversation with the inner flame and the truth-teller. The answers are within. Tune in.The Moon closes the day by conjuncting Pluto — the shadow to the light, the buried treasure beginning to emerge. Pluto and Haumea are heading toward another of their 13 squares (which run 2022–2028), and the Moon is activating that approach. Three more squares after this one. The transformation is not done.Wednesday, September 23 — Moon Opposes Jupiter. Moon Meets Hekate and Chariklo. Moon Into Pisces. The Aquarius Moon opposes Jupiter in Leo — the people looking directly at the expanded king energy and saying: your time is limited. Jupiter is heading toward the South Node in Leo. Leaders, in the astrology world and in the wider world, are being taken down or called to account. Not necessarily the ones we want yet — but the motion is real. The Moon trines Mercury (air to air: the collective mind, speaking out, ideas flowing) and then makes what I find genuinely beautiful: the Moon meets Hekate and Chariklo, both retrograde in Aquarius, both quietly holding space and weaving the new story from the pieces that are simultaneously falling apart and falling into place. The Moon opposes Hygieia — everything heading down the South Node drain that is not for our genuine holistic flourishing, individually and collectively. Circling the drain of what's not working. And the Moon conjuncts the North Node at 29° — still that eclipse charge, still that pull toward the future. Still at the threshold.Change is coming. 29°. The anaretic degree of the liminal space. And at the very end of the day, the Moon enters Pisces — things get very emotional as we build toward the full moon. But also: clouds clearing. The feeling quality of the coming days is going to be intense and also somehow clarifying.Thursday, September 24 — Quiet Build. Lightning Hitting Water. Not a huge number of aspects — a day to let things settle and integrate as the energy builds. The Pisces Moon squares Sedna (adapt; change is coming; mutable signs pressing) then trines Haumea (ready to create from our feelings and our right brain; intuition and balance coming together) and then squares Uranus — and Louise described this perfectly: lightning hitting water. Uranus in Gemini, all those electrical awakenings and flashing ideas, square the Pisces Moon's deep emotionality and flow. Shocking. Potentially beautiful. Possibly a few jarring revelations. The Moon then trines Venus — seeing clearly about values, self-worth, how power has been given away. This is Venus retrograde territory, and we're already starting to feel it from the outside in.Asteroid Lilith squares Vesta — the original equality and the inner flame in friction, both asking the same question from different angles: what are you devoted to at the deepest level of who you are? With Chiron back in Aries, this is about healing the core self — finding the medicine of genuine individuality (not rugged power-over, but power from within) and healing the inner masculine while we're at it.Mercury trines Hekate and Chariklo — the messenger in flowing conversation with the torchbearer and the cosmic doula. The mind is starting to catch up with what the soul already knows.Friday, September 25 — Venus Day. Pholus Stations Direct. The Kite Forms. Sun Enters Libra Season Fully.Pholus stations direct at 9° Capricorn. Nine — the number of endings. Pholus is the Pandora's Box centaur — the lid-comes-off energy, the things that get out that can't be put back in. He has been retrograde in Capricorn for a long time, going back over what has been out of integrity in our institutions and structures. And now he stations direct.More things are going to come out of the box. More revelations about the structures we've been living under. More things that, once seen, cannot be unseen. This station coincides directly with the full moon approaching and the Sun making exact aspects to the basket/cradle planets. The Sun trines Pluto and Uranus, and opposes Neptune exactly — forming a kite in fire and air, with the Aries retrograde cluster as the focal point and Neptune (dissolving the old, birthing the spiritual warrior) as the tail. Big ideas for justice. New people rising up. New alliances forming in unexpected places. The Sun at 3°–4° Libra is now past the equinox and building power in the sign of balance, harmony, and — often forgotten — justice. Libra is also traditionally associated with war (as the scales of battle), and the resistance to injustice is very much Libran at its highest.New lawsuits. New strategies. New coalitions. Some of them surprising.Mercury in Libra opposes Vesta and Eris — speaking up for the inner flame, speaking up for the outsiders. Mercury past 22° Libra means it's now in the territory where Venus will station direct on November 13th. The mercury mind is already walking the ground Venus will return to.Saturday, September 26 — The Aries Full Moon. 12:49pm Eastern.Go and watch the full moon video. It's all there. What I'll say here: the Moon in Pisces makes a water trine to Mars in Cancer (finally cooling its jets, the guardian energy settling into water) before entering Aries at 6:23am Eastern — and look at what it steps into. The whole retrograde Aries pileup. Chiron, Eris, Vesta, Pallas Athena, Saturn, Manwë, Neptune. The Moon as the focal point of this kite, as the people meeting all those planets going within, reviewing, reflecting. The Moon meets Neptune (spiritual warrior; releasing who we thought we were), sextiles Sedna (adapt), sextiles Pluto (transformation), sextiles Uranus (radical awakening) — the mini grand trine activated right at the full moon.Full Moon exact at 12:49pm Eastern at 3° Aries. Fulfillment. Illumination. Something completing.Right after the full moon, the Moon conjuncts Manwë — the Law of Grace. Spontaneous resolution through internal alignment and correct action. Without external intervention. This is what the class does: guide you to take that self-directed, inner journey. Then the Moon squares Pholus — facing what we see as the lid comes off, some people extending more grace to each other than before. And one date to hold: Venus and Mercury station direct on November 13th. Congress is due back on November 9th — four days before. Mars crosses the South Node the day after that, on November 14th, alongside Jupiter. Watch this space. The Cards in DetailSeven of Torches (Wands), reversed — Lacking Courage:You may start the week feeling this. A lack of faith in yourself. Like it's all too much. Like quitting would be easier. The upright Seven of Torches is I Am Courage — and the reversal doesn't remove the courage. It asks you to look within for it rather than expecting it to come from outside. The fire is in there. It always was.King of Torches — I Am Dynamic:The more you go within — even if you begin the week feeling defeated — the more this dynamism starts to build as the full moon approaches. Things are being ignited. The King of Torches doesn't wait for permission. He knows he carries his fire within him. The full moon is the ignition point.Ace of Torches, reversed — I Am Inspired (from within):The Ace reversed is still the Ace — pure creative fire, the beginning of something. Reversed, the invitation is to find the inspiration within, not to look for the external spark. This is where the three fire cards are pointing together: defeat, then dynamism, then inspiration — all sourced from the interior. This is the Red Seeds Tarot, the deck of the Eleusinian Mysteries and the descent and return. Perfectly placed for the week Venus is about to take us underground. She of the Invisible Ally (Witch Oracle):“There are unseen forces guiding you right now. They rarely let themselves be seen, but that doesn't mean they're not there. While it's true that you often name and number your resources, you forget about the unseen ones. The invisibles are available to you always, but they tend to dwell in the higher places — energies of wonder, curiosity, and hope.Petition them. A witch will reach into these energies and swim with them through the cosmos. This is a good time for dreaming and journeying. Take a walk in nature. Seek out a credible plant shaman who can help you access the gifts of the green world. Spend time in the liminal realm with active imagination. Put yourself in the way of magic. Helpful spirits are ready to guide you, and now is the time to summon them to show themselves.”We do exactly this in the Venus Retrograde class — the active imagination, the guided journeys, the liminal realm work. Not coincidentally. And: find your inner dragon. The planets don't make anything happen. Everything is happening within you. Stuff happens, challenges happen — but how you respond to them, and how you work with them, is what matters. You are the cosmos. The invisible ally is you.Summing UpA cardinal T-square pressing on the structures that aren't working. Mars and Eris, siblings, asserting and claiming space. The equinox — a new season, a world point, a chart that says the people are rising. Pholus stationing direct with more things coming out of the box. The fire and air kite forming as the Aries Full Moon approaches. Manwë, the Law of Grace, right after the full moon. And four cards — three of them fire — that move from defeat, through dynamism, to inner inspiration, held by the unseen allies that have never left.Start the week however you need to start it. Look within. Find the fire.It was always there.— LouiseVenus Retrograde: Heroine's Journey — starts October 1st, Venus retrogrades October 3rd. $397 basic Journey; Dragon Rider add-on $500 extra. louiseedington.com/VenusRetrograde2026Cathy and I are recording on Friday — check the channel. Bear with me; Louise asked me to keep most of this in.The Chicago/UAC trip:I ran an OPA peer group for four wonderful people over four days in an Airbnb — deeply immersive, deeply draining, deeply wonderful. I gave everything I had and came out the other side genuinely moved. Then I went to the United Astrology Conference hotel, attended an OPA dinner where I got to see so many people I love, and recorded the Kepler College Book Club live from UAC with my friend Mary Gatterudz about my series book. That's on the Kepler College YouTube channel if you want a lively discussion. I also attended a pre-workshop run by Mark Jones — an English astrologer and former psychotherapist whose work I love — and finally got to meet him in person after Zoom-only connection.I didn't stay for the whole conference. 1,500 astrologers in a hotel is a little too peoply for me. But I learned something: I can go to the hotel, meet the people I want to see, and skip most of the lectures. The lectures are available to buy by recording anyway. The connection is the irreplaceable part. The OPA and The Professional Astrologer:If you're interested in becoming a more professional astrologer, I genuinely recommend OPA — the Organization for Professional Astrology. They run peer groups and mentorships, a consulting skills course, and an Astronomy for Astrologers course. What I love about their certification is that it's not a test of your techniques and knowledge — it's about how you actually work with clients. That's the whole thing. The new revised and expanded edition of The Professional Astrologer is out, and I have a chapter in it about writing for astrology. It covers everything from the power of peer groups to the pros and cons of practicing as both astrologer and psychotherapist, to the nuts and bolts of being financially viable. Worth getting a copy.Sphere and Sundry:In my gift bag from the pre-workshop was something I want to share: an essential oil by Sphere and Sundry — sphereandsundry.com. She makes what she calls talismanic materia — remedial-grade astrological elections using organic, wild-crafted ingredients and natural oils. She describes them as a good transit in a bottle. The one I received is Venus in Taurus 3, Amatory — and I genuinely feel this was meant for the Venus Retrograde class, given Venus is heading toward Scorpio and opposing Chiron in Taurus. I'll be using it. Worth checking out.Upcoming presentations:Atlanta Astrology Association, September 17th — I'm presenting on Ceres, and apparently first-time attendees can come free. Email me at louise@louiseedington.com if you'd like the invitation details. I believe it's at 7:30pm Eastern.OPA Live, September 20th — a panel of three astrologers on the Venus retrograde. A great way to hear more about the retrograde and decide if you'd like to join the class.London School of Astrology, Chiron Weekend, October 17th–18th — on Zoom, $99, and most of the proceeds go to charity. I've been recommended by Melanie Reinhart and Brian Clarke, which still makes me catch my breath. If you're interested in Chiron and what his first return to his discovery degree means, this is the weekend for you.Venus Retrograde: Heroine's Journey — we start October 1st. Three weeks and three days from when I'm recording this, and I still have slides to finish. The price remains at $397 for the basic seven-week, eight-call course. Dragon Rider adds a year of Spiral Codex membership, a 30-minute one-on-one reading with me, and a personally chosen gift I'll mail to you — all for $500 added on. First run since 2017, and it's grown considerably since then. This is not just an astrology class — it's a guided inner journey with meditations, healing tools, and more than a little magic. louiseedington.com/VenusRetrograde2026AstroTheoros has added a lot since I last mentioned them:* Terms and decans (multiple systems), zodiacal releasing, dasha (Vedic), perfections* Fixed stars, minor aspects, vertex, lots of fortune and spirit* Additional asteroids including Ceres and Haumea and Chariklo (yes!)* True/mean/oscillating Black Moon Lilith options, White Moon* Show and hide aspect lines* A way to add your own external AI assistants — they've made a conscious choice not to incorporate AI themselves, but for those who want to, they show you how* Chart copy as image in one click; lock chart; time travelCloud-based, works on any device. Code COSMICOWL at astrotheoros.com — one free month on the monthly plan, or one extra month off the yearly plan. And: Cathy and I are recording on Friday — we'll be talking about the six-hour Elon Musk documentary premiering at what I believe is the Venice Film Festival, which focuses on his involvement in the 2024 elections. I think it might be a little bit explosive. Watch for it.The Cards — A First GlanceFrom the Red Seeds Tarot, the Witch Oracle, and the Deck of Character (available to buy again — links in the description):The Hierophant reversed. The Fall. Eight of Torches reversed. The Story Keeper. The Shield. That set of five says everything about this week: the guru structure collapsing, the descent into the depths, the delays and darkness of the no-moon phase, the call to rewrite the story, and a practical shield for the extraordinary amount of information that's incoming. More at the end.The Astrology at a GlanceThis is possibly the biggest week since the basket peaked in July. On September 10th alone:* Venus enters Scorpio at 0° — the exact degree of her Cazimi/Star Point on October 23rd* Mercury enters Libra — swapping signs with Venus, both heading toward retrograde in Scorpio* Uranus stations retrograde at 5°41' Gemini* The Virgo New Moon is exact at 11:27pm Eastern (separate video — go watch it)Before that: the Moon occults Jupiter on September 8th at 15° Leo — a world point. An occultation is like an eclipse of Jupiter: the Moon literally passes across the face of the planet, hiding it. This is relatively rare, and what it passes over matters. It passes over Alaska, Canada, the USA, and Greenland. The nodes remain at 29° until October 9th. Hekate has moved back past the North Node. Venus reaches the anaretic degree of Libra. Uranus barely moves all week — it's standing still. The news will be off the charts. That's not hyperbole.Day by DaySunday, September 6 (the first day of the week)The Moon is out of bounds in Cancer — way out of bounds — and there aren't many major aspects, which makes the day quieter than what follows.Moon conjuncts Ceres — the Moon in its own sign, the Great Mother in the Moon's sign, saying together: self-care, nurture, family. I chose to come home early from Chicago rather than stay through the whole conference. The Moon conjunct Ceres was opposing my Saturn, and I listened. My second daughter got engaged this month (both daughters in August — family, family, family).Venus opposes Vesta in Aries — your inner flame, your focus and commitment, your devotion to your own identity in the world. Pay attention to what comes up around that. The Moon squares Saturn retrograde (letting go of more self-limiting beliefs), sextiles the Sun at 14° Virgo (past South Node and Regulus — we are moving, even if it doesn't feel that way yet), then crosses Asteroid Lilith and Mars in Cancer — talk to the hand; what aligned, protective, guardian action are we taking now?The Moon then squares Pallas Athena and trines Nessus — seeing the poisons more clearly, with strategy and pattern-recognition behind the seeing.Monday, September 7The Moon is still in Cancer, starting to come back in bounds but not quite there.Moon sextiles Mercury — emotions and mind integrating, coming into conversation. As we move into the dark of the moon, this is an invitation: bring your feeling and your thinking together. Let them inform each other.Moon squares Eris — more inner table-flipping. What old beliefs, assumptions, and perceptions need to be overturned within you? The outer tables are turning everywhere. The inner ones matter too.Moon opposes Juno in Capricorn — our sacred contracts with the structures we live under. What have we been living by? What new structures do we want to birth? Conservative in sign, but the opposition is pushing for something different. The Moon then makes a T-square to Vesta and Venus — everything pointing inward. What are you devoted to? What are you creating? And pay attention to what comes up around Venus territory (values, relationships, desires, justice) — she goes retrograde to 22° Libra, and you're walking that ground now.At 12:49pm Eastern, the Moon enters Leo — and immediately squares Chiron in Taurus. What medicine are you bringing into your heart and into your body? The Moon then opposes Pluto (the shadow to the surface, and then the buried treasure), trines Neptune (spiritual warrior energy, the felt sense of interconnection), and sextiles Uranus — which is almost at a complete standstill. Uranus barely moves all week. It's concentrating its energy at 5° Gemini.Tuesday, September 8 — The Jupiter Occultation at 15° LeoI need to give this one proper space. At 2:36pm Eastern, the Moon occults Jupiter at 15° Leo.Fifteen degrees of a fixed sign is a world point — a degree of collective significance, felt beyond the personal into the global. And an occultation is like an eclipse: the Moon literally passes directly across Jupiter, blocking it from view. Jupiter's expansive energy — the king, the expander, the judge, the natural law — is being hidden. Absorbed. Transformed. What does this mean? Some delay in expansion. Some pause in the opportunities that have been opening. But more than that: a transformative phase. The energy of Jupiter goes underground and re-emerges with new qualities. This is the king being taken behind closed doors for a reckoning. The path of this occultation passes over Alaska, Canada, the United States, and Greenland — countries that have presented themselves, historically, as the dominant voices in global affairs. And here is what I genuinely cannot make up: the day before, the UN voted to adopt the Equal Earth Map — a new global projection that more accurately represents the actual size of the world's continents. On this map, Africa is significantly larger than we've been taught. South America is bigger. The USA, Canada, Greenland, and Russia are smaller — a more truthful picture. The USA was the only country in the UN to vote against it.Jupiter is expansion. The occultation tracks over the countries whose mapped expansion has exceeded their actual size. The timing is extraordinary.Jupiter will meet the South Node in Leo three times as it heads toward it — the fall of kings, of superpowers, of the power-over paradigm that has organized so much of modern history. Things are evening out. We're watching it happen. After the occultation, the Moon trines Pallas Athena — the strategic warrior and pattern-seer. The Moon is back in bounds. The patterns are becoming visible. The Moon starts the day at 6° Leo — the discovery degree of Chariklo. Note that. And Mercury in Virgo trines Juno — sacred contracts looked at through the lens of stewardship, meaningful work, the humble desire to do the right thing rather than the right thing as performance.Wednesday, September 9 — Dark Moon. Moon at the Eclipse Degree. Moon Conjuncts South Node.We are entering the dark of the moon — the three-day no-moon phase before the Virgo New Moon on Thursday night. The Moon is in Leo, moving toward the Sun, getting within 30° of it. And it starts the day at 20° Leo — the exact degree of the August 12th Solar Eclipse. The Moon conjuncts Hygieia at that eclipse degree — holistic, preventative health. Then trines Pallas Athena, trines Vesta, sextiles Venus at the anaretic 29° Libra. Everything pressing toward the border crossing. At 3:17pm Eastern, the Moon conjuncts the South Node at 29° — the nodes holding that eclipse degree until October 9th, charged with everything that's unfolded since August 12th. The Moon — the people, the collective emotional body — meeting the drain of the old paradigm. Having just occulted Jupiter the king. Having just been at the eclipse degree. Having just moved through all those aspects.Fall of kings. Fall of leaders. Fall of the power-over paradigm. The Moon and the people conjunct the South Node at the degree of the eclipse. You literally cannot make this up.After the South Node conjunction, the Moon moves into Virgo and conjuncts Regulus — which happens every month now, as the Moon cycles through, but this month it carries the full weight of what's been building. And Venus, still at the anaretic 29°, simultaneously sextiles the South Node and trines the North Node — releasing and building simultaneously. She is leading. After her retrograde, she is heading for the Aquarius North Node. She already knows the destination.Hekate has moved back beyond the North Node into Aquarius, going back over the ground she needs to integrate before moving forward again.Thursday, September 10 — Sign Changes and a New MoonWhat a day. Honestly, what a day.At 4:06am Eastern, Venus enters Scorpio. At 0° Scorpio — the exact degree of her Cazimi/Star Point on October 23rd, the heart of her retrograde. She is stepping into the territory she will descend through, previewing the deepest point of her underworld journey. And this Star Point at 0° Scorpio is the last Scorpio Venus Star Point in our lifetimes — I believe the next isn't until 2177. It is also the star point return for the USA. Make of that what you will. The underground river of the Venus retrograde is flowing. You can feel it if you listen. The Virgo Moon squares Uranus — which is barely moving, preparing to station.Ceres opposes Pholus — where have our needs not been met? The lid is off. Pandora's box, again. Seeing what we needed to see so we can finally move forward. At 12:20pm Eastern, Mercury enters Libra — swapping with Venus in a kind of cosmic dance. Venus has left Libra; Mercury enters. Both are heading for Scorpio and retrograde. Both will station direct on November 13th — the same day. This is rare, and I'll go deep on what it means in the Venus retrograde class.Venus at 0° Scorpio opposes Chiron in Taurus — the axis of the entire retrograde. The wound and the medicine. What is our medicine for becoming fully human in a world that has forgotten it?At 2:27pm Eastern, Uranus stations retrograde at 5°41' Gemini. Five degrees — the number of change. Gemini — media, news, communication, information. Mercury at 0° Libra (a world point) as Mercury's own sign stations into retrograde. The news is going to be off the charts. The Sabian symbol for 6° Gemini (rounding up): Workmen drilling for oil. James Burgess says: an insatiable questing for knowledge and information that can take us deep into emotional process and the uncovering of dark secrets. A zealous appetite for knowledge and understanding. The Omega symbol (Sandbach): In the far north, an ancient tower carved of ice. The degree angel is Manakel — accountability and knowledge of good and evil. He says: you have so many thoughts and perceive so many ideas that it can become difficult to decide where to focus. Don't let this overwhelm you. Keep focused on the flow. There is a spiritual rightness at work beneath all things. The simple intent to stay attuned to it is your magic. The Chandra symbol: A claw foot holding a ball. The attempt to grasp wholeness, to overcome Gemini's fragmented quality — fixing the liquid into a substantial form from which you can ascend to see the surrounding territory. The struggle is not in trying to put things together. It's to resist the distractions of lesser and trivial things. The Pleiadian symbol: A sinkhole opens up in the earth. Things are collapsing. The Azoth symbol: A book of formulas. Astrology is a symbolic language, just as mathematics is, just as alphabets are. We are writing new stories. Which brings us to the Story Keeper arriving in the cards. At 11:27pm Eastern, the Virgo New Moon — exactly nine hours after Uranus stations retrograde. I've done a full separate video and post for this. Please watch it. But know that the new moon landing nine hours after Uranus's retrograde station, with Venus and Mercury both freshly in new signs, with the basket energy still active — this is not a quiet new moon. The seeds you plant tonight carry all of this.Friday, September 11 — 25th Anniversary. Venus Day.Rest in peace all who were lost on this day.The Moon is in Virgo, just minutes past the new moon, still in the no-moon phase. New lunar cycle beginning. The Moon sextiles Mars — what aligned action are we taking now? Not the push-push-push of unchecked ambition, but the stewardship energy, the guardian energy, the action that comes from genuinely wanting to be of service. The Moon opposes Nessus — still more poisons to be named and seen. But I don't think we're much longer in this. I really don't.Mars in Cancer squares Pallas Athena in Aries — they're moving apart, but Mars is still learning: less attack, more guardian. Less force, more protection. From within, this means the same. Talk to your inner Mars. The Moon trines Juno and then moves into Libra at 7:51pm Eastern.Saturday, September 12 — Moon Conjuncts Mercury. Air Kite. Cardinal Grand Cross. The Libra Moon conjuncts Mercury at 2°31' Libra — and note the degree: 2°31' Libra directly opposes the last Venus Star Point at 2° Aries (March 22, 2025). The previous Venus retrograde's deepest point, directly activated as the Moon and Mercury meet in the sign of balance and justice. Venus is reaching back through time, reminding us of what was seeded then, and asking: what has been growing since? What is ready to be harvested — or released?Balance, harmony, justice, scales — the Mercury-Moon conjunction in Libra is a fertile meeting of heart and mind in the sign that seeks fairness. There could be some genuinely good news today. The Moon trines Pluto (more shadows illuminated, more buried treasure found), opposes Neptune forming a kite, and trines Uranus still at its station point. Fire and air kite pointing at Neptune in Aries — the spirit of new beginning, the dissolution of the old, the love-thy-neighbor energy as the basis for everything we're trying to build.Juno squares Pallas Athena — our sacred contracts pressing against the wise strategy. For me, this is the table-flipping energy of Eris in a longer arc: where unfettered power-over and greed have caused harm to people, the contracts that maintained that are collapsing. And we can have something better. The form of things that's collapsing — in politics, in institutions, in how we organize society — was always imperfect. What we build next doesn't have to be.Mercury trines Pluto, then opposes Neptune, then trines Sedna and Uranus — an air kite closing the week. Rational understanding, shadow revealed, adapting to what needs to change, the breakthrough aha moments. Stay with it all. Let it sift. The week closes with the Moon squaring Pholus and Ceres and then opposing Saturn — a brief Cardinal Grand Cross, initiating. New things beginning. Something that was seeded at the new moon is putting out its first tentative root. The Cards in DetailThe Hierophant, reversed:The original Hierophant — one who reveals sacred things — was from the Eleusinian Mysteries. There was one male Hierophant and two female Hierophantides, appointed for life, who revealed divine knowledge to the initiates and welcomed them with the laws of the Mysteries: only those with pure hands and hearts could enter the rites. But in the last quarter of the Great Wheel — as the patriarchy rose, as the rites were co-opted, as direct access to the sacred was replaced by institutional intermediaries — the Hierophant became the one who stood between you and the divine. This card, reversed, is saying clearly: you have access to divine knowledge yourself. You do not need an intercessory. Let go of the attachment to gurus and external teachers as the gatekeepers of truth. You can challenge the tradition. Everyone — everyone — has access to the sacred within them. This arrives in the week that Jupiter is occulted, that the South Node continues its fall of kings, that the astrology community continues reckoning with its own pedestals. Make no mistake: the Hierophant reversed is speaking directly to all of it.The Fall:In this deck, this is Persephone going into the underworld — and that descent is what the rites at the Eleusinian Mysteries were really about: the fall of the soul into the orbit of the Moon, not as punishment, but as initiation. The patriarchy reframed the fall as shame — the fall from grace, the fall from perfection, the original sin. The real fall, as I understand it, was the descent into the patriarchal paradigm itself. And that is what's falling now.Persephone descending is Venus descending. The Venus retrograde is coming. The underground journey — done consciously, with guides, with courage — is not the fall from grace. It is the fall toward grace.Eight of Torches (Wands), reversed:In the dark of the moon, with Uranus at a standstill and so many signs changing simultaneously — yes, you may feel like you lack momentum. Delays, obstacles, nothing quite moving forward. That's the reversal. But here's what's actually happening: knowledge is being revealed to you. There is so much coming in this week — the occultation, the sign changes, the station, the new moon, the news. The work is to let it in without being overwhelmed. Receive it. Let it settle. When the moon starts to gain light — which it will, very shortly — you will be able to see more clearly. The Story Keeper (Witch Oracle):“You are made of moonlight and stories. The night and the trees know this. Which is why, when you need a change in your narrative, you would do well to seek their counsel. Some stories lift us up and encourage our potential, our inherent magic. Other stories limit, diminish, or destroy our worth. You are being asked right now to consider which stories you are listening to, and which ones you are telling.Telling yourself a story of empowerment will bring a surge of energy to you. Notice how your shoulders drop, your breath deepens, your heart warms. Telling yourself a story of scarcity or disempowerment leaves you tight, small, and cramped. While we are very selective about the books we read and the stories we watch on film, we are far less selective about the stories we tell ourselves. Now is the time to question the narratives you are allowing into the ear of your spirit. Are they helpful or hurtful?A witch acknowledges her stories of lack and frustration, but she chooses to focus on the ones that nurture her vitality.”This is the Azoth symbol of the week — the book of formulas. We are writing new stories. The Story Keeper asks: which one are you writing? The Shield (Deck of Character):This is an extra card this week, from a deck I love that's available to buy again — link in the description. It's the dark of the moon. A lot of information is incoming — the news around the Uranus station and the new moon is going to be significant. The Shield says: energetically, protect yourself. Not to deflect the knowledge — we need that — but to deflect the inconsequential things. Create a boundary so you can collect what matters, and let it sift in its own time. This is a big week. You don't have to process all of it in real time.Summing UpThe Jupiter occultation at a world point, tracking over countries whose global dominance is being rebalanced on the new world map. The Moon conjuncting the South Node at the eclipse degree, the people meeting the drain, having just occulted the king. Venus entering the exact degree of her coming Star Point in Scorpio — the last Scorpio Star Point in our lifetimes. Mercury entering Libra as Venus leaves, both heading toward their retrogrades and their simultaneous direct stations. Uranus stationing at the number of change in the sign of media and news. The Virgo New Moon nine hours later. A cardinal Grand Cross to close. The Hierophant reversed says: you have always had access to the sacred. You don't need anyone between you and it.The Fall says: Persephone's descent is not a punishment. It is an initiation. The Eight of Torches says: let the knowledge land. It's doing that right now.The Story Keeper says: question the narratives you're allowing into the ear of your spirit. And the Shield says: you are going to need good energetic boundaries this week. There is a spiritual rightness at work beneath all of this. Stay attuned to it.That is your magic.— LouiseVenus Retrograde: Heroine's Journey — starts October 1st. $397 for the full journey (payment plan available). Edited Transcript Below for Readers on Substack. A pivotal astrological week centered on the Lunar Eclipse on August 28 and a rare sequence of personal planets (Sun, Mercury, Venus) crossing the South Node and Regulus at 0° Virgo — a pattern Louise frames as accelerating the "fall of kings" and a long-term paradigm shift toward humility, stewardship, and inner work. The overarching theme is surrender, self-care, and transformation amid heightened emotional intensity.Venus Retrograde Heroine's Journey 2026 https://www.louiseedington.com/VenusRetrograde2026Features and Press ReleasesUSA Today! https://www.usatoday.com/press-release/story/39476/louise-edington-launches-landmark-venus-retrograde-program-as-she-approaches-15-years-in-business/https://www.womansworld.com/contributors/louise-edington-fear-astrologyhttps://feedvoice.com/louise-edington-on-why-midlife-women-are-turning-to-astrology-for-self-trust-instead-of-self-improvement/International Business Times https://www.ibtimes.com/louise-edington-reclaiming-language-stars-through-intuition-embodiment-matrifocal-wisdom-3803596Wellness Voice https://wellnessvoice.com/louise-edington-on-reclaiming-the-language-of-the-stars-through-intuition-embodiment-and-matrifocal-wisdom/Red Seeds Tarot https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/TheRedSeedsW.I.T.C.H. First call is October 1st. The price is holding through the end of August, so this week is your last chance at the current rate. And — this matters, so I'm saying it clearly — I offer partial scholarships. If you genuinely cannot afford the class, please email me at louise@louiseedington.com with a “pay what you can” offer. I do believe in some form of exchange, but I believe even more in this work reaching the people who need it. Please be in integrity — you don't need to give me your life story. Just be honest. louiseedington.com/VenusRetrograde2026My article — “Can We Let Evolutionary Astrology Evolve?” — is on Substack now. I'm not calling for anyone to cancel evolutionary astrology as a whole. I'm calling for patience, grace, and recognition that the practice itself is already evolving — which is rather fitting. I've had people come out of the woodwork in response to it, in good ways, and there will be follow-ups. Subscribe free on Substack to get it in your inbox.Spiral Weave / Spiral Codex membership — $10/month or $90/year — is where we go deeper together. Live calls, community, and the monthly Ask Me Almost Anything. Link below. Membership is OFF Substack going forward. The Big Picture: Three Planets Cross RegulusBefore we move into the week, I want to give you the context that has been building for months — because it reaches a significant milestone this week.Regulus — the Royal Star, one of the four great fixed stars of the ancient sky — moved from Leo into Virgo from our perspective in late 2011. Before Virgo, it spent approximately 2,160 years in Leo. Before that, 2,160 years in Cancer. And before that, Gemini. The astrologer Michael Lutin — rest in peace, a truly lovely man — apparently wrote about Regulus's ingress into Virgo in practically every post after it happened. His words, which I keep coming back to: “Long after this foolish war is over, Regulus in Virgo will produce beings — the future stewards of the Earth and planets. The goddesses.” And he also said: kings in rags. Now here is where we are this week: the three most personal solar system bodies — Venus, the Sun, and Mercury — are all crossing the South Node and then Regulus, one after another, for the first time since the South Node met Regulus at 0° Virgo.Venus crossed first. The Sun crossed last week. And this Tuesday: Mercury crosses the South Node and then meets Regulus. These are the three bodies closest to the Sun — the inner solar system, our most personal planetary energies. In order from Sun outward: Mercury, Venus, Earth. All three crossing that symbolic drain and meeting Regulus in its new sign. Not kings. Something different. Something more humble, more curious, more meaningful, more Virgo.I also want to mention the larger wheel. I believe the turning of the ages began in 1781, when Uranus was discovered — that moment of collective breakthrough also marked the start of the Industrial Revolution. It takes a very long time to turn the great wheel. We are roughly three ages back from when the descent began — Gemini to Cancer to Leo — and now, with Regulus in Virgo, we are at the point between the descent and the return. Beginning to push back up. That is where we are.Three Out-of-Bounds Bodies — and a PrescriptionThis week, the Moon, Mars, and Pluto are all out of bounds simultaneously. That is not nothing. The Moon out of bounds means our emotions are running beyond the normal range — heightened, eccentric, more extreme in some direction.Mars out of bounds (since August 3rd) means protective instincts and defensive reactions have been especially reactive. Mars in Cancer is already sensitive and protective; out of bounds, it's been operating well beyond convention. The good news: Mars comes back in bounds on Friday the 28th, the eclipse day.Pluto out of bounds happens for about three months around this time of year, and will continue until 2035 — after which Pluto never goes out of bounds again in any of our lifetimes. Rosie Finn's book Persephone's Revolution documents the pattern: Pluto out of bounds to the south has historically coincided with people rising up, more peaceful collective energy. Pluto out of bounds to the north coincided with the Second World War. We are in the south-running period. That is, in Rosie's words, the revolution. The prescription for all of this: radical self-care. Not the usual amount. More than you'd normally think necessary. Out-of-bounds planets go beyond the norm — so your self-care needs to go beyond your norm too. Keep your boundaries. Retreat when you need to. Do what genuinely restores you.The Cards — A First GlanceFrom the Red Seeds Tarot and the Witch Oracle: The Hanged Goddess (upright!), Two of Bees reversed, Queen of Seeds reversed, and The Companion.Pause. Inner turmoil. Inner pillars. And your body as the cauldron. Every single card is pointing in the same direction: inward. More at the end.Day by DaySunday, August 23 — Sun Meets Regulus. The Third Great Crossing Begins. The Moon in Capricorn, out of bounds, opens the week by opposing Ceres — the Great Mother, the one I wrote my book on. Self-care first. What are your needs right now, really? Then the Moon squares Neptune — forming a mutable T-square that forces change and says: surrender. Let go. Trust the flow.At 3:12am Eastern, the Sun meets Regulus exactly at 0°11' Virgo. Venus is already past this point, heading ahead. Now the Sun has joined her. Two personal planets past the drain, past Regulus, heading toward what comes next — including the Venus Star Point, the Cazimi in Scorpio, on October 23rd. (That Star Point, incidentally, squares 20° Aquarius — a potent point I'll speak to more in the Venus class.)Venus is now falling in the sky — every morning in the east she rises closer and closer to the rising Sun, descending back toward conjunction. We are in the falling phase of her cycle. The invitation: more humility, more curiosity, more meaning, more Virgo. Less performance, less pedestal energy. Let it go.Happy birthday, Virgo humans. Your season is carrying something remarkable.Mercury in Leo trines Eris — the messenger meeting the original table-turner. Eris does not like artifice. She does not like the glitz and vanity and pedestal energy of shadow Leo. She is the one who says I was created equal and I will not submit — and she says it again now through Mercury. Expect more news of people falling from pedestals. More truth being spoken. More of the old guard losing its grip. The Moon opposes Mars (both out of bounds — very heightened), then conjuncts Asteroid Lilith (talk to the hand, enough) and Pholus (Pandora's box wide open). We've had enough. The lid is coming off more things. There is grief in all of this. There is loss. People are going to be feeling it this week — whether it's playing out in their personal lives or in the collective. Both are real. The Sun in Virgo trines Chiron — an Earth trine. Healing the wounds around being human. Around how we've treated each other. Around our severed relationship with the Earth itself. This is an ongoing theme for the Chiron-in-Taurus years, and the Sun newly in Virgo is making it tangible. The out-of-bounds Moon squares Saturn retrograde — initiating, letting go of old institutions, old rules, old self-limiting beliefs. The structures that are stagnant. They are going.Monday, August 24 — Capricorn Moon. Radical Self-Care. The Inner Crossroads. The Moon is still out of bounds in Capricorn all day — and Capricorn Moons can feel a bit cold, emotionally blunt. With everything going on right now, you or people around you may seem more shut down than usual. That's self-protection, not coldness. Give yourself and others some latitude. The prescription is clear: more self-care than you normally think you need. Out-of-bounds planets go beyond the norm. Match that. The Moon squares Venus — both out of bounds, both in their own way asking: what do we value? What are we creating? What relationships, contracts, and connections need new boundaries? Where are we letting go of the old and building something genuinely different?Mercury trines Vesta — the messenger in conversation with the inner flame. This isn't coming from outside. The flame is within. The article I wrote on evolutionary astrology (link below) speaks to this — the turning of astrology toward helping people explore their interior landscape, rather than telling them what it means. The Moon sextiles Nessus — seeing the toxins within and without. Bloodletting the inherited poisons, the patterns that have been running. Then the Moon squares Pallas Athena — wise strategy, wise justice. How are we going to fight for this? And how do we find the strategy within ourselves first?Mercury opposes Hecate at 28°57' Aquarius. Hecate — the torchbearer at the crossroads, the triple moon goddess — is in the sign of the future, the collective, the Aquarian North Node. Mercury opposing her says: the crossroads is within. The way forward is through the interior, not through the external drama. Tune in.The Moon squares Eris to close the day — tables still turning, within and without.Tuesday, August 25 — Mercury Crosses the South Node. Mercury Meets Regulus. Vesta Stations Retrograde.Three major events. One day.At 5:01am Eastern, the Moon enters Aquarius — back in bounds, or very close to it, stepping into the sign of the future. At 5:04am Eastern, Mercury conjuncts the South Node. The drain. The third major personal planet to cross this threshold since the South Node met Regulus at 0° Virgo.First Venus crossed — love, values, our relationship to all things, our social and material world. Then the Sun — the very core of our solar system, our identity, the ego and the heart simultaneously. Now Mercury — the mind, the voice, communication, the messenger between worlds.Three, in succession. All releasing through the drain. All letting go of old ideas, old beliefs, old ways of thinking about leadership and hierarchy and who gets to be on a pedestal. And then: at 7:04am, Mercury enters Virgo. Crossing from Leo (the voice of the heart) into Virgo (the meaningful, discerning, humble voice). Mercury is strong in Virgo — curious, detail-oriented, wanting to find the meaning, wanting to get it right not for praise but because doing the right thing matters. At 9:26am, Mercury conjuncts Regulus at 0° Virgo.Three planets. Venus. Sun. Mercury. All having now crossed Regulus in Virgo for the first time since the South Node met it. All going down the drain of the age of kings, and emerging — more humble, more curious, more Virgo. Kings in rags. Future stewards of the Earth and planets. The goddesses.I am just like... I love astrology. And I love Michael Lutin for seeing this. The Moon in Aquarius then squares Haumea, trines Sedna (adapt or die, but also — so many kinds of death), and conjuncts Pluto — the basket activation again. The Moon carries the collective emotional energy through the 4° basket degree, four legs of stability, and we are held.At 2:01pm Eastern, Vesta stations retrograde. Vesta — the inner flame, focus, commitment, sacred devotion — goes retrograde. And look at the Aries cluster now: Neptune retrograde, Manwë retrograde, Saturn retrograde, Pallas Athena retrograde, Eris retrograde, and now Vesta retrograde. All those Aries energies — the new beginning, the identity in the emerging aeon — going back, reviewing, revisiting. We are not finished with what Aries has been teaching us about who we are becoming. The retrograde does not cancel the flame. It turns it inward to assess what it's actually devoted to.Mercury in Virgo trines Chiron — and I want to sit with this one. Virgo, in the older traditions, was the healer, the witch, the medicine carrier, the one with the pouch of herbs who knew how to tend bodies and communities. Chiron is the wounded healer, the shaman, the one who becomes medicine through the wound. Together: be the medicine. Not just know about healing. Embody it.The Moon then trines Uranus — the basket activates again, and we are held in it. Still. Despite everything.Wednesday, August 26 — Moon Opposes Jupiter. The Pedestal Shadow. The Aquarius Moon opposes Jupiter and Hygieia in Leo — and I find this potent. Jupiter in Leo is the expander in the sign of kings, of leaders, of the performer. And now the Moon — the people, the collective emotions — is directly across from it, in the sign of the future. What we're starting to see, I think, is not just the fall of individual gurus and leaders. We're starting to see the shadow of how we've participated in putting them there. Not just in them, but in us. The energy of wanting someone to tell us the answers. The hunger for authority figures. The guru culture, the cult-of-personality culture, the tendency to surrender our inner judge to someone else's version of truth. Jupiter expanded all of that. Now we're looking at it clearly.Jupiter will go retrograde at some point soon, which means it will turn back to review that Leo territory more carefully. Watch that. The Moon sextiles Saturn — self-limiting beliefs, old structures. Let them go. And Mercury sextiles Haumea — the Great Mother of regeneration. All three personal planets are now moving toward Scorpio, toward the Venus Star Point, toward the Venus and Mercury retrogrades. It is going to be intentional. The Venus class exists to help you work with this from the inside out — the meditations are channeled, not scripted, so each journey is genuinely different.Thursday, August 27 — Moon Into Pisces. Mercury Cazimi at 4° Virgo. Moon Conjuncts North Node. The Moon moves through Aquarius — sextiling Pallas Athena (strategy), conjuncting Chariklo (the cosmic doula is holding space for the story we're weaving), sextiling Eris and Vesta (burn things off, from devotion and inner flame) — and then meets Hecate at the crossroads. Always. She is always there. And then the Mercury Cazimi — the Sun and Mercury meet exactly, in a superior (exterior) conjunction at 4° Virgo. Mercury is behind the Sun from our perspective, meaning it's on the far side — gathering information from outer space, which it then channels through the solar core. These exterior Cazimis are often moments of receiving rather than transmitting: something is coming in that Mercury will carry forward toward the coming retrograde.4° Virgo. The basket degree, again. Four legs of the table. When the basket peaked in July, the Moon at 4° of Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn each activated the whole configuration in turn. Now Mercury and the Sun meet at 4° Virgo. The messenger is filled with what it needs to carry toward the Venus retrograde and then into its own retrograde in Scorpio. Information from the far side, encoded in the cauldron, to be distilled in the descent to come.At 3:03pm Eastern, the Moon enters Pisces — and the emotional waters deepen as we move toward the eclipse tomorrow. The Moon sextiles Chiron and trines Haumea — a water grand trine still operational, eroding, regenerating. The Moon squares Sedna — adapt, or be changed. The Moon conjuncts the North Node — the Aquarian future, the care-for-each-other energy, the people rising up. Forget the labels. Just vote for the person who genuinely wants to care for people. They are human. They will not be perfect. But listen to what they say.Friday, August 28 — Venus Day. The Lunar Eclipse. Mars Back in Bounds. The full lunar eclipse post and video cover all the detail — please do go and read/watch those. But here's what matters from this forecast's perspective. The eclipse is at 4° Pisces/Virgo — the basket degree, the number of stability. Four legs. We are held.Mars moves back in bounds on this day. He's been out of bounds since August 3rd — erratic, sensitive, defensive, more extreme than usual. Now, at last, he comes back within the established range. You may notice a very slight settling of some of that reactive, overly self-protective energy. Mars in Cancer at its highest is the fierce guardian — protective of home and family, yes, but from love rather than fear.Mercury square Uranus exactly at 5° — number of change. Radical shift in perceptions. Could come as shocking news, shocking falls, or shocking good news. The Uranian energy doesn't telegraph which. Stay awake. The Moon in Pisces trines Ceres — amid eclipse energy, Ceres in Cancer says: meet your needs. Take care of yourself. Your family and community. There may be grief around ancestors, around family, around inheritance. Let the water move through. The Sun in Virgo sextiles Ceres and squares Uranus — more eclipse activation, more radical change in the practical, meaningful sign of Virgo. This is the call to do things differently in the everyday, the ordinary, the somatic. Virgo is the medicine carrier. Be the medicine. The Moon trines Mars (now back in bounds) — water to water, Cancer and Pisces. The guardian and the depths. The eclipse is very emotional. Let it be. Surrender. The Hanged Goddess is upright this week precisely because we need her permission to pause. The Moon also trines Asteroid Lilith — talk to the hand. We are not going back to the old way.Saturday, August 29 — Quiet Close. Moon Into Aries. The Moon in Pisces closes the week quietly — meeting Nessus (the poisons, the inherited patterns, a last look at what we're releasing in this eclipse), then sextiling Juno (contracts, the renegotiating continues). And then, at 10:37pm Eastern, the Moon enters Aries — and we end the week with the Moon about to move through that entire retrograde cluster: Neptune, Manwë, Saturn, Pallas Athena, Eris, and Vesta, all revisiting, reflecting, reviewing, in the sign of new beginnings. As the week closes: Venus, the Sun, and Mercury are the only major planetary bodies on the Virgo side of Regulus and the South Node. All the rest are still coming. It will take a while. This is a turning of a great wheel, not the flipping of a switch. But the three most personal planets are leading the way. Be more meaningful. Be more curious. Be more humble. Be the medicine. The Cards in DetailThe Hanged Goddess — I Am Paused (upright this time):In the Red Seeds Tarot by Linda Hill (find her on Etsy, UK), the Hanged Goddess is Demeter — the Great Mother who, in the myth, became weary of both mortals and gods and withdrew to her newly built temple, closing the door to everyone. She knew that to invoke the powers of healing, she would need silence and isolation. And so she paused.“A change of perspective is much needed. The complexity of life can imbalance us at times, leaving us feeling lost, drained, exhausted. Confusion surrounds us, and we can't see the wood for the trees. Have we forgotten who we are? What has brought us to this point? Is it time to stop and pause? Old cycles, habits, poor self-care may have blocked our way. It's time to surrender to the self and allow the depths of our being to open gently. It is not necessary to hurry or try to direct what should happen next. There is really nothing for us to do but wait. Such a position helps us to see things in a very different light. New perspectives will arise. There is much to come from this.”Herman Hesse: “Within you there is a stillness and sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself.”This is Demeter closing the temple door. This is the invitation: close the door. Just for a while. Let the silence in. Let the new perspective arise. Two of Bees (Swords), reversed — Inner Turmoil:This week there may be anxiety, inner turmoil, indecision. Everything feels tense inside. Reversed, this card asks for all the inner work — going within rather than pushing outward, balancing the nervous system, retreating, doing the self-care. The Hanged Goddess gave you the permission. Take it.This is strong energy. The eclipses are strong. You do not have to perform having it together right now.Queen of Seeds (Pentacles), reversed — Inner Pillars:In this deck there are two Queens of Seeds, and they both came out this week. They embrace the Divine Feminine — nurture, healing, generosity, intuition, stability, and service. Like the Caryatids — the sculpted figures from the Eleusinian Mysteries who literally held up the sanctuary — these queens hold things up.“We can be supportive and in service of those in need, whilst always remembering to nurture, support, and stabilize ourselves first. This feminine energy has agency: self-sufficient, strong, kind, empowered, and belonging to no gender. These queens held up the Eleusinian sanctuary for many years, on many levels. These queens hold us up. Know that we are supported and always cared for.”Reversed this week, I read these Queens as pointing you toward the inner pillars of support — the ones that don't require anyone else's permission or presence. And to remember Michael Lutin's words: future stewards of the Earth and planets, the goddesses. That doesn't mean only women. It means the goddess energy — the nurturing, supportive, reciprocal, holding energy — within all of us.The Companion (Witch Oracle):Your body. The cauldron. It has appeared before and it keeps appearing because the message keeps being needed.“Your body, like a cauldron, holds the energy of what you put into it. Are you putting shame, diminishment, or rejection into it? Or acceptance, appreciation, adoration?Science would have you believe your body is an experiment. Religion would have you believe your body is a sin. A witch would have you believe your body is a marvel — a cauldron of celebration, home to spells of delight, healing, and wonder.Your body is a sacred companion. She is the one entity that will never leave you during your journey as a human. She is always working on your behalf to restore, heal, and create the balance that allows you to participate in this life. This kind of loyalty deserves devotion, not diminishment.Shed the weight of expectations. Trim down the thoughts of too much and not enough. Dance like your hips move mountains. Put some magic of unabashed self-approval in your cauldron, and witness how the steam of that self-esteem wafts out into the world — passing on permission for others to feel the same about their unique shape.A witch understands that liking and loving herself, her body, just as it is, in a toxic patriarchy, is an act of rebellion.Be the rebel.”And here is what I want to add: your body is also the cradle. It is the basket. It is the cauldron that is being held in the larger cauldron of these four great outer planets at 4°. You are held. Your body is held. The transformation is happening inside it, and through it, and because of it.Summing UpMercury crosses the South Node and meets Regulus. Vesta stations retrograde, joining the entire Aries cluster in reflection. The Mercury Cazimi at the basket degree of 4° Virgo brings through what needs to be carried toward the Venus and Mercury retrogrades. Mars comes back in bounds on eclipse day. The lunar eclipse arrives at 4° Pisces — held, stable, held. And four cards all pointing inward: pause. The turmoil is real, and it belongs inside where you can work with it. The inner pillars of support are there. Your body is the cauldron, the companion, the sacred rebel.Three planets have now crossed Regulus in Virgo. Kings in rags. Future stewards of the Earth and planets. The goddesses. We are in the birth canal, and we are pushing.Go close the temple door for a while. It's the first time we've done a Seasonal Special in a while, but this week we're celebrating the harvest and exploring the history and folklore of Lughnasa and Lammastide. We begin by discussing the Festival of First Fruits and the Eleusinian Mysteries of the Classical World, before getting into the nitty gritty of Lughnasa, or 'The Aseembly of Lugh.' From Irish festivals of games, hand-fasting rituals and ceremonial fires to a PR stunt for the Roman Emperor Augustus and all the way through to the 19th century Gaelic revival, Lughnasa has changed a fair bit over time. We have a brief brush with the Burryman of South Queensferry, then explore the king of the vegetative spirits himself, John Barleycorn and the archetype of the Dying and Rising God. The episode is accompanied by a selection of English poetry, exploring the harvest from the differing perspectives of Robert Herrick, John Donne, Thomas Hardy, Ted Hughes and William Wordsworth. We've also included a live recording of our version of the traditional song 'John Barleycorn' from Black Shuck Festival in 2025. We really hope you find the episode relaxing and enjoyable, and we will be back to reap the season more on Thursday, when Eleanor will be giving a creepy reading of Martin's story The Corn Maiden...Three Ravens is a Myth and Folklore podcast hosted by award-winning writers Martin Vaux and Eleanor Conlon.Released on Mondays, each weekly episode focuses on a historic county, exploring the heritage, folklore and traditions of the area, from ghosts and mermaids to mythical monsters, half-forgotten heroes, bloody legends, and much, much more. Then, and most importantly, the pair take turns to tell a new version of an ancient story from that county - all before discussing what that tale might mean, where it might have come from, and the truths it reveals about England's hidden past...Bonus Episodes are released on Thursdays plus Local Legends episodes on Saturdays - interviews with acclaimed authors, folklorists, podcasters and historians with unique perspectives on that week's county. With a range of exclusive content on Patreon too, including audio ghost tours, the Three Ravens Newsletter, and monthly Three Ravens Film Club episodes about folk horror films from across the decades, why not join us around the campfire and listen in?Learn more at www.threeravenspodcast.com, join our Patreon at www.patreon.com/threeravenspodcast, and find links to our social media channels here: https://linktr.ee/threeravenspodcastREGISTER FOR THE TALES OF SOUTHERN ENGLAND TOURVisit our website Join our Patreon Social media channels and sponsors Hosted on Acast. Donald Robertson is a cognitive behavioral psychotherapist, author of over nine books, and one of the founding voices in the modern Stoicism movement. He has spent over 30 years studying how ancient Greek and Roman philosophy intersects with contemporary psychology, and in this conversation we start where it all begins: the maxim carved into the temple of Apollo at Delphi. Know thyself. We explore what it actually meant, who said it, and why it still matters more than most self-help advice written in the last century. What We Dive Into:1. The Stoics drew a sharp line between what actually happens and the value judgments we add on top of it. To say something "is awful" treats our emotional reaction as a fact about the world.2. Of all the emotions that derail a life, anger gets the least attention in therapy, self-help, and honest self-reflection.3. In the ancient world, wisdom was not something you consumed or memorized. It was something you practiced daily. Collecting insights without changing your behavior is closer to what the Sophists sold than to what Socrates taught.Know Thyself, but not by yourself. fWotD Episode 3294: Golden Bough (Aeneid) Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia's finest articles. The featured article for Tuesday, 12 May 2026, is Golden Bough (Aeneid). The Golden Bough is a fantastical object described in the Aeneid, an epic poem by the Roman poet Virgil composed between 29 and 19 BCE narrating the adventures of the Trojan hero Aeneas after the Trojan War. The episode of the Golden Bough is found in its sixth book and is part of Aeneas's journey into the Underworld. The bough itself acts as proof of Aeneas's divine favour, and allows him to pass into the Underworld. He is tasked to find it in an expansive forest, which he accomplishes with the aid of his mother, the goddess Venus, and to remove it from its host tree. Although Aeneas has been told that it would come easily, if his journey is ordained by fate, Virgil describes the bough as briefly hesitating before he takes it.Virgil's portrayal of the bough has no direct literary antecedents, though it draws on several precedents from literature, folklore and philosophy. Scholars have connected it with, among others, the Golden Fleece in the story of the Argonauts; symbolic objects associated with deities such as Hermes, Dionysus and Circe; and the branches carried by prospective initiates into the Eleusinian Mysteries, a Greek religious rite centred on a symbolic journey into the Underworld. Virgil associates it with both death and immortality, partly by way of symbolic associations in Graeco-Roman culture between gold and the gods. It also recalls ideas put forth by the Roman philosopher Lucretius as to the nature of the soul. The episode of the Golden Bough was parodied by authors including Virgil's contemporary Ovid, and drawn upon by later Roman poets including Lucan and Valerius Flaccus.Early interpretations of the Golden Bough tended to give it an allegorical function, particularly via Pythagorean and Neoplatonist philosophy, which viewed it as symbolic of the choice between virtue and vice. Medieval commentators often considered it a symbol of wisdom, and several Christian theologians interpreted it as representing Christian wisdom and virtue. In the sixteenth century, it became a heraldic symbol of the Florentine House of Medici. Early modern receptions of the bough, including those of François Rabelais and Jonathan Swift, were often parodic or obscene. In the twentieth century, scholars following the Harvard School interpretation of the Aeneid argued that Virgil's use of the bough reflected his ambivalence towards Aeneas and the latter's mission to set in motion the rise of the Roman Empire. Other critics have highlighted echoes between the episode of the Golden Bough and the morally charged deaths of two of Aeneas's antagonists, Dido and Turnus. In the fourth or fifth century CE, the commentator Servius connected the bough to rex Nemorensis, a priest of the goddess Diana at Lake Nemi whose office was passed on by the killing of its holder. This equation influenced the anthropologist James George Frazer, who used the bough for the title of his 1890 work on comparative religion. The bough is recalled in Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy and was the subject of an 1834 painting by J. M. W. Turner, which was used as the frontispiece for the early editions of Frazer's book. It was an influential motif in the "Byzantium" poems of W. B. Yeats and in the poetry of Seamus Heaney, who made several translations of Virgil's account of the episode. Scholars have also drawn parallels between the Golden Bough and significant objects in the novels of J. R. R. Tolkien. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:53 UTC on Tuesday, 12 May 2026.For the full current version of the article, see Golden Bough (Aeneid) on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm standard Emma.

Around the Spring Equinox, the ancient Mysteries honored Persephone's return from the depths of the earth. Her movement between worlds revealed a profound truth: life continually renews itself through cycles of descent, listening, and emergence.Within each of us there is a similar mystery: a place where creativity, instinct, intuition, and soul voice gather beneath the surface. We're re-releasing this powerful conversation with one of my best friends, Layla Martin, as we prepare for our next pilgrimage to Greece in Spring 2026. This episode kicks off our Priestess Pilgrimage series — a journey into the mysteries, medicines, and feminine technologies that shaped entire civilizations. In Part 1, Layla and I explore what it meant to walk as a priestess, why words like witch and oracle were once titles of honor, and how ancient rituals using breath, trance, plants, and embodied worship were designed to help humans experience the divine directly. We also share why tens of thousands of people once traveled to Eleusis to transform their relationship with death — and why those same technologies are rising again now. If you've ever felt the pull toward deeper remembrance, this episode is a doorway. In this episode, we explore: •The true meaning of “High Priestess” — beyond trend, beyond aesthetic •Why the ancient “witch” was simply the wise woman and spiritual leader • How Eleusis became the epicenter of direct divine experience • The connection between plant medicine and early mystical Christianity • Why embodied spirituality threatens systems of control • The Persephone descent as a map for healing and power • How reclamation impacts love, sex, creativity, body image & sovereignty • The very real, very human moments of pilgrimage (including the porta potty initiation) Key Moments: [00:01] High priestesses & the origins of plant medicine as sacrament [00:56] Why Emily & Layla created their own priestess pilgrimage [02:40] Witch, wise woman, priestess — reclaiming the lineage [05:06] What it means to hold spiritual authority in your own body [07:02] How patriarchy severed women from the divine [08:05] The “religion with no name” — nature, cosmos, direct experience [09:41] The Eleusinian Mysteries & dying before you die [12:01] The ingredients, codes & hidden teachings of the Kaikion [15:11] Plant medicine, sovereignty & why it threatened empire [17:18] The psychological impact of remembering your divinity [20:03] Inside the descent myth of Persephone & Demeter [23:52] The moment the pilgrimage became hilariously human Layla Martin — Founder of the VITA Method, teacher of Tantra, sexuality, emotional mastery, and spiritual awakening. We follow the launch of the Sicilian Expedition from the charged votes in the Assembly to the glittering departure ritual that Thucydides captures with chilling clarity, tracing how a cautious proposal spiraled into the most costly armament a single Greek city had ever sent to sea. Along the way, the story exposes the fragile scaffolding beneath the spectacle: stretched finances, untested logistics, and a leadership trio whose visions for victory did not neatly align. We unpack why Nicias's warning inadvertently enlarged the mission, how private wealth and public funds turned ships into floating symbols of prestige, and what it really took to feed, water, and coordinate 134 triremes and thousands of troops far from home. The mood in Athens—joy, pride, and hunger for pay and glory—meets a jolt of fear when the Herms are mutilated. That sacrilege, and accusations of mocking the Eleusinian Mysteries, recast the expedition as a test of piety as much as power. Alcibiades demands an immediate trial to clear his name; conservatives stall, aiming to blunt his momentum. He sails under suspicion as informers multiply and recall whispers gather force. At sea, strategy tightens into choices. Lamachus urges a quick strike on Syracuse; Nicias wants patience and proof; Alcibiades argues for encirclement through alliances. The route through Corcyra and the heel of Italy doubles as diplomacy, but support proves thin. Regium offers only its harbor; Segesta's promised silver dissolves into theater. The expedition's grand math starts to wobble, and the Athenians confront the hard truth that empire projected across the Ionian is measured in barrels and treaties, not just in votes and bravado. If you value deep dives into ancient strategy, politics, religion, and the human psychology behind big decisions, tap follow, share this episode with a history-loving friend, and leave a review telling us which strategy—direct strike, slow build, or alliance-first—you would have chosen. Let's get ready to rumble against that wickedness in high places. Dr. Joanna Kujawa joins me to discuss her new book, Alien Goddess: UFOs, AI, and the Goddesses of Ascension. We'll discover if the beings called aliens are spiritual entities, visitors from the stars, or possibly ourselves from the future. These anomalous encounters frequently involve a female, goddess-like figure who conveys an alarming message about humanity entering a perilous path. The warning concerns the dark temptation of Artificial Intelligence, which promotes ideologies suggesting that consciousness is akin to computer programming and promises (bullshit) mechanical immortality. The gnosis-antidote to this situation is encoded within ancient wisdom, specifically the mythologies of descent and ascent—such as The Descent of Inanna, the Eleusinian Mysteries, and Pistis Sophia—which offer tools for spiritual ascension. VYS0051 | Can You Recommend The Moon? - Vayse to Face with Phil Ristaino - Show notes Finally finding someone who is more obsessed with Twin Peaks and Under the Silver Lake that they are, Hine and Buckley enthusiastically welcome Phil Ristaino to Vayse. Phil has an intimidatingly impressive CV, as an actor, artist, singer and host of the joyful, thoughtful and perhaps a little insane Post Relevant Podcast, a podcast which analyses the meaning and symbolism of Under the Silver Lake and Twin Peaks the Return in minute, intelligent and perhaps a little insane detail. The discussion galavants from Phil's special areas of obsession, Under the Silver Lake and Twin Peaks, to his wider thoughts on magic, the essential intrinsic delight of creativity, art as an expression of life... and then out of nowhere Phil recommends the moon... How does a young girl, Kore, complete the transformation into Persephone? Who is Hades and why is he messing with his niece, Kore? How does the whole snatching of the beautiful maiden go down, and what happens in the Underworld? It's a story with complicated supernatural family ties, a kidnapping, a mother's grief, famine, a marriage, and - big headline - the introduction of seasons into the human world. Mylonas Welcome to Featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia’s finest articles. The featured article for Saturday, 28 December 2024 is George E. Mylonas.George Emmanuel Mylonas (Greek: Γεώργιος Μυλωνάς, romanized: Georgios Mylonas, Greek pronunciation: [/ʝe'oɾʝios myːlo'nas/], ye-OR-yios mee-loh-NAS; December 21, [O. S. December 9] 1898 – April 15, 1988) was a Greek archaeologist of ancient Greece and of Aegean prehistory. He excavated widely, particularly at Olynthus, Eleusis and Mycenae, where he made the first archaeological study and publication of Grave Circle B, the earliest known monumentalized burials at the site.Mylonas was born in Smyrna, then part of the Ottoman Empire, and received an elite education. He enrolled in 1919 at the University of Athens to study classics, joined the Greek Army, and fought in the Greco-Turkish War of 1919–1922. He witnessed the destruction of Smyrna in September 1922, and was subsequently taken prisoner; he was recaptured after a brief escape, but was released in 1923 after bribing his captors with money sent by his American contacts. In 1924, Mylonas began working for the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, with which he retained a lifelong association. He became its first bursar the following year, and took part in excavations at Corinth, Nemea and Olynthus under its auspices. After receiving his Ph. D. from the University of Athens in 1927, he moved to Johns Hopkins University in the United States to study under David Moore Robinson, his excavation director from Olynthus. He subsequently taught at the University of Chicago. After a brief return to Greece, during which he taught at a gymnasium and made his first excavations at Eleusis, he was hired by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1931, before moving to Washington University in St. Louis in 1933, where he remained until returning permanently to Greece in 1969. There, he was prominent in the Archaeological Society of Athens and in efforts to conserve the monuments of the Acropolis of Athens.Mylonas's excavation work included the sites of Pylos, Artemision, Mekyberna, Polystylos and Aspropotamos. Along with John Papadimitriou, he was given responsibility for the excavation of Mycenae's Grave Circle B in the early 1950s, and from 1957 until 1985 excavated on the citadel of the site. His excavations helped to establish the chronological relationships between Mycenae's structures, which had been excavated piecemeal over the preceding century, and to determine the religious function of the site's Cult Center, to which he gave its name. He was awarded the Order of George I, the Royal Order of the Phoenix and the Gold Medal of the Archaeological Institute of America, of which he was the first foreign-born president. His work at Mycenae has been credited with bringing coherence to the previously scattered and sporadically published record of excavation at the site. At the same time, his belief that ancient Greek mythical traditions, particularly concerning the Trojan War and the Eleusinian Mysteries, could be verified by archaeological excavation was controversial in his day and has generally been discredited since. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:30 UTC on Saturday, 28 December 2024.For the full current version of the article, see George E. In this episode Chris delivers Opinion Scholarship on the meaning of Plato's famous Cave Allegory. He shows through the words of Plato and the ancient Greek Poet Pindar that the secret goings-on of the Eleusinian Mysteries share a hell of a lot with the experience of the prisoner freed from Plato's cave. He then posits that the secrecy surrounding the Mysteries kept Plato from speaking about it directly, leading to the parables and allegories sprinkled throughout his dialogues. And to conclude, he samples accounts from the ancient world all the way through to the modern one of other people who had a mystical experience paralleling the one outlined by the Cave Allegory. We hear the same message from Plato to Plotinus and from Meister Eckhart to Alan Watts. From Jesus to Zoroaster and from Buddha to St. Paul. Enjoy ;)

The Amish Inquisition Podcast

This week Ryan Seven returns with some intriguing new research regarding Plato's story of Atlantis. What did the Old Master encode within his legendary narrative? Find Ryan here YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/BrotherBones1111   From the web: The original account of Atlantis comes from two of Plato's dialogues: “Timaeus” and “Critias”. These dialogues were written around 360 BCE. Plato crafted these dialogues as a festival speech to be delivered during the Panathenaea, in honour of the goddess Athena. In the dialogues, Socrates asks three men to share stories about ancient Athens and its interactions with other states. Critias, one of these men, recounts a tale passed down from his grandfather, who had met the Athenian poet and lawgiver Solon during his travels to Egypt. According to the Egyptians (as relayed by Solon), there once existed a mighty empire called Atlantis. It was situated on an island in the Atlantic Ocean and ruled over other islands and parts of Africa and Europe. The city of Atlantis was meticulously designed, with concentric rings of alternating water and land. It boasted rich soil, advanced engineering, extravagant architecture, and organised military and civil administration. Their rituals paralleled those of Athens, including bull-baiting, sacrifice, and prayer. However, Atlantis became imperialistic and waged an unprovoked war against the rest of Asia and Europe. In this conflict, the much smaller city-state of Athens stood as the sole defender against the invading Atlantean forces. Against all odds, Athens triumphed, defeating Atlantis and preventing enslavement. After the battle, violent earthquakes and floods struck, causing Atlantis to sink into the sea. All the Athenian warriors were swallowed up by the earth.   In Ancient Greece, psychedelic mushrooms played a significant role in religious and spiritual practices. The Eleusinian Mysteries were celebrated in honour of the goddess Demeter and her daughter Persephone. These mysteries were regarded as the most sacred of all the rituals in Ancient Greek religion. Ancient pottery and paintings depict Persephone and Demeter holding mushrooms. These depictions suggest that the use of psychedelic mushrooms was well-known during ancient Greek times. While the exact details of the Eleusinian Mysteries remain shrouded in secrecy, it is clear that psychedelics played a crucial role in these sacred rituals.   Plato, the renowned ancient Greek philosopher, was indeed initiated into the Greater Mysteries. This initiation occurred when he was 49 years old, and it took place in one of the subterranean halls of the Great Pyramid in Egypt.  Plato himself acknowledged the significance of these mysteries. In his famous dialogue on the immortality of the soul, the “Phaedo”, he stated: “Our mysteries had a very real meaning: he that has been purified and initiated shall dwell with the gods” . #atlantis #lostcivilisation #plato _______________________________ Follow us here: https://allmylinks.com/the-amish-inquisition Signup for the newsletter, join the community, follow us online, and most importantly share links!  Producer Credits for Ep 321: TBC _______________________________ Leave us a voicemail: 07562245894 Message us here....follow, like, subscribe and share. You can help it reach a wider audience by pre-ordering now from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or any other bookseller. While the First Marcomannic War was raging, Marcus Aurelius, surrounded by death and betrayal, found consolation in writing his famous notes “to himself” on Stoic philosophy. He also made a solemn vow. If he survived long enough, he would go on pilgrimage to Athens and join the supplicants being initiated in the Temple of Demeter at nearby Eleusis. Hadrian had tried to bring the Eleusinian Mysteries to Rome, but their mystique was rooted in the Greek temple's ancient site.Stoicism: Philosophy as a Way of Life is a reader-supported publication. Brought to you by GiveWell.org charity research and effective giving and 5-Bullet Friday, my very own email newsletter.Welcome to The Tim Ferriss Show, where it is usually my job to deconstruct world-class performers to tease out their routines, habits, et cetera that you can apply to your own life. This time around, we have a very special edition featuring Dr. Mark Plotkin and Brian C. Muraresku. Mark takes over my duties as host and interviews Brian for an episode of the Plants of the Gods podcast. You, my dear listeners, are hearing the audio before anyone else, so this is a Tim Ferriss Show exclusive. I've previously featured some of my favorite episodes from that podcast at tim.blog/plantsofthegods. These episodes cover a lot of fascinating ground. So, who is Dr. Mark Plotkin? Mark (@DocMarkPlotkin) is an ethnobotanist who serves as president of the Amazon Conservation Team, which has partnered with ~80 tribes to map and improve management and protection of ~100 million acres of ancestral rainforests. He is best known to the general public as the author of the book Tales of a Shaman's Apprentice, one of the most popular books ever written about the rainforest. His most recent book is The Amazon: What Everyone Needs to Know. You can find my interview with Mark at tim.blog/markplotkin. And the guest today is Brian C. Muraresku. Who is Brian? Brian (@BrianMuraresku) graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Brown University with a degree in Latin, Greek, and Sanskrit. The Immortality Key: The Secret History of the Religion with No Name is Brian's debut book. In 2020, it became a New York Times bestseller, and Audible named it “Best of 2020” in the History category. His website is brianmuraresku.com. You can also find him on Instagram @brian_muraresku.This is a tightly packed 55-minute interview. Mark and Brian cover the Eleusinian Mysteries, the pagan continuity hypothesis, early Christianity, lessons from famed religious scholar Karen Armstrong, overlooked aspects of influential philosopher William James's career, ancient wine and ancient beer, experiencing the divine within us, the importance of “tikkun olam”—repairing and improving the world as we go—and much, much more.
